The Tale of Bai-Hei Fengxi

"Who Rules The World" initially presented a challenge to draw me in, but after three episodes, I found myself captivated by the immersive storyline. The exceptional cast, led by the talented Yang Yang and Zhao Lusi, delivered performances that added layers of depth to the narrative. The romance aspect showcased remarkable chemistry, steering away from typical rom-com misunderstandings. Instead, the main couple thrives on a foundation of deep trust and open communication, bringing a refreshing authenticity to their relationship dynamics. This intentional choice allows the audience to revel in the genuine connection between the characters. ❤️

The well-executed plot maintained my interest with its numerous twists and political intrigues. The drama excelled in portraying a strong, independent female lead, featuring impressive fight scenes and emphasizing equality with her male counterpart. The beautiful set designs and costumes added an aesthetic charm, enriching the overall viewing experience.

?"Who Rules The World" is a captivating blend of romance, intrigue, and empowerment, making it an absolute must-watch. ❤️ It is now a new addition to my list of favorite historical dramas.

A masterpiece to make you cry with an unforgettable romance

In the 11 years since I fell down the Dramaland rabbit hole, I have never cried as much as I did at this drama! I cried several times per episode! This is quite a feat, as it is very rare that I cry. For me, this drama is a masterpiece! ? It is amazing and unique compared to other typical dramas. It shows important issues such as mental health, depression, autism, domestic violence, childhood trauma and healing!

This drama was so moving that I could only watch 2 episodes a day when I usually binge-watch everything in 2 or 3 days. So be warned before embarking on this journey.

?PLOT
The hero and his autistic brother are constantly on the run from the Butterfly (the murderer who killed their mother). They meet the heroine who is a writer with an antisocial personality disorder. The three of them develop and heal together.
The story was very well put together. I was surprised several times by the plot twists or revelations.

?ACTORS
The performance of all the actors was incredible!
• When Kim Soo Hyun cries, I cried with him. He manages to share all the emotions that go through him and you can feel his pain as his acting is so well executed.
• The autistic brother was played wonderfully. I often forgot that he was an actor and thought he was autistic.
• The heroine is played perfectly too. She surprises me because she is not like the heroines we are used to seeing in dramas. She screams or rather yells and doesn't hesitate to pursue her desires. The actress has succeeded in showing us a person with difficulties in expressing her emotions.

♥️ROMANCE
The chemistry between the main couple was palpable. I loved their romance and the way they learn to set boundaries and respect each other (in their own way). The heroine is there for the hero in her own way and brings him out of his lethargy. She helps him to heal himself. And vice versa.

?OST
The songs were very well chosen to fit the moments. The soundtrack helps us get into the emotions, and connect with the characters’ suffering.

? I recommend this drama to all those who like stories of personal development, a good romance and tears. Make sure you are in a good mental state before starting this drama. Take care of yourself.

A True Masterpiece: Mental Health & Awesome Couple Chemistry

I loved this drama! A true masterpiece ❤️ This drama will go straight to my favorite list!
I watched this drama in 2021 and I'm sure glad I did now. With my life experiences, I can safely say that I watched it at the right time in my life. I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much in 2014.

I loved the angle from which mental health was approached. It's a pretty heavy subject to tackle in general. Here, it is approached in a light tone, while not minimising the fact that it is an illness.

I loved the romance. A real chemistry between the main couple. I loved the light touches they had all the time between them. For once in Dramaland, the couple talks about their problems and actually discusses them. How often do the heroes in Dramaland not talk to each other enough. Here it was not the case at all.
The two main heroes have very endearing personalities and we love them as they are.

The plot with the family of the hero Jang Jae Yeol was superbly well done.

The secondary characters are all engaging. I particularly liked the family atmosphere in the house where our couple lives, but also another doctor and a man with tourette's syndrome.

The OST is a real gem. A pleasure for the ears !

Sweet, fluffy and no-fuss story

From time to time, I like to rewatch dramas and sometimes I like to watch remakes. So I decided to give a try to this remake having seen the Korean version called Clean With Passion For Now in 2019.

This version is much better than the Korean version (from what I recall). This one is a sweet, fluffy, no-fuss story.

I was impressed by the main couple’s chemistry which was amazing. We get a lot of skinship and kisses. What I appreciated is that when there is a misunderstanding, we don’t dwell too long on it.

In this drama, I discovered the actor Jasper. I just love his smile and his dimples *_* He is a kind CEO loved by his employees and does not harass without excuse people. This was a nice change compared to other dramas ;-) The character he played was lovable.

Sweet second couples.

When shooting, the crew paid a lot of attention paid to the lights and this resulted in some magnificent shots. I was impressed by the light captured in the actors' eyes.

