Well……

I acknowledge this review will have an unpopular opinion.

This was a cute story but it continues with the very bizarre story concept established in Why R U. I think this was supposed to be part of the original series but then the pandemic happened. The production team did the best they could with the parent story and I was satisfied with the results. I started to enjoy Why R U when it focused more on Fighter and Tutor.

Here is my unpopular opinion. I enjoyed this side story but I could do without it. It really did not add anything. I actually like the characters Saifah and Zon. I simply could not fully enjoy their storyline because it is heavily tied to the one thing I hate about Why R U which is the main story concept.

Didn’t Work for Me

I placed a potential spoiler at the end of this review.

I acknowledge this review will have unpopular opinions. The only reason I watched this series was because Saint Suppapong is in it. I was interested on how well his acting skills developed.

I understand COVID-19 caused havoc for this series, but it was doomed from the start. The story concept is just too weird and the script was a complete mess. It also switched from being a romantic comedy to a heavy drama out of nowhere. I was more interested with the relationship development of Tutor and Fighter than with Zon and Saifah. However, this is due to Zon and Saifah’s link to the bizarre story concept. I think Saint’s acting skills really improved and did a great job with his character. The acting by everyone else is decent. As for Zol, this character was very annoying. There were to many supporting cast members and subplots that went nowhere. However, this probably had to do with the pandemic. There are some editing problems with time continuity, one minute it’s daytime and then it’s night time within the same scene. There is also an overuse of sound effects.

Random Note: This is the first BL series that I almost dropped. I kept watching because I wanted to see how Tutor and Fighter’s relationship would end.

******Potential Spoiler Alert******
Why is Zol writing a BL novel about her brother (Zon) and why are all the other characters ok with this? This makes no sense.

Watch With Caution

First off, this series has a scene that down played rape which I had to skip. Just a FYI.

I acknowledge this review will have unpopular opinions. I guess this series was considered good when it was first released. There are 4 main storylines which did not help this series. See the breakdown section for more. The script borderlines between satisfactory to pure garbage. There are times where it goes wrong real fast. There are also to many supporting cast members to keep track of. I stopped trying to remember because I stopped caring. Not only are there 4 main storylines, there were also various subplots introduced that they expect you to remember. The acting is ok considered many of them were new at the time. However, it’s hard to tell if it’s the acting or the directing that is bad during some points.

Main Storyline Breakdown (Don’t worry, no spoilers):

1st Storyline: This one involves Pete and Ae which is the healthies out of the 4 storylines. It often borders on the line from cute to annoying.

2nd Storyline: This one involves Tin and Can. This is where the storylines start going downhill. There are some cute moments, but it does not out way the cringey, annoying, and mean ones.

3rd Storyline: This one involves Tum and Tar. This storyline tried to tackle a serious topic, but it failed on many levels. It was also cringey at times.

4th Storyline: This one involves Techno and Kengkla. This is where we hit rock-bottom. This is not even a storyline because most of it involved Kengkla and Technic (Techno’s younger brother). This also has the scene that romanticized/down played rape.

Random Note: If you do decide to watch this, I recommend skipping all the scenes involving Tum/Tar and Kengkla/Technic/Techno’s storylines. I think the actors are good but both storylines are unnecessary. However, skipping the scenes only improved the watchability of this series slightly.

******Potential Spoiler Alert******
Skipping the mentioned scenes above does highlight the Strait Love storyline with Pond and Cha-am which was actually good. However, I’m not a fan of the character Pond.

It almost hit the mark

I placed spoilers at the end of this review.

I was hesitant in watching this series because I was worried that each episode would not be connected to each other. I was thankfully surprised that they are all connected by the characters. However, Studio Wabi Sabi painted themselves into a corner with this series. The 7 songs, 7 episodes concept is not a bad one if it was done well. Unfortunately, the script for many of the episodes felt incomplete. Other than noted, the cast and acting was good.

Breakdown of Each Episode:

Episode 1: Would You Be My Love
This episode has a BL storyline. It had an emotionally moving storyline, but it felt rushed towards the end. See spoiler alert at the end of this review if you want more info.

Episode 2: Rhythm’s Heart
This episode has a Straight Love (SL) storyline with a little twist. It had a cute storyline. This is also where you start to see characters from the other episodes. However, this story also felt rushed. See spoiler alert at the end of this review if you want more info.

Episode 3: Remember
This episode is sort of a GL storyline. It had an interesting storyline, but the script was not the greatest. See spoiler alert at the end of this review if you want more info. This is the first episode that felt complete.

Episode 4: Once Upon a Time
This episode has a BL storyline. It also had an emotionally moving storyline which make sense because it does have ties to episode 1. It also did a great job tying the other episodes together. This is where you get to see how the characters from past, present, and future episodes are linked. Don’t stop watching when the credits appear because there is an extra scene to this episode. However, this ending also felt rushed. See spoiler alert at the end of this review if you want more info.

