Strong Characters Overcome Weak Plot

I'm not going to try to explain the plot because the characters really drive the interest of this story. The main couple, Mork (Drake Sattabut) and Tee (Frank Thanatsaran) have known each other since middle school. There was an early misunderstanding that drove them apart until high school, when this story takes place. (I'm assuming it's high school because it's never clear. They seem to skip classes so often its a wonder they aren't expelled). It's pretty clear Tee is gay and certain of his feelings but he hesitates to express them to Mork. We watch Mork evolve from an indifferent acquaintance to a loving, maybe-gay partner who is the most invested in their relationship. Meanwhile, Mork's younger brother Morn (Phuwin Tangsakyuen) is having a growing bromance with this friend Gord (Neo Trai). Given these two boys are in middle school, their drama is a bit more unusual and interesting to watch. At the conclusion, Mork and Tee get engaged, even though they've never gone beyond kissing. The story asks if they really need to go beyond that to be in love and it's a good question. I have to think there must be many straight couples who partner just for companionship. But I suspect the audience hoped for that final romantic scene as the payoff for 12 hours of viewing. A key plot point is Tee's mom doesn't approve of his gay relationship and tries to drive them away. Then Tee and Mork are involved in a car accident and this changes her mind about them. This scene was poorly executed and really unnecessary. Earlier we had been introduced to Tee's grandmother who approved of his relationship. It would have been far more dramatic and satisfying to the audience for the elder member of the household to scold her daughter for her selfish behavior, Special mention should be given to Khaotung Thanawat who play's Mork's best friend Au, who has a boy crush on Mork. His storyline is a missed opportunity to explore the tragedy of loving someone who doesn't share your affection. There was a hint that Au had a secret admirer of his own, but that's never developed. When these long BL dramas struggle to fill the time, it would be better to develop these more offbeat subplots than repeat the same conflicts with the main characters. On the production side: Thai BL dramas seem to have a lot of sound problems, particularly when characters have physical contact and their shirt worn lavalier microphones are bumped. There are an excessive number of bad mic pick-ups in this series. These should have been dubbed (rerecorded) in the studio. The camera work is better, with only a couple of live focus and framing errors. Indeed, many of the visuals are quite good. On acting, Drake (as Mork) gets most the screen time and he manages to keep his ever-changing character consistent through the story. In the beginning, his character is so stoic we wonder if he'll ever display any emotion, but we grow to love him most at the conclusion. Frank gives us a rather icy Tee who never fully melts into the kind of chemistry we hope for. Playing a 15-year-old middle schooler doesn't give Phuwin (Morn) a very wide pallet of emotions to play with. But we get a nice surprise toward the end of the drama when Morn confronts Gord about the shallowness of their relationship. The final hugging scene is nicely drawn. Neo Trai delivers a wonderfully subtle performance showing Gord's struggle with wanting to reveal his true feelings toward Morn but fearing he might drive him away. His confrontational speech with Morn is a highlight of the show. It's too bad the script didn't go through one more rewrite because some minor fixes could have made this show an easy 10 rating. Still, I can recommend it for Drake's performance and the secondary story involving Morn and Gord.

Trasnsitions are for chumps.

It's like the editors and writers of this have never heard of a transition in their life. So many time jumps, so many story changes. All of which had little to no lead up, transition, logic or prior context to them. So many times while watching it I thought I accidentally missed a section on youtube, but nope, apparently they just changed the period of time and changed and dropped plot points seemingly at a whim.

The various plots were mostly interesting as stand concepts, and the acting was super cute in this. So I suppose if you are watching for the seeing these actors first/early work, there's still things to like about it.

Cute, sweet, and family focus

I am very glad that I watched this series despite with low review score. It is light hearted, fun, and full of love. It definitely did not focus on normal BL issues such as cheating, jealous girl friend, or unrealistic male leads. I like the fact that this series really focuses on family values. Everyone in the series tried their best to take care of family even the mom.
Frank and Drake were so adorable and had great chemistry for each other. I definitely recommend everyone to give this series a chance.

I consider the biggest weakness of this series to be the fluctuation of the story, the ambiguous behavior of some characters and too many, especially here, gays. Too much of everything is harmful. Without them, perhaps the story of Morko and Tee-ho would be more believable. That's why I deduct half of the points from perfection for the story.
The acting was solid, but certainly not top notch. Just well spoken and following the instructions of the director. After all, both main characters were actually only 18 years old, and I don't think the attraction would go in only one direction. Maybe Mork was cuter, but Tee was more interesting, sometimes more mystical. The character of Mork's father was well played and believable. Solid sound and processing. The main Mork-Tee pair can also be seen in the Our Skyy puzzle, which is also listed here.

