The wasted potential......
This drama had so much potential, but the dragging made it unwatchable. Amnesia twice? Seriously?I made the decision to watch this drama since I adore the childcare subgenre. I was hooked in the beginning, but the drama's ongoing repetition made me want to stop watching. At some point, the plot became quite predictable, because it was like watching the same thing over and over again. I like how they tackled some cultural standards (Age gap relationships), but I find it repugnant that they effectively rendered their characters moronic in the process. (DD's Dad, Like are u serious?)
Although they were unable to demonstrate their acting abilities due to the storyline, it was nonetheless a respectable effort.
The OST was acceptable.
I wouldn't rewatch such a drawn-out, tedious drama.

The latest installment of KBS2’s Sat/Sun drama may be the beginning of the end
The ratings say otherwise, but Young Lady and Gentleman does not quite meet the expectations of KBS2 Sat-Sun dramas. The format itself may be at a crossroads with the growth of streaming, the rise of mini-”mini-series”, and the changing drama audience.Story:
The commitment to fifty (two) episodes is a double-edged sword. Time to explore characters. Too much time to fill. Safety of a long contract versus the risk of trying something new. The formula is a multi-generational family romcom with truckloads of misunderstanding. Among its peers, Young Lady and Gentleman takes an unusually out-of-touch approach to romcom, and feelings of frustration exceed any satisfaction gained.
Acting:
The cast is surprisingly small for such a large drama. The plot is also very “main”-centric and does not give as much opportunity to others. For example, it is hard to call Kang Eun Tak’s role as a “main role”. Thus, the acting falls on the shoulders of the two main leads, Ji Hyun Woo and Lee Se Hee. The plot did them no favors, but their acting and chemistry more often breaks immersion than add to it. The small supporting cast shines brighter in their limited roles.
Music:
The standout here is the OST sung by Lim Young-woong, who received mainstream attention following his win on Mr. Trot. The rest of the OSTs are well produced but fail to be more than another track on a long list of Korean OSTs.
Rewatch Value:
With a 52 episode count, it is difficult to justify a rewatch. The last drama in this timeslot that I watched is Homemade Love Story, which is a more interesting watch. My 100% biased favorite from the timeslot is My Father Is Strange. There is also the biggest hit, My Only One. Even the next drama, It’s Beautiful Now, shows more promise with Yoon Shi Yoon heading the star studded cast.
Regardless, the days of fifty hour weekend dramas may be numbered, and I predict a shift away from this long format. Current trends indicate dramas becoming shorter, less than 12 episodes! Streaming giants are quickly moving into the KDrama sphere. Even if this timeslot remains a staple to local Korean audiences, the producers and KBS must feel the pressure to innovate, both in the format as well as the formula.

One of the worst...
I usually hold Korean recent Dramas in high regard, and occasionally one or two in recent time has disappointed me.. And Young Lady and Gentleman I thought was really entertaining and actually good. Then after episode 10 or so it began to start unravelling and went downhill gradually at first and then it just accelerated to the end. Korean drama rarely goes beyond 20 episodes, but this one went on to 50 torturous episodes, and with more than an hour per episode they were clearly out of their depth! What on Earth were they thinking? It should have been 20 episodes at max and the storyline would have been tighter and more interesting, rather than bombarding the viewers with shit. The FL lead, on my god, a 24-year-old, behaved like a retard 16 yo school girl all through the drama!!! WHY? Selling that 'Cute' girl to the boys? REALLY?

Age Ain't Nothin' But A Number and Money Isn't Everything.
This show set out to illustrate how a big age difference should not be a determining factor on whether two people should be together or not as portrayed by Young Gun and Dan Dan; It also set out to show through the actions and experiences of its characters that money is not everything and love, affection and family trump money - this is shown through the characters of Cho Sa Ra and her mother, and also through Dae Bum's story and his struggles while dating a woman richer and older than him.I would say that all in all the show did succeed in illustrating these points but it was done in an uneven manner, the writer focussed heavily on the negative with only a sprinkling of goodness. This made for a frustrating watch.
Cho Sa Ra ruined this show single handedly, the writer drew out her schemes for way too long that by the time she got her sad
(ish) ending it was too little too late.
Having said that, I enjoyed the family slice of life, the kids and Park Dan Dan, I also really enjoyed the relationship between Dae Bum and Se Ryeon, their unabashed love for each other kept me going when other aspects of the drama were dragging.
By the end of the story the characters had learned the lessons they were supposed to learn but the road walked by some characters to redemption was a bit trite, eg. Yeon Shil, what made her change and decide that money isn't everything? she just changed her mind from one day to the next. A more believable transition is that of Mrs. Wang, I could clearly see her battle to change her mindset and eventually events and life experience changed her and she became sincerely repentant.
I could have easily dropped this around the episode 25 mark but something made me keep watching so I can say that much about it.
Music was repetitive, it would have been nice to hear more songs
One great thing I can say about this drama is that it has made me interested in watching the longer episode weekend dramas which I have never watched before, I enjoyed the up close slice of life vibe of this show and am looking forward to watching more longer form dramas,

