I can’t believe that it is over, I could watch Justita punish unrepentant criminals in her own crazy way forever!

There are very few shows that manage to hold my attention till the very last and “The Judge from Hell” was one such gem. Starring Park Shin Hye in an eclectic role, the show focuses on Justita, the Demon Judge in Hell who specializes in punishing murderers. As the third most powerful Demon in Hell, she is arrogant, and terrifying. A slight mistake in judgment lands her in trouble as she is exiled to Earth where she has to kill 10 unrepentant murderers and send their souls to hell. Easy, right? Wrong, because while Justita is quite good at doing her job, nothing could have prepared for the earthly attachments that cripple her desire to return to hell. As Justita, Park Shin Hye gives an eccentric performance, portraying a demon who is bloodthirsty and yet justified in her deliverance. Despite the ensemble casting that forms the core of this show, Park Shin Hye grabs your attention from the get-go. It was entertaining watching her on a killing spree that is seemingly warranted. This show doesn’t hinge much on romance, so you will be disappointed if you are looking for a somber love story!

it’s my personal opnion.opinion may vary person to person

Personally i love fanatasy series.but i found some recent popular fanatasy kdrama overly hyped.when i saw the trailer I thought TJFH will satisfy my cravings.but i am disappointed. Only plus points of this drama are PSH 's portrayal of funny parts and handsome ML.i found the violence scene overly dragged,overall plot can be finished in just 8-10 episodes(didnt need that detailed and long voilence scenes),story buildup was not that good some plotholes were really eye shore like abduction of the detective and ML's portrayal of emotion on that particular event and so on.i like kdramas because maximum actors' way of handling emotions are very good but i couldn’t feel the chemistry between the leads. Their romance felt to forced like they have superior and subordinate relationship.even the ending Doesn’t feel good at all.

This changed my mind about Park Shin Hye

I had seen heirs, memories of alhambra and Dr.slump and Park Shin hye acting was the weakest point of all said projects in my opinion. Nevertheless I Iove fantasy and liked the synopsis enough so I picked this up and Im pleasantly surprised with PSH acting as Kang Bit na. every single actor here do their jobs perfectly. ( minus the actress playing Aron. the facial expressions were too much)

Justitia is responsible for sending murderers to hell but a wrong judgment in regards to human judge named Kang Bit na forces her to pay a huge price in return. She is banned to earth in Bit nas body where she has to find 10 unapologetic murderers and send them to hell. this new job has its own complication as Han Da on gets involved.
Han Da on is a detective with a painful past. His version of justice clashes with justitias greatly for obvious reasons. As time passes they get to understand each other more.

The judge from hell has interesting themes: demons, angels, revenge, justice etc. The visuals aspect of it is top tier and every episode is just as interesting with no dragging or fillers. I also loved the styling of characters too. The twists can be seen from a mile away. Han da on character is a bit bland for a main character. The romantic aspect of it is bit rushed but I think it makes sense when its just 14 episodes so Im not really complaining. its not the greatest kdrama ever made but its still worth watching.

Also they dont explain what happened to real Bit na?

Fantastic story and acting

I absolutely loved the storyline of the movie. It was engaging and beautifully crafted, pulling me into its narrative from the very beginning. As I expected, both Park Shin-hye and Kim Jaehyung delivered outstanding performances that truly brought the characters to life.

Park Shin-hye, in particular, showcased her incredible range as an actress. She effortlessly navigated through a myriad of emotions, conveying deep feelings with remarkable nuance and subtlety. Her ability to portray multiple emotions and expressions simultaneously is a testament to her immense talent; it's definitely not an easy feat. Each scene she was in felt authentic and compelling, allowing the audience to connect with her character on a profound level.

Kim Jaehyung also brought a unique charm and depth to his role, complementing Park Shin-hye’s performance beautifully. His acting was so convincing that, for a moment, I found myself believing that he was not just acting but genuinely portraying a police officer. The realism he brought to the character was remarkable, making his performance even more impactful. Together, they created a captivating dynamic that enriched the storyline even further.

Overall, their performances were a highlight of the film, making it a memorable experience that I highly recommend.

Honest rant. It could have been good, it's awful.

This is a rant. If you like this drama, spare yourself the annoyance and don't read this review.
This drama is clearly not for me, and yet I made it through, albeit with pain, 9.5 episodes. The idea was interesting, yes, some of the characters too, at the beginning, but it all pales in comparison to the stupidity and awkwardness of the main character, who should be a big, powerful and terrifying demon from hell, meanwhile she is an infantile, empty shopaholic addicted to expensive brands and even in the most bad ass scenes is just pathetic and ridiculous. Her romance with the policeman and the policeman himself (HDO) are conducted as if they came out of a textbook for authors on how to write cloying, empty romances with unrealistic stakes building (and I don't mean fantasy, just plain reason). I know, because I write such. It works, as you can see from the high ratings, so if you're only interested in the melodramatic aspect of “bad women with golden heart” and “good men with darkness,” you'll definitely like this drama. Oh yeah, and poor special effects, with which the director slaps the viewer in the face shouting: “look how cool this is.” Well, it's not cool. “Supernatural” 20 years ago showed demons and supernatural phenomena better. Up to about episode 6-7 I rated this drama as average, but after what they are doing now, I feel sorry to watch. Schema and cliché. In fact, the scene at the funeral of the policewoman was the pinnacle of cringe filmmaking for me. Every word, every shot was a copy from the playbook of “how to move the audience with ML's suffering.” I myself don't know what's the worst thing about this drama, the hopeless plot, the annoying, flat characters or the brazen preying on the emotions of supernatural romance fans. In any case, I give it 2/10, because I laughed several times, although rather not at what the creators intended as funny. I feel that if I watch even one more minute, I will give this drama 0/10.

