What was the point?

Well this was a bit of a mess and I spent every episode asking what's the point, what's the point of all these new characters and all these different plot threads that are introduced but not resolved? It felt like the show was working so hard to set up season 3 that they forgot they were actually supposed to make season 2 and so what we got was this hastily cobbled together collection of episodes. In expanding the world outside the apartment complex of season 1, the writers also focused too much on adding new characters without giving us a reason to care about them, and even the core group of survivors from season 1 felt harder to connect with this time around because we kept jumping from one character to the next without really getting to spend much time with anyone. The CGI continues to be pure nightmare fuel but on the bright side, at least they didn't play that Imagine Dragons song 20 times every episode.

so much male ass so little everything else

i didn't know we were allowed to make entirely new shows and release them like its the season 2 of a well-established show. where the FUCK was song kang. they think that they could just show his ass for a little bit and i wouldn't realize that the MAIN CHARACTER was GONE for like a long ass time?? i do need to talk about how the writers were so fucking horny for song kang tho like. that lab monster fight was real fetish content. why is this strong milky smooth FULLY NAKED BARE ASS MAN being slow motion drenched in blood full-on carrie style. like sloppy dirty blood bathed glittering red breasts of a man. they didn't need to have him naked there like its soooo extremely harder to choreograph a fight scene when you can't show a character's swinging bare dick but NO. they needed to give us song kang’s bare ass. and i gotta respect that but sadly we didn't get much else beyond ass. i like the intense homoerotic tension between him and that spiky monster goo guy if they let them fuck i would be more ok with the rest of the season. but yeahhhhhh...... the rest of the season.... what the fuck was that.... like they were trying to replicate the large cast of characters trapped in a tight space trying to survive with their complex inner mechanisms but of course it's not gonna work if ur trying to introduce like 30 characters to me halfway through season two like i don't give a FAWK. where is song kang. the only characters remaining from season one is fuckass eunyu with that fuckass bob and then the little kid that got annoying way too fast and the lady that births a kid made out of mud in a frozen lake, disappears for a couple of episodes and comes back all oiled up with a pixie cut. and her baby is not even made out of mud anymore like damn. like their arc actually pissed me off so fucking much. like look at the set up here my god we could have seen this extremely weird and fucked up mother-daughter relationship develop as ms pixie learns to deal with the weird ass situation that she's in. like damn. this is a kid that literally ripped its way out of me and its a monster and its weird and dangerous but its also just a kid and its my kid and i have to take care of it and as she grows she understands her own place in all of this between monster and human or whatever the fuck but they thought that the best way to tell this extremely complex and delicate story would be to skip out on it for two episodes and then give us a few flashbacks. because it was SOOOOO important to instead show us eunyu just wandering around a bunch. god i wish they knew how to write female characters. why is every woman in this show stoic cold blooded bad ass and fucking BORING. eunyu could have a compelling arc about finding her brother but they make it so dry idk theyre sooooo worried about making her stoic cold blooded and bad ass like what happened to HAVING A PERSONALITY. IM BEGGING YOU FOR WOMEN WITH PERSONALITIES. from the new characters i dont give a fawk about anyone. why did that guy kill his mom that shit was fucking weird. and ofc he had to explode so we could see yet another man bathed in blood from head to toe. he wasnt naked this time but i know a kink when i see one. priest guy is hot ofc hes a priest and he's cool and he smokes and he has a lot of sexual tension with another one of the guys BUT WE ALREADY HAD THAT CHARACTER IN SEASON ONE!!! AND HE DIED!!! YOU CANT JUST GIVE ME SOMETHING TWICE AND EXPECT ME TO LIKE THE CHEAP ASS SUBSTITUTE. i want all the generic army guys to explode. (not the pretty face micro bangs one, he's safe) like do ANY of them have a personality. would it KILL you to idk. make one of them like a little weird or something. like maybe one of them could have a lisp.. or... a really big mole in the middle of his forehead. i guess there was the one with the scar on his cheek but hes still BORING. idk man anything to make them stand out from the other million army guys like none of them had personalities distinct from each other and they all wear the same clothes and u just gave me like 30 other characters to keep track of like who do you think i am. was i supposed to be writing this shit down. idk man shit was just boring. WHY WERE WE NOT FOLLOWING YIKYUNG AND HYUNSU'S PLOTLINE THE WHOLE TIME...... I FUCKING HATE SHIT THAT GETS EXPLAINED RETROACTIVELY LIKE THIS FOR NO FUCKING REASON. why would the best way to tell this story be through a flashback with narration over it. bitches never heard of show not tell. song kang grew his hair out and u want me to care about anything else.. he raised the mud baby for a bit and i dont get to see that at all? the set up to that whole thing was soso good they did it so dirty and then concluded it in the weirdest way possible. like not even a hint of resolution character growth or anything. i do think its compelling for yukyung to want to kill her kid! there’s so many interesting themes surrounding this crooked lens of motherhood but it was almost like they couldnt really commit either way… she wouldnt fully make an effort to truly accept what her daughter is but also she wasn’t really trying to actually kill her.. she just…. walked into a boat on fire… and then got fucked up at the end i did not understand the purpose of her monster transformation like is this supposed to have any relevance to the plot or to the character orrr.. did we just want a monster transformation here… and same with the mud baby like they do soo much tell not show in this stupid season like ok she hates people….. WHY. like i can see oh ok they tried to kill her a bunch and her mom kind of hates her but i cant FEEL it. and the moment where she like goes evil and tells hyunsu she actually wants to kill people and make them suffer its supposed to be this very like. intense and sad moment of this literal kid being so confused and grief stricken by her place in society that she cant do anything else but retaliate but like ive never really known this character before. i cant feel this shift from her. there’s nothing she’s turning into if that’s all she ever was and so that moment is just super flat like i dont really know this kid! idk man.... this was just messy.... like im mostly confused what was the plot here we just had a bunch of stuff happening with no particular purpose or goal. absolutely no single great story arc at all. what did we achieve.i love that fuckass little monster tho that little shit was so cute. it would just go oooouuugggg... grrrr nnyeeeeooowww brrr ggrreeeaoouggghh... like yeah baby lets hear it. let him speak!! i could have more thoughts but idk…. ending was weird… like i actually dont get it…. i am however soooo glad eunhyuk is back AND we got to see his ass like who decided that this show needed this much male ass and why are you right… anyways…. i just want to see lots of eunhyuk hope he’s a little evil twisted next season idk give me something fun to look at.