felt like a drama from 2010 with too many episodes
Honestley, I started to watch this drama because of the OST song "love always run away" by Lim Young Woong. I really love this song, so I wanted to give it a try although it has many episodes. (I usually don't watch kdramas with that many episodes)I liked the first third of the drama. It was good and I liked the main characters (Young Guk and Park Dan Dan), but through out the drama I just found myself skipping quite a lot...
Se Ryeon's mother and Jo Sara were tiring me out. I couldn't stand them and also Sara's mother as well. There were quite a few supporting character that I didn't like in comparison to other dramas I have watched.
The kids were really saving this drama! The side story of Dae Beom and Se Ryeon was very enjoyable, Mi Rin and Jun Oh were cute too.
If you leave out the unnecessary stuff, the story is not THAT bad. The drama just felt like a drama from like 2010 with too many episodes.

Nice love story, but...
I just finished watching this drama. I'm going to be honest: it's not like I don't appreciate the hard work of all cast and crew, but this time I cannot say I was impressed. The drama tells the story of a couple, with 14 years difference in age. I liked this aspect because it dealt with the stigma and objections that people have to face when they are different. They meet on a mountain, she mistakes him for a rogue and hits him, and a short time after she becomes the nanny of his three children with whom he lives after the death of his wife. The family is estranged and Dandan basically brings them together, offers the children the care, love, and attention they lacked, and reunites the whole family. This is the context in which the two ground their love. It was also nice to see how their love evolves, how it deals with opposition from others, and even the attempts to break them apart. What I did not like was Youngguk, which I felt was a weak man, who caused Dandan a lot of grief. Ashamed by the 14 years of age gap, he hesitates to engage in a relationship with her, fearing what others might say, then what his children might think, then his friends and work colleagues. Although I understand his motivation, I think that making a choice and following it would have been better. At one point he looses his memory and becomes engaged with another woman, that he doesn't love, but that he knows from a different time. Sara, to be exact, is the prototype of the woman interested in wealth, although she has some feelings that may make us relate to her suffering. She is the birth mother of Youngguk's youngest son and tries to be close to him after abandoning him at Youngguk's door. But using this as an excuse for all her intrigues, I was really bothered by that. I also profoundly disliked all their family members (parents and aunts) that had no other better things to do than yell, fight, oppose everything and make them suffer. I actually liked Dandan, a determined young girl, who followed her dream, who was not afraid to say what she thinks and feels, lovely, gentle, kind and honest. I'm happy for the ending of the drama, I think it would have been to much to bear if the couple could not marry and remain together.Cet avis était-il utile?
Bem Dificil

It dragged on at the end.
4 to 25 episodes seems to be ideal for a series. This easily should have been cut in half and ratings would have gone up significantly by viewers based on what I remember and the comments. Great job with the casting. I enjoyed the acting because they all grow on you. 500 characters just to make a review? I suppose that is like 5 or 6 lines long. Excuse me while I babble babble babble babble babble babble babble babble babble babble babble babble babble babble babble babble babble. So did I make it yet?

Annoying and manipulative characters
Plot had a good potential but I had to drop this kdrama at episode 3 and trust me if I say I usually like long dramas such as family dramas with clichés and lot of dramatic events happening but I couldn't stand this one. The FL acted so silly and was too immature + not having any respect for her adoptive mom despite they grew up together (just saying I only watched three episodes so I don't know if there's a further reason for her to behave like that but so far I hated the way she treated her adoptive mom) and even ended up doing silly things when meeting the ML and started working for him.The ML, on the other hand, doesn't even seem to have a personality, he gets mad over nothing or acts like he knows everything about people (for example, the part where he was checking the FL resume to hire her, and ended up judging her as an alcoholic)
The elders act silly and manipulative, Sa Ra's mom would do anything just to get some money, Dandan's adoptive mother is very immature and acts childish, even knowing she's in the wrong for always taking her son's side and ends up crying for everything.
The only good part was the acting, I obviously can't deny they all did a good job portraying the characters.
