Let me start by saying that my opinion is extremely unpopular but I still feel like leaving my thoughts on this.I was a complete jdrama virgin when I watched this and I almost didn't want to watch anything else from Japan after...thankfully,I did!Let me explain,if you are not into or used to physical comedy (like american comedy for example) this could seem wild to you.Actors over acting, characters behaving in insane manners, being too loud and having crazy facial expressions can be major cringe factors. The only scene I laughed at was the "I am not a homo" one,I suppose it's a classic. The story is actually ok,far fetched obviously but it is a drama after all.Overall,I do not recommend this as your first jdrama if you are like me. I haven't watched countless J-dramas, but I have watched several. So far Hana Kimi is definitely one of my favorites. The story isn't anything totally new, though it is a refreshing take on the gender-bender cliche. Gender bending is one of my favorite tropes and it was used to it's full potential in Hana Kimi. While the plot was fairly basic, I did like the use of both small and overall story arcs. It kept the show entertaining and crazy.
I thought the acting in Hana Kimi was brilliant. Just like the show, there was nothing serious about it and I felt as if every single cast member poured their heart into this show. Everything was genuine and sincere. It gave the show a wonderful vibe and made me very happy. There wasn't a single character in Hana Kimi that I disliked. I think this is the first time where I've loved every single character in a drama.
As for music, it was simple, and silly at times, but I love the opening theme IKEMEN Boogie, as well as the softer piano version IKEMEN Boogie Nights. I feel as if they embody the whole atmosphere of the show.
Hana Kimi is definitely a show that I'd like to rewatch in the future. It's so absurd and funny that I think it will always be entertaining now matter how much I watch it. Overall I loved Hana Kimi and I felt a range of emotions while watching it. I was surprised while watching the last episode when I found myself shedding a few tears. Hana Kimi was so ridiculous that I never would have expected to cry over it. But I realized that I had grown so attached to each and every character that I couldn't help but cry during a certain scene in the last episode. Hana Kimi is one of those shows that feels timeless.
I would recommend Hana Kimi to anyone in need of a laugh. It's definitely something that will brighten up any dreary day.

Comedicly refreshing!!
I was so pleasantly surprised!! This show was so refreshing!! I usually watch only romance dramas so this being so comedy heavy was definitely a change for me!!! I absolutely loved this show and I’m so sad it’s over!! I would have loved for there to be more episodes or matter of fact there should have been a season 2 where the boys all go to California and something happens where they have to stay with her for awhile or something!! All I’m gonna say is that the OG will forever be better than the remake. The Korean version was okay (RIP Sulli <3), but this one is definitely my favorite!! I do wish Sano and Mizuki confessed a long time ago tho!!! They were so cute together that it would have been nice to actually see couple scenes of them together!! I’m so glad i decided to watch this!!Cet avis était-il utile?
It is funny and over the top as expected from J-drama, so the entertainment value is high.
The main male actors are fantastic.
This drama will make you smile with its crazy plots and you will endulge in it.

Every character really had their own personalities and unique characteristics and the thing about this show is you can't come to hate anyone. Even if you did, you will still develop a soft spot for them in the end. Every character adds on to the comedy of the show so naturally you can't help but smile.
Although the show might be old, it really is gold so don't be turned off by the film quality. Knowing the language would add on to the comedy is what I feel.
I find it hard for me to find a JDrama that I really like and Hana Kimi is one of them.
Definitely a must watch.

Funny high school drama where you'll love the characters
I was wondering if I, an adult woman, can enjoy some Japanese high school drama. After watching this I am sure age doesn't play any role. The first episode I saw I felt it was kind of silly, but when I got used to the style of humour used in this show I totally loved it. I laughed a lot, smiled a lot and even cried like a real teenager.
I think usually it's really hard to make a good tsundere character which you can root for, but Sano was really a great example and all his caring moments were so brilliant. But my most favorite character was Nakatsu! He was funny all the time and I loved all the challenged he had to go through, although the biggest challenge didn't end up exactly how I would like to...
This drama is 15 years old and I can say I really went back those 15 years while watching and was back at high school.
I say give it a chance! Especially if you like a good comedy combined with heartwarming moments, strong friendship stories and also a bit of tense in some scenes.

NAKATSU FOREVER
I suddenly felt like I need to have a good laugh and so I rewatched Hana Kimi (Japanese) after 16 looong years. And guess what? I was still surprised with the over-the-top humor. The comical level is so malala, it’s still incomparable to any romcoms. Oh no, I feel nostalgic rn 🥹 This piece actually ignited my love for Japanese dramas. Having been heavily influenced by its absurdity, I have also penned a few scripts in college inserting the said kind of comedic tone but at the same time balancing it with local wits and kabaliwan of Bob Ong (Whom I’m also a fan of). Well, that’s a fun throwback for me! Hmmm I’m just starting to question my maturity and sense of humor now that I’m 30. Oh crap! 😂 Hey, no judgments to any manga reading and anime loving adults here! 😏Cet avis était-il utile?