Showed us the darkest sides of humans and monsters

This season creeped me out !! It was way more scary with improved CGI and violence. This made me think are monsters more scary or humans fighting for survival.

I am not really a fan of series with multiple seasons as i forget what happened in the previous one, same thing happened to me here as well, had to go back for season 1 highlights for character and plot refresher.

This season was about the survivors of season 1 with additional surviors from different places , saw few characters come and go. So i kinda didnot feel very connected to the new characters and the old ones didnot make much progress . Every scene and every episode didnot impress me. The fresh plot which started after first half of the series was intriguing and the last episode was such a BANG ON!! Now i am waiting for season 3 just because of this.

Though this storyline failed to impress me as much as season 1, this too had its own assets. CGI was just amazing, humans were much scarier than monsters. I am a little disappointed as i didnot get to see more of the people i expected to see but instead that got taken over by new cast and plot . The actors were just Amazing!!! Like how did they even manage to bringout such amazing acting despite the cruel makeup and dark sets!! Were they not drained out after the shoot? The little intro and twist they had in the plot caught my attention and kept me going.

I was way too immersed into it that for a second i lifted my head and found myself out of the screen and thought. Ok, this is real world, that is just fiction, dont worry , You are SAFE , you wont turn into monster.

Warning : this has lot of disturbuing and violent scenes.

Had potential but felt like filler for what's to come in season 3

I can't tell you how excited I was for this season and how let down I ended up. I'm not sure what happened between the seasons with either writers, directors, etc. but something obviously changed because of how completely different season 2 was from the first.
I was actually okay with the time jump and introducing a new world/characters, but then nothing happened for like 3 full episodes other than major exposition with brand new characters that I did not care about at all. Also it was certainly a choice on the writers' part to sideline the MAIN characters for practically the entire season. It wasn't until Hyunsoo and the other OG characters started getting more screen time that I was genuinely interested in what was happening. Every brand new character they introduced was pointless to me. I didn't exactly hate them, but I just didn't see the point of devoting so much time to their seemingly meaningless storylines.
In my opinion what they should've done is actually shown Hyunsoo, Yi Kyung, and the child becoming a little family so that when it all falls apart there's an emotional impact on the audience. We also should've seen more of Eun Yoo and her interactions with the new characters (the soldiers, civilians, and the weird camping duo). In other words, the season should've centered around the main characters.
Honestly most of this season just felt like it was filler for the upcoming 3rd season and I really hated that because it had the potential to be something better and it really fell short. I actually do think the 3rd season will be really good just based on what's been set up in the last episode of season 2, and I am looking forward to that, but I was mostly just so frustrated with how this season played out.

