Korean LGBT+ Main & Side Characters/Romances
LGBT+ representation in K-Dramas (and also Korean movies, but mainly K-Dramas) is few and far between. That's why I decided to make this list. There is progression, and though it's very slow, I want to highlight Korea specifically for taking steps in the right direction.
I'll put a few movies on here. But, mostly just dramas.

Recommended Resources for Indie/Hard-to-Find Queer Korean Content:
Strongberry (on YouTube). They mainly make short films, but they're generally high quality.
GagaOOLala. If a Korean LGBT+ short film can't be found on YouTube, it's probably here.

Disclosure: I, myself, am Bi Ace (Biromantic Asexual)
This list is not just for me, by the way. It's for all of you guys! And you're more than welcome to leave suggestions in the form of a comment or even send me a message, regardless if we are friends or not.
Will contain spoilers, at least regarding a character's sexuality/gender. May or may not contain other spoilers; I will attempt to keep it just to what is related to the rep. You have been warned!

101. The Circumstances of Pungdeok Villa Room 304
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
#101
Main romance between two MLs (Seo Jae Yoon & Ji Ho Joon). Also features a cameo appearance by the openly Gay singer Holland.
Regarding Jae Yoon, he says he's Gay himself and, before falling for Ho Joon, has long-time unrequited feelings for his close friend, SML Seung Seok.
Regarding Ho Joon, before meeting Jae Yoon he has a lot of casual relationships with women but nothing serious. In Ep 5 he says to his father, "Weirdly, I don't have any interest in women these days," and in Ep 6 a SFL friend of his says to him, "You had a lot of women, but you never truly loved someone." This was originally leading me to believe the most accurate label for him would be Bisexual Homoromantic (he is sexually attracted to men and women but only romantically attracted to men). However, after the confession scene in Ep 7 I believe he's Pansexual. He tells Jae Yoon "I don't care if you are a man. I like you a lot, Seo Jae Yoon." I think over the course of the drama he has come to the realization that gender does not play a factor for him. So, Pansexual.

102. Les Garçons, Soyez Courageux !
Korean Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
#102
Main romance between two MLs, as well as features a Queer SFL, Kang Hye Jin (she at one point pursues Kim Jin Woo as well as, in Ep 5, admits to having feelings for her female friend, an ex of ML Jung Ki Sub; she is also later finally successful in pursuing her outright as she is seen dating her in the finale).
Regarding the rep: I swear, like everyone was Queer/Pan here! While the two main MLs, Jung Ki Sub and Kim Jin Woo, never outright define their sexuality, they dated/expressed attraction to both women and men as well as just seemed open to dating any gender, and the vibes were just *so Pan* So, you know what, I'm calling it and saying they're Pan! Fight me!
My thoughts on the drama itself: This was such a refreshing firework of a drama! The two leads, in particular, made it crazy fun to watch with their so-far-out-there-they-might-as-well-be-floating-in-space personalities that were only heightened when they shared the same air. And they were consistently predictable yet unpredictable, leaving me either correct in my predictions while also being pleasantly befuddled at the path taken or both puzzled beyond belief and amused. Meanwhile, the side couple offered something unique with the often overlooked issue of financial inequality in a relationship and the myriad of ways it can affect it, including self-inflicted shame, pressure, and guilt.
It was a true delight tuning into Boys Be Brave. I highly recommend giving it a go! Especially if you're into "quirky" characters and dramas. Can be found on Rakuten Viki

103. Love Mate
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
#103
Main romance between two MLs. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't an issue here. Like at all.
My thoughts on the drama itself: This is what happens when you combine a tightly-written script that allows believable overthinking and anxiety as well as understandable conflicts and resolutions to be illustrated, crisp colors, and pleasant background music, with charming actors who can authentically portray both mortification and cuteness.
Really, the biggest criticism I have is the "villain." While anger-inducing, I found them underdeveloped.
This short little K-BL took over a corner in my heart while it was airing. I'm sad to see it end.
Brownie Points: Masterful casual touching and a refreshingly easy confession. Can be found on Rakuten Viki or GagaOOLala

104. WISH YOU : Your Melody in My Heart
Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
#104
Main romance between two MLs. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't an issue here.
Brownie Points: The OST is everything! Might be why my rating is so high . . . But we won't investigate that!
Consent Highlight: Does not kiss him while he is passed out and also far too drunk like you see in so many dramas.
Also, goes in for a kiss that appeared to be very much welcome/initiated by him and upon noticing that it isn't reciprocated (in that moment at least) does not continue, immediately apologizes, and leaves. Can we say reading the situation properly?

