I began watching Gou-Himetachi no Sengoku because I am a really big fan of the history from Japan.Until then I have already watched a few historical asian dramas. But I didn´t find so many good japanese dramas. The most outstanding dramas were koreans;)
But I must say that I was really impressed by this drama!
When I am bored by a drama I usually skip some parts but this drama here made me so addicted ,that I didn´t want to stop watching it.I watched the first 10 episodes and then I always contined to wait exited for the next episode :D You never know what will happen next and it really moves your feelings. In the first moment you must cry and the next moment you just laugh out loud! Even though it isn´t a comedy, the Cast in the drama is performing really exeptionally. You can perfectly understand their point of view and because the story is based on a true story, it feels even more real.
For the plot;
Basically the story is about a princess who is used from the birth for political matters but in the end she becomes the wife of the Shogun whom she really loves. This drama shows her strong personality and how she fought through her life until she finally found happiness ;)
I can only recommend it for everyone who wants to learn of the japanese history and who wants to see an exeptionally played drama with outstanding actors! Even when someone might don´t prefer watching historical dramas , it is worth the lenghts of 47 episodes

Another Taiga drama yet again! Taiga dramas have this strange effect on me-- the make me go awwwww at the slightest touch of a hand or a hug, unlike modern dramas where skinship is abundant; a little too abundant, perhaps. And the glorious OST! OSTs of period dramas are a work of art, the pretty instrumental sounds and the suitability of the music never fail to disappoint me. But I must complain; the opening for Gou was just too long. Can you imagine sitting in front of the computer waiting for it to buffer... only to realise that you've only loaded the opening?

Anyway, moving on. Gou was a nice break from the idol dramas as of recent, an account of the Sengoku Era told from a woman's point of view. Considering that women were of low statuses then, the effect that women had on men in this drama seems a little surreal. However, it's a nice and refreshing change from watching a period drama where men are always involved in war.

This drama recounts the life of Gou, the wife of the 2nd Tokugawa Shogun, Tokugawa Hidetada. It recounts her love life, her dedication and believe in her husband. She must've been one of the luckiest women in the Sengoku Era-- her husband never took a concubine (but had some illegitimate children along the way) and her husband was just so... dedicated to her, but maybe I'm just infatuated with Mukai Osamu's role... HE'S TOO DREAMY FOR WORDS *_* Unfortunately, Ueno Juri was a miscast. She acted her part really well, her role was rather convincing, but somehow... something didn't seem right. I can't put my finger on it but in Nodame, she had such a distinctive charm and personality, but in this, she portrayed the role too... intensively? Her words, her expression, they seemed too forced. Perhaps, but I'm not sure. Nevertheless, she put in a great amount of effort, but I will not rewatch this drama, who rewatches period dramas? Too many episodes for me to handle, I feel :(

Overall, this drama was a breeze to watch. It wasn't heartbreaking, it didn't make me angry, and it wrapped up nicely; the ending was just pretty and complete. And Mukai!! Mukai is my all-time favourite, his voice is so deep and baritone ahhhhhh *___*

I've tried once before to watch this drama and I simply could not make it very far into it. Maybe it's just me, but there were many episodes that had me skipping ahead, and Lin Da Lung's character had me cringing almost constantly. I finally dropped this after attempting to watch it for the second time. It seems to painfully drag on and on, never really hitting a good point or rhythm. Lin Da Lung was way too goofy for me to get into this seriously and I feel that it didn't contrast well with the story. The acting wasn't horrible, it was more the characters/storyline itself that I was just completely unable to connect to. Overall, everything was just too conflicting or boring for me to truly enjoy this drama.

What a surprise hit this show was. It was really the gem of 2011 drams. It is definitely something new in regards to korean drama & that with the combination of some awesome writing, directing, editing and cast made it so great . The story was just perfect with the right amount of humor, friendship, murder & mystery. The cast was also great but at first i was a little iffy on Lee Young Ah since she looks so young that acting as a prosecutor seemed far fetched but she definitely pulled it off with her own style. All in all it was definitely an exciting watch and i would recommend it to anyone that wants something new.

When I watched the first episode all I kept thinking was, "Wow, there is some serious cheesy acting going on here!" I'm not sure why I continued watching this series but I am so glad that I did. It was well worth it. The cast was pretty good (aside from the mega-cheese factor), the music was bearable (though a tad on the outdated side), and the plot was fairly unique. I highly recommend this series (you just have to push through the cartoon facial expressions, random singing, and low-tech special effects here and there).

