"D.P. Season 2" Hot Reactions from Preview Screening and Key Points to Watch

After two years of waiting, the story everyone has been eager for has returned. D.P. Season 1 presented a fresh premise centered around deserter pursuit ("D.P.") and delved into the diverse stories of youth, sharply reflecting our society and igniting passionate discussions.

D.P. Season 1 garnered enthusiastic support from viewers and various sectors of society, winning the Best Drama award at the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards in the TV category and the Best Drama award at the 1st Cheongryong Series Awards. It was recognized as a well-made series that appealed to both the media and the general audience.

Director Han Jun Hee, who crafted a thoughtful drama that exposed social injustices while maintaining its humanity, now continues the untold stories from Season 1, delving into the unchanging reality and absurdity faced by the D.P. team as they relentlessly confront challenges. Season 2 picks up after the shocking ending of Season 1.

Season 1 left viewers with the heart-wrenching scene of Private Cho Seok Bong's pain, followed by the sight of his friend Kim Ru Ri firing a gun. Season 2 portrays the struggle of those determined to change this reality in any way possible. Director Han Jun Hee explained, "Season 2 starts with Episode 7. Season 1 concluded with a major incident, and I wanted to explore how these characters changed through that incident. That's why I named Season 2's first episode as Episode 7, as the story continues."

Season 2 reunites versatile actors Jung Hae In, Koo Kyo Hwan, Kim Sung Kyun, and Son Suk Ku, presenting an upgraded chemistry. Jung Hae In and Koo Kyo Hwan's dynamic as 'Jun Ho Yul' remains as strong as ever, while Kim Sung Kyun and Son Suk Ku's portrayal of Park Bum Goo and Im Ji Sup add further depth to the relationships.

Fresh faces also captivate the audience's attention. In addition to Ji Jin Hee and Kim Ji Hyun, who play Brigadier General Goo Ja Woon and Lieutenant Colonel Seo Eun, respectively, who are at odds with the 103rd Division's Gendarmerie Investigation Division, Jung Suk Yong as Lieutenant Oh Min Woo, Moon Sang Hoon, who will continue the story as Kim Ru Ri from Season 1, Bae Na Ra as Jang Sung Min, Im Sung Jae as Na Jung Suk, and Choi Hyun Wook as Shin Ah Hwi is responsible for each episode.

Director Han Jun Hee intended for D.P. Season 2 to feel like six short films, each with its own distinct characteristics. The series incorporates genre variations, such as action spectacle, social critique, musical elements, and horror, providing a rich and captivating viewing experience.

The early episodes, opened by Kim Ru Ri's desertion, leave a deep emotional resonance, while the nationwide chase and action-packed sequences of the D.P. team inject exhilaration into the narrative. The combination of musical elements helps to define the characters, and the use of GP (Guard Post, an unarmed zone within the DMZ) introduces a sense of isolation and employs horror elements to enhance the immersion.

After receiving glowing reviews from the preview screening, D.P. Season 2 will be released on Netflix on the 28th.
