3. Ore no Kawaii wa Mosugu Shohi Kigen!?
Japanese Drama - 2022, 9 episodes
14/06/23 - 07/01/24
Extremely cute feel-good romcom. It's not serious and that's a good thing. Simple but wholesome story, cute main characters, and an overall fun watch!

4. AORB
Korean Special - 2019, 1 episode
08/01/24
Extremely unique. Loved the dystopian scifi setting and the filmography was honestly spectacular for something so short. Most intriguing is obviously the choose-the-ending aspect of it, which was quite interesting and unlike anything I've seen before. It did tread the line between serious and crackfic which was a little strange but still funny.

Amazing. Though it suffered from a handful of issues, most being the short runtime, it was a refreshing and amazing watch, would highly recommend. The sword fights/fight scenes were fantastic, the setting was unique and the plot was interesting! I really enjoyed the urban fantasy premise, it looked like an anime in the best way.

An interesting drama. I really enjoyed the sci-fi setting as well as the production value which was amazing (CGI, cinematography, locations, etc). Unfortunately, all the characters suffered from being very stupid and the plot went downhill with weak villains which made the second half of the drama quite mediocre... Still enjoyed it.

An absolutely stunning drama with great production and a stellar OST to accompany a compelling plot and unique characters (with a well-written and refreshing FL)! The romance is so mature, character relationships and dynamics are all interesting as is the plot, all tied in wonderfully by a compelling and well-executed villain! Also strong on the feminism and has very good representation of women (as villains, heroes, and anything in between!). So worth the watch!

Overall very solid drama but unfortunately seemed to be more interested in plot twists than character development. Main antagonist's goals and overall character was lackluster and the narrative edged viewers constantly, focusing more attention on red herrings and plot twists than a cohesive and fulfilling narrative. 33. Ready, Set, Love
Thai Drama - 2024, 6 episodes
20/03/24 - 25/03/24
Kudos for the attempt? It was an alright romcom, pretty much all the couples were cute, however, the overall writing was unfortunately extremely mediocre. The plot makes little sense, the stakes are low, actors are meh, the characters are 2D cliches that we barely get to know, the plot is overambitious with social commentary and an extreme premise and it delivers on none of it. They mixed two vastly different stories into one which just made a weird combo that's just disappointing and extremely lacking

Not too bad. Started out promising but ultimately fell short. The romance felt quite disjointed from the rest of the story and the climax was kinda glossed over and the ending felt inconclusive. 37. Strangers from Hell
Korean Drama - 2019, 10 episodes
13/04/24 - 16/04/24
For such a highly rated drama, I must say I was disappointed. The best way I can describe it is as pretentious. The story tries and thinks itself to be clever but it's honestly just badly lacking. The drama somehow manages to be too slow while still making things rushed. Side characters are only plot devices, final bait and switch was cheap to say the least, story progression didn't make a whole lot of sense, the list goes on... Acting was by far the highlight, I am literally in awe with everyone's performance.

Watched it without watching the prequel. Overall, it's an alright minidrama. Something about the two lead actors makes them very shippable with their costars so that was very nice. Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes
06/03/24 - 03/05/24
Ngl... disappointed... Maybe it's 'cause everyone hyped it up so much but the fanon version of the drama was better than the actual drama. Lead couple were adorable, ML was a 10, FL yelled a lot which got old but I liked her otherwise. Other than them and their dynamic (and effortless flirting and chemistry)... I liked the brief story between the princess and the assassin and the overarching feminist message. Everything else overstayed its welcome after the first couple of scenes. An excess of supporting characters that only add overbearing humour and occupy a lot of screen time at the cost of the MCs, so much toilet humour... like so much, an irritating (yet fairly tame compared to other dramas) love triangle, a villain which was lame and insufferable the first time only to be brought back a SECOND time, painfully low stakes, MCs luck out at every turn... etc... etc... I know it's a comedy and maybe I'm overthinking it, but I've watched plenty of historical cdrama romcoms that aren't nearly as irritating as this one. I really wanted to like it, I tried but I couldn't

Interesting story, especially the plot twist but unfortunately subpar execution. I'm usually quite tolerant of low budget dramas but this was bad in ways it shouldn't have been. Acting was largely really bad, dialogue was unbearably mediocre or outright initiating (the amount of "huh"s or "what"s that are included with long pauses is shocking). Even at x1.5 speed it was too slow

Honestly can't believe this flew so under the radar... It's so much more than just another crime/thriller. It has everything that makes a great drama, interesting and fleshed out characters, good dynamics, strong and intimidating villains, good fight scenes, very good OST, great performances, intriguing plots and ESPECIALLY interesting plot twists-- My complaints are mostly nitpicks (like yeah, it's paced more like a mystery/thriller than a crime/thriller). A pleasant surprised. I enjoyed the performances, the plot, ideas, etc. The fantasy world especially was so unique, I would've loved a full length drama or even movie just about that. The cinematography and CGI was also phenomenal. The biggest downside was the fact that it basically follows two different narratives which it didn't need to and doesn't end up adding a whole lot. Also how we get very little context as to what is happening and why both in the beginning and in the end. After everything we still don't really know what's going on or why...

It felt like watching a documentary but with more narrative structure (not a lot). Visually breathtaking, stunning cinematography, great acting, good fight scenes & production value, etc, etc. The story however was... every distant. It really felt like reading a textbook. We learn little to nothing about the characters' wants, goals, morals, etc. Things kinda happen without a whole lot of context and then aren't really resolved. Character moments aren't that prominent, a lot of the show takes place in fields with only ML who we still don't learn a whole lot from... yeah, unfortunately not that engaging.