I have no idea why I thought this drama was going to be a Chinese version of “Goong” one of my fav manwha turned drama. This really reminded me of Inuyasha, maybe a little romeo and Juliet. Anyway this a really pleasant historical treat. As you have already read the synopsis, this drama is packed with plotting (come on the are in a palace), love triangles, misunderstandings and trickery.
The working theory is that this chick goes back in time, inuyasha style, bringing modern ideas and a knowledge of how history will play out. I really enjoyed how the main female lead was head strong the whole time, and how she was inventive. I also really liked how it showed the two main characters loving each other and spending time together. This is one of the very first times I have ever seen a lead couple trust and be completely honest with each other- I thought it was wonderful. Get ready for a lot of overacting, fake laughter, bad hair pieces, backstabbing and just melodrama. The acting was poor for most characters but the main actors seemed to nail it.
No matter how much I liked the leading couple the plots were essentially the same as all other historical dramas. The palace maids are shady, the eunuchs need bribing and all of the concubines are scheming to get their kids ahead of the rest. The female lead kind of got annoying with her flawless trust in everyone who shook her hand getting her into situations where she nearly dies. I mean really how many times can you fall for the same tricks?
At anyrate this drama is long but it has some cool fights, and keeps you interested because it seems to move at a good pace. I only really had to skip 4 episodes and it had a really good ending that makes you want to know more. There is a lot of romance and not a lot of comedy, but it wasn’t very dark themed. Take some time and watch when you have a chance.
p.s. the lip syncing on all of the songs was just God awful- i mean really!!?
p.p.s. the fighting was really fake looking too.

I wasn't very fond of Lee Bo Young but was a big Joo Jin Mo fan and the synopsis sounded like this would make for angst fest...

Story: First, the revenge is way less gritty than it sounds. I thought the female characters revenge would make for a great turning point for the plot but the writers kind of dropped the ball and her "revenge" was more of an emotional one rather than of taking action which kind of gets repetative. I would have also liked it more if they cut it down to 16 eps. There are a lot of things that I would never guess would happen so the plot isnt predictable at least. The best thing about the story is the romance. Lots of angst to eat up and you pray there will be a happy ending in the midst.

Acting/Cast :Lee Bo Young is a hit or miss for me. I havent seen a decent drama with her in which she has chemistry with the male lead. Well of course here comes the attractive/great actor Joo Jin Mo and you got some HOT chemistry! Their relationship was off the charts sizzling. I didnt care for the supporting cast and found the second lead characters annoying/not relevant to the story.

Music: It fit the drama well but not memorable.

Rewatch: If it were a little shorter, i probably could watch it every year due to my love of the couple but i think this is some thing i can wait to watch in a few years.

Overall Queen of the Game is the most romantic drama you will see!

I was quite hesitant to watch this drama even a long time after it had finished airing, mainly because an idol cast isn't exactly my cup of tea. But prejudices can be so bad. This drama was an amazing watch throughout. Even though it had its fair share of cliches and typical Kdrama machinations to make the leads taste success even at the end of a road full of hurdles, it never failed to make me smile or feel what the characters were feeling. And despite all the leads, except Kim Soo Hyun, being newcomers as actors they did a pretty good job portraying the uniqueness of each of their characters. I found Suzy as Go Hye Mi, as the weakest link but even so her act did not grate on my nerves. Jason and Pil Suk's budding friendship/romance was a treat to watch and I always eagerly looked forward to their interactions. Park Jin Young, as Jin Man managed to provide the humor despite what some people are saying. Last but not the least, Kim Soo Hyun as Song Sam Dong was simply outstanding. Sam Dong loved unabashedly, never being narrow-minded or selfish. You will cry when you see him grapple with a terrible handicap, you will smile when you hear his hilarious country dialect and you will feel the depth of his unrequited love. Perhaps the most memorable character from the drama. All in all, Dream High is a MUST watch. I now know why they are making a second season!

I was a little hesitant at first to watch this, but I really enjoyed this drama. I was thinking that a 50 year old who gets pregnant was an odd plot line, but man-oh-man were there some extra plot lines thrown into the story. I would say the drama is pretty believable, the cast was amazing, and it definitely taught me a thing or two about how Japan views later-in-life pregnancies and all the complications that stem from it.

I had this series on hold for such a long time that I was reluctant to continue.

Lee Kang Hyun is a couple manager who was at the peak of her carrier but after a fateful encounter with Park Hyun Soo, a divorce lawyer, everything began to crumble before her. When she finally finds a place to start anew she finds out that the "evil lawyer" is working just next door.

The story is of course predictable but the characters are not your everyday type. I especially love the two main men : Park Hyun Soo and Yin Kyung Hwan because their antics made me laugh a lot during the show. Lee Kang Hyun's friends give a real feeling with their concern and watching them literally punching someone for her sake gave me a warm feeling inside, I'd love to have friends like hers. I won't say anything about the main actress because she didn't convince me, her character was just too much to bear.

I love the story but the first episodes were a little boring. I'll also add a fluff alert : those of you who don't like cheesy love stories, this series might not be for you!

