Great ideas, sloppy writing

Cause You're My Boy isn't one of the most regarded selections in the BL genre but many from the community have a soft spot for FrankDrake's chemistry and after watching this show, I understand why. Where this series fails in the writing compartment, it makes up for with genuinely heart-warming interactions between the main couple, Tee/Mork. There were so many moments that felt truly intimate. I appreciated the way that the boys would openly discuss experimentation and curiosity about sexuality and boners.

I also had an appreciation for the environment, despite the apparent low production. Cause You're My Boy is one of the only shows I've watched so far that depicts Bangkok as the busy, high-traffic metropolitan that it is. There aren't very many quiet moments on the show. Even in bedroom scenes, there are still times that traffic can be faintly heard. However, the sound mixing was sometimes noticeably lacking. Thankfully, it was never a major distraction. Along with the technicalities of sound in post-production, there were some very bad editing choices. For example, one scene in which Mork is covered in post-its and Tee begins removing them with his mouth. He takes one from his right cheek in the wide angle shot but in Drake's coverage, the post-it is still there.

I wish I could just say that much of my issues were with post-production but the writing was all over the place. The story was sometimes hard to follow because people would do things without explanation. Early on, I was completely unsure at how Mork and Tee viewed their relationship because there was no consistency. Sometimes, it would seem like Tee was pursuing Mork while Mork was hesitant and in the very next scene, the roles were reversed. The characters acted with no nuance or build-up.

The one storyline that had good foreshadowing was Mork's sickness, but even that got dragged down by lack of explanation onscreen. Mork's nosebleeds were indicators of his declining health but they were cleverly disguised by his wild thoughts of sex. Excellent allusion to the storyline but then they never even bothered to reveal what the actual illness was (YT comments say that it was Leukemia in the book). Mork's hospitalization was executed very poorly. I didn't even realize right away that he was hospitalized for a long time until a later scene.

A storyline that I thought suffered from poor development was Au's feelings for Mork. I liked the storyline but I thought there should have been more done to allude to that in the beginning. All hints leading up to the revelation came halfway through the show. And then when Mork reveals to Tee that he may have slept with someone (never saying who), Tee was completely unbothered. That wasn't very realistic at all.

There was a storyline with Bambi and Ching that came out of nowhere and then went nowhere. In fact, as soon as there was some apparent tension between the girls, they went missing for the next few episodes until the last episode where they have one single scene to hug it out.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend this drama to someone who wants a coherent story but if you're in it for the sweet moments then I say go for it.

Like many others, I started watching this series with a high expectation set by its first episode. There was anticipation of why the two main characters were separated by 3 years and the obstacles that lie ahead of them.

The plot is perhaps my biggest disappointment. I am not quite sure with what the director has up his sleeve as I could tell many details were not explained explicitly, or intentionally kept secret so as to create rooms for our interpretation, say there is no explanation to why Tee skipped classes a lot during his third year and how he managed to get himself together and what the diagnosis of Mork's constant nosebleed was. I may say it might be too ambitious to illustrate the problems that could possibly occur in a homosexual relationship when two schoolboys are still struggling with their sexuality and identification. They seem to have a touch upon family and cultures, the sexual intercourse problem and the perception from the society but neither of them are explored in depth, and failed to offer insights into looking these issues as a result.

The characters and acting are another letdown for me. What's plausible is probably the storyline for Morn and Gord. It is simpler, but stronger than the main CP as they are indeed too early to confirm their feelings for each other, though they are deeply aware of how important they have been to each other. Even though I have read some praises of Drake's acting and his sophisticated delivery of emotions with his facial expression, I may have to disagree a bit on this as he has been showing really similar expressions in the latter half of the series, though he successfully brought me some heavy feeling, only occasionally . Frank is for sure lacking acting charm, so the chemistry between the main CP is not at all convincing for a supposedly established couple.

I actually like the opening theme as it has the youthful spirit this series should have, but the sounding is terrible as it is always full of noises. As a big fan of BL drama who have watched most of the BL series in recent years, Cause you are my boy is a fall-from-grace for me.