105. Color Rush
Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
#105
Main romance between two MLs.
Yeon Woo says, "I don't care who it is." It's sort of a coin flip if this would be Bi or Pan. But, I'm leaning toward Pan.
Brownie Points: One of the most unique concepts I've seen in a drama. It deserves a watch just for the interesting world it introduces.

106. Où tes yeux s'attardent
Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes

Arguably the first K-BL, as well as the first mainstream/popular K-BL.
My thoughts on the drama itself: Hard to get through. But, I mean that in the best possible way.

107. Love Tractor
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
#107
Main romance between two MLs. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't an issue here.
My thoughts on the drama itself: This! This is how you make a short K-BL that not only doesn't stick to clichés and tropes and has a plot that flows smoothly but is also hilarious, warm, and bubbly.
Trust that I will most definitely be revisiting this little drama in the future for some needed giggles and abrupt bursts of laughter. Also, the kiss? *applause*
Side Note: I just want to express my love for Village Head Ma for being such a wonderful and supportive best friend to Ye Chan. This man was a wisdom-filled golden lab retriever brought to life and I was SO there for it.

108. Love Class Season 2
Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
#108
Main romance between two MLs and two side romances between two MLs, respectively. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't much of an issue here.
My thoughts on the drama itself: Before this came out, I wondered why on earth they would make a second season when things were already wrapped up—mainly from the belief that the couple from season one would be returning and starring in this. Later, I found it a little confusing with three couples to keep up with, but not too shabby for a second season no one really asked for. Then, it ultimately grew on me, and I fell so far head over heels for two of the couples I faceplanted on the pavement and just lay there in agonizing pain refusing any help to get me on my feet.
Like, let me tell you, the chemistry? The surprising darkness that shifted the tone but somehow didn't throw me off-kilter? The fucking real-ass vulnerable moments and careful expressions? The sheer cheesiness and cuteness? Ahhhhh! It was SO good.
If you haven't guessed it already, I recommend this. Like, just for loyal, knows what he wants, and hilarious to a fault, Ma Roo, you have to check this out. Man is if the last two brain cells and a golden retriever were next to each other, got struck by lightning, and became a human, but in the best way possible.

109. Peach of Time
Korean Drama - 2021, 10 episodes
#109
Main romance between two MLs. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't an issue here.
Also, it's a K-Drama but heavily features the Thai language since one of the MLs is Thai.
My thoughts on the drama itself: Often very sad but emotionally compelling. It wasn't all sad, though; it was also very sweet and calm, with a bit of hopefulness sprinkled in.
The twists were good, and they knew when to give us a break from more hard-hitting moments and when they could bring it back in.
It was also interesting to see a Thai and Korean actor and couple on screen. It felt like a drama that was a bit in each culture but leaned more toward Korean. I hadn't seen the Korean ML in anything before, so I'm not sure if this is his first project or not. Either way, he did an amazing job!
You can bet I will be coming back to watch this again <3

110. Gray Currents
Korean Drama - 2024, 5 episodes
#110
Main romance between two MLs.
My thoughts on the drama itself: It's all empty space and frustratingly suffocating. Like wearing a wool turtleneck on a winter's day. You ache and long to tear the thing off, but it's just so bitterly cold.
The intro itself was a work of art. There and throughout the drama, I particularly appreciated the use of shadows and temperature. Not to mention, the actors did an amazing job. I found myself so weighed down by their emotions I felt like I was sinking.
I found the conclusion both unique and fitting. It ended with an understanding: We need to be on equal footing first, independent of each other, to sort through these muddled thoughts and feelings. Then, perhaps, we can . . .Can be found on iQiyi

111. Love Class
Korean Drama - 2022, 6 episodes
#111
Main romance between two MLs.
Cha Ji Woo is probably Bi, though I could see an argument being made for him being Pan. I'm leaning toward Bi though. He likes Yu Na (FL) at first before he later falls for Lee Ro A (ML). He doesn't mention anything specifically about his sexuality though. It reminded me of how easily Kieta Hatsukoi did this too. He liked a girl at first and now likes a guy. Simple.
The romance itself was actually something that came very late in the drama but was still natural. It didn't feel like it popped out of nowhere.
I really liked how Cha Ji Woo quietly grew feelings for Lee Ro A. You notice these little looks he gives him and these moments where he stops to think.
I think this was great. It was delightfully simple. And sometimes that's all you need.

