In summer 2018 my K-pop loving daughter came to me and said "you really should watch this Korean TV-show I just watched. I think you'd like it". I was thinking like: "Korean TV-show? " Of course I realized there was such a thing but the thought of watching anything like that hadn't even occurred to me. But since I take pride in at least trying to gave a general idea of my daughters interests in life, I decided that I for the very least should watch an episode or two to see what it was all about.

The show was: "While you were sleeping". And the rest is, as you say, history. Not only was I captured by the drama in itself, but also by the great soundtrack. I got caught so fast and so bad that I surprised myself. This world that opened up before my eyes appealed to a peace of my inner self that I didn't even know existed. Never in any American TV-show (or Swedish TV-show for that matter) had I felt the same connection. And this from watching a drama in a language I didn't even understand! I was amazed. Mesmerized.

My second drama was "Goblin". And this time it got even worse, because this drama was just as good! And the soundtrack as well! I remember thinking: How is it possible that this world has been hidden from me all these years of my life?

Now years has passed and the crush I got on the Korean world of music and dramas those years ago has turned to a lasting love. I've watched a lot of dramas since and I've realized not all are as good as the two I first watched (they still remain as two of the best k-dramas I've ever seen) but the fact remains that (most) k-dramas appeal to me in a way that tv-shows from other parts of the world (including Sweden, my own country) extremely rarely does.

K-pop is still a big part of my music world (however not the only part) and I still watch a lot of K-dramas (even though I watch other TV-series as well). This is a world I share with my daughter, since my wife isn't that amused (she HAS watched a handful of k-dramas with me) and I'm very happy that she opened up this world for me.
