CHARACTERS:

Im Shi Wan as Ki Seon Gyeom

Im Shi Wan is playing the role of Ki Seon Gyeom who is national athlete, belonging to a rich household. His life seems to be perfect having father as a politician, the mother is a famous actress and sister who is a well-known golfer and he himself a popular sprinter, but things not always what they seem. He never done anything for himself, he is lonely, he doesn't even know how to love himself and one day a decision changes his life, and his journey begins to find what he wants from his life and to learn to love himself.

Talking about the character's personality, he is mature, honest, innocent, straightforward, upright, calm, composed and always sticks to his principle but being honest doesn't mean he is rude or ignorant. His character seems to be aloof in the start but as we explore we get to know it's dense, deep and with many layers and as we go further we always see a new side of him. Basically, his character is very well written and almost a perfect male lead but in a realistic way.

It's Im Shi Wan's first project after Strangers from Hell. Both dramas are totally different from each other, it's exciting and refreshing to see his new side as Ki Seon Gyeon, he did a perfect job in conveying the character's true emotions, his acting is very promising, and his innocent face, cuteness and killing smile is a treat for eyes. It would be amazing to witness his character development and journey to love himself.

Shin Se Kyung as Oh Mi Joo

Shin Se Kyung is playing the role of Oh Mi Joo, who is a translator as well as an interpreter, she is an orphan. She had a tough life, and she struggles everyday to survive to make a living. She can be a perfect definition of a strong female lead.

She is brave, eccentric, hardworking, upright, straightforward, talented, confident and practical. Her tough life made her strong. Her versatile personality is one of her strong points, in one scene you can see her being bold, brave and speaking for herself against discrimination but she also knows that in order to survive she had to make little sacrifices, she apologizes even she wasn't wrong, and that's what really happens in the real world we don't always get everything by being brave, that's the part which makes her character more special, realistic. She loves her work, her passion for work is really inspiring to see.

The more you explore her, the more you go deep in her character you'll start to love her more, I really love the depth of the character, that's not something you usually see in dramas. Sometimes her weird and unpredictable behavior is a pleasure to watch.

Shin Se Kyung is a very talented and beautiful actress she did a great job in portraying Oh Mi Joo. It's really a pleasure to see her great acting and her cute smile. It'll be great to see her journey.

Choi Soo Young as Seo Dan Ah

Choi Soo Young playing the role of Seo Dan Ah as the CEO of sports agency and the rightful successor of Seo Myung group. She was born with a silver spoon in the mouth, but her life wasn't that easy as you thought. Her strong personality makes her more special, her character isn't that likable from the start, but eventually, you'll fall for her charm. You'll hate her some actions, but she's practical businesswomen, but she never got chance to follow her dreams her passion, she was bounded by the responsibility to take care of business, but even she does her best, being a girl she's always second best, her family is a mess her story explains her actions.

It's really great to see two strong female leads in one drama in different perspectives, they are strong in their own way and own definition. After doing totally different role in Tell Me What You Saw, Choi Soo Young is doing a great job as Seo Dan Ah. I'm in love with her personality. She's definitely one of my favorite characters.

Kang Tae Oh as Lee Young Hwa

Kang Tae Oh playing the role of Lee Young Hwa who is a university student majoring in arts. His has a bubbly personality, and you always see him smiling, he's good at expressing himself so you can know what he feels just by looking at his face, he's amiable and enthusiastic, he's also struggling in his life as an artist, but he's always cheerful. I love his interactions with Dan Ah.

Kang Tae Oh did a great job portraying Lee Young Hwa last time when I saw him was in The Tale of Nokdu, his role now is totally opposite to it. We didn't know his backstory yet, but I would love to see him more in the next episodes, I really want to know him more, He's actions making me more curious about him, but his cuteness also overflowed... I hope he'll get more screen time. I'm looking forward to seeing every aspect of this character.

Original Soundtrack:

"Blue Bird" by Solar

You’re my blue bird

Who can’t go past the sky

That has endlessly spread out

It’s too tough day

No place for your heart to rest

Putting back the sighs that you let out

Flapping your wings with tears

Hey, my blue bird, where should we go?

Let’s erase the past

And come with me, anywhere

To a place where it’s just us two  (lyrics)

"Run To You" by Lucy

When I was lost and wandering

In that unknown place

When I felt so alone

And was waiting for someone

There was another person, who resembled me and also lost

I coincidentally met you

In that moment, my sleeping sky

Opened its eyes to your star

Right now, run to you

To where you are, I’m running

Yes, I need you

Since the day I met you, you are my everything(lyrics)

Personal Opinion:

Run On is running towards your goals, dreams, desires, exploring who we are, finding what we want from life. It's a journey of life.

To be honest, I started to watch this drama without any expectations because the synopsis and trailer weren't that impressive, but I ended up loving it. It has a unique, refreshing and unpredictable story, you cannot guess what can happen next, you also don't know where the story's going so you just have to enjoy this unpredictable journey not thinking about what would happen next.

The chemistry between leads is amazing. Love the fact it doesn't have 'typical' love triangle in it, there aren't any cliches in it, no misunderstandings, no lack of communication, no hate to love relationship that's what it makes  Run On, it's not usual drama, it's different in every aspect. It has romance with a slight touch of comedy. You can see the relationship between leads is developing everyday.

You learn many things from it, it's like facing reality. Ki Seon Gyeon have everything successful career, fame, reputed family, money and a bright future ahead but he is not happy and satisfied cause he haven't done anything for himself, on the other hand, Oh Mi Joo have opposite life she's orphan she has to struggle everyday to make money, but she loves herself, she loves her job, she's clear what she wants.

The story is well-executed, detailed, without any plot holes, it has beautiful cinematography, but its strength is its dialogues, haven't seen any dramas that have such perfect and meaningful conversations.

"Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves up." - Oh Mi Joo

"When I first ran, I was running away. I wanted to leave everything behind and go far away. When I had stopped, I could only hear my heart thumping loudly. It felt like I had a world of my own where only I could be heard. That was the first time I made a decision on my own." - Ki Seon Gyeom.

"My dream was to become a soccer player. But I realize dreams are just dreams. It was just a dream, and I let go of that dream so easily. I'm just glad to be able to kick a ball every now and then. Although I'd thought I'd get more chances than this..."

"Is that why you always wear sneakers?"

"You never know when the chance will come. Just like now." - Seo Dan Ah.

And here's my favorite scene. To be honest, I was expecting that he might grab her hand from the back but the way she grabbed his hand she, the way she said "I know how to find my place" it was amazing then you can see Seon Gyeom's innocent smile, and that made this scene more perfect.

I love this, it's going to be one of my favorites if it keeps going on like this for sure. It's must-watch and definitely something that you get more than just entertainment.

Don't forget to tell me your opinions and thoughts about this drama.

Bye! Have a great day!
