My School President (2022)

This is a show I procrastinated for a while before starting to watch it because I'm not a school crush enthusiast. However, it got me giggling and blushing throughout every single episode.
The acting is pretty good, and guntinn have an amazing chemistry - I like to think the actors themselves have a great connection in real life as well which made it possible.
I also love the message the whole show tried to convey about friendships, and it has one of the best OST I've ever witnessed.
I wish there was a second season because I honestly fell in love with My School President!

Based off my personal rating criteria specifically made for BLs

1. Characters 9/10
+ Tinn-Gun pairing is actually mature and communicates way more than the actual adults in other shows
+ Tiw served as such a fantastic bestie and wingman
=> ultimately, the characters felt like they were real, lived beings who well fleshed out and each had their own quirks and personality traits

2. Shipability 10/10
+ Good tension was built with the one-sided enemies/love dynamics
+ Gemini-Fourth has fantastic chemistry
=> it felt like they completely captured the essence of what a good high school love is

3. Plot 8/10
- The Hot Wave goal felt a little contrived. I was ready to put the "no dating rule" behind by the pre-beach episode
- The acting & overly dramatic emotional beats of the ep 11 fight felt like it was created solely because of the "ep 11 curse" and for no real plot significance
=> while the romance itself was good, many of the story beats of conflict felt forced at times

Fluff Overload

I mean fluff overload in the best way possible. As someone who typically prefers more dark and serious series I didn't expect to love this show as much as I did. Just a pure high school love story. I enjoyed how they took the relationship slow and felt it was very realistic. Tinn has to be one of my favorite characters in any series I have watched, just a huge green flag and wish that I could have a partner like him. At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like the side couple (soundwin) but they became one of my favorite part of the series and would love to see these actors act with each other again because their chemistry was amazing and I love the classic enemies to lovers trope.

This has NO RIGHT to be SO GOOD OMG

Story: 10/10
The story is your basic romance flipped on it's head: we get to see why and how Tinn fell in love with Gun, as well as how he tries to pursue him with the help of the best wingman ever, Thiu (Tiw?). It's such a cute twist, explaining all of the things that TInn does without Gun knowing, often backfiring in Tinn's face, to be honest, and I love how whipped Tinn is. The way they present Gun going from hating Tinn to being okay with him to actually liking him is also super wholesome. Plus, the side couple romance? Ugh. I love literally everything about this. I just want to type "Go watch it NOW" without explaining anything, and it's killing me not to lmao

Acting/Casting: 10/10
This is Gemini and Fourth's first main roles, and one of their first major projects (with some debate over whether Moonlight Chicken was filmed before My School President, which I'm not getting into because I don't really care either way lol), and you can't tell AT ALL. Like. Gemini is somehow funny and serious at the same time, often switching seamlessly from his Student President air to the high school boy in love he is, and I just APPLAUD him! And Fourth! Fourth is just as good! The way I can tell what the character is going through based on his eyes!? Ugh. It reminded me of Perth (Ay in Love by Chance and Kanghan in Dangerous Love) and Nanon's (Pran in Bad Buddy) acting, and he's only, like, 18! I think he might have even been 17 at the time of recording, and I'm just impressed. His and Gemini's chemistry is also on-point. Honestly, they might scale right up to some of my top Thai actors.

Music: 10/10
I feel like I just keep putting 10/10 on everything, but I literally mean it! I added EVERY. SINGLE. SONG. to my playlist. ALL OF THEM. Gemini and Fourth's voices go together so well, and even some of the other characters voices just... *chef's kiss* Loved it~ Plus, the show has this cute little snippet sound tracks that are both funny and relevant to what's happening in the best way. Seriously, whoever was in charge of music with this series really outdid themselves.

Rewatch Value: 10/10
It's such a cute, heartwarming story that I can easily seeing it being a comfort show. I know for myself, personally, it's a show that I often fall asleep to or watch when I'm not feeling the best, because I literally get serotonin from how cute and funny it is.

