One of the best second seasons I've ever watched

Where should I start, I'm just amazed by how good this was and I never felt bored and was at the edge of my seat the whole time! There was a lot of interesting new stuff and scenes and I like how the director listens to the fans (something at the end) that's something very rare to see! But.. BUT.. I wish we could have got a longer fight with Ui-myeong and Hyun-su, their rivalry was so exciting and it was great seeing Hyun-su finally mastering his powers but I understand: Ui-myeong is Ui-myeong, no wonder the fight was unequal. And there was a lot of interesting new characters introduced: particularly Yi-kyung's daughter, I really like how she's a big menace to everyone. Not to forget that some of the new monsters designs are very cool, was amazed with that too. Maybe the only thing which is a BIT irritating is that I expected some characters to live longer (we know who) but yeah overall I really liked this season and I'm excited for season 3 (summer 2024)!!! The release of the OST would be a little plus..

Felt more like a setup for season 3 rather than continuation of season 1

Second season is totally different from the first one. First season focused on surviving in a closed space while fighting off the monsters. Second one mostly takes place outside, in an open space and the main focus is placed on human s greediness and fighthing among themselves. People that will go into watching this season expecting something similar to season 1 might be dissapointed.

Story
First 3 episodes pretty much felt like a good continuation from where the story was left hanging at the end of season 1. It seemed like you know where the story is headed, but then episode 4 happens and there is a big shift in how the story unfolds from this moment. First we have a time skip, which is one of the main points I disliked - we do not even know how much time has passed, main character dissapeared for almost half of the series (and then he comes back again in this horrendous wig ... . Additionally the whole story SLOWS DOWN. Too much time wasted on dialogues between side characters that you could not care less as a viewer. Season 2 generally feels like a setting for Season 3, but it could be done better.

Characters
I dislike what was done with the survivors from Green House. Most of them was killed just to make some screen time for other (mostly bland and uninteresting) new characters. This season introduced WAY TOO MANY side characters and gave too much screen time to them. I could not care less about them. Most supporting characters that we cared for from season 1 are dead. Park Chan Young is the only good character introduced in this season.

Acting
Acting was great but I still find season 1 superior even in this aspect. Not much more to say.

Would I watch it again? Probably not, mostly because of pacing. I still enjoyed it, it was just not what I was expecting. Hoping Season 3 will be what Season 2 was supposed to be.

really bad

in short:
this was not a season 2 following up a very good season 1 of this show.

-they kept the original characters just as a strange framework on the edges, instead about 40 new characters were introduced, none of I cared for at all.

-it seemed like they writers sat together just making up ever new gruesome scenes ( oh oh, and let's do some kind of a zombi bride, we haven't done that, let's add to too!!)

-no real storyline, instead lots of torture porn (with what is going on in the real world? I really don't want to see little toddlers being hunted with bows and being shot in the back - just NO! Unnecessary for the story and just to show crass content for the sake of it)

-almost nothing of the actual main character Song Kang? He is not really in that show, oh except for these few porn-leaning scenes fighting bare'backed' and soaked in blood in slow motion.

-the only original character that had more screen time was Eun-yu. Character development: zero. She is just running around looking broody and cold and kind of like a knock-off tomb raider. I also didn't really get why so much of the storyline was hung up on her desperately wanting to find her brother- the same brother she actually hated through all season one and as they were siblings not even remotely close anyways. And now she suddenly risks her life and that of others to find him, or what is left of him. Didn't make much sense to me.

result: I'll stick with the brilliant season 1,and I certainly won't watch season 3, as there is no way to make a sensible storyline of the mess that was supposed to be a season 2.

Is this really it?

I had been anticipating the release of a second season for a few years, sweet home being one of my favourite shows, upon finding out that it was finally happening I was super excited. And it was great! For about three episodes. I was really interested to see where it would go. It seemed like how the humans could be worse than monsters was going to an important theme. Maybe something about the abuse and control of the army, that’s what it seemed to be building up in those opening episodes.

But then it kinda fell apart. I found myself comparing it to Peninsula (Train To Busan sequel) a lot, it suffered from a lot of the same same things. It might not be terrible on its own, but it doesn’t hold up to the initial media.

I got bored and lost interest pretty quickly, I didn’t really care about anything that was happening on screen anymore. It felt messy. I had no emotional investment in these characters, the originals that I did care about were buried in all the show tired to do, if they weren’t simply buried.

