I wish to add content warnings on this review, no other spoilers!

First of all, I want to start with listing all the content warnings about this drama that I wish I had seen before starting it. There will be no other major spoilers of the story I swear! I just felt some of the things in this drama could be really triggering for some people, and that there should be some warnings.

CONTENT WARNINGS:
- extreme misogyny all over the plot
- a LOT of sexual harassment
- bullying (about appearance)
- eating disorders, glorifying/normalizing extreme dieting/losing weight
- man acting threateningly/violently towards a woman
- self harm attempt
- physical fights
- older men (6+ years older) chasing after young women

The story of this drama was okay, but I felt very uncomfortable a lot while watching this. I originally thought (because of the drama's plot summary) that it would be a wholesome romcom story about realizing your inner beauty, but in reality it really focuses on everything that's awful about living as a woman. I watch dramas to escape real-life problems a lot, so to see so much of women's struggle on screen made me uncomfortable, especially when I was expecting some fluffy wholesomeness. (Also see content warnings list above to see other reasons this drama made me uncomfortable.)

The cast was okay, the male lead seemed inexperienced in acting and his character was really one note. He had the exact same facial expression for like 85% of this drama. But he seems very young so I'm sure he'll be able to improve in the future if he wants to. The female lead was honestly an idiot for most of the drama, who made stupid decisions with weird excuses. But that's not the actress' fault but the writers'. The side (female) characters were the best characters in this whole drama in my opinion. I absolutely adored Taehee, Yoonbyul and Hyunjung. Kwak Dongyeon (Wooyoung Sunbae) is one of my favourite actors, but his character hanging out mostly with the freshmen main characters was a bit weird because he was so much older than them. Most of the other male characters were either creeps or just rude which wasn't very ideal or comfortable to watch.

However this drama has some very good OST songs, I might even add some of them to my playlist later.

Overall I scored this drama a 6.5 because it was just so uncomfortable for me for most of the time I was watching it. Also some of the characters' actions were really stupid and made 0 sense, which was very frustrating to watch. Not to mention that the only characters I actually really liked were side characters. If you liked this drama a lot, good for you, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.

The relationship was unbalanced and weird

I went into it thinking that this would be a wholesome and fluffy drama that wouldn't be too dark. I was wrong. In the very first two episodes the ML was a huge a-hole, the FL was a pushover, a little girl tried to commit su*cide, and a patient the FL became friends with just died all of a sudden. So yeah, not very wholesome in my books.

The thing that bothered me the most in this drama however were the leads and their relationship. I normally don't have a problem with age gaps, if both people in the relationship are consenting adults that don't have a big difference in maturity. In this drama's case, "difference in maturity" is a key term. If I counted correctly, the ML and FL had at least 5-8 years age difference, AND THAT DEFINITELY SHOWED. A lot of the time the FL looked and acted like an actual child, even though she was supposedly 23 years old, which is basically my age. And even to me the FL was very childish, a human door mat and even really annoying at times. She made a huge life altering decision to become a nurse just because she had a crush on a random guy she met ONCE??

And don't even get me started with the ML. From the very beginning pretty much to the last episode he was really cold and did not express any other emotion than annoyance or indifference. That didn't really change as the drama went on, his character development was absolutely nonexistent. I literally snorted and said "B!tch WHERE" when he said "She was the one who changed me." about the FL, because he was literally the same person at the beginning and the end. It took 9/10 episodes before that useless dude got the words "I like you" out of his mouth, and at that point they had already "dated" for several episodes?? Even the way they started "dating" was absolutely ridiculous, he just basically said "OK fine I'll be your boyfriend" out of nowhere and that was IT?? Not to mention that he even proposed to her after knowing her for like what, a few weeks, or a few months tops? That's so stupid. Also the squinting thing the ML did with his eyes all the time to supposedly look somehow "cool" or "mysterious" just made him look ridiculous. So yeah, TLDR: the ML was cold and uncharismatic for the entire drama, and the FL was a childish doormat who let the ML walk all over her and pretty much thanked him for it afterwards. Also I can not fathom HOW on earth did not just one or two but FOUR men all fall for Sakura?? She was so annoying and childish it didn't make any sense to me. Unless the thing they all liked about her was that she was very child-like... but that's a whole other creepy suitcase to unpack and I don't really wanna go there.