The story has a happy ending. The ending is nicely done and is not abrupt. An entire episode is devoted to it.

-> To conclude, I think there is a good chance that I will watch this drama again one day because I had such a good time with these characters.

(Watched on Netflix)

A story for all those working behind the Stars

For a change, we get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the lives of the stars. We get to see the people (in this case, the PR team, managers and journalists) who work hard to make the stars shine. We see how many hours the PR team gives for their work and especially that they have to be accessible 24 hours a day. It's a very stressful job that doesn't leave much room for the private life of these employees.

As the plot is mainly centred around the heroine's work, the romance is secondary. Don't get me wrong, there is romance, there even are 4 couples in total in the story. The story just focuses mainly on the heroine dealing with star scandals, anti-fans, revenge stories, events,...

Regarding the romance, I greatly appreciated that it was straightforward and without misunderstandings for many episodes.

This drama is tagged as an enemies to lovers, but in my opinion, their animosity is not very deep. The hero likes to play little pranks on the heroine, which makes them "enemies". They have known each other since university, which is 10 years.

This drama was hilarious and I enjoyed the little hints to other dramas.

In conclusion, if you are looking for a good time without a headache, I recommend this drama. It's fun, the actors are good and it's full of surprises.

A Personal & Professional Growth Journey

PLOT: This drama tells the story of a young girl (Gao Yang) from a rich family. She has a habit of spending her days shopping, which makes her an addict. Her father's business suddenly goes bankrupt. From that moment on, Gao Yang will have to face the difficulties of life.

What I really liked in this drama is that the hero Yan Li helps the heroine to grow up. She learns to save money, she finds a job and solves the tasks she is assigned with excellent results. She even discovers her passion: fashion design.
I appreciated that the heroine was not a weak and helpless woman. She is intelligent, good at what she does. She slowly discovers her qualities and strengths. On several occasions she helped the two male leads, if not saved the situation with her observations on fashion. So, yes, she is naive about life but she is not brainless.

A LITTLE DOWNSIDE: the plot concerning the heroine's father, his company's bankruptcy and Yan Li’s aunt was not resolved until very late in the story and was almost abandoned in the last episodes, as if they had forgotten to deal with this part of the plot.

SECOND MALE LEAD: Li Ming Che. For the first half of this drama, he had more screen time than the hero. This didn’t really help building a romance between the main couple. In this drama, you will clearly have a Second Lead Syndrome. Li Ming Che is really kind. He likes giving gifts to others. He is always smiling and helping.

SECOND FEMALE LEADS. We can consider that there are 2 strong women surrounding our heroine:
1. President Ye. For once, she is not an evil snake. She is in love with Director Li Ming Che. She is a strong and independent woman. She can be very demanding of the heroine, but it is all acceptable for the professional matters. (Actually, it is her secretary, on her own accord, who plotted against the heroine). As the story progresses, we get to know President Ye and end up liking her.
2. Designer Huang Nan Yan. She is in love with the hero Yan Li. This woman is not a vixen but she still tries some plots to separate the main couple.

I loved the secondary couple! Their relationship evolved in a smooth and believable way.

SLOW BURN ROMANCE: For me, this story focused much more on the personal and professional development of the heroine than on the romance. Indeed, the hero appears quite rarely.

➡️ In summary, I had a great time watching this drama. I really enjoyed the personal and professional development of the heroine. Seeing her find her way and her place in society was fun!

Drama about self-care & personal growth

This drama is everything I wanted and more. I started this drama because I wanted a feel-good. It has given me so much more!

« You just focus on what’s in front of you and do things step by step »

In this drama, romance is not the primary theme. Yes, we know it is present, but the focus is more on the characters' personal growth.

The hero is not talking much at first, but slowly, he opens up to our heroine. We could say that he is a damaged hero because of his dysfunctional family, he never had the opportunity to do what he wants with his life and was a puppet for his father’s political career. Despite his hardships in the past, the hero remains a pure and humble soul. He does not hesitate to ask questions and to look for information when he does not know something.

Personal growth : The heroine asks the hero reflective questions. He thinks about them and looks for answers in the course of the story. He learns little by little to love himself and to put himself first in his life

Romance : Communication & great chemistry of our main couple, slow burn

I particularly liked that the second couple was different from usual. The chaebol girl is not insufferable like in many other dramas.

This is not a usual drama : new twists and unexpected turns. I love it. When watching a drama, I enjoy stereotypes, but also being surprised. Here, I was surprised more than once.

OST: good.

Major Themes:
- self love, self discovery, fighting for what you want, ‘adulthood crisis’, personal growth
- trust, social awkwardness, adapt & overcome,
- violence in sports, bullying,
- dysfunctional family

Minor Themes: sexual orientation, bribery, orphans
