Living in the Past

On hold for the moment at 37/55. Starting skipping way too many scenes.

I almost dropped this drama initially. The first 5 episodes felt slow and boring and were hard for me to get through. However, around episode 7 or so it starts to pick up. After that, I didn't want to stop watching it. It was the right amount of action, humor, romance, and political intrigue, and I really appreciated all of the performances. 

My biggest complaint (aside from the slow intro) is that later on Ga Ryung becomes almost an afterthought to Gil Dong. I was frustrated on her behalf on several occasions. And the Mighty Child storyline was a little muddled (then adding a 2nd mighty child just seemed a little unnecessary). 

I loved this early on, but I quickly grew bored. I put it down and never picked it back up. EDIT: I may one day come back to this when I'm in the mood again and up the rating. It's not a bad drama, I just needed something different at the time. 

This was just okay.  I really wanted to love our dimpled boy but he fell a little flat. 

I wanted to like this more than I did. My primary issue is the FL. Not the character per se, but maybe the actress. She felt very flat and had zero chemistry with our ML.  I kept trying to decide if that was really important given the characters and subject matter. Like, maybe that's just how these characters are meant to be portrayed. But ultimately it brought the drama down a bit. With that being said, I really liked the premise. The investigative/detective storyline was fun to watch, and the characters independent of one another were fine. Very watchable series.I'd definitely watch a second season if one is ever made.

This drama is a really fun blend of comedy/romance/action/political intrigue that doesn't take itself too seriously. It wasn't overly complicated and there were no parts that I found boring or tedious enough to fast-forward through.  I loved our FLs costumes. She looked gorgeous in every scene. Not to mention that she's the kind of sassy that I want in a FL. And our ML was just so, so pretty. He really pulls off the period dress. I could have just stared at him for 40 episodes and that would have been totally fine. I don't necessarily think this is a top-tier drama per se but I had a lot of fun watching it so that's really all that matters to me.  My biggest gripe is that they even tried to give the "bad guys" okay endings that they definitely didn't deserve.