Episode 5: Breakup Zone
This episode has a SL storyline. Cute story but not the most exciting one. The acting is ok. This is another episode that felt complete.

Episode 6: VS Love
This episode has a BL storyline. It has an interesting storyline where the BL story is secondary. However, it works for this episode. This is also the only BL episode in this series that felt complete

Episode 7: 50% My Puppy Love
This episode has a SL storyline. The storyline is basic, but cute. This is the last episode that felt complete.

Random Note: I noticed that episodes 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 are no longer available in my location on Studio Wabi Sabi’s YouTube channel. Unfortunately, this is probably thanks to iQiyi. According to iQiyi's website, 7Project is only available online on the iQiyi app and iQ.com. I’m not liking the direction Studio Wabi Sabi is heading on how they are releasing their series.

******Spoiler Alert by Episode******

Episode 1: Would You Be My Love
The time jump was random and did not help the storyline. It also ends with an unresolved relationship between Ozone and Sun. You do learn more about their relationship in other episodes, but they could have included it at the end of this one.

Episode 2: Rhythm’s Heart
I like the nod of the problems actors/actresses have to face with fanservice. However, they missed a great opportunity exploring Rhythm’s social anxiety disorder.

Episode 3: Remember
I give them credit for having a GL storyline, but why is it the only episode that has a sad ending. I’m not against sad endings, but they could have balanced this out with some of the other episodes having it to.

Episode 4: Once Upon a Time
I can’t explain it, but the ending just felt incomplete. It was also a weird choice to have the outcome scene after the credits.

Don't Expect Too Much

The story idea was great but it was not greatly implemented. This series starts off very strong but the script falls apart halfway through it. This is unfortunate because it has an outstanding cast with many well-known actors. However, the actors did a great job with what they were given and the cinematography was beautiful.

Random Note:
The ending was too weird and left many loose ends. I could be wrong, but it seems they had plans for a second season but it was probably canceled due to Covid-19.

Must Watch!!!

Wow, this was an outstanding series. This had so many impactful storylines. The best thing about this series is it’s a crime mystery first and a BL series second, which I love. The script has wonderful. It had so many twists and turns to keep you guessing without getting you confused. There are some big surprises towards the end that I did not see coming. All of the actors did an amazing job with portraying their characters. Tul and Max are outstanding actors and have great on-screen chemistry. This series helps show off their acting skills. The cinematography was stunning.

In the Middle

I like the main story concepts, but fell short on the execution. However, it had a nice ending. The acting from most of the cast was ok. Like many Thailand series, it had to many supporting cast members to keep track of. I’m also not a fan of some of the side characters. The English subtitles had grammatical and spelling errors. They also don’t show English subtitles when printed content appears on screen which does not help with the story progression. There are periods when the audio cuts in and out during episodes 9 through 15, but there is still English subtitles.

Just a head-up, this is not a BL movie. The movie was ok, but the script felt unfinished. I also found it difficult to enjoy the movie because of the constant homophobic slurs used. However, the actors were great and the visuals were stunning.

Random note: Although it had its own set of problems, I enjoyed watching the Thailand series version (Baker Boys) more.

This has such an impactful story. It shines a light on the many misconceptions about gay men that society has and how everyone deals differently with confronting it. At the same time, it breaks some stereotypes some may have on certain communities. The acting was outstanding and the cinematography was beautiful. The script was excellent and had a very realistic ending. I only have three criticisms. See the potential spoiler alert at the bottom if you want more info.

******Potential Spoiler Alert******
1st criticism: This is supposed to be a sequel to a series (His - I Didn't Think I Would Fall in Love), but it has no real link to it. It does use the same main characters’ names and gives silent nods to the series (choice of clothing colors for the main characters for example), but that’s it.
2nd criticism: The movie does not completely explain the main characters past relationship. You have to rely on the movie’s description for this (hence the 3rd criticism).
3rd criticism: The description of the move does not completely match what happens in the movie. It mentions various things but does not actually show it in the movie. However, this seems to be a common thing on Viki.

Must watch to left-up your spirit

If you are looking for a lighthearted movie, this is the one for you. This has a beautiful and heartwarming storyline. The script was wonderful and not overly dramatic. You should definitely watch this if you need something to left you up. The series also feels complete, not like some series/movies that introduce a random conflict and even more random conflict resolution. The music was great which is good considering it is about the music industry. They were also good with the music placement throughout the movie. The cinematography was beautiful and they did a really good job with the transition scenes.

Random note: I watched this on Netflix (it’s listed as Wish You) not knowing this was a BL series turned into a movie. If you have a subscription to Netflix, I would recommend watching it on that. The English subtitles are better on Netflix.

Yes, I like this series. However, it was weird at times.

The positive: The cast was great. They did a great job with what they were given. I also like the ending and how they tied up the many storylines.

The negative: It does not know if it should be a comedy or a drama. It seems they did not know which direction to go. There is also no clear main story idea. The script is a bit of a mess and had some discrepancies. Another problem is the logic in the series does not make sense at times. I was also able to predict who was involved with the “mystery” behind the children.

