Best Chinese Costume Dramas

After watching Historical Cdramas on and off for years, this is one of two that finally got me hooked for good.  The chemistry is fantastic with all the cast and especially the MLs.  The heroine is the kind I'd like to have as the sister that went up against all my bullies and won.  The way the heroines character was written and played (by Wu Jin Yan) will have you clapping, cheering  and rooting for her through the majority of the drama.  I've yet to see a character as mentally savvy and strong as Wei Ying Luo.  If anyone can find one please let me know.  I just love a strong and righteous female lead.  No drama is perfect and this one isn't, but my gosh it was enjoyable, an exercise for the mind, and then they threw in a HAPPY ENDING!

Not the continuation of Eternal Love (TMOPB).  Instead, it's the story of the two secondary supporting characters.

Better than TMOPB (Eternal Love) in my humble opinion.
Chemistry on fire!
Super great acting from all characters.  To me, Bai Feng Jiu  and Dong Hua  are  much more  emotionally relatable and likeable characters than the mains in ET, this story went deeper and was more fleshed out.  The story needs to be followed very closely so you'll probably rewind /rewatch a lot.  I've rewatched the whole thing 4 times so far. LOVE.

If you miss this drama because of preconceived biases based on looks I feel very sorry.  This drama is awesome,  in my  humble opinion.  

A fantasy of Lives and Worlds drama, akin to eternal love.  Think it's the same writer.

-The chemistry between the leads is absolutely perfect and on point. Chang Chen and Ni Ni are perfectly cast and when you start this, be sure to overlook the fact that the wig ages and doesn't compliment Chang Chen's good looks, I absolutely guarantee that by episode 3 you will wonder why you even questioned how right he is for this roll (if you did),  just like everyone else in the timed comments did (I watched on VIKI),  I don't watch a drama based on looks alone and only slightly raised an eyebrow on the pairing during the first episode.  The story and acting overcomes everything.  NiNi is gorgeous, Chang Chen is more dashing with every word, they are just a captivating pairing.   You get humour, romance, action, beautiful cinamatography and a fantastic story.  

-Character growth plays a key roll and is so very well executed by the main actors The antagonist is a little wretch. She does her job fer sure!   The second lead will have your blood at every temperature, believe it.

-This is the most beautiful  BEAUTIFUL romance!..

No kidding really, the writers, director, actors, casting agents, producers, everybody got everything right with this one.   So what are you waiting for?

The third of my favorite three Cdramas to date.  It's epic.  A story about various deities that's detailed and rich.  Magnificent clashes between good and evil, heaven and hades and a love story wraps it all up with a happy ending.

The second of three dramas that got me hooked on Chinese historicals.  I only wish that if you're reading this, you would just trust me that this drama is amazing.  It's a feast for the eyes with a HAPPY ENDING to boot. Yaay!

A woman can be pure and true and strong and smart!  This is the story of  Ming Lan, and I appreciated every second of it.  Her grit as a child and her grace and power as a woman managing her own household and land.  This drama is not just about girl power though, you get a good look inside the gritty, twisted and even deadly machinations of an ancient noble  family's household and  how all of it (wives, children and servants) was managed.    The head wife was the thing to be and wives murdered with glee to maintain their status in the pecking order.  Ming Lans life was harrowing and precarious growing up as a child.  This drama is not embellished with special effects and the like, instead the cinematography is awesome and the acting and story is superb.

The  M&F leads chemistry is so amazing, they end up getting married IRL.  

A drama not to be missed!

Foodies hop on for the ride!  Time Travel.  Need to cheer up?  Laughter, great chemistry, romance..

I lapped up this fairy tale story,  despite the mediocre special effects, acting and actors.  Why?  omsl the FOOOOOD wow!  And the FUNNY!    It's completely over-the-top everything, and I LOVED it ALL.  The cheesy effects just made stuff all the funnier.  Did I mention the food?  Good gracious! You'll drool!  You'll appreciate all the ancient cooking techniques.  Facinating.  Happy ending of course.  LOVED this!

Don't let the title fool you, this one is good!

I really am to harsh with my ratings, because this is a really good drama that I enjoyed, and you will too! lol.

Totally watchable drama about warring tribes, factions, houses, whatever the ancients called it when they form a family from a school of thought or ideology or way of fighting.  This is a romance drama, albeit the second lead waits out his pure, sacrificial love until it's too late (ya don't say?  *rolling eyes*), you won't care though.  The male lead is pure candy to watch and any irk you find with the story will roll on by as you watch him smooth his way through until the end.  The couplehood  works and as the title suggests, The winner is love. :)

Chemistry is great.

Dragons, fire breathing monsters, fates and destinies. Heavenly and hellish ones.   All here.  CGI is not the greatest, but not the worst.  Great story jam packed with stuff for every emotion.  Synopsis is on point.  A really good watch.

This is a very good sequel to The Eternal Love I (2017) Be sure to watch season 1 first before watching this one.

This season two begins in modern day but quickly goes back to historical times to finish out the story.  There's a slight wish for more of the modern story but that evaporates once you hooked back in time.

This is just an enjoyable drama.  The 2 main characters rock!  The cast is great.  Very intricate story though so pay close close attention.

Looking for some true laugh out loud humor without sacrificing  good romance?  This fills the bill.  But watch Season 1 first!

Cast - good
Cinematography - Excellent!
Well worth watching.

HOWEVER, in the end, it's still the typical cliché driven romance we all know and love in our drama-world.