Za největší slabinu tohoto seriálu považuji kolísání příběhu, nejednoznačné chování některých postav a zbytečně moc, a tady obzvlášť, gayů. Všeho moc škodí. Bez nich by možná příběh Morka a Tee-ho byl uvěřitelnější. Proto za příběh ubírám z dokonalosti celou polovinu bodů.
Herectví bylo solidní, ale určitě ne špičkové. Prostě dobře odmluvené a dodržující pokyny režie. Zvuk a zpracování solidní. Hlavní dvojici Mork-Tee můžeme vidět ještě i ve skládance Our Skyy, kterou zde máme též uvedenu.

This story started off with great promise and excellent characters. Mork was just about the cutest guy you've ever met, and initially their dynamic actually surprises you. Their relationship shifts back and forth throughout the first few episodes and it's very well-told. You don't realize who has what intentions for quite a while and it's surprising when you determine who wants what, and who wanted what back when they were 14! I'm rarely surprised, so that gave this story such a high potential for me, only for it to just fall apart from there.

There are so many plot holes, it's unmanageable. And the story takes some odd turns, for no reason, and there are a lot of things that aren't explained at all. They are on and off to the point where I actually wondered if the videos I were watching were listed out of order or something. The production value was low, as it is with a lot of these LINE dramas, but I feel like they could have done a lot better given what they were working with.

And, there is only one couple, which after watching other BLs where there are many pairings, was almost disappointing, especially since the brother and his friend are definitely gonna be together eventually. That plot is also riddled with holes and is confusing in a lot of ways.

Honestly I lost interest, especially when the unnamed sickness struck one of the characters and put him in a bed with a taped piece of bloody gauze on his head for two episodes. That was just ridiculous.

I could have stopped early on, after they kissed, and everything would have been fine. It would have been a great show. But it just unraveled after that.

Still, the actors are adorable and have great chemistry, so it's decent if you are out of other stuff and just need something to pass the time that will make your heart go doki doki.

Confusing at Times.

This drama overall was like some reviewers mentioned: all over the place. This is an older drama having come out in 2018 when Thai BL dramas were still gaining popularity and you can tell that the budget at times can be a bit low. Especially the sound engineering was bad. If they filmed in public, you can always hear background noise and it's hard to hear what the people are saying.

I actually watched this drama because of Phuwin. After watching him in Fish Upon the Sky, I wanted to see him in another show (I've also seen him in gifted graduation, too).

The storyline is a bit weird. It feels like they purposely make the story overtly sexual to cause sexual tension, but for no particular reason except to keep others engaged?

The story includes Mork, an 11th grader who sells porn in his father's hair salon...why? And his father seems to support the business.

In one scene, Mork lends his friend his shorts that have "semen" on them. Why?

Another time, Tee complains about an erection and not being able to pee.

Another time we find out Mork had molested Tee when they were younger, and he molested him again to see if he had a boner while watching gay porn.

Tee also suddenly appears to save Mork or vice versa on several occasions but it never made sense how he could be there at just the right moment to do it.

In the final episode, they're forced to stay apart, and Tee refuses to open his door to say goodbye, and yet later he meets Mork to say goodbye? It just didn't make much sense, and I can't tell if it was with just all of the random jumping from place to place.

I think in recent years, we have gotten some really great stories that have told a beautiful story with an actual plotline, that watching older dramas leaves a lot to be desired.

Finally, the last episode never tied up loose ends. Tee is going abroad, and it's highly implied that Mork will follow him and that they will go together. Everyone seems to know this but Mork, and then the series just ends.

Unpopular opinion, apparently, but I really, really liked My Tee. Sure, it was cheaply made and it dragged in certain places but I really liked the plot. Yes, I liked Mork’s chronic illness - leukemia, I would guess from the symptoms? - and Tee’s slight mental instability and both Tee’s and Mork’s family situations and Tee’s mom’s blackmail and even the possible cheating plot.

Yes, I liked all of it. But then, I also loved the Non storyline in Dark Blue Kiss and I loved WaterBoyy The Series and I still do not get the hoopla about 2gether, so there’s that. You can say that my interests are very… niche.

In general, though, what I liked about My Tee was that, despite its undeniable shortcomings, the drama had an actual plot that focused on two pairings and that was it, there weren’t a hundred or so couples to fill out a plot void. And the chemistry between Frank and Drake was just… wow!

If you like Frank, Drake, trope-y teenage shows, watch this. Otherwise, don't bother.

When we started watching this with my viewing buddy we did not have great expectations. We started watching it because we'd enjoyed Drake and Frank in 2gether. We thought they had great chemistry together and wanted to see something else they'd done together.
Before I start my review proper, I want to warn future watchers about a TW which might feel important to potential future watchers. There is a scene in one of the early-ish episodes which is essentially sexual assault. It is resolved in a way that is somewhat okay and made us feel like they'd at least realised what was wrong with it and that we could continue the show, but a friend told me they'd stop watching the show then.
Now to the review proper. There are some good things about this drama and there are some bad things about this drama. It isn't one I would recommend except if you fall in a few very specific categories for several reasons.