Overall, to me the relationship between Sakura and Tendo didn't feel natural, healthy or balanced. Sakura was absolutely obsessed with Tendo for 5 years, and she was very vocal about her feelings, and the energy that Tendo gave to Sakura wasn't even close to what Sakura was giving to him. They started dating but it didn't feel like it at all because it was handled in such a weird way. Tendo did not say a word to Sakura about liking her before like the second last episode. Also Tendo was clearly more experienced in relationships, which also made their relationship unbalanced. Their whole relationship felt very weird to me and I didn't think they were a good match at all. I also didn't feel a lot of chemistry between them, I think mostly because Sakura was so childish and Tendo so cold. So yeah needless to say I did not enjoy this drama, if you did, fine, but it was just not my cup of tea at all.

EDIT: Ohhh I just checked the lead actors' profiles and Sakura's actress was 21-22 at the time this drama aired, and Tendo's actor was 30, no wonder I felt iffy about them together :/ I'm literally the same age as Sakura's actress, we were born on the same year, and even a thought of having to kiss a man in his 30s creeps me out even if it was just acting.

A good romcom without unnecessary drama (:

I actually really liked Her Private Life! I have been in a bit of a K-drama slump for quite a while now, and I've been looking for some fluffy and wholesome K-dramas that I won't get too frustrated or bored with. Many dramas have some boring corruption storylines or some dragged-out unnecessary misunderstandings or other stupid drama going on, and I don't really love that because in a way K-dramas have become my escapism from real life problems that stress me out. So long story short: Her Private Life was essentially what I was looking for in a drama these days.

Story:
I liked the story of HPL a lot. It had a good balance between the different aspects of it, and I loved that it showed representation of a more "mature" fangirl, because as a woman in my 20s who still loves Korean music and dramas, I felt like I could relate to the FL a lot :D Also, at times the relationship between the FL & ML reminded me a lot of my relationship with my boyfriend haha! I loved it. There was also some casual (though very very lowkey) LGBT+ rep so that was nice (:

Acting/Cast:
I liked the cast a lot! I feel like there weren't really any weak links in neither the main or the supporting cast. I liked the main leads, and I would just like to voice my appreciation for Park Minyoung and the fact that she's really taken that "strong & determined but also very sweet career woman" role in several dramas and turned it OUT! I'm happy she has gotten herself into those type of roles now and not whatever the heck was going on in "Healer" like lol sorry girl but that wasn't really your best role ^^" Any way,, the supporting characters were all great too, I really liked them, and the cast all did a good job.

Music:
The music was okay, although the "theme song" had kind of weird lyrics that kind of bothered me at times. And in my opinion they kind of overplayed "The Idol Group Song" a bit, but other than that I don't have many complaints of the soundtrack or music. It was a pretty standard romcom soundtrack.

Rewatch value:
I feel like I possibly _could_ rewatch this some day, but I don't usually ever rewatch dramas even if they were absolutely magnificent, so I don't know ^^"

TLDR/Overall:
Taking in count all the aspects of it, I scored Her Private Life a solid 8.5! It wasn't the absolute best drama that I've ever seen, but it was sweet and very entertaining, so I'd definitely recommend it especially if you love romcoms (:

I watched this whole thing in only 4 days, I got hooked

Flower of Evil started out REALLY strong, and hooked me in immediately. I watched the first 8 episodes in like two days, and I completed the whole drama in only four days. However, at the end half there started to be a lot of frustrations for me. The characters suddenly started to be really stupid and oblivious, like I can't believe it took the so called "detectives" so long to come to the most obvious of conclusions. To add, some of the characters acted in ways no sensible human being would ever act. Those scenes felt very frustrating and unrealistic. Also, there were some things at the end half of this that felt very unnecessary and cliche even, and the ending left a few open questions that were never really answered, which felt a bit disappointing.

However, despite the negative aspects that I mentioned, as a whole this drama is definitely worth the watch. All of the cast did a very good job, the OST songs were great, and the overall plot was very interesting and engaging. And I'm saying this as a person who very easily gets bored and loses focus in things. Flower of Evil kept my attention the whole time that I was watching it, which for me is impressive. I'd gladly recommend it.

The name of the drama is a LIE

My review contains a spoiler, but in my opinion it's a necessary spoiler.