112. Happy Ending Romance
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
#112
Main romance between two MLs, with a not-really love triangle. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't an issue here.
My thoughts on the drama itself: It's definitely a quality drama. The team behind it cared about what they were making, and you could tell. They had a specific style in mind, evident from the color palette. Jung Woo's world is listless, drained, and hollow. And so the world we see is made of muted colors, conversations go round and round, and the days seem to repeat.
I found the commentary on passiveness and possessiveness interesting, as well as the under-the-radar—at least to the character—manipulation (you could see how, over time, one would give in).
Something just felt missing. I can't put a name to it. And I wanted more of the love-triangle aspect. The trailers and teasers made it seem like it would play a significant role. Unfortunately, we were fooled.Consent Highlight: Specifically during Ep 7. They're having a deep conversation and Tae Young, after stating his feelings again, asks Jung Woo:
"I can move forward, right?"
Jung Woo smiles and then they both make direct and intentional eye contact before leaning in for a kiss.

113. Jazz for Two
Korean Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
#113
Main romance between two MLs.
My thoughts on the drama itself: This drama and the characters truly shined the most in tension-filled moments where it felt as though all the air had been sucked out of the room. I also rather appreciated the consistency of the character's flaws/toxic behaviors, with there also being guilt and growth. Also, the fake-out conflict being resolved through thoughtful perspective and acceptance? Loved that. More not dragging things out for added drama and instead having a main lead think rationally, please!
Based on this drama's description, I expected less than average—to not be excited at the prospect of seeing the story progress. I was glad to find I could lose myself in Jazz for Two for a while.
All this praise aside, I wish the curtains closed more smoothly on this drama. At least ten extra minutes were desperately needed to tie up the side character's stories as well as allow a smoother transition as to where the main leads ended up. When the credits started rolling, I legit thought I was being punked. I was like, "Come on, there's got to be five more minutes left, right? Did I skip ahead?!"
All in all, I would recommend it. Just keep your expectations moderate. Can be found on iQiyi, GagaOOLala (with a VPN in Taiwan), or on free websites

114. Bon Appetit
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
#114
Main romance between two MLs. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't an issue here.
My thoughts on the drama itself: There were many awkward moments, but they could also turn around and be quite charming in their own way.
Not as touching as say "Love Tractor" but a rather sweet and appreciative nod to "She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat."
Overall, I'd probably recommend it for a binge with a nice cup of tea.

116. Unintentional Love Story
Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
#116
Main romance between two MLs.
Regarding Tae Joon, the man is undeniably Bi! And confident about it! He doesn't actually say he's Bisexual, but it is very easy to tell. He even says, and I quote, "But just because it's a man, you don't think I'll feel the same?"
Regarding Won Young, he goes through a Bi-awakening (could also be Pan or Queer though, though I don't think that's the case) courtesy of Tae Joon. What was refreshing was how confident he was about showing affection in public once he accepted himself and his feelings.
My thoughts on the drama itself: Not gonna lie, the first episode was kind of difficult to get through. The introduction of the premise and future conflict was so stereotypical that nearly every line could be predicted. But, it did grow on me, surprisingly. In particular, I liked the way they explored Won Young's realization of his sexuality. It was quite well-executed. And I also enjoyed the tension between the two MLs. Finally, I will say that I found the typical "turn" in the story to actually be fairly convincing and fitting for the characters rather than just a way to extend the length of the drama.
So, in short, this was sometimes charming, but nothing fantastic or note-worthy. Not necessarily a skip, but nothing to lose sleep or drop responsibilities for.
Oh, right! The side couple! Yeah, sorry, I forgot about them just like the drama. Can be found on iQiyi