First about the bad things:
When I watch this kind of drama, I don't expect the same level of quality as I do for other types of drama or shows in general, but I do expect a minimum of quality. I don't think a single episode was colour corrected which left us with some scenes where every change of camera (with often back and forth) showed a different brightness with some shots overexposed and some under in the same scene which does distract from watching somewhat. But the most problematic technical thing for me was the sound issues. For some reason, the director decided to have a lot of scenes take place on a bridge at night, a bridge with a lot of cars going past, cars which made a lot of noise. Which would not have been as much of a problem if they'd had clip-on mics, but I'm hypothesising here that they did not. It sounds like they did try to solve the problem in post, but the result is quite a few scenes (including important scenes) when we can barely make out what they say, which is an issue even if we have subtitles.

Similarly, I don't expect the script to be the most amazing work ever written, but it felt really disjointed at times with really bad dialogue. The scenes and moments that felt the most natural and good felt like the improv moments. Once again, I don't expect greatness, but this felt like below the threshold of what I hope for, even in a cheesy, trope-y teen drama. (Plus you know, that one TW I mentioned earlier which I could have done without.)

Second about the good things:
We started watching for Frank and Drake and they were definitely one of the plus of this show. Drake's character's Mork especially is endearing even if he makes a lot of mistakes. Khaotung who plays Mork's best friend's Au and we had already seen in 2gether deserves a special mention and I particularly liked his arc. The two actors and characters who stole the show (especially at the beginning, I have more issues with their story arcs towards the end of the show) are Neo's Gord and Phuwin's Morn. They are very wholesome and if I am to believe the comments on Youtube, I am not the only one to think so.

This drama is very true to life and it truly felt like watching real life's teenagers which was refreshing.
There was also a whole discussion on homophobia which I felt was handle quite well. I definitely recognised patterns of thoughts and reactions I have encountered before. The whole arc with Tee's mum in particular hit really close to home.

This drama and the characters are endearing enough and manage to grab you in in caring about the characters just enough that you want to know what happens after and that is what made us continue watching despite the poor quality of about everything else.

In conclusion, we didn't regret watching this show, but wouldn't necessarily recommend it. If you have seen Frank and Drake in other shows and want to see them in something else, watch this. It truly reminded me of the French and American teen shows I would watch as a teenager in the 00s and 10s so if you liked those, this fits in the same category. If you enjoy really this type of cheesy and trope-y teen drama, feel free to watch this.
But otherwise, passez votre chemin as we say in French, go away and use your time in a more productive way by watching some better drama.

This is the story of Mork and Tee; Mork being the son of a barber and Tee coming from a filthy rich family... (sounds familiar?). The two had been friends in middle school but when Mork made a pass at Tee, the friendship ended and they would only come across each other again in high school. Needless to say, the love is rekindled and that leads to the rest of the story.

Story wise the plot is as silly as any plot can get; even for a BL drama. But remember, BL dramas are silly by nature (in a good way); meaning by that, that there is a great deal of cute and languishing looks in the movie, sweet and warm hugs, the tantalizing presence of unrealized furtive kisses, and gay weddings with the enthusiastic participation of all of their straight male friends... you know, the kind of thing that does not really happen in a mostly uncompromisingly heterosexual world. Therefore, if there were a category for ‘escapism’... boy!, this movie would be a 10... LOL!

The acting is what can be expected of teenagers in front of a camera, some of whom are there for their looks and with very little training in the histrionic arts. But, again... you don’t come here for the acting; you come here for the fun, and to see something cute and smile at the twists and turns of a fantasy come true. Therefore, given the premises, the acting is acceptable with regards to the teenagers. The adults are a different story, with special attention to be paid to Tee’s mother, the actress Chanokwanun Rakcheep - she did an excellent job.

Rewatch value is really low on this movie, however - to no surprise, I hope. I mean, the budget for the movie was so low, they could not even rent a real mansion to film Tee and his family. The house’s interior ended up looking more like the inside of a store, a shop, or a storage room with a collection of haphazard furniture thrown together.

Overall, however, there was very good chemistry between the two main couples: Mork and Tee, and Mork’s little brother Morn and his friend Gord. As a matter of fact, I was impressed by how well the younger couple carried their roles. The story is entertaining, though it has a couple of quirky moments; sadly however, the script was a little untidy and the editing left a great deal to be desired.

But if you’re not here looking for Oscar material, and if your purpose is to relax and enjoy a collection of happy, fairy-tale-like moments intertwined with a counter dose of sad ones... this is for you! I had a good time watching it although I would not see it again for the life of me. Rewatch value in his case is zilch… BUT, that doesn’t mean anything since, in spite of it shortfalls I had a good time watching it... ‘once’. In the end, the cute factor saved the movie for those of us who want to get silly every now and then and reach the end of a gay movie without a sour aftertaste and with the reward of happy ending.