When I started this drama I thought it was pretty okay, a bit cringy at times but still okay.

Then, The Twist happened, and I dropped this drama pretty much immediately.
They just casually said "Lol everything is a lie and the male lead is legit a gaslighting abuser but that's okay right? <3"
NO, it is NOT OKAY. I simply refuse to keep watching something that literally glorifies emotional abuse and manipulation and tries to brush them under the rug like it's nothing. My advice to you is that you do the same. Do not watch this, or if you do, don't say I didn't warn you. This is such a disgusting series and I can't believe it got a second season.

Boring over halfway through, Shin Hye Sun carried this drama on her back

I was at first really frustrated at this drama, because it's 20 episodes long, and it took over half of that time before the plot got even slightly interesting. I almost dropped it at episode 2 because I was so bored and confused by it right from the start. However I persisted and watched the whole thing. I was bored out of my mind for like literally 12/20 episodes. The complicated royal relationships, schemes and all the corruption were really confusing and hard to keep up with.

I have to give a huge shout out to Shin Hye Sun, because she was 100% the carrying force of this drama. She did such an amazing job in this, I was really impressed. If it wasn't for her, I probably would have dropped this drama at the half point at the latest. It was only her who got me through my boredom and all the way through the end of this drama. The other people in the cast were honestly just okay, they got the job done. Some of the people they cast in this were very similar-looking, and because most of the people in this wore the same clothes, same hats, and same fake beards, it made some of them look almost identical. To the very end I had a hard time telling the palace maids apart, and it literally took me at least like 6 episodes before I learned to tell the king and the queen's cousin apart from each other. I have to admit, that I often have a hard time remembering faces overall, but it didn't really help that the people whom I already had a hard time recognizing, all wore the same clothes that made them look alike even more. One example of my struggle was that in episode 3 or so, I didn't realize that the king was the king because he wore a different coloured robe than before xD So this drama was a bit of a struggle for me and my two face-blind braincells lol.

This drama was seriously so boring and confusing over halfway through, things only started to get interesting towards the very end. I feel like this drama could have been only 10-16 episodes long and it wouldn't have lost anything of importance. The first half of it was soooo slow paced, that I feel like they could have done better with this drama as a whole. Also, there were some choices made in the plot/with some of the characters that made like 0 sense whatsoever, but I'm not going to specify to keep this review spoiler-free. Overall I scored this drama a solid 5, mostly because of Shin Hye Sun and the last 5-7 episodes. I have to say I would not recommend this especially if you're not very familiar with historical dramas. Some people seem to have enjoyed this a lot, but this just wasn't for me.

Heartwarming story

This drama was short, sweet, cheesy and heartwarming, and that's something I think everybody needs sometimes!
I liked the fact that they kept things fairly simple, and didn't stretch the story for too long. I hate when dramas sometimes try to stretch the plot too much. Thankfully, this drama did not do that.
The story was adorable, with a little twist of angst in there. I enjoyed it, and bingewatched the whole thing in one sitting. (Which wasn't that hard considering the fact that the episodes are only 10 minutes long.)
The cast was good, and I enjoyed the friendships between the characters a lot. I especially loved the fact that there were purely platonic friendships without unnecessary drama, unlike many other dramas..
But since of course nothing is perfect, I gave it overall 8.5 stars. I took a small amount of points off because the story and acting *could* have been better than they were at some points, but that's just me nitpicking to be honest. I sincerely think I could watch this again sometime, and I'll gladly recommend this to anyone who wants to watch something short and sweet!

Just under an hour of absolutely nothing happening

This was on TV in my country (I'm from northern Europe) so I got curious and watched it because there aren't a lot of Asian movies on TV here. It was so boring that it's actually almost impressive. The black and white filming and essentially no music were, uh, interesting choices that did nothing for this movie. In fact they maybe even made it worse.

The story goes nowhere, and you learn almost nothing about the characters. Their personalities and goals are pretty much all unknown. I literally just finished this movie like 5 minutes ago and I probably couldn't name any of the characters other than the "main character" Jongho. Though even calling him a main character is kind of reaching in my opinion. There is no real substance in any of the roles.