Interesting premise, some interesting plot twists but overall, very mediocre. Not the worst minidrama out there but definitely not a good watch either. Very messy.

64. Xing Xing! Cheng Zhu Da Ren
Chinese Drama - 2024, 25 episodes
21/07/24
Messy plot with a needless amount of back-and-forth between what's really going on with FL's identity which is just overly convoluted in a minidrama. I still somehow liked the ending despite the lack of clarity about the relationship. The rr was present but not as much as I would've liked.

Short and teeth-rotting adorable. It's a simple and fluffy watch while still telling an interesting story. The premise is unique enough to get you interested and the drama is cute enough to keep you staying. It helps that it's under 30 minutes so it's a quick watch (and could've easily been longer)

Cute concept. Nothing wow overall. It has some cute life lessons and I thought the cat-like behaviour was quite adorable but it's very short so overall okay.

Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes

So good! Bold, interesting, and heartwarming. I honestly wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did. I really liked the perspective and the underlying themes regarding other social issues (inclusivity, rejecting gender roles, rejecting labels, etc). Very daring choice and honestly so lovely executed!

Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
27/03/24 - 11/08/24
Thoroughly thrilling. The characters and dynamics were a highlight. Loved ML's character development and how everything unfolded. The ending was a bit lackluster though, antagonists won until the last 5 minutes, why bother. FL dying of sudden disease was good plot-twist but I wasn't feeling it. On me, though. Loved the main theme!

Loved the fantasy world and the setting, plus the premise was fun. Characters were honestly so hilarious. I especially loved the baby-obsessed noblewoman xD Main couple were cute and their dynamic + the kid was adorable. Overall a cute watch but nothing special.

Thai Drama - 2023, 4 episodes
25/08/24 - 27/08/24
Overall lacking. The horror, occult, story and conclusion were serviceable, the cinematography and editing were very good. Everything else was mid to bad. Actors overacted, not a fan of the adult/minor dynamic parading as romance and how it was approached, the audio editing was bad, and a lot of the plot didn't make sense.

Seemed to be heavily focused on praising Win (ML's actor) which got a little old. Especially when Prim (FL's actress) got so little attention by comparison. Same with all other supporting actors and crew.

Overall very solid. A bit lacking in the horror aspect and terribly lacking in the villain department. Some of the dumbest goofiest villains I've seen in a while. Everything else was most enjoyable. Loved the characters (ML was especially a pleasant surprise), the plot, cinematography, thrill, etc.

Where to even start? Interesting leads, phenomenal performances across the board, side characters that are interesting and matter, a world that feels vivid and real, good theme song, beautiful shots, quite a thorough level of realism, formidable and badass villains, high stakes, interesting drama, shippable romance, wholesome bromance, strong female characters... was a bit slow and the ending especially wasn't quite as strong as the rest of the rest of the drama but I'm very satisfied with this watch and would recommend!!

Thai Movie - 2023

Honestly not even sure why I watched this. Ended up using it for the MDL watch challenge but my god, I don't think I liked anything about this drama save for maybe the outfits?? God, everything was so awful. The plot, 'comedy', acting, delivery, dialogue, themes, messages, progression, romance, hell, even the portrayal of certain stuff seemed sketch at best. Ended up watching it at x2 speed and ffing and it was STILL too long

Heartwarming and LOVELY!!! Such a good take on RR with the actual height difference, augh. I loved how they approached serious topics through a fairly lighthearted lens and showed the difficulties of gender roles. That dance scene at the end between the two leads where they switched the roles??? 10000/10!!!! Will definitely go back and watch that again

89. Zi Chuan
Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes
12/06/24 - 23/09/24
Started out very strong but after the midway point became exceptionally tedious. Not as much brotherhood as I had hoped (though what was there was endearing), excruciatingly long war strategies, mediocre music, draggy love plots, pointless side characters, lackluster attention to female characters, open-ending (yeah, ik there'll be a 'season' 2 but still), and tonal whiplash (from extremely dark to cringe comedy). The setting however was very cool, quite refreshing for historical fantasy cdramas, SML was awesome, loved his character and his dynamic with his wife (<33).

Very interesting. I love the over-the-top dramatic setting, it's unlike anything I've watched before. The fight scenes were very cool and especially the parkour scene was epic! Story was alright, definitely interesting but overall rushed and left inconclusive. A pleasant surprise nevertheless, if one ignores the various sexist/pervy moments which were ENTIRELY unnecessary and a big yikes (I will also say that I thought FL's role in the story was going to be different from what it actually was... She's not nearly as assertive nor badass as she seems in the posters)

Really not what I was expecting. The drama had a lot of good things for sure but it doesn't hold a candle to A Familiar Stranger (by the same writer & director duo). As far as those micro tiktok dramas go, this one wasn't bad. ML did really good and the plot was fairly coherent. Hell, even the relationship progression was somewhat believable. The worst offender has to be the constant product placement T-T but even that was somehow woven into the plot so it could've been worse.

96. Unforgettable Love: Extra Story
Chinese Special - 2021, 1 episode
04/10/24
Didn't watch the drama so maybe it's super cute as an extra but as a standalone, very mid. 1/3 of the runtime is spent on a montage from the drama and the, another 1/3 is spent on a setup and the leads only interreact for the remaining 1/3 T-T It was also NOT rr which was the only reason I watched it. I'll rewatch it should I ever choose to watch the drama and see what I think of it then.
