A True Masterpiece: Mental Health & Awesome Couple Chemistry

I loved this drama! A true masterpiece ❤️ This drama will go straight to my favorite list!
I watched this drama in 2021 and I'm sure glad I did now. With my life experiences, I can safely say that I watched it at the right time in my life. I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much in 2014.

I loved the angle from which mental health was approached. It's a pretty heavy subject to tackle in general. Here, it is approached in a light tone, while not minimising the fact that it is an illness.

I loved the romance. A real chemistry between the main couple. I loved the light touches they had all the time between them. For once in Dramaland, the couple talks about their problems and actually discusses them. How often do the heroes in Dramaland not talk to each other enough. Here it was not the case at all.
The two main heroes have very endearing personalities and we love them as they are.

The plot with the family of the hero Jang Jae Yeol was superbly well done.

The secondary characters are all engaging. I particularly liked the family atmosphere in the house where our couple lives, but also another doctor and a man with tourette's syndrome.

The OST is a real gem. A pleasure for the ears !

Drama about self-care & personal growth

This drama is everything I wanted and more. I started this drama because I wanted a feel-good. It has given me so much more!

« You just focus on what’s in front of you and do things step by step »

In this drama, romance is not the primary theme. Yes, we know it is present, but the focus is more on the characters' personal growth.

The hero is not talking much at first, but slowly, he opens up to our heroine. We could say that he is a damaged hero because of his dysfunctional family, he never had the opportunity to do what he wants with his life and was a puppet for his father’s political career. Despite his hardships in the past, the hero remains a pure and humble soul. He does not hesitate to ask questions and to look for information when he does not know something.

Personal growth : The heroine asks the hero reflective questions. He thinks about them and looks for answers in the course of the story. He learns little by little to love himself and to put himself first in his life

Romance : Communication & great chemistry of our main couple, slow burn

I particularly liked that the second couple was different from usual. The chaebol girl is not insufferable like in many other dramas.

This is not a usual drama : new twists and unexpected turns. I love it. When watching a drama, I enjoy stereotypes, but also being surprised. Here, I was surprised more than once.

    OST: good.

    Major Themes:
    - self love, self discovery, fighting for what you want, ‘adulthood crisis’, personal growth
    - trust, social awkwardness, adapt & overcome,
    - violence in sports, bullying,
    - dysfunctional family

Minor Themes: sexual orientation, bribery, orphans

    The Tale of Bai-Hei Fengxi

"Who Rules The World" initially presented a challenge to draw me in, but after three episodes, I found myself captivated by the immersive storyline. The exceptional cast, led by the talented Yang Yang and Zhao Lusi, delivered performances that added layers of depth to the narrative. The romance aspect showcased remarkable chemistry, steering away from typical rom-com misunderstandings. Instead, the main couple thrives on a foundation of deep trust and open communication, bringing a refreshing authenticity to their relationship dynamics. This intentional choice allows the audience to revel in the genuine connection between the characters. ❤️

The well-executed plot maintained my interest with its numerous twists and political intrigues. The drama excelled in portraying a strong, independent female lead, featuring impressive fight scenes and emphasizing equality with her male counterpart. The beautiful set designs and costumes added an aesthetic charm, enriching the overall viewing experience.

?"Who Rules The World" is a captivating blend of romance, intrigue, and empowerment, making it an absolute must-watch. ❤️ It is now a new addition to my list of favorite historical dramas.