On top of all this, the dialogue and interactions between the characters feel extremely stiff and awkward. I think this is supposed to be some kind of art film, but I honestly don't see what the writers and directors were going for. The cinematography could have had potential to be very beautiful, but it suffers from the black and white colour scheme, and the relationships between the characters are not in any way deep or meaningful enough to be considered art.

So yeah anyway, it's a no from me, dawg.

Came for the Spica OST, found a noona romance with a bit of a draggy story

I originally discovered Witch's Romance because the "theme song" was sung by Spica, and I stumbled upon the music video of that song that had scenes of this drama in it and became interested. However I then forgot about this drama until I saw it here on MDL, and decided to finally watch it.

I was honestly excited for this drama at the beginning, things were going pretty smoothly for the two leads, but eventually there was a LOT of stuff going on and I just wished that the relationship of the main leads would have progressed better and at a faster pace. The story started to drag a bit because the writers decided to drag a lot of misunderstandings and such. Also, I honestly didn't care for the workplace scenes a lot, in my opinion a lot of those scenes did nothing for the story and they just.. were. They were really not interesting.

When it comes to the acting/cast/characters, Park Seo Joon did a good job in this, which I'm not surprised by, since he's a good actor. Uhm Jung Hwa also did a good job, her character was likable (at least after the story started to progress more) though some of her scenes were super cringy, like when she was "drunk" for example. To add, I have to say that I did not like some of the FL's colleagues at all. They were just really annoying and I didn't enjoy watching their scenes. FL's mom was also quite controlling over FL at the beginning, but she got better fortunately. I did not really like ML's best friend either, he didn't really have proper character development. FL's best friend and her husband were sweet though.

The music in this drama was good, it was cute, I love Spica so I was excited to hear a song by them in this drama, but for some reason at the second half of this drama they completely forgot the Spica song and stopped using it? That was a bit upsetting. Also, I found it kind of hilarious, that those scenes where UJH/FL was dancing in her living room, it seemed like she was originally dancing to a completely different song and that they just threw the Spica song on that scene as an afterthought almost. I mean that she wasn't moving to the right rhythm lol.

Overall this drama was just okay. It had a lot of characters that I personally didn't like, and I hoped the relationships and their issues were resolved faster, because the story started to feel draggy. The main characters were nice, and some of the supporting characters were as well. The soundtrack was okay as well. I'd say that especially if you enjoy noona romance dramas, you could give this one a try. At first I gave it 7.5 stars, but then I thought about it a bit more and I decided to score this a solid 7 stars out of 10. Not terrible, but not that amazing either.

I love a good romance spiced with ghosts and mystery!

Hotel Del Luna is one of the first dramas in a long time that has been able to pull a strong emotional reaction out of me. I have seen a lot of good, emotionally impressive dramas before, but it's been a long time since I last saw a drama like that before watching Hotel Del Luna.

The story of Hotel Del Luna is very interesting, and I was very intrigued by it right from the start. I personally really like dramas that handle the topic of ghosts, for example "Master's Sun" and "Oh My Ghostess" are some of my favourite dramas of all time. The story overall was good and interesting, but in my opinion it was a little draggy/messy/confusing at some points, which is why I scored the story 8.5. There was a lot of mystery in this drama, and I would have hoped that the mysteries could have been solved a bit more evenly during the drama. Also, there were a lot of scenes, where they used like 7 different camera angles just to show Man Whol (IU) sitting on a chair or lying under a tree for like 3 minutes straight for example, and I found that a bit unnecessary lol.

The cast of HDL was amazing. The main leads did a really good job, and all the supporting actors were amazing as well. I especially want to give a "shoutout" to Block B's P.O. aka Pyo Jihoon, I was very pleasantly surprised by his acting and I absolutely loved his character. I actually loved all of the characters that were the main hotel staff, they were so great. The only thing about the casting that I found odd, was that why on Earth was one of the ghost actresses dubbed?? I have no clue.

The music in this drama was good, I mean nothing was mindblowingly good or extremely memorable, but I didn't think any of the songs were particularly bad either. Just some quite standard drama OST songs. "Another Day" by Punch & Monday Kiz, "Done for Me" by Punch, "Can You Hear My Heart" by Heize and "Only You" by Yang Da Il were probably my favourites.