117. All the Liquors
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
#117
Main romance between two MLs. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't an issue here.
My thoughts on the drama itself: The story itself was nothing much: One silly and cheerful lead, through convenient circumstances, weasels their way into the other lead's rather dreary existence, and, somewhere along the way, they fall in love. What stood out at points was the crazy chemistry, nice cinematography, and overall feel-good moments.
But, again, this had the same issue as Individual Circumstances: Unfulfilling and/or unconvincing kisses.
Like, I'm not asking for a full-on makeout. It can even be an awkward kiss as long as you intentionally frame it that way. But don't give me good build-up, palpable tension, intense eye contact, and great body language only to not deliver. That just stings. Can be found on Rakuten Viki or GagaOOLala

Main romance between two MLs, while also (because of reincarnation) heavily featuring a past female love interest.
The main ML, Yeon Seok, is definitely Pan. Ep 5 makes it perfectly clear in my book:
Mikael to Yeon Seok: "What do you like about him so much? Is it because it's Jeong Ha Yeon that you've been looking for since the past lives?"
Yeon Seok: "Just because it's Jeong Ha Yeon. He's not as firm as he used to be, and goofier than ever. He's a man. He's like a different person. Even so, I just like him."

123. Cherry Blossoms After Winter
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
#123
Main romance between two MLs.
I feel like this is between a 7.5/10 and an 8/10 for me. It has charm to it, the characters did have some depth, they didn't try to romanticize or glamorize a forced scene, the couple was legitimately sweet together, and I liked that they didn't play into my expectations as to how Haebom would act and what his dynamic between him and Taesung would be like.
But, I don't know. I just didn't feel like this had a lot of character to it.

Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
#125
Main romance between two MLs, with a not-really love triangle.
Regarding Seon Ho, I loved how they showed his Bi-Awakening (I won't spoil it). It felt light and fun while also being very relatable. Also, *gasp* they said the word! Multiple times!
Regarding Mu Yeong, he is shown to have been attracted to men since he was younger and remained strong while dealing with bullying and Homophobia in school.
My thoughts on the drama itself: This was something easy and silly. Not as enjoyable or intriguing as, say, Roommates of Poongduck 304, but something fun to pass the time. I did find the "misunderstanding" more annoying than others, though. It was too easily solved!

128. Eccentric Romance
Korean Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
#128
Main romance between two MLs.
My thoughts on the drama itself: It was a bit awkward in terms of pacing/line delivery from the side characters, but when they focused on just the two leads bouncing off of each other, it was quite natural. I could buy that they were not only incredibly close friends, but so close they were edging toward the line.
And for a co-production between Thailand and Korea, it wasn't half bad. Compared to past offerings, it was leagues above them. Sure, Jay's entire circle of friends/acquaintances conveniently understood Thai perfectly while he understood Korean, so they almost never spoke the other's language, and thus, conversations were never a hassle for him. But it was honestly SO easy for him to communicate with everyone that it felt like the drama was aware of how ridiculous it was and was playing on it.
As for the "murder mystery," it was pretty ridiculous. But this drama was never meant to be some cinematic masterpiece or truly balance surprising darkness in an otherwise light story like either season of Love Class. No, it was created to be something silly and entertaining. And, you know what? I'm okay with that. Overall, I had a decent time.
I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it. But I won't yell, "You're making a mistake!" if you decide to spend your time watching this instead of something else.

129. Ocean Like Me
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
#129
Main romance between two MLs. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't an issue here.
We have an actual Gay person playing a Gay ML!!! A.K.A. Holland playing Tommy. Real representation! And the fact that it's someone I know is amazing. I'm really happy for Holland. He was the first (or at least he's called the first) K-Pop Idol to come out.
Showing both MLs' sexualities was really easy here. Tommy is clearly interested in Han Ba Da and Ba Da has an Ex-boyfriend.
As far as the drama itself, it was nice. Nothing special or memorable though. My rating is probably a bit generous.

My thoughts on the drama itself: It had its shining moments of good chemistry and tension and memorable lines. But, overall, it was kind of just there. Once I got to the end, my reaction was, "That's it?" I don't know; I felt it was missing something story-wise. It doesn't linger in my mind at all.