Overall: 10/10
This rating really shouldn't surprise anyone because I don't think I've said a single negative thing about this show, but whatever. I know that, as a community, a lot of us are tired of school BLs, often in the mood for more mature storylines, but I think this was a school BL done right. The characters act and FEEL like high schoolers with their over-the-top dramatics and antics, and I think it's a great spin on a novel that wasn't nearly as cute or fluffy. Just.. go watch it. Right now lmao

Don’t know where to start

Like I don’t know even where to start when I talk about this show wow wow!!

When this series first came out I was really not interested I was like oh it’s like another one of the same high school series cause at that time bad buddy was my absolutely favorite high school series. So when everyone was hyping how good it is I still was not there yet but this week I said let me give it a chance and watch it and oh boy did I go down the rabbit hole.

I got hook the first episode like what , how , why?! It was that good and I got hooked and more hooked on this series it was that good and more and I still can’t believe it. Everything about this show was wholesome and just the right amount of everything a series should be and even more.

The characters Tinn and Gun were cast perfectly I can’t see anybody being the perfect for this role they absolutely did an outstanding job with this. Gemini and Fourth are just gold and I see such great this for them. But I have to say that Fourth’s acting is amazing his one to watch for cause I felt all the emotions he showed us and believed them he is great for this show like wow!!!

Overall this series hits different and it’s one of those wholesome shows that you can watch over and over and over again and not get tired of it. This was written beautifully and spectacular to be honest wow this is just amazing. On my way to rewatch it again after righting this review and I recommend this show 10000x more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THIS SHOW IS ACTUALLY INSANE. LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE A KID AGAIN??? WAAAATTCHHH

Where do I fucking start? I just finished watching this like 10 minutes ago and I don't want to smile anymore. This show is actually crazy and I have no idea how coherent this review would turn out because my brain wants to shut down.

My School President is what happens when you put A FUCKING TALENTED DIRECTOR and give him a simple plot. It goes from something not too short or ordinary to ABSOLUTELY ASTOUNDING, its both something light and fun yet genuine and I LOVE ITTT. The cinematography of this show goes HARDDD and it's not even of just nature or pretty places, the entire show is so cheerful and colorful it makes you want to smile widely.

The cast is just PERFECT. They're mostly new faces that have never been presented in this way and they are SO GOOD AT WHATEVEE THEY'RE DOING !!! There is NOT a single second where I could say the acting is bad or even not good because???? Whoever paired Fourth and Gemini together needs to be paid MORE!!! They bring such a refreshing pure chemistry to the table and obviously they are both gorgeous gorgeous boys. Every character feels so perfectly in place with the actor that plays it, Fourth as Gun??? Gemini as Tinn??? Winny as Win??? Satang as Sound??? Ford as Por??? Mark as Tiw??? Captain as Yo??? Prom as Phat??? THE PARENTS AS WELL??? EVERYTHIIINNGG IS JUST PERFECT. WHOEVER WAS IN THAT CASTING ROOM I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOU. PLEASE MARRY ME, THE CHARACTERS ARE SO PERFECT.

As far as story goes, it was SO WELL EXECUTED??? and it is SO ADORABLE??? every episode has the capacity to make you so excited it drives you out of your mind (well, there were only two episodes that kind of fell flat TO ME but if you've been watching gmmtv for a while theres ALWAYS a filler episode). Tinn being revealed to have had a crush on Gun since FOREVER in the VERY FIRST EPISODE is one of THEE CUTEST THINGS EVER and I think other shows should take NOTES!! I do enjoy the very same trope without being revealed but this was just perfect. Everything he'd ever done being for Gun makes me so emotional, he is honestly the sweetest, purest, most adorable character I've ever watched in a show. If I was Gun I would be crying and losing my sanity by episode 3 ? (which, to be fair is when Gun discovered his feelings <3). Tinn and Gun's dynamic literally warms my heart so much, every time they appear on screen I'm absolutely SWOONING!! They make me feel like I'm youthful again (despite the fact that we're the same age, or I'd say I'm even younger than both of them, but obviously not in the same life stage). This show is giving me new ideas on how to fall in love, but my first love is far gone I guess ㅠㅠ