I personally never rewatch dramas anymore, but I honestly feel like this one could be entertaining to watch again some day, but not right away though. Maybe if I get my spouse to watch some dramas with me, this could be on our watchlist :D

Overall I scored this drama a solid 9. I liked the plot, I liked the cast, and even though there were some moments/people in this drama that I really disliked, (like Man Whol's personality at some points,) they didn't overshadow this drama's greatness. I would happily recommend Hotel Del Luna to anyone, especially if you like supernatural dramas with a good dose of romance and mystery (:

A bit of a lackluster

As soon as I saw Insoo in this drama I got really confused to see him in this context, but also excited lol. I didn't have very high expectations because it's such a short drama, but I was still a bit disappointed.

The pacing felt way off, due to the fact that they tried to cram a at least 10-16-episode story into 8 episodes. They had too much happening and too many plot points to go through for such a short minidrama.

However, the cast was fine, and I'm personally really proud of Insoo. My inner lowkey Myname fan (MyGirl) was happy to see him act well haha.

I mostly blame this drama's shortcomings on the writers. They could have done way better. Insoo, Lee Sang and the other cast members did their best to combat bad writing.

However, I scored this a 6.5, because it wasn't all terrible, even though it was a bit lackluster. If you're bored or if you don't have anything else to do, I think watching this could be a decent way to spend an hour and a half.

Drama that gives you a dose of a more mature romance

I just finished this drama, since someone here on MDL recommended it to me when I said I was looking for a lighthearted romcom. I pretty much got what I was asking for.

This drama doesn't really have that much depth into it, but I enjoyed watching it anyway. It's lighthearted and not too stressful, which is exactly what I was looking for in my current mood. Though there were some frustrating aspects to it because of some of the characters and misunderstandings, those didn't overshadow the main plot like I've seen happen in some other dramas. Lately I've watched a few dramas that I've almost dropped midway because they got so boring, but this one kept me at least somewhat entertained the whole way. Maybe because they kept it short at only 14 episodes instead of dragging it to be the "standard length" that's at least 16 episodes?

The main and supporting characters had good chemistry, nothing felt awkward to me. The secondary pairings were cute as well! Many of the supporting characters were really funny too.

But when it came to the soundtrack, music and overall sound management, this drama felt really amateurish. There were some scenes where the "background" music was too loud and blasting over the attempted dialogue, and one of the OST songs kind of annoyed me because the lyrics didn't make sense (what on earth does "love is mint pink" mean?? "Mint pink" is not even a colour?).

Another negative thing for me was that there were way too many flashbacks. Also the episodes are basically only 35-40 minutes long or so, they just have at least 5 minutes of "epilogue" at the end of every episode, which is pretty much just recapping a scene that already happened, but from a different camera angle or such. And at the very beginning of every episode they have this pointless long intro, and then after that they seem to take like 5+ minutes of the end of the previous episode and show it again as if the viewer doesn't remember anything that has happened. I found myself pressing the arrow keys of my laptop a lot to just skip skip skip all those recaps and flashbacks.

But overall this drama wasn't terrible, I liked watching it, and it showed a more mature description of an actual adult relationship than the average kdrama, which was refreshing to me.
Most of the time I see kdramas where some 30-something-year-olds kiss each other once and then act like it's the most embarrassing and naughty thing ever like c'mon you are not some schoolchildren you're supposed to be adults!! So the fact that the characters in this drama actually had sex and sometimes talked about sex was really refreshing to see, since as a woman in my early 20s I'm so tired of the "oh all 30+year-old Koreans are virgins and wait until marriage" narrative that most dramas try to push. It's not realistic at all. I mean not that all kdramas are realistic, but I wish that these regular adult relationship dramas could aim for realism and maturity more often, but without getting too dark. This drama did that right in my opinion.

So, after all this rambling, I ended up scoring this drama a solid 7/10. It was a bit fluffy, didn't have a lot of depth, and the sound management was a bit poor at times, but it kept me entertained and that's essentially the main thing I look for in a drama. I hope this review is helpful!

I watched My Only Love Song on Netflix, which felt a little bit weird for me at first after getting used to watching everything on Viki or online.

Anyway, I'll start with the Cast; AMAZING. I loved the characters and the acting was good. The main leads had insanely great chemistry, and the kiss scenes and skinship felt very natural and not at all forced. Not to forget Moomyung and Pyongang, they were so sweet and I loved them so much! The villain general had a good actor too, he portrayed him well in my opinion. FT.Island's Lee Jaejin did a great job in this drama too, his character was very lovable.