134. A Shoulder to Cry On
Korean Drama - 2023, 7 episodes
#134
Main romance between two MLs.
I'm going to put my review here as I can't seem to word my thoughts about this drama any other way:
This was kind of all over the place. There were some moments of good acting and good chemistry, but overall, if I had to describe this to someone, I would say it felt like a conversation that got beat around the bush continuously. And for the life of me, I cannot comprehend the reason for the time skip! Like, why?
Really, I would say this is a skip. I honestly stuck it out because I wanted to support OMEGA X (the MLs are from that K-Pop group) after finding out they had to go through what they did at their company.
Side Note: It's getting pity points because I would feel bad rating it any lower.

135. Bump Up Business
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
#135
Main romances between MLs.
My thoughts on the drama itself: Is my rating honest? No. In reality, it's more like a generous 7. But I love my LGBT+ supporting kings OnlyOneOf, and I would just cry if I rated a drama they starred in any lower than an 8, okay?! So forgive me for fudging the numbers! I am a person with feelings!
All this being said, just because I won't rate it honestly doesn't mean I won't review it honestly.
It makes sense that the acting here wouldn't be stellar; they were all new to this. Credit where credit is due, though, Nine and Mill managed to pull off some pretty decent chemistry with their characters despite not being given a lot to work with. However, the editing, story beats, and pacing desperately needed work, and there is no excuse for that. Many times, when scenes continued, they would abruptly cut to new locations or would skip forward a few hours, giving the watcher this uncomfortable feeling of being rushed. Also, more screen time should have been devoted to showing more of the leads spending quality time together rather than talking about or cutting to very brief clips of it. As they say with books, "Show, don't tell." Finally, did we need the scheming ex? No, we did not.
All in all, could have been a lot better. Can be found on iQiyi

The romance itself was delightfully awkward and cute. Because this was a lower-budget project I actually found the two leads to be very natural, I think it worked to their advantage in that respect.
This won't be for everyone because of the oftentimes cringey humor though.

137. Blue Boys Part 2
Korean Drama - 2024, 4 episodes
#137
Continuing main romance between two MLs.
My thoughts on the drama itself: I find this resolution . . . Fairly acceptable, considering what happened and didn't happen with regard to the final conflict. Jae Min took accountability for his actions and even where his emotions were heading. And Nam Yi was rightly harsh in his honesty about why he was hurt and what Jae Min did wrong. They're going to need to work together to stay strong in their relationship.

143. Happy Merry Ending
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
#143
Main romance between two MLs. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't an issue here.
My thoughts on the drama itself: This was just a mess, plain and simple.
First off, this should have been a movie. The pacing would still be absolutely ridiculous, but at least not as noticeable as in drama format. Not to mention, the characters' conflicts and feelings come and go whenever necessary but not in any flowing or sensical way.
Really, only these positives come to mind: The leads' pretty faces, nice singing voices, and good kissing scenes. Nothing else.
Near the end, I felt so detached I would liken it to the experience of an AI robot trying to understand human emotions.
I honestly wonder if they made this just for the OST; otherwise, I can't see a point in its existence.
This is definitely a skip, my friends. I finished it only because I felt obligated to.Can be found on GagaOOLala or Rakuten Viki

My thoughts on the drama itself: It gave . . . Nothing. I couldn't get invested or find it within me to care about the story or any of the characters in the slightest.
This could have been basic but sweet and warm, at the very least, like Tasty Florida or Ocean Like Me. But no, they couldn't even do that.
Side Note: Those magic translating earbuds were SO convenient they drove me insane. Never was the language barrier a problem at all!
Just skip it. Don't bother. I wasted my time FOR you.Can be found on Rakuten Viki

Yeon Woo was either Bi or Pan in the original Color Rush (I leaned toward Pan) so I suppose that carries over here, though it should be noted isn't addressed or touched on at all in this second season.
I don't feel it's worth the watch. Not only is the original obviously so much better but it says and shows more regarding the main ML's sexuality.