I wholeheartedly love both of them so much, I love how Tinn always strives to give his best and when he commits to something he COMMITS!!! He's such a gentle and kind person, and the nicest friend ever, always there to cheer others up. He's always been the shoulder for Gun to cry on and he LISTENSSS!!!! LIKE REALLY REALLY LISTENS!!! I want to put him inside my pocket i just love him so much. He is the og winner, bro won at life by getting Gun to be his man like AAAAAA!!!! but is he the one winning or is it Gun HMMMM

And GUN!!!! GUN IS MY BABY!!! He's the bestest boy ever, the love he has for his family and his friends, he is a true BLESSING!!! The intro of the show showing how passionate he is and him continuing to hold that passion true to his heart!!! He is such an inspiration. He is also so compassionate and so gentle (also he's head empty no thoughts but I GET HIM!! He is so funny) and did I mention that my soul leaves my body the moment he speaks in that soft voice of his.... Like the way I might DIE?? The way you can tell he cherishes Chinzhilla and his mother makes me want to cry. He is ready to fight the world for the people he loves, and he proves it time and time after!! Fourth did an insane job portraying him EVERYBODY SAY THANK YOU NATTAWAT!!!

The way I'm lowkey a member of Chinzhilla now like you guys don't get it these are MY BESTIES TOO!!! I love them I love them I LOVE THEM!!? They are one hell of a success story, everybody say THANK YOU TINN FOR REDEEMING THEM??? The bond they have with each other is something that I so deeply crave and will die to get. I love every single one of them so much, Yo, their silly little guitarist who gets in trouble ALWAYS and his arch with Nook was INSANE, they are soo cute <333. Sound??? SOUND IS MY MAN!! Satang is so hot for playing him, what started as an angry cocky super talented bassist became a little downbad puppy (that is still super talented and a bassist though dont get me wrong) WHOEVER DECIDED TO WRITE HIM IN LOVE WITH WIN PLS COME HERE LET ME HUG YOU!?!?! I love to see him fight with Win and everyone (I swear I'm normal) he's my boy. Win is my favorite head empty hotheaded loser, bro literally thinks with his ass <3 respectfully BUT HIS HEART IS SO FULL OF LOVE FOR HIS BROS??? HE IS MY EVERYTHING ACTUALLY. Por is top 10 people I need in my life, also head empty no thoughts but thats what these idiots have in common they are literally so cute. Also I think we need to COMMEND Ford on his singing skills because Come Closer is about to be my most listened to song EVER!!! BACK TO POR he is so cheerful and SO SUPPORTIVE also a fashion king like OH MY GODDD!?!? I love him so much, the way I fell down the stairs sobbing when he was waiting for the members after HotWave :(( . Pat is one hell of a loser, lowkey 6th wheeling is CRAZZYYY he is actually kinda iconic for that, probably one of the dumbest in the club.

I need to talk about Tiwson or I'll die because THATS MY MANNN!!! HE IS THE AXIS OF THIS SHOW!!! If it weren't for him Tinn would've been in the trenches dying whenever he sees Gun actually!! The way he is everything. Him siezing EVERY opportunity and wasting no time to help everybody in this show is insane, father of 5, director, cupid, choreographer??? HE IS THE REAL MAIN CHARACTER!!! Mark outdid himself with Tiw but the issue is, Mark ALWAYS outdoes himself. Nothing makes me laugh harder than the fourth wall breaking he did multiple times, I LOVE HIMM!??

