Not Precisely but it's quite similiar, a boy growning up to become powerful.. unveiling hidden powers.. love angles, friendships and swardmenships...

The overall feel in my opinion is very similar
There is also a prince going to another country as a hostage

If you like action with suspense and a touch of fantasy, then the Novoland series are a must, especially Eagle Flag. Eagle flag is about a trio of good buddies that set out on their journey to then find their own destiny but maintaining their strong bond throughout. Both have breathtaking sceneries and with some good fight sequences.

Both dramas are beautifully shot epic stories with a well-crafted world, a rich plot of court intrigue, intriguing character adventures and fantastic elements. They are a feast for the eyes and an engaging story focusing on the fate of more than one main character. Both stories absorb the viewer, transporting him completely into the created world, helped by the great music. The production quality is excellent and the only complaint is the presence of a few too long, completely unnecessary scenes.

Both are fantasy epics with gorgeous high-budget production and beautiful visuals.
Both center on warfare and politics, with lots of manipulations and bloodshed. Both are stories of few young characters who are destined to play important roles in the history.
Both have no logical endings (

The same grand and epic feel with plenty of gritty darkness and so much action in every episode! It's on par with Game of Thrones.

Basically if you enjoyed the tribal grasslands/prairie culture of Eagle Flag, and you didn't particularly care for all the supernatural aspects, you'll enjoy the Long Ballad.

A lot of it is set in the Ashine tribe, and the male lead is a warrior/general of that tribe, the foster son of the Khan. As a story goes, it's much more linear and has a pretty satisfying (if abrupt) conclusion.

Oh, I'll admit it - I'm mainly here for the braided tribal hair on the men, ok? While with Eagle Flag it was just Asule and not all the time, in LB it's Ashine Sun (ML), his men, everyone.