158. The Time of Fever
Korean Movie - 2024
#158
Main romance between two MLs.
My thoughts on the movie itself: A longing that in its infancy couldn't be realized. Brimming over with desire and shame, The Time of Fever captured the curiosity, confusion, and fear that often come with the experience of young love for Queer people. Chosen isolation, violent battles waged alone in your mind, denial, hesitant steps forward before sprinting away, jealousy, and parental abuse/distance.
The cinematography and sound design lent themselves to becoming the two MLs' senses, directing our attention to where their attention was. When Dong Hee picks up on Ho Tae's breathing and everything else goes quiet, when in a tension-filled moment, after allowing his gaze to linger, Ho Tae notices Dong Hee's eyes nervously flitting away from his own. The overwhelming grip of Ho Tae's hand on Dong Hee's shoulder, the taste of citrus on Dong Hee's tongue, and the scent of rain surrounding them and soaking both their clothes.
I was beckoned in and captured. Every moment was raw and real enough to make my own breath stop or send a shiver down my spine.
The only reason I considered giving this less than a 10/10 is because it sparked a longing in ME for more.

159. Night Flight
Korean Movie - 2014
#159
Main romance between two MLs.
I recommend this IF you can handle it. Read the tags first. This was an important but one-time watch for me for good reason.
You know when it feels like things are maybe going okay or are actually somewhat good and then reality splashes you in the face with a bucket of freezing cold water and then punches you a few times for good measure just to make sure you felt it? That's this movie.
Well done, sadly realistic, and impactful. But, did it have to hurt so fucking bad?
It's not a movie to sit back and enjoy but more a movie to either educate yourself, make you cry, and/or shed light on the harshness that someone else is likely experiencing/has experienced just because they existed. Can be found on YouTube

160. Drama Festival 2014: The Diary of Heong Yeong Dang
Korean Special - 2014, 1 episode
#160
Features a Gay ML, Kim Sang Yun, who has feelings for his adoptive brother, Kim Hong Yeon.
After watching this, it is my belief that by the end of this special Hong Yeon finally came to terms with the fact that he truly loved Sang Yun. Before this, he also expressed affection for FL Min Hoe Jeong, which leads me to believe he is Bisexual.
My thoughts on the special itself: The costumes and sets looked cheap more often than not, but the performances from the actors (as well as the well-written dialogue) made up for it tenfold. I was truly moved.

161. Drama Special Season 14: TV Cinema - Shadow Confession
Korean Special - 2023, 1 episode
#161
Features a Gay ML, Yoon Ho, and a more-than-likely Queer ML, Jae Woon, as well as more-than-implied mutual feeling between the two main MLs.
Regarding Yoon Ho, it's clear that he has had feelings for Jae Woon for quite some time. As for Jae Woon, when Yoon Ho dresses up as a courtesan woman to secretly confess to him if you read between the lines of what Jae Woon says and put it all together once you finish the special and know for certain that Jae Woon knew it was Yoon Ho the entire time, I think it's more than clear he also loved him.
Jae Woon's responses to Yoon Ho:
When Yoon Ho puts his appearance down while in disguise: "You're more beautiful than any other woman I have seen."
When Yoon Ho asks Jae Woon to turn around and stay still for a moment as he approaches him from behind:
Jae Woon: "Is it . . . Something about my back? I had a friend . . . Who would always walk behind my back quietly. You're doing the same . . . So I thought I would ask."
Yoon Ho: "Is it someone close?"
Jae Woon: "Yes. He's a friend . . . That's like a brother . . . No, he's just . . . Yoon Ho."
At the very end of the special, we get a revealing flashback to when Yoon Ho was lying down after not feeling well, and Jae Woon had brought him a flower. It turns out that Jae Woon was secretly looking at him in a romantic way. When he reached out and touched Yoon Ho's lips, he saw that he was waking and hurriedly backed away and pretended he was reading a book. To me, this just sealed the deal on what was otherwise clear if you paid attention.
My thoughts on the special itself: Artistic and tragic, this was a beautiful albeit heartbreaking watch. If only they lived in a different time, in a different place, where they could speak their feelings aloud without fear. And hold hands in the flesh, not as shadows on a wall.

