Though no chemistry, in my opinion
Overall, I am very satisfied with the series . It boasts excellent cinematography, an engaging plot, and strong performances. However, I cannot share the overly high ratings given by other users. In my opinion, the series lacks chemistry between the main characters, Jom and Yai. This might be because, in real life, they do not have BL relationships. As a result, there is a constant emotional distance between the characters. While Nonkul Chanon's restrained acting style is generally fitting, the relationship between Jom and Yai feels more like that of two people stranded on a deserted island—brought together and bonded solely by circumstances.
Despite this, I really enjoyed the series. It offers a unique take on the BL genre, combining elements of history, fantasy, and mystery, making it truly special.

I'm glad that I watched this after the hype, so I wouldn't be swept up with it
Let me say this first- I have watched 5 series by Dup Hup House, with this being the 6th. And...it has fallen into 1 of 2 patterns that I see Dup Hup House has. The series is either meh, but you watch it for the chemistry of the actors or it starts off good, gets meh and ends good/ okay-ish. I felt the ending for this was more why, but then I guess it's set up to have a season 2, I guess (I won't hold my breath for it as trashy BL's seem to get second season before outstanding/ good BL's.There were some parts I like, some parts I hate and some parts I just wondered why. Like why did Jom end up inthe past? To experience what true love is just to loose it again?! That does not make sense to me. A time travel drama is supposed to have a specific reason for WHY did they end up inthe past. And yes, I see that he helped all those people in the past. But yet, he looses his love.
And the that ending- HOW and WHY? I'm sorry, this series just had to much flaws for me and because I have no idea if it's going to get a second season, I'm rating it on what was present to me with this season.
P.S.- While the overall rating says 7.5 (which I was initially going to give this series), the ending did not sit with well (both parts), so I'm giving it a 7. I really feel like I may never like a Dee Hup House production series, as there is always something in it that I will find flaws in.

You must go see what you haven't seen
You must go see what you haven't seenYou must go see what you haven't seenYou must go see what you haven't seenSay important things three times!!!I originally wanted to wait until the update was completed before I could catch up, but I couldn't help but watch 11 episodes. Hahahaha, thank you very much to the production team for presenting us with an excellent and beautiful play. The scenes, costumes, music, and other aspects of the play are all just right. It's really a very, very, very beautiful play. I don't know how to describe it anymore. Bright and Nonkul are really like walking out of a book, their acting skills are really amazing. They have played the roles of Khun Yai and Jom, and their relationship is really loving. I am truly moved by their relationship. Watching them develop step by step is really exciting (there are many exciting parts in the drama that make people crash into bed). Thank you very much to the director and production team for showing me a different BL drama. It's really, really, really beautiful. For those of you who haven't seen it before, you must go and watch it!!!! Thank you again to the director. The visuals are really beautiful, just like a pictorial newspaper. Any screenshot can be used as a wallpaper. I really hope to have a second installment and look forward to future development. Thank you also to the production team, everyone behind the scenes has contributed to creating this drama for us. I don't know what kind of visual experience the 12 episodes will bring, I hope I won't cry too hard.Cet avis était-il utile?
It feels like you're being transported into a storybook
It feels like you're being transported into a storybook. You go along piecing together the history through sketches that the main character (Jom) finds in an old house in present day Thailand. But it's just sketches with no context. It has no value to those outside the story. When Jom gets into a car accident, he wakes up in the 1930s. As you are watching, you arent sure what is real anymore because Jom toes the line between past and present. But, maybe it's all a dream and all in his imagination? But, the scenes look familiar and you realize he is playing out the story behind those sketches and my gosh IT IS A BEAUTIFUL STORY.
It feels so nice watching a drama with characters who are genuinely good. (Even though I do like my share of toxicity at times). But both Jom and Yai wear their hearts on their sleeves. They love fully and earnestly and that is so refreshing to see. And my gosh Im only 6 episodes in and I know this is going to destroy me and Im going to end up sobbing. But, do yourself a favor and watch this show!!! Anytime I see these two on screen, I get immediate butterflies. They perfectly portray the feeling of falling in love.