Amo demais

This show started off really promising but like many of the other reviewers said, it went downhill very, VERY fast. So many problems popping up out of nowhere, so many unanswered questions to issues that were presented as big, it was just a big fucking mess, which was sad because the the two main actors really had a lot of chemistry with each other. The budget was low, one big giveaway for that was from the terrible audio in a lot of the scenes. Letting us at least know whatever condition Mork had that caused his nosebleeds and not leaving us with all this ominous talk about taking care of each other forever and not “leaving” (aka dying) would’ve been one way to make the show better. The other thing I think they could’ve done is about one of the last scenes where Tee is leaving to go study abroad and he puts the blindfold on Mork. It was assumed by a lot of people that he was going to ask Mork to go with him but the scene just kind of ends with nothing and then we get that weird last scene that’s the ice cream commercial that I’m not even gonna talk about. I think the best close for the season would’ve been for Tee to ask Mork to go with him because at that point, both of their families had accepted them, and it just seemed like that’s what they were setting up for this whole time. The reason my overall review is pretty high is because the actual scenes with the couple were adorable and they melted my heart. They were cute as hell tbh. I would rewatch just for those cute scenes of them. I’m looking forward to their episode in our skyy to see where they are at now.

I'm confused but pleased

I'll keep this review short.

STORY:
The plot has many holes, is messy, unrealistic, confusing, and not well paced. However, it is a cute story about the two boys. There's also a few well developed side characters. It's a fun drama to watch!

ACTING:
The cast did a great job with what they were given. The chemistry is amazing.

MUSIC:
It's decent music, not the most memorable.

REWATCH VALUE:
Unless I was rewatching this to understand the drama more, I wouldn't recommend it.

I'm not a big fan of puppy love teenage BL but somehow this easy going low budget gradually got my attention as I was in the beginning only watching with my ears but eyes surfing my phone. The characters are developed gradually -- the comfy, from wealthy Chinese family Tee (and Gord) with poor barber's sons, Mork (and Morn)

The streetwise, "toughie", porn selling, low achiever Mork opens up gradually to Tee who always exude that old wealth easy comfy, teasy, ponderous look. Feelings blossom. Conversations accompanied by simple chords guitar music and street noise on Memorial bridge with river scenes --- lends it ordinariness. Both kids face challenges from their respective single parent.

None of the usual schemings or dramatic misunderstandings often in other dramas --- this one is just light & easy, albeit lots of plenty near faces close shot conversations, without excessive expressions. And minus all the usual heavy make up. Plus, always in school uniform and shorts --- how much more ordinary can it get? Can't even say they're drop dead good looking although I like Tee & Mork very much for their respective personality.

We can only hope all our intimate relationships never lose this youthfulness as time goes by.

Fist of all, the reason i watched this show was due to 2gether the series yes i know i know very bad of me but i knew this show for quite some time but could never find the time to watch it . so, when waiting for the next episodes of 2gether i took the time to watch the series as i found it's plot to be interesting as it is based on a pair of friends who knew each other but when Mork (Drake) tried to "touch"? i don't really know how to explain it but yea it did happen there was a little bit of a misunderstanding so Tee (Frank) rushed off without taking his spectacles and the very next day they saw each other but since tee was not able to see since he left his spectacles at Mork's (Drake) house he accidentally ignored Mork (Drake) thus causing them to be distant and the reason they were finally able to be friends again was due to Tee (Frank) going to Mork's (Drake) family barber and from there they begin getting closer like they used to and they eventually fell in love and become the happy couple we all know as MorkTee of DrakeFrank

I honestly believe that the show had extreme potential. It started so well and got me hooked but as weeks gone by I wonder what has gone wrong? I am by no means a Thai guy in which I assumed that the story was explicitly based on the internet novel; but even so I thought that its quite a mess.

You can clearly see that the production team is encountering issues and its evident while watching it.

Storyline is a blur, even the actors are in a blur. It lacked appeal along the way. It hurts that I didn't like it when I really want to like the show. I just can't.

First, I marked this as "Contains Spoilers" but I'll mark the spoiler before it appears, and be as vague as possible to avoid spoiling major plot points outright. It is simply too hard to explain the big issue with pretty much the biggest plot point of the show without spoiling part of it. You might be confused about the overall rating compared to the others, but honestly, there's more to the show than the things they let you rate.

