The female lead is a tad annoying, with her falling in love so many times and all, but I guess it happens to many of us young teenagers who haven't really experienced real love? Anyways, the story plot seems cliche at first like a love triangle kind of thing but when you watch it, it's unexpectedly addicting and nice.
Recommended for those looking for a short and sweet drama to indulge in your ikemen love triangle fantasies!

Nonetheless, it was exactly because of the suspense that I enjoyed this show. Did suspect someone from the start but the ending was really unexpected. However, had to deduct some points from the fact that parts of the mystery were still unsolved and unexplained. Though, I figured they probably left those to be explained in season 2.

I feel like the story could have stopped at around episode 16-17 and the things at the back seemed to be unnecessarily complicating the storyline, but it's the author's story so it's up to them.
Although there were lots of loopholes and plot twists with seemingly many different drama stories being mashed together, I'm giving it a 9 for the cute acting and enjoyment.
I recommend this for anyone who wants to just have a good laugh and not think too much about deep storylines and back stories (although eventually the plot gets a bit confusing but I guess you can ignore it)

My own biased opinion but I prefer lighthearted and fun shows, which was what this show was at the start. Female lead was witty, funny and cute. She was overall a really fun character to watch (irrrelevant but I was so surprised when I learnt of the actress's age because she seems so much younger). The male lead was pretty funny at the start too, playing double roles as a prince and a masked hero.
However, towards the back part of the show, when war and what not started to be brought in (typical of Chinese dramas, the show didn't entertain me as much anymore. Although the side characters were oftentimes amusing, the female lead seemed to have died towards the back. Rather than the smart girl she was before, she became impulsive and just kept wanting to go to wherever the male lead was, disregarding her own life and the people around her that would be implicated. It felt as if she lost all her ability to think rationally. To sum up the two male leads, the male lead was the good guy who was nice to everyone but in the meantime sacrificed the female lead, while the second male lead was the guy who schemed and sacrificed everyone else but was always good to the female lead and her only.
The one thing that I am most unhappy about is the forced happy ending. It felt like they crammed everything into the second half of the last episode and forced it from a normal ending (not even a sad one) to a happy ending (which didn't make me feel happy at all.
Overall, worth a watch but towards the end I was just hanging on to see how it would end, rather than because I enjoyed the show.

Definitely a must watch, but will probably not rewatch as the element of surprise and suspense would not be there anymore, and that was what kept the show going.

Overall, the side characters were really amusing and they brought light into a show that would have been otherwise boring.
((They say i need 500 words so here I am trying to lengthen this why does it feel like those word limits for school essays))

Every character really had their own personalities and unique characteristics and the thing about this show is you can't come to hate anyone. Even if you did, you will still develop a soft spot for them in the end. Every character adds on to the comedy of the show so naturally you can't help but smile.
Although the show might be old, it really is gold so don't be turned off by the film quality. Knowing the language would add on to the comedy is what I feel.
I find it hard for me to find a JDrama that I really like and Hana Kimi is one of them.
Definitely a must watch.

To be honest, the acting is actually pretty good. I thought I was used to those annoying characters trying to get close to the male lead in novels but seeing them acted out just made my blood boil and want to strangle them. Proof of the acting quality maybe?
What I was most annoyed with was the female lead. Personal taste, I prefer a strong and independent female lead, but the female lead in this show was so clumsy and dumb (for a lack of a better word), that I just couldn't stand it anymore. I would say 70% of the reason I am dropping the show is because of her.
I only watched 11/33 episodes to come to this conclusion so I wouldn't know if any of the above changes in future episodes but I probably will never find out.