163. Between Complete and Incomplete
Korean Movie - 2021
#163
Main romance between three MLs in a Polyamorous relationship, including an Asexual ML.
The rep is strong here. It's just . . . Chef's kiss.
Seriously. This was such an honest, knowledgeable, and respectful portrayal of Asexuality. Not everyone who identifies as Asexual has the same boundaries in a romantic and/or sexual relationship (Asexuality is a sexuality in itself but also an umbrella term, just something to keep in mind). Some are comfortable with some physical contact while others find it completely revolting, some are okay with sexual acts and/or occasional sex while others aren't, and some may want to try something outside of their comfort zone/experiment while others don't. It is a spectrum.Just . . . Go watch it!

164. S.O.S
Korean Movie - 2015
#164
Features an Asexual FL.
Wow! This was a short film unlike any I've seen. The way they incorporated the colors of the Ace flag, placed you in the position of feeling like the woman during physical intimacy: crawling in your skin while hoping time speeds up, the quiet symbolism in the background. It was all so well-portrayed. I felt this truly spoke to the Ace experience.
Unlike some, I had a bit of a different interpretation regarding what the colors and, ultimately, the ending meant. The FL obviously dons the colors for the Ace flag, and then we have black and white. The Lesbian she meets up with and has sex with wears white, and her Straight boyfriend (and other assumed non-Queer people) wears black. By the end of the film, she gets in an elevator surrounded by people in black and chooses to zip up her black hoodie, declaring she is also black. To me, white represents the Queer Allosexual side, and black represents the Cis Hetero Allosexual (or Non-Queer Allosexual side, if you will). While she is truly Ace, she decides to conceal it. She could cover herself in white, but that would come with many more obstacles than if she took up the black mantle and blended in with the majority. Either way, she is concealing who she is; one comes with society's acceptance, though, making it the safer option. Can be found on GagaOOLala

166. Triple - Do You Want?
Korean Movie - 2020
#166
Features three different beginnings of couples with the same premise/storyline, only one of which is Straight.
Surprisingly the limited dialogue made it much more interesting. They were able to play more with tone, spacing, and atmosphere. It was also very interesting to see how the 3 different couples' actors changed up the lines in small, but subtly beautiful ways. This has to be the best short film I have seen in years.

167. Finger
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
#167
Features a Lesbian SFL, Im Mok Won. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't an issue here.
The "reveal" scene to the audience is shown in Ep 2 through Mok Won flirting with a woman at a bar, with her later getting dropped off at home while the woman tries to get her number, to no avail. She came across as very "chill." Her attraction to women is casually brought up a few times later with her friends, and she also has a bit of a love interest.
With her innate style and intelligence/competence while everyone else scrambled, I can definitely see why she was a fan favorite. She was certainly mine amid this dark and hopeless drama.
Overall, I was satisfied with the rep here. I can't say I'd recommend you watch it because of the rep, though. Or, honestly, recommend the drama just for its own merits. It was just . . . Too horrible for what felt like no reason to me.
My thoughts on the drama itself: It was deeply unsettling and disturbing, and made me feel an uncomfortable crawling in my skin. Undeniably, it was well-acted and shot to have made me have such a visceral reaction to it. Beyond that, I don't see what I'm supposed to have gotten from this drama, if anything.
Can't say I'd recommend it, to anyone, really. Can be found on Netflix

168. Matrimonial Chaos
Korean Drama - 2018, 32 episodes
#168
Features a Lesbian SFL, SFL Kang Ma Ru's roommate. Unfortunately, I was unable to find out this character's name.
From what I was able to read, Kang Ma Ru, FL Hwi Ru's younger sister, and her roommate have a possible blossoming romance if you will. Basically, it is acknowledged that Ma Ru and her roommate both care for each other. As for the roommate specifically, she does openly mention her being a Lesbian as well as gives a confession-of-sorts to Ma Ru.
This "reveal" may or may not take place in Ep 19 based on the date that viewers talked about this plotline. But, I can't say that for certain because I haven't seen this drama myself.
This seems like a pretty fun drama that I may just check out. At that time, I will update this accordingly.

169. Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
#169
Features a Lesbian SFL, Yu Cho Hui, with unrequited feelings for her friend, FL Yeo Hwa Jeong.
In Ep 14 her sexuality is revealed through a flashback when she was younger, where her mother puts her down for being who she is and expresses anger toward her clear feelings for Hwa Jeong. From this point on, we learn not only about how she has been rejected by her mother but also how she has been dealing with keeping her feelings to herself. And through all of this, she makes the decision to embrace her sexuality. In Ep 15 Cho Hui finally confesses her past feelings, with Hwa Jeong readily accepting her and admitting she already knew "since back then."
Though very brief, I was quite pleased with the rep.