This is the first time I've felt the need to review a show. It might be a bit longer/in depth than most, as that's the type of person I am. I only recently got into BL shows (started with SOTUS/S, then that spiraled into Make it Right/2, then He's Coming to Me, and now this. The others all were amazing, and I went into this apprehensive due to other reviews. However, I'm glad I gave it a chance.

Sound wise, I actually found the intro theme (and the intermission music) to be very catchy and made me smile. That was about all the music I really noticed in the show. However, there were quite a few scenes in the show where the sound guys were TERRIBLE. When the actors were on a bridge, for instance, their voices were muffled by the traffic or waves of the river. If I didn't have subtitles, I wouldn't have known they were talking. Whoever was in charge of the sound on this show did a terrible job at some points. This only occurred 3 or 4 times, but when it did, it was horrendous. The rest of the time, it was fine.

Acting Wise, I'm not sure why people think the acting was bad. I thought it was rather good. Definitely some of the better acting I've seen in Thai dramas. The chemistry between the leads didn't feel forced, and even in the sub-plots, the chemistry between actors felt natural. In the more serious scenes, like with Tee's mom, I felt the emotion, I didn't feel like I was watching a show. And with Tee's grandma, I smiled because it felt like a sincere grandma. That's hard to pull off in a TV show.

Plot Wise, this is where the show suffers. The premise itself is the first weak point. It makes zero sense to begin with. Why would Tee want Mork to be his pretend boyfriend to make Bambi jealous? To fix that mistake, you'd want to make Bambi NOT think you're gay, not make her think you ARE gay. So that made no sense to me.

One other thing is the fact that a LOT of things happen off camera in this show. It got very annoying. Tee's mom was notoriously bad at doing things off camera, as were Gord and Morn. They were pretty good at not having Tee and Mork do things off camera though. The worst part was when characters did do things off camera, the next time they popped up, the writers acted like we had witnessed everything they had done off camera. It was almost as if they filmed everything that had been done off camera, but then cut it from the final product, but then forgot to re-film it with the knowledge we didn't see it.

***SPOILERS START HERE***

I can't really explain this WITHOUT spoiling part of it, but I'll keep it as vague as I can. The BIG plot problem a lot of people (myself included) had with this show is the fact Mork got in a LOT of trouble for the kiss in Snowland. This turned into the main plot of at least half the series. It turns out though, that this is because of poor writing and adapting of the novel. In the novel, the scene they adapted is actually Tee performing a sexual act on Mork in that scene, but they adapted it as a kiss, but kept all of the repercussions. As such, as you can imagine, the repercussions of a sexual act in public make zero sense when applied to a kiss. I won't go into details of what happened, to avoid spoilers, but it is handled very oddly and nothing really makes sense.

Finally, the ending. I've noticed a trend on this site that most people want to know if there's a happy ending when they go into the reviews. Honestly, I don't even know. This was probably the biggest letdown of an ending I've seen in any show, BL or not. It just... ends. There's no closure, nothing. The show just ends. We're left in the dark. I won't explain, as again, I am trying to stay vague. That said, their story does continue in Our Skyy, Episode 3, and they do get a proper ending. However, if you want to know how it ends, you are welcome to read the reviews over there, as I don't wish to spoil that on a review here.

I regret not seeing this show the soonest

I regret not seeing this show sooner, since I was seeing mostly negative reviews about this show and that made me disinterested.
One lesson learned - reviews are HIGHLY SUBJECTIVE and I should always give a show a chance instead of basing my opinion from other people's comments.

Anyway, the only thing I don't like about this show is its technical aspect - to be particular about the editing and sound engineering. The loopholes and skips mentioned by others are caused by these careless editing and tying of stories. Many times also I had difficulty deciphering what they are trying to say (though I am not Thai but only watching subs) as the background noise is more prominent than the dialogues.

AND NOW THE PARTS I LOVE THE MOST:

Tee - I find this guy really cute and adorable. I saw him first in Twogether and I got hooked. :) His charisma is magnetic and his smile is disarming. Ok fine. Enough drooling.
Mork - I don't like him when I first saw him at Twogether, especially his haircut there (lol). But here he is so charming and so attuned with his emotions. I love that he is very vulnerable here and very affectionate towards Tee.
NOW - It goes without saying that I LOVE the chemistry between the two - it seems so natural and I feel the chills and shivers every time they look at each other.
The side couple, Gord and Morn, are as equally charming. I can't wait for them to grow up (predator alert!).