I also felt we lost what made the monsters so unique, they stem from the desires of people, but now we’re seeing packs of the same monster? Where’s the nuance!

It didn’t feel like I was watching the same show as I was last season. It doesn’t help that most of our beloved characters were dead in the first few episodes. I don’t watch this show expecting my favourite characters to survive, but it was upsetting seeing them being discarded so quickly so they could make an almost entirely new cast. It lost everything that made me love it. It turned into something generic. People running away from monsters and trying to survive, what post-apocalyptic media hasn’t done that already.

Sometimes there's no need for a sequel

3 years I waited for this and when it got near, i was so excited to watch this with my daughter. I have rewatch S1 several times and it was one of my favorite Kdramas. I could not even finish this sequel and decided to drop it after almost watching half. All of the favorite characters in S1, what happened to them??? How did they get such a dismal arc in s2? I would expect them to be closer, stronger and more bad ass in S2. Instead they were divisive with each other, most of them were just there and then dying for nothing. The character building from S1 just gone to nothing.

And then a bunch of characters were introduced. There were so many and created so much weird complications. None of them (maybe just 1) were memorable or even worth remembering. The ML Hyun Soo was even missing a few eps and whatever he got was just not worth the wait.

The plot was a lot more hopeless, the child monster daughter of the firefigher and their relationship was very very depressing and i don't know why it feels like if S1 brings out the best in humanity, s2 brings out the worst. And definitely created an unwatchable sequel. I won't be waiting for S3.

All the wait for nothing

Season one even with its flaws it was still more enjoyable

this season except for few things felt like a complete waste of time because it decided to be a plot bigger than its with just bad & inconsistency in the writing department we were left in a lot of questions in season one just to be with more questions in season two it’s like they never deep dive into the interesting stuff fully or explain them at all

the characters have gotten sm worse this season most of the new characters are like filler characters that don’t really add anything to the plot to even make it interesting & the original characters that were in season one & continued in season 2 either died or the show completely sidelined them I was skipping a lot of scenes this season because they meant nothing & had boring characters

The ending for this season pissed me off most k dramas just need 16 episodes or even lesser to complete it’s plot like couldn’t you have cut most of the meaningless scenes to actually complete the plot ? Like this whole season which was 8 episodes was basically a prologue to season 3 why ? We’re just milking this series especially when most of season 1 characters died after season 2

NEED SEASON 3 RIGHT NOW

what an amazing experience .
I waited so much for this season to come out and I was so afraid because of the high expectations I had , but I’m speechless .
IT WAS SO GOOD . from the first episode to the last I was not breathing properly it was so intense in the best way . we got a lot of new characters , I was very questionable and wasn’t sure about them at the start but then at the end founded myself screaming and shaking my ass off scared that something will happen to them .

if there something they’ve done wrong this season was killing ji su which was one of the best characters they’ve got . and wasted such as good actress as park gyu young . but it wasn’t a surprise because we saw it coming since the first episode .

anddd the lack of cha hyun soo scenes which doesn’t make sense because he’s literally THE MAIN character but because of that I got to attached to the new characters more so I’m not complaining that much .
song kang , such a great performance as always .
cha hyun soo is a unique and beautiful character and song kang plays him so beautifully , I just love his character and how strong he is , I hope to see him more and a lot more than this season as he needs to . and I wasn’t expecting to see song kang’s butt but I’m not complaining at all😭😭😭 .

also go mi so this season was amazing , loved loved lovedddd lee eun yoo , even better than season one .
such a badass and powerful girl . very strong and tries not to show her weakness but deep inside she misses her big brother so much I just can’t wait for them to reunite in season 3 .

now for the new characters that I loved
park Chan young ughhhhhhh my man my man my man . since his first appearance omfg that fine ass man . he’s also such a good guy 😭😭😭 I loved him dearly please let him live as much as possible .
I also shipped him so much with eun yoo I saw the sparks in his eyes pls😭😭

anddd Kim young hoo another new fine ass man joined in and ugh I was on my knees fr . plssssssssssssssss let’s not kill him (: never .
and it might be just me been delusional but the sparks between him and Kim seung wan ????? i was on the floor I wanted them to kiss so badly 😭😭

also my man yoo oh sung I didn’t know I was going to see you here!!!!!🤭🤭🤭 his character was kinda confusing but until the end he made me so interested in him I want to see what’s gonna happen in the next season.