Vibes but no plot
This review is coming at you from a non-novel reader, just FYI. But it's another one of these beloved dramas that I ended up just not quite clicking with. The concept is fantastic. I love a good time travel / isekai type story à la Scarlet Heart Ryeo or Romance of Tiger and Rose. The acting is sometimes good and sometimes a little awkward.
I feel like my main issue with this drama is that so much of it feels unearned and aimless.
There's a sort of "mystery" subplot surrounding a conspiracy reveal that appears for maybe three episodes, and it's all played out so fast from the moment it's first mentioned to the final reveal. We never really follow the story; we just know it's happening in the background, and then the big reveal happens and the story just ends.
The romance, which is the biggest part of the story, gives me much of the same feeling. I am absolutely a hater of insta-love and "destined love," and here it really does show my biggest problem with it. I'm just not understanding why or when they fell in love with each other, and we're given these romantic moments when I feel like they should still be getting to know each other better. It's weird because the potential is definitely there — the massage scene, for example, is A+ — but it would've been even better if it felt earned.
It also feels aimless in the sense of Jom's time travelling not being explained. It's explored at the start when he's so frazzled and trying to figure out what's happening, but he gradually just starts living a normal life. His situation is only addressed when he's forcibly confronted with it, and it leaves a lot of questions by the end. I constantly wished the drama went deeper into this aspect and upped the stakes. I think this is where the conspiracy subplot could've been used, because it could've given Jom a goal, and a "oh, THIS is why I came back" moment.
Ultimately, the ending also feels quite rushed. I know there's a sequel though, so maybe it'll help. Nevertheless, I think the vibes are still there, and I know the novel probably explains more, but from a drama-only perspective, that's what I felt.

Not the best BL series 2023 by far...
What I like:production quality
costumes
music
most acting
What I dislike:
The ending; yes it's fantasy and so on, but it's not believable.
Jom - he is sometimes docile, sometimes mature. Only in the finale after "returning" he is much more believable.
Stereotype evil Robert, he is too plain, just a 08/15 bad character from one of the cheap novels published every week, no depth, no other side of him, just 10 pages worth of the 60 pages.
Story-Plotholes: While Yai falling in love was shown for a long time, Jom just did it out of the blue, overcoming his trauma from ep 1 in a blink of an eye. To be gay in early 20th century was by far not as easy as it's depicted in this story. Yai confesses he loves Jom and the father was relativly mild., compared to other series where the family explodes even today. There were always exceptions to the rule but it makes this point of the story not believable.
Pacing: After Robert is removed from the series everything is dragged on an on which made me skip some scenes.
Yai with silly Mustache
Summary:
While the production quality was top notch, music was very fitting, the acting overall very good, the setting something unique, the ending unbelievable and the preview of a second season unnecessary, this show is a mixed bag. Jom should have been more struggeling and maybe slowly falling in love in episode 7 with the first spicy scene in episode 8. But of course they could have paced the show faster with some serene scenes inbetween. If there is a second season I hope they will not repeat the same mistakes they did this time where script and direction was sometimes weak.

A gorgeous and heart breaking masterpiece
I haven’t been as moved by any other BL like I was with IFYLITA, the passion it was made with truly shows, It’s beautiful in every way, the way it was shot so elegantly makes you truly feel there in 1928 . Bright and Nonkul did a splendid job with the acting, tension and chemistry; the love scenes are the best I’ve ever seen, they are sensual and relevant to the story, not just for gratuity.YaiJom love was so lovely and sweet their character are so well developed I felt immersed in the story even repeating it many times.
Even though I know not everyone is going to feel the same way I do, I want to at least spread the word of the drama that changed me in hopes someone else will find it as endearing as I did, so if you can do give it a try.