The story was a bit shaky at first, but it unfolded just fine towards the end. I like how it centered towards family rather than a third party. It was real and the script was good.

Overall, I rank Tee and Mork as one of my Top 3 BL Love teams, and this show one of my Top 5.

SO FOR YOU reading the comments before watching the show - give it a try. You won't regret it. :)

I'm giving My Tee an over all score of 7. But let me start by saying that I personally think Drake and Frank has this really sweet charismatic chemistry going on. It translate on screen and off screen. I don't know what it is, but they just look really compatible, and this is the strength of the series. The main leads are cast perfectly. I personally find Neo to be really cute but I think, he needs more acting training and classes to really bring out the essence of his character. But as a young Thai actor, this series is a great start for him. As he gain experience from other drama projects, his acting skills will also grow in time. There is nothing wrong with Neo, he's very handsome its just that I would like to see more emotions out of him. Acting work shops will bring these emotions out. As for Phuwin, there's something about his eyes that truly speaks to me, I think its called kindness. The reason why I gave My Tee a score of 7 is because I think there's a lot of confusing scenes and unnecessary plots that are highlighted all through out the series. I do love the scenes at the barber shop, and how the relationship between Drake and his dad are explored. I do love the fact that Drake in the series is technically comfortable with his feelings and how his brother understood this. As opposed to the situation between Tee and his mom. I do think that the writers was not able to give Tee more room to justify why the whole series is about his story. By throwing in a lot of confusing situations and scenes, the story line of Tee, which is suppose to be the main theme of the series was lost somewhere in those confusing and unnecesarry scenes. But don't get me wrong, My Tee is a beautiful BL story. It touches on the young leads perspective of love and where this love will take them.

Mork family is the best

Its a shame how much wrong it is edited. How poor written it is. There is so much things untolded that should be said.
Why I pointed it with a 7 then?
I would like the flashbacks more clear, the lineing of the story less messing but the sweet i feel in my heart with the bond between the most of the characters is incomensurable. They had me smiling the most of the time. Its just an emotional estament.

Lets go.

Positive things

Its a BL. You know what is about. What makes Cause you are my boy special?

How the parents react over tee and mork as a couple. Two point of view, two type of parents and two typed of fratern love. Mork's father is a full love and support kind of parent, while Tee's mother is a i want which i believe is the best for you no matter what you think kind of parent.

The natural awkward scenes are a YES for me. Being a teen in love is awkward. You will see. Is not cringe. Is intentional awkward. Absolutely relatable.

The cotidianity: the relationship between morn mork and their father is so real. Their situation, their conflicts in the barbershop: yes, thats real life. Believe me, i have a family business and i have never see any representation more accurate. They are always there. Their father ask them for help. Both sons care about the business a lot. You'll normally see the family business like one-time-thing, but here is fundamental part of the story.

Tee and Mork fight over silly things, CAUSE THEY ARE TEENS. As soon as they fight they make up cause they are just impulsive. So real

The chemistry between Frank and Drake... I think I dont have to say anything more. INSANE. I cant believe they met each other for this series and HAVE THIS CHEMISTRY INSTANTLY.

Is the first work for Frank and Khaotung: for the poor writing the seried has, they made an AMAZING job

Negative things

-Sexual jokes. Especially in the first episodes. Theres two in the first episode that are absolutely cringe.

-the "couple" between Morn and Gord. First of all: they are supposed to be 13-14 years old an the actors obviously have more (Neo is 17 and Phuwin 15 and it shows). They are cute but their storyline is boring. Hyper boring. I dont understand the whole point about them.

-timeline is messed up. You'll find yourself lost in the flashbacks and some points in the storyline. Especially when they go to the cinema.

Rewatch potencial:

For me, to rewatch a serie it has to have 3 things: emotional moments (if i feel butteflies in my stomach, there it is) 1/1, characters well constructed 0.5/1 , and funny moments 1/1
My Tee has 2.5/3 to rewatch. Honestly I could rewatch it, but without Morn and Gord. They apported ZERO to the story.