Sweet Home? More like: Sweet Disappointment

Sweet Home Season 2 misses the mark completely.
Random characters are being introduced at every moment. Previously well-invested characters are being killed off or quickly forgotten. We take the perspective of 10 different characters, a few of whom are well remembered, some, known yet unmemorable, and many, entirely new and forgettable. These are all in the midst of 5 completely different yet irrelevant plotlines taking place simultaneously. If that wasn't bizarre enough, many of the exchange and dialogue between the characters do not make sense, yet all the characters seem to perfectly understand another (almost as if they all telepathically understood what the writer desired!).
Notwithstanding these errors, the show also does a complete 180 of its portrayal of the monsters in Season 1 to feature them as misunderstood, unintentionally violent creatures, which still retain their human souls entrenched deep within their anatomy, somewhere. Where exactly? No idea. But we know they still hold onto their humanity!
The show, then, passes guilt unto the survivors and forcefully tries to garner sympathy among viewers by making the monsters resemble harmless animals, infants, children, or parents. No, no it is not the monsters that are causing mass destruction and deaths that we determine to be evil, it is those pesky, paranoid humans who are the true evil incarnate as they resort to wanton violence (the overused and banal "humanity is the true evil" trope rears its ugly head again).
Season 1's writing was not spectacular either, but it at least got the job done; on the other hand, the quality of writing in Season 2 takes a steep nosedive. I have no idea what happened here, but if someone claimed a random intern took over the writing department, I'd believe him without hesitation. Fortunately, there a lot of random action sequences and CGI interspliced in the muddled storyline to distract the angry viewer from trying to understand this nonsensical story, but they still are not enough to salvage this mess of a show.

Better than Season 1!

Likes:
1) They really upped the ante for the CGI. It was a little fake for me in S1, but now it's high quality and believable. Easy now to get immersed into the world of monsters and humans.

2) Faster pace: S2 was edited well and I never got bored unlike S1

3) The addition of all the military scenes: I don't know if it's because I'm such a fan of the IRON SQUAD, but I really liked all the military scenes esp since some of my fav UDT guys from Iron Squad played minor roles. It added more action and intensity imo plus all the soldiers had such manly charisma that I admit I'm guilty of sometimes focusing more on their broad shoulders and sexy arms as opposed to the story ( 미안해 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) .

4) Better acting: Every single character was believable. Go Min Si did really well with reflecting her toughness and longing pain for her brother. Jin Young did a great job showing the duality of toughness and tenderness with his character. Oh Jung Se nailed his role as the weird crazy scientist. Choi Go was impressive for someone so young being able to reflect devastation and bitterness so well. Lee Si Young 's agony looked so real. The military guys all delivered.

5) Jin Young's bulked up body. Those shoulders! Don't pretend you didn't notice!

6) A whole lotta naked butts

7) The world building: S1 felt a bit stagnant at times being in one apt building, but here we get to see more of the outside world. Glimpses of the monsters and nature. The movement helps the flow of the story imo

MINOR DISLIKES:

1) Too little screen time for Song Kang. I wanted to see more of his character as he was so central in S1. This season focused more on the other characters which I didn't mind as Min Si, Jin Young , and the military guys were fun to watch, but I wished there was a bit more time focused on the character of Hyun Soo.

2) Too little screen time for Lee Si Young. I just love her. I mean who can forget that back scene in S1 when she lifted herself up in the vent. She's the only actress that can literally fight and go head to head with guys. So I was kind of disappointed that she didn't have a bigger part in S2, esp in regards to action. She does have a memorable ending scene, but it wasn't enough for me. I wanted to see more!

3) I have to say that not a lot of answers were given and everything is still unresolved. You get a lot of new characters, but don't really understand their deal yet. Even so, I got hooked on the whole mysteriousness of it all. I'm assuming S3 will explain a lot of things so I can't wait!

Home is no longer sweet

Extremely inconsistent tone for its episodes that led the storyline direction to nowhere. The action sequence in the first three episodes is absolutely impressive, it's cinematic and immersive but that's all about it. The episodes ahead are of really questionable decisions, the whole mood shifted out of sudden with a bunch of newly added characters that look detached and don't provide much to drive the storyline. Things got stagnant and the monster craze wore out pretty quickly, it felt like they were trying to reserve the bigger part for the next season, but hype dies down and home is no longer sweet.