Random note: I watched this series first before I watched the 2008 South Korean film Antique (it’s listed as Antique Bakery on MDL). Baker Boys is not a perfect series but I enjoyed watching it more than the movie.

Great, except for one thing

Warning: This series does deal with the subject of suicide. I know this is a spoiler, but I feel this is an important thing to know before you start watching the series.

I placed all other spoilers at the end of this review.

This series is not for you if you don’t like paranormal storylines. However, this has a very endearing storyline about the different aspects of family and relationships. It also sends a message about the dangers of not communicating with loved ones. It has an excellent script with one exception. See the spoiler alert at the bottom if you want more info. They did a great job switching between the past and the present. The series has an incredible cast with great acting. I like how they kind of made a parody of GMMTV in various episodes and involved some of the artist playing themselves.

******Spoiler Alert******
My only criticism about the script is the soul displacement. I’m not a fan of the soul displacement/shift storyline concept. This aspect of the script caused an unnecessary conflict of having people questioning Tonmai and Tee’s sexuality. This was an element of the series that was really unneeded.

A Zombie Fan Must Watch

I placed spoilers at the end of this review.

If you love the zombie genre, you should watch this series. Not only does it have a solid story concept, it also has a great script. They managed to cover a lot of ground in only 12 episodes. See the potential spoiler alert at the bottom if you want more info. There are also a lot of twists and turns that keep you guessing, but still manage not to confuse you. They did an outstanding job with the cinematograph. The acting was also very good.

******Potential Spoiler Alert******
They managed to explain why and how the virus was created, and how it was spread. The ending is bittersweet and does have a few loose ends. However, there are hints that there may be a second season. One can only hope.

I wouldn’t call it a masterpiece, but it was pretty close.

I placed spoilers at the end of this review.

Overall, this was a very interesting series. The general story concept was great, but the script quality was not consistent. However, it successfully connects multiple story lines and characters together. The ending of the whole series was ok, but it was a little lack luster. However, I liked how they tied up everything in the end.

The positive: The series had a very strong beginning and really knew how to draw you into their world. The areas that the script did very well in were the supernatural and suspense thriller elements. The actors were incredible and did a great job with their characters. The cinematography was stunning and had incredible special effects.

The negative: The big miss for me was the comedy element. It would have been fine if this was your usual series with a high school or college setting. Considering this was supposed to be a more mature series with the police setting, the comedy seemed very out of place. A lot of the humor came across as very juvenile.

The in-between: The romance element was a hit or miss for me. There was just something off with the romantic relationship with all of the characters. The relationship development between the main characters in the beginning was also a little off, but it did get better as the show moved forward. The only two characters I didn’t like were Yai and Dao. The character Yai was very annoying, immature, and unlikable during most of the series. As for the character Dao, she was very irritating.

Random Note:

Don’t stop watching after the ending credits in episode 12 because there is a bonus scene after it.

The location used for the coffee shop scene in episode 4 is the same location used for the restaurant scene in episode 8 of “Step by Step”.

I did not take point off for the obvious money grab maneuver they used for the last episode. I like how all of the series they made at this point address many social issues, but this has tarnished my viewpoint about Idol Factory a little.

*****Spoiler Alert******

Although the ending had one of my most hated story element (time jumps), this is one of those times it made sense and served an actual purpose.

The reunited scene with Tharn and Phaya was a little anticlimactic for me. I would have liked to see a grander way for them to meet again.

The bonus scene is open to interpretation. I don’t know if it was a hint of a second season or the only way for Saint to find a way to make his usual guest spot. Either way, it was cool.

Outstanding!!!

I placed spoilers at the end of this review.

This was an outstanding series. Overall, the script was nicely done and successfully connected multiple elements and characters together. It had a few weak elements, but it did not distract me from enjoying the series. The first episode did a great job giving brief introduction about mental health, as well as the stigma and prejudice society has about it. It tackled so many aspects of mental health in a very considerate way. This series not only showed how it impacts individuals diagnosed with a metal health disorder, it included how it impacts family members and the medical staff caring for them. The series often used a whimsical/fantasy aspect to help represent certain disorders without it being disrespectful. My only critique is that I was not a fan of the romantic storylines. See the spoiler alert at the end of this review if you want more information. The cast was incredible and did a beautiful job portraying their characters. They did a wonderful job with the cinematography and special effects too.

Random Notes:

I anticipated this series since Netflix announced it and happy it didn’t disappoint me.

******Spoiler Alert******

The romantic storyline between Hwang Yeo Hwan and Min Deu Lae was not bad, but felt a little misplaced within the series. The other romantic storyline was slightly bizarre. The series introduced a love triangle between Dong Go Yoon, Jang Da Eun, and Song Yu Chan in the beginning of the series, but then this completely disappeared by the end. However, I was cool with it because I hate love triangle storylines.