SO UNDERRATED!!
10/10✨✨✨Such a hidden gem that deserves more hype! This series mixes historical romance with a sprinkle of fantasy, and it's seriously addictive. Jom and Khun Yai's connection is so real, and their slow-burn romance is just the sweetest.
The cinematography is on point! Every scene is like a work of art, from the lush landscapes to the detailed sets. The flowers, especially, add a magical touch to the scenes, making everything look even more beautiful.
One of the best parts is the dialogue:
Jom:"Khun Yai, do you ever think about what could have been if we met in another time?"
Khun Yai:"Every day, Jom. But in this life, we have to cherish the moments we have, even if they are fleeting."
It's moments like these that make the series so special and heart-wrenching.
Hopefully, there will be a season 2 for this masterpiece ?.
(I have read both the novel and webtoon.
The novel has the same impact as the series, but the webtoon art style and skipping scenes got me so angry that I stopped reading it.)

Heartfelt Series & Amazing acting
I was in complete dilemma on why Jom looks so familiar and when I stalk him, now I know why? HOW DID THEY MANAGE TO CAST HIM LIKE ????? I mean this in a good way ahha. I mean Nonkul is so adorable in the series but not in a cringe way. His acting is so damn perfect that I actually having a hard time in holding back my tears especially the last 2 episodes of this series. The way he is portraying Jom is beautiful and makes us the watchers totally understand from his point of view. His tears are valid and I have no complain about his characters. I think he is playing Jom with his own way and perfectly. ANYWAY, BRIGHT THO- UGHHH So handsome. LOL IM SORRY But we can't just forget about Bright. Though, one complain about Khun Yai is that he is a coward. He should have tried to reconnecting with his dad, have a heart to heart talk instead of letting Jom did all the work. But still, i think its because Khun Yai is a soft spoken person and very gentle, so he tend to feel like "its okay. Time will heal everything'.I am a bit confused at the end of the series though but when I read the explanation from this page then I finally understand. It turns out that the Khun Yai that in the present is related to Khun Yai's younger brother? But anyhow, he is reincarnated to be with Jom. I am happy with the ending BUT WHEN THERE IS POST CREDIT- I AM ALL... UGHH!!!! STAPH ITT ALREADYYYY!!! I cannot deal with any of these ANGST SHIT ANYMORE...!! Please give them more series tho. Their chemistry is something else. Can I just say that I have nothing against the plot except for the relationship between Khun Yai and his father? It seems like they are lacking in closure.
Anyway, if you want a break from the mainstream plot of romance, please do watch this series! <3

Me? A hopeless romantic? Maybe so!
When I started watching I wasn't sure I would like this series, because the little I saw here and there about it seemed to hint at destined lovers/reincarnation (which are tropes I usually don't like) and a historical setting (I tend to enjoy much less a story when it's set in the past). I ended up enjoying this series so much that, even a whole week after finishing it (and watching multiple other series) I still can't stop thinking about it.- The overall production is amazing. The camera angles and the transitions are beautiful and so are the colors: every episode demanded my full attention from the beginning to the end and made my eyes hungry for more. I often felt like every single frame of every episode could be turned into a painting of its own.
- The story was articulated very well. I know that this is an adaptation from a novel, which probably means that there were parts that needed to be removed or made shorter, but I didn't notice at all as I watched. The first episode establishes the characters and the setting beautifully, so much that I couldn't help devouring the rest of the series, all without ever feeling like the pace was too slow or too fast at any moment.
- The performance of all the actors for main and supporting characters were perfect. I was completely immersed in the story and that's mainly because of how natural everyone was in their respective roles. Nonkul and Bright definitely take the crown as the protagonists: their facial expressions, their body language, everything felt so raw and real and beautiful that I was unable to look away whenever they were on screen. Their chemistry was also impeccable, definitely among the best I've seen in any romantic series or film.
My favorite part of the entire series was the romance between Jom and Yai. It gave me the best fuzzy feelings whenever the two interacted, and I felt my heart sting whenever they went through any hardships. I never thought I'd be this moved when hearing two people being so loving to each other.
Unfortunately the story is incomplete and it shows, which is the only reason why I couldn't give this a full 10, but I'd be very happy to see a sequel. In the meantime, this is the first Thai series that encouraged me to read its source material, so I'll make sure to read it.
I highly recommend watching this series when you can!