170. Blue Diamond
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
#170
One of the main FLs, Jeong Seo Hyun, is a Lesbian who is still very much in love with her first love, Suzy Choi. The reveal first occurs in Ep 2. From there, we watch Seo Hyun grow and not only open up to people around her about her sexuality but also find courage for herself.
In the end, it is heavily implied through a phone call that she and Suzy get back together.
What I particularly loved about the representation here was the pushback against religion condemning Homosexuality. For example, in the last episode, Mother Emma (the nun) says to Seo Hyun, "Let me apologize to you on behalf of the world that forced you to stay in the closet. I would like to apologize to you. It's not a sin, but you had to live your whole life hiding it as if it were a sin. Don't do that now."
I wouldn't say this drama is for everyone since it's very soap opera. It's loud, repetitive, and overly extravagant with just about everything. But the representation here is undoubtedly of quality.

Main romance between two FLs, as well as a not-really-love triangle. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't an issue here.
The way they jumped back and forth through the years made the story a bit of a confusing mess. Also, the timing of the subtitles was a few seconds slow which was frustrating. It was cute and pretty well-acted for what it was though. And it was nice to see them not shy away from the kiss.

Main romance between two FLs.
My thoughts on the drama itself: It's a crime this is so short! Dammit, I want more!

191. To the X Who Hated Me Season 2
Korean Drama - 2024, 3 episodes
#191
Main romance between two FLs.
My thoughts on the drama itself: I felt this wasn't as put-together story-wise compared to To The X Who Hated Me: E Jae X Woo Ri or as engaging. Did they have chemistry, though? Yes.

192. Mayfly Angel
Korean Drama - 2024, 4 episodes
#192
Main romance between FLs.
My thoughts on the drama itself: It was rather frustrating, to be honest. They started off with good chemistry and tension and then dove into conflict and seemed to go in circles.

193. Red Whisper
Korean Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
#193
Main romance between two FLs.
My thoughts on the drama itself: The way they played into Biphobic stereotypes, making it seem like Ajin couldn't help but cheat because "Oh, no, I love two people" just pissed me off more and more as time went on.
IF YOU WANT TO DATE TWO PEOPLE, YOU SIT DOWN AND HAVE AN HONEST FUCKING CONVERSATION WITH THEM.
And to end it all with just a slap on the wrist?
I can't with this production company anymore.Link to YouTube Playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYfaogVGCvwScMgbcMzyvGf-MGa81J0vj&si=Zyllfd1_81OW5VjD

196. Mademoiselle
Korean Movie - 2016
#196
Main romance between two FLs.
My thoughts on the movie itself: Lustful, sly, and unconstrained, this was a bold movie for the books. A critique of possession and celebration of desire, all contained within a long and messy con.
I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, though, due to the violent and highly explicit scenes present. Can be found on free websites

197. Beautiful Vampire
Korean Movie - 2018

Features a Bisexual FL, Ran.
If ever there was a FL that was Easily Bisexual, it would be this one. Just . . . Good job there :) Seriously, thank you everyone who contributed to this movie.

198. Hello Dracula
Korean Special - 2020, 2 episodes
#198
The main story features a Lesbian FL, Anna, who broke up with her girlfriend she was dating for eight years and is having a hard time with her mother because of her sexuality.
What I loved about this is that it didn't try to push aside the sins of the parent. It framed her mother in a sympathetic but just light. She did her daughter wrong. Now, it's time for her to be the parent she should have always been.
The message I came away with was: You are not wrong. They are the ones who are wrong.

199. Drama Special Season 2: Daughters of Bilitis Club
Korean Special - 2011, 1 episode
#199
Features Lesbian characters and couples.
Here's the thing: having a drama special be entirely about Lesbians is great. And the fact that this came out in 2011 at that (though it did get pulled) is something.
However, a big however, is that this just had to subtly dig at Bisexual women. Like, come on. If you're making a special that will be representing one part of the LGBT+ community, how about you don't drag down another part of that community in the process. Can't find any specific legal sites to watch it on.