Next stop; Music. The drama had like 2 songs playing on a loop, the rest of the soundtrack was instrumental. The songs and instrumentals were really good but I took points away because it felt strange that they played the same two songs on loop all the time.

Moving on to the Story. It was truly the Achilles' heel of this drama. At first I really liked it, but then it started to have these weird plot holes and some of the things that happened and the things some of the characters did didn't really make sense, and the very end of the last episode left me feeling very confused. What happened there?? What does that mean? I have no clue.

But overall, if you have nothing better to do I'd recommend watching this drama just for the cast and the characters. The plot wasn't all bad either, so this could be a great way to kill some time when you're bored. If you don't mind the plot holes, this drama is actually really entertaining. Also, the episodes are very short (~20min) so this would be a quick watch even though it has 20 episodes. Anyway, thanks for reading my review, I hope it was helpful!

A nice fantasy drama with a touch of mystery

This drama was an okay watch in my opinion. It was not anything brilliant or showstopping, but it was watchable and even somewhat entertaining.

The characters were good, even though the main villain seriously annoyed the frick out of me lol. The actors did all a very good job, it was a great cast. However, I didn't get a very strong emotional connection for the characters. Sometimes I get very attached to drama characters, so much so that I'll cry when they do. But that didn't happen for me in this drama, for some reason I had a harder time really connecting with the characters.

This drama had its pros and cons. I liked the gumiho and fantasy/folklore theme a lot, and that there were different types of gumihos. I also liked the mystery in this drama, and most of the main characters were nice. There was some great character development for some of the characters as well, which I liked a lot. It was also cool to see both modern Korea and some historical aspects in this. To add, I often love "star crossed/fated lovers" theme in dramas, especially in a fantasy setting like this. I also loved that NELL's Kim Jong Hwan sang one of the OST songs since I love NELL and their music :D

The cons in my opinion would be that the villain was so annoying that I almost got frustrated with the entire drama because of him. To add, most of the fighting scenes were very silly-looking because they kind of fast forwarded them to make it look like the actors were moving really fast, and the characters didn't really make me Feel Things. (Except for Rang and his "found family", they were adorable). The plot was also a liiiiittle bit confusing at times, but that may just be me.

Overall, it's a nice drama, and if you like fantasy and mystery I'd probably recommend it to you. ^^

A quite wholesome BL drama

The story of "30-sai made Dotei Da to Mahotsukai ni Nareru rashii" aka "Cherry Magic" was fun, and it honestly melted my heart at several points! There was sometimes a bit unnecessary drama, but that can be forgiven. The story was nice overall, but it was a bit tame for my taste. I would have liked to see even one proper kiss scene, since there was a romance or two going on, but I was a bit disappointed in that aspect. I normally enjoy "skinship" like that in dramas and I'm very used to it by now, so it felt weird to watch a drama not have as much of it.

The acting was good and I liked the characters. The main characters were nice, and the supporting cast was really good as well. From the supporting cast I especially liked the kind colleague Fujisaki Nozomi, the cat-lover & supporting friend Tsuge and of course Udon-chan! ^^ I loved watching scenes where Udon-chan was just vibing and playing in the background haha. One of my concerns in the cast was Minato's actor, since he looked _very_ young and his scene partner looked a lot older, but it turns out he's actually a 22-year-old adult just like me so.. oops? Sorry for assuming you're younger than you are Minato-kun!

Talking about the music, I honestly hated the opening song of this drama, it sounded like the singer wasn't hitting any of the notes properly and it just sounded like screeching.. It's legit one of the worst songs I have ever heard in my life so I skipped it every time it came on.. Otherwise I have no complaints about the music in this drama, it wasn't anything special but apart from the opening song it wasn't bad.

I normally never re-watch dramas, but this drama was so short and sweet that I feel like I could possibly watch it again some day.

Overall I scored this drama a 8.5/10. It was sweet, melted my heart and I loved to see a wholesome BL drama like this. So often LGBT+ themed dramas and movies have a lot of obsession, death and violence in them, so it's really refreshing and fun to watch a BL drama that portrays a healthy gay relationship and gives you butterflies (in a good way) ^^ I would definitely recommend this if you like BL dramas even slightly, this was a very nice one!