This drama is really worth sinking your teeth into it -it's so good! It is inherently an investigative procedural with a supernatural twist that doesn't make you cringe because you may have a what the heck was those fx effects for. With each episodes the writers peels away layers of the story to ultimately reveal motives of the human heart. Our leading man Yun Jung Hoon in the role of prosecutor Min Tae Yeon uses his Vampiric prowess to solve violent crimes and I have to say that his portrayal his just perfect if you can look away of the eyeliner that in my opinion is just put a little to excess. The truth is in the blood--a taste of a victim's blood shows him glimpses of the last moments before death. Thrilling, sympathetic and so fresh--this show is a pleasure to watch. The biggest mystery surrounds Prosecutor Min Tae Yoon, tragic past in tow, who was turned into a Vampire under murky circumstances by an unknown sire. We're given juicy tidbits of clues along the way, and episodes are getting more interesting as characters continue to develop and the story gains depth. Top ratings for this innovative new drama--one of the best I've seen. A big reveal in EP 11...what a twist! And season 2 is being strongly considered right now. My only complaint and just because of that I did not give the drama a 10 is Lee Young Ah as Yoo Jung In the daughter of a mafia leader ( reveal in ep 10) who to escape her upbringing decided to live for the law. I don't really know how to get along with her characters , her acting seems force and her action rash, it seems to me like the writers don't really know what to do with her characters. Other than that nothing much to say now.

Serina loves her husband a lot. She lives only to please him and is more than happy to do so. She doesn’t understand that this sort of clingy behaviour is the reason why her husband, Fumi-kun, doesn’t want to be around her anymore. But all that changes when she meets Jinnai, a private detective who was originally tracking Serina.

Serina starts working for Jinnai and each episode chronicles a case she’s working on. The case plays a role with her own love life and she starts to change for the better. Plus, it looks like Jinnai starts looking at her in a different light too.

There is also Fumi-kun, Serina’s despicable husband. He’s involved with his boss, the Chief. The reasons why he’s doing this is for Serina’s dad, but the entire situation between them is getting messier with each passing episode. The actor is quite good. You go from hating Takefumi, to liking him. I was surprised how my feelings changed.

The show has a great story, the characters are not only wonderfully acted but show growth as well. The last scene in the show was predictable, but it fit the light theme of this drama.

Definitely check this out! This is not only cute, but as the series goes on it really sucks you in.

This is the first K-Drama that I've completed that I wish I would've skipped. I was tempted to stop watching after the first few episodes, mainly because of the annoying main character, but I listened to posts that claimed that it would eventually get much better. Though the story started to unfold into a somewhat interesting revenge mystery, the main character's actions continued to annoy me up until episode 15. Her transformation took too long for me, and I had no sympathy for her at all, even in the fat suit.

I watched this drama without any excitement, sometimes taking two days to watch one episode, and it was a struggle to complete all 16 episodes. The only entertaining thing about this drama was Park Shi Hoo, who played charming and mysterious very well. Once he left the screen, I was no longer interested in what was happening. Some of the supporting cast were decent, but the 2nd male romantic lead was a complete bore. Eventually a secondary romance started to unfold, and it was extremely hard not to fast forward through their scenes. They should have made the drama shorter instead.

I gave the music a low score, because I often found it distracting, and at times out of place. During a somber moment, having someone belt out "GoodBYEEEE my princess", or listening to the korean version of "oops, i did it again", didn't really work for me.

The few cute romantic scenes, and a decent mystery, couldn't make up for a hard to root for main character in my opinion. Maybe I would have liked it better with a different lead actress. Overall, I did like the way the drama ended, but I was more relieved that it was finally over.

Yes this is a must see. You already know the synopsis, but after the first episode this drama is totally addicting, I was late for work, messed up on finals , stayed up till the crack of dawn to watch it. Although there is no romance , there is evil plotting, cool fights, love triangles, serious romance, and straight up tragedy.
This is what I like to call a romantic tragedy because throughout the whole drama your heart literally bleeds for the characters. You want them to be together, you want them to have a happy ending but you do not know this will end. I believe that speaks volumes to the actors performances. First, Park Shi Hoo, who is hot, but wayyyy hotter when he goes to the dark side than when he is all smiles. (fangirl faint) He was incredible against Moon Chae Won who could easily have replaced and been better than anything that Koo Hye Soon is in. Two were believable lovers and just by their gazes you could tell what was up. In a side note I almost always hate Hong Soo Hyun because she’s always playing a evil chick, but that ferocity was good here.
Character wise the characters were pretty stagnant, and I loved it. I absolutely hate it when the female lead is strong and speaks her mind in the beginning but in the end wimps out, but that doesn’t happen here and I loved it all the more.
I could go on forever but, the drama is lengthy but not boring- I must confess to a little fast forwarding through the fights. A great historical drama that will not leave you wishing it was a modern day one. This drama really makes you question if love could ever really be like what you just saw on your computer screen.