A lot going on, monsters and soldiers, a nice watch

If I compare S1 to S2, then I found S1 to be more interesting. But if I solely talk about S2 then there was a lot going on. Since in S2, they have come out from the apartment to the outside world, of course, there has to be some more characters to have the story going on and to make it interesting, but somehow it felt like that there were too many characters and it was difficult to grasp upon each character story. For instance, you weren’t able to understand their perspective or their point of view or what happened in the past to them more clearly, than I was able to understand of S1 cast cause there story has already been developed.
This season was more focused upon how soldiers are trying to fight and save people. A lot of screen time was given to soldiers and showcased how much they’re sacrificing just to save people. It also showed that how most of the people just thought about themselves and not about those soldiers who are risking their life for the people.
There are new kinds of monster in this season and some of them felt like they were robots, which I found a bit strange. It also showed how the monsters are afraid of humans. As humans can kill them any time and how they wanted to save themselves as well as the other monsters and that’s why they want to kill humans.
There were some part which I have found a little bit boring (maybe because I wanted to see song kang lol) but still it was a nice watch.
Since I am a die hard fan of song kang I didn’t like the fact that being the ML, he was given a very less screen time and dialogues and also the last episode last seen where eun yu and hyun su were talking and how their was a tension between them and then suddenly the scene got cut off and I felt so bad.(crying)
Music – S1 had some awesome songs and they are a part of my playlist even today. But I didn’t like the fact that they didn’t put any kind of music in S2 because in S1 there were a lot of comments upon how the songs are not matching with the scenes. So maybe that’s why the director doesn’t put any song in this season.

But overall I liked it. It was different from S1 and it focused upon some other things. They were few emotional scenes as well and I would recommend people to watch it.

Now about the fact that would I re watch it or not? Yes, I would re-watch it when the S3 will be coming lol.
WAITING FOR S3!!!!!

Coming from someone who read the webtoon sweet home (No spoilers)

I have said this before, but the webtoon was one of the masterpieces and I love the other works of the author. I had a beef to pick with in the first season, but it was still leagues above what the second season is (can't even call it a season, to be fair). The whole 8 episodes could have easily been delivered in a single episode and would have been way better. Not gonna lie, I was massively excited as to how the story will progress, as it was diverging from the webtoon in the first season to begin with. However, now after completing it, the only thing I can say is the whole season felt like a dish served after it had gone bad.

The fan service of naked men was one thing, but the story was going around in circles and the bare minimum progress it had wasn't enough to keep oneself interested in keeping up with the whole darn eight episodes. The acting of the cast members was good, but too much CGI, which left a bad aftertaste for me personally, as I think it could have been done way better. Also, the individuality monsters had in the first season was gone, and the focus was more on portraying monsters as zombies than "monsters". I don't know how much budget went into the whole season but the gunfires, explosioins, fires, and such were done like poorly designed 3D warfare game. Anyways, it was a complete mess, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but for now will see how season 3 pans out.

─ ‍the twisted pattern of monsters and humans

I have been waiting for this season for quite some time as I really enjoyed watching season one and reading the webtoon. Although readings news about them not following the webtoon [ adding characters from Shotgun Boy ] made me question the quality of the writing, I think they did pretty good job.

Undoubtedly, compared to S1, writing lacked a bit ─ ‍from character introductions to complexity of their personas. However, they still followed a pattern that hinted a promising season 3. The first season was mainly about monsters and how humans became one due to their desires or greed. So, it started with monsters and ended with humans. Meanwhile, S2's main focus was humans, how they dealt with fear, and lack of freedom. Even the way they didn't hesitate to use fellow humans as lab rats. So, it started with humans and ended with monsters. Along the way, in this second chapter, they focused on new characters. Hence, we didn't see the original cast more. Yet, I think this hints a more complicated and thrilling S3 ─ ‍ which I'm looking forward to.

I think the reason most people felt unsatisfied is lack of screen time for the original cast. Some of them disappeared for so many episodes, such that it made audience wonder if the writer forgot them. [ I mean, wasn't Sweet Home about Cha Hyunsoo ? ] This, I think is all about marketing ─ ‍if they were going to focus on new cast most, they should have done marketing accordingly. Still, there were actually new characters with potential and I really wished they explored the colours of their personas properly.

The one that stood out the most for me in this season was Go Minsi. She did such an awesome job at delivering the characteristic changes and development that Lee Eunyoo went through and perfectly showed her determination to find her brother. Another character that stood out was Doctor Lim. Oh Jungse truly never disappoints when it comes to delivering diverse characters. Honourable mention to mother and daughter duo ─ ‍they were so twisted and dark while looking for their ownn lights.

I don't think there was a confusion in timeline as they stated how many days it has been since people discovered monsters with days instead of saying how many years it has been. They also showed that Yikyung's daughter grew up every day [ and years when she was killed ].

Also, I have mention that Sweet Home has one of the best soundtrack and am so glad they still delivered masterpieces in second season.

Overall, it was a good watch and is recommended as long as you are okay with the theme and trigger warnings. Looking forward to S3.