The portrayal of the parents of this show and how supportive they are of their children is something we need to genuinely give a huge kudos to!!! Tinn's mother is probably one I've never seen before, the way she gives Tinn space slowly despite knowing she'll get worried about him shows that she trusts him. Gun's mother is an angel, unconditionally supporting her child in a world so cruel, the way she raised him to be so carefree and happy is enough proof that she quite literally deserves the world. Tinn's father is our best friend actually, from the guitar to the love he has to his family, thats my guy actually!!

The musical aspect of this show is THE BEST THING ABOUT IT. All the little "music videos" in each episode quite literally transform you to another dimension, the way they are used for storytelling is so genius. For a person who loves music and singing — like me! — THIS IS A MAGIC FORMULA. I know what you hear about thai dramas or what you've seen when ir comes to singing but EVERYBODY WHO HAS BEEN NEAR A MICROPHONE IN THIS DRAMA IS SO INSANELY TALENTED?? if I come out with any form of damage from this drama its the damage Fourth's mesmerizing voice has done to MY HEART... AND GEMINI?? I ALREADY KNEW HE WAS A GOOD SINGER PRIOR TO WATCHING THIS SHOW BUT OH HE IS A GOOOOD GOOOD SINGER???? HOLY SHIT HE HAS THE VOICE OF AN ANGEL?? ALL OF THE OSTS IN THIS SHOW ARE SOMETHING TO ADD TO YOUR PLAYLIST LIKE FOREVER.

Final notes: I cannot cram all my thoughts into one review and I know that this barely does it justice because this show is everything, BUT I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH, I think its my new favorite show of all time, but who's to say? One of the few shows I might rewatch one day, even though I DONT do rewatches. I need to personally thank the entire cast and crew for making this show what it is!! THANKKKK YOUUUUU MY SCHOOL PRESIDENT!!!!! THANK YOU!!!?

Do I really need to say something about this banger?

This is one of the most perfect Thai BL, the musics/songs isn't cringe or bad when they started singing in some episodes compared to some BL when they sing its cringe or bad or really bothering literally like a disney movie .. the storyline is just so great i never thought about something like this before, the acting amd the actors all did a wonderful job! Every episodes were so nice to watch and every time one episode ended i couldn't wait to see the next episode the next week..

For me this is one of my favorite Thai BL !
I wonder why and how they're so Sodium Radium Potassium ( you gotta watch the series to understand this hahaha!! )

A simple story of student love well executed

I hadn't planned on watching this series, but after seeing the two main actors in Moonlight Chicken, I changed my mind. Usually I don't watch high school series because they are a bit too childish for my taste. Here, indeed, we don't have a very mature story, which is normal, but at least it is well executed.

GMM is finally making an effort to stop showing us basic BLs written by straight women for straight women where homosexuality doesn't exist and the realism of LGBTQ+ lives is absent. In this series , we describe real lives, coming out, society's acceptance. Even if we remain anchored in student problems, which is quite normal, we adhere without getting bored.

Another positive point: the actors seem to have the age of their character. It's a change from all the shows where 25 years old guys play 15 years old kids. I have a special thought for MY ONLY 12% which is the exact opposite of MY SCHOOL PRESIDENT.

Plus, the acting is good. The secondary characters, although numerous, bring a little more to the story.

In conclusion, I would say that we spend a good time watching this series which is not necessarily very inventive but well executed.

O heartstopper da GMM "My School Presidente" é um estrondo: no bom e no melhor sentido.

Ninguém estava esperando, mas nossos corações foram arrebatados por uma serie musical fantástica, cheia de carisma, alegria e uma equipe que entrou com tudo para fazer esse projeto dar certo.

A grande produtora de series, GMMTV, tem um catálogo de dar inveja nas outras produtoras e produções, alguns como: Still 2gether, Dark Blue Kiss, A Tale of Thousand Stars e BadBudy. E todos esses sucessos tem o dedo e quiçá a mão inteira da galinha dos ovos de ouro da GMMTV, o P'Aof, então, não tinha como dar errado.