and the entire yi kyung’s pregnancy and her daughter storyline was SO GOOD . Her daughter is very interesting character , and I lovedddd that hyun soo raised her 😭

andddd my Roman Empire every little scene of cha hyun soo and eun yoo 😭😭😭😭😭😭 that huggggggg I was screaming

and for the ending lee do hyun’s butt on my screen😭 I was blessed .. literally was blushing kicking my feet’s in the air . IM SO SO SO HAPPY MY MAN IS ALIVE STFU . and that smile at the end?????? I’m sold pls pls pls give me season 3 I need him so bad

anyways AN AMAZING SEASON LITERALLY MASTERPIECE FOR ME . I’ll never shut up about this drama , I’m so so so satisfied with this second season , I know it’s kinda slow and confusing at the first episode but please giveeee this a fair chance the lasts episodes are so gooddddd and the new characters are so interesting .

can say a bit boring ?

i don't know if you noticed that the theme of season 2 was very very much copied from alice in the boardland ,
eun yoo was looking just like the main lead acctress of alice in the board land . The storyline was also very cheap or we can say complicated , i mean why more character and the death of original cast without any reason .. ..............................................................................................................................i don't know if people notice but the theme of season 2 was very very much copied from alice in the boardland ,

Same title, different show

Having loved the season 1, season 2 was a huge let down(atleast for me).
Starting off with the irrelevant side characters & their storylines, of which I personally was bored of ,adding fuel to the fire was the given screentime to them which really pissed me off. Even with Hyun soo, idk why they made him disappear for the entire 3 episodes for goodness sake. I started to wonder who exactly was the main character ( Hyun soo or that Yi kyeong's child ). Bluntly speaking the show lacked the main storyline to focus on, it was just bunch of random side plots which will start to make sense in season 3( that's what they say).

For me , I only liked the scenes of original characters from S1 and chan young ngl and spare me with that soldiers bs we could've done it with few less of 'em.

Well that was that from me , and hope the review resonated with yours and if not that's even better.
Till then bbye..

Sweet Home 2 is great, but…

The long-awaited second part is finally here. After three years, the sequel has arrived and we finally find out how the story continues and where our beloved characters from the first season are.

To begin with, I rewatched the first season, honestly, it's been a long time since I watched the series and I'm glad I rewatched it. Watching my favorite scenes again, and also the sad ones, only brought back my desire for more and I was excited and full of expectations to finally watch the second season.

But… yes, let’s start with but…

Where do I start, ahh.

The first three episodes started off great. I was intrigued by the new conflicts and the CGI looked surprisingly better. Of course, in the sequels, you always have to adapt to the actions and decisions of the characters, even if those decisions lead them to good and bad things. We also meet a bunch of new characters who have joined the fight. Honestly, you'll either love them or hate them. There is no in between.

Finally comes the fourth episode, where the story begins to branch out. Oh boy! The scenes flew back and forth, at some parts I was confused and yelled to my TV screen “why, whyy, what’s the reason” but I followed closely anyway to stay in the loop. The new characters we met got more screen time than our original characters, which made me a little sad. I know, I know - now that's their story too, but still!

It’s a roller coaster full of everything and please be awake and in a good mood when you watch this.

Let me just say - Song Kang, you were amazing. I missed you.

Also, only 8 episodes? I finished the series so quickly, I don’t even know if I saw anything worth remembering.

Sweet Home 2 brought more fights, more characters and more monsters and even more plot twists that I expect to see untangled in Sweet Home 3.

And honestly, overall I would rate it a strong 5.5/10, but that’s on everthing else other than what I’m suggested to rate.

See you in the summer of 2024.

This is a ✨rant✨

What the hell... was this? What happened to the main characters? Who are these new people? (I don't care about them??) How did they manage to make this apocalyptic and dystopian story so boring that I skipped through the last 2 episodes because I was going crazy. What the hell was the plot??? Main characters getting killed left and right and never mentioned ever again (Ji Su....), Eun Yoo and her fuckass bob??? Song Kang sidelined in his own show?? Where was he, where was his character? By the time he had more screentime, I didn't even care anymore. This season was boring despite all the violence, beatings, explosions etc. It felt mindless, the more they gave me, the less I cared. Wow, another person dead. Another person mindlessly starting beef. Who tf cares. They wasted resources to produce these 8 episodes as a so-called prep for season 3. If season 3 doesn't give me some season 1 excellence, I'll be mad. They should bring back that one Imagine Dragons song too, and I am dead serious about that. This season is nothing more than a pile of dogshit, I'm so mad.