One of the best K-drama so far

Where do I start? This drama kept me engage the entire time. From the cases to the killings to the judgments, it was a masterpiece. Every thing about this drama was spot on. I loved how Justisia judged based on her law and not the law of the land because we all know that the law of the land does very little justice. She punished those who needed to be punished and I loved that for her. I also loved that despite falling in love with a human, she kept to herself. She was just as cunning as the sinners. Of course, when it comes to who Satan was, it was subtle in showing us who it was but it wasn't super obvious as well. It kept me guessing among the Jung family. I mean, that Assemblyman was suspicious along with his sons. So it was interesting to keep guessing among who the Jung men were.

Let's get started with the casts.
Park Shin Hye - Justisa and Kang Bit Na: wow, is all I can. She did an AMAZING job. This is by far her best performance since she started acting at a young age. She usually plays the same character, but she showcased her range with this one. I have always been a fan of hers, but she needs to play more roles like this. The badass woman who can defend herself. Of course, she is without faults. In the beginning, she was arrogant and rude, but she eventually started to understand humans and at the end, she did what she had promised the family. Her character arc was amazing. I enjoyed her smirk and fighting.

Kim Jae Young - Han Da On: Okay, not going to lie, I have never seen any of his dramas, but I thought that he was an awesome job. He was annoying at first, wanting to catch Kang Bit Na and use human laws against her, but once he joined forces with her, he started to understand that sometimes you can't use human laws on evil. I loved how with his eyes and tears, he can move the audience and the cold hearted Kang Bit Na. He went through a lot at a young age and he again lost the one who raised him and care for him, but he still wanted to be on the side of justice. His character arc was also amazing. He grew from being a one sided officer to understanding that the law may not always be on their side but he hopes that the law can at least mend the hearts of the victims.

Kim In Kwon - Mando: he is the funniest character of the entire drama. He was really put in a dilemma and he did what he can. I have always thought that he was a perfect match to Park Shin Hye. She had been driving him crazy since 2009 (if you know what I mean). Despite the fact that he was conflicted when it came to religion, being a demon himself, he was always loyal to Kang Bit Na. He went along with her shenanigans all the while trying to protect her the best he can.

Kim Ah Young - Arong: oh boy. Where to start with her. When we first met her, she was already suspicious to me. But she played her part so well. I understand that she wanted to do anything in her power to help Justista but betraying her idol was the most ridiculous thing she can do. I mean, Justitia has already told her to leave Han Da On alone, but she just couldn't trust her idol, so she went behind her back and got her almost killed. However, I did like that they made her realize what she did was wrong and stood by Justitia side as a loyal friend.

All of the guests did an AMAZING job. They were the perfect psychopath. They played their part very well and I can see that they have range to play someone who can come off as nice but is truly evil. They all deserve medals for their part in the drama. Some of them, especially the multiple personalities actor, outshined the main casts. I mean, they were just so awesome.

So, my rating. It started off as a 10, but I took 1.5 stars out because of the second part of episodes 14. I loved how she ended up dying, and then brought back to punish Jung Tae Gyu. However, she should have been sent back to Hell to punish the sinners and murders in Hell. After learning from what she had learned in the human world, she should have used that to rightfully punish the murders and not act like she did in the episode 1, but no, she asked Bael for three years and he willingly gave it to her. I love a happy ending, but I feel that for this drama, there shouldn't be a happy ending. This is not a fairytale drama.

The thing that I loved most about episode 14 is that it circled back to episode 1 when she told the kids about justice. That was a nice touch to the drama. However, I did not like the open end ending with the choice of either staying as a human by punishing 10 more sinners or going straight to hell. I wished she wouldn't even have that chance. I loved her but as I have stated, this wasn't a fairytale drama. It was a dark drama that has romance (which I still didn't agree with). Overall, I don't mind rewatching this again.

I am very interested with this theme and storyline. I love Park Shin Hye in this drama. Her charisma in this drama is amazing. Her acting skills are also unquestionable.

As for his co-star, the guy also has acting skills and also fits his role very well. I don't know this guy but he's great. I also like the atmosphere created between the other supporting characters.

In terms of visual effects, it is also beautiful and indeed quite terrifying to depict hell. However, I am not too satisfied with the execution at the end of this story, but considering that it was played professionally, I can't if not give it a high score.

Best drama of 2024!

I initially put this drama on as background noise while doing chores, without any expectations. I wasn’t familiar with Park Shin-hye and hadn’t seen her in anything before, but I did know Kim Jae-young, so when I found out he was the main lead, I was thrilled.! The drama captured my interest quickly; there weren’t any dull episodes, and all the actors delivered exceptional performances. It’s rare to find a drama where every actor shines.

Although I can’t speak to Park Shin-hye’s previous work, anyone criticizing her acting after this series is simply being unreasonable. Her performance was outstanding, as was Kim Ah-young’s—she was amazing! As for those saying the romance seemed forced… what exactly did they expect? Romance is one of the core genres here, and without it, the story would lack variety. Plus, the chemistry between Shin-hye and Jae-young, both on and off screen, was fantastic. I genuinely can’t see how it could seem forced.

All in all, this is an excellent drama, and I’d say it’s the best one of 2024.