Sendo assim, My School President chega enorme, um verdadeiro colosso, com uma trama envolvente, atores carismático, uma direção consciente e dedinhos mágicos do P'Aof, como showrunner. Ninguém poderia imaginar que uma serie teen, claramente feita para adolescentes, seria capaz de movimentar e chamar a atenção de todas e tantas pessoas.

Gemini Norawit e Fourth Nattawat, respectivamente, dão vida aos protagonistas Tinn e Gun. Ambos são atores sem muita experiência, mas que conseguiram entregar personagens carismáticos e adoráveis. Amanhã (24/02) sai o último episódio e eu não sei dizer como vou conseguir seguir minha vida sem acompanhar esses queridos. 

A parte boa é que os personagens retornam ainda esse ano em OurSkyy2, mas o Gemini e Fourth já tem um novo relacionamento como o Heart e Li Ming de Moonlight Chicken.

My School President (MSP) entra na GMM já sendo uma das maiores produções dessa produtora. E utilizo "maior" aqui não como quantidade, pois claramente a serie custou o troco do pão para a GMM que, sejamos sinceros, não é conhecida por ter series que exijam grandes investimentos financeiros ou/e técnicos(visual e gráfico). Maior, para MSP, significa qualidade. 

Tudo o que acontece nesse universo parece ter sido uma escolha extremamente bem analisada para que funcionasse da melhor forma possível. O que isso quer dizer? Que o time cômico, as músicas, as narrativas, os plot-twists são ótimos. São feitos com esmero!

A serie tem personagens excelentes e os atores que por detrás são igualmente capazes e carismáticos, no entanto, eu gostaria de fazer algumas menções honrosas para Mark Pakin ("Thiu" Thiuso), Satang Kittiphop (Sound), Ford Arun (Por) e a Lookwa Pijika (Gin, Mãe do Gun).

The key word is COMFORT

This bl was everything I needed to brighten my days. This was so so fluffy and it made me scream so many times.
It’s the type of show that brings you so much comfort, so much happiness.

Pros:
- Fourthgemini was absolutely ADORABLE. They were kinda cliche but that cliche you absolutely adore and miss those days: the one that makes you melt your insides actually and feel super super single

- It was FUNNY. It made me miss romantic comedies. I rarely laugh at tv shows but especially some of Tinn’s fantasies in his head made me die. Omg just remembering these scenes makes me laugh HE’S SO CUTE

- The bromance. The band was amazing with all their adorable bromance moments. This squad is my favorite, they became my family

-The music. I usually HATE when there is music or a guitar in a tv show but these songs were BOPS I’m telling you. The theme song especially is stuck in my head. And if music isn’t for you just skip these parts, please don’t let this stop you from watching.

- Dealing with issues. I loved how this show also dealt with homophobia, family issues (and other stuff regarding the family but *spoilers removed*) etc

Cons:
NOTHING
Even tho there were some scenes that annoyed me for example some arguments and yellings from some members of the band here and there (thankfully not from the main couple, these were minor arguments) for sometimes not even a good enough reason, they were thankfully all dealt with and everyone apologized so I was really happy and actually really touched.

In conclusion: JUST WATCH THIS SHOW YOU WON’T REGRET IT

God, I've never wanted to kick myself over the head more than i do now. Ugh!! I hate myself for not being patient enough to watch it past the 2nd episode when it was released. I just stopped because the first episode didn't manage to capture attention that much. But last month i saw some clips on ig of MSP and decided to give it another try and I've been obsessed ever since. I've lost count of the amount of times I've re watched it. And i hate myself for not supporting my kids when around the time it was released when i clearly could have if only I'd had little more patience. TRUST ME ON THIS GUYS. You will fall in love with Tinn and Gun's love. Their love is just so pure and heartmelting that u will keep wanting more.
