Feel good Friendship drama

This drama is all about friendship between three friends and sharing each other's happiness, sadness, anger and embarrassment over lots of lots of drinks and food. This is a part mukbang part bromance drama with some romance sprinkled in between.

The drama was fun to watch with lots of emotional and happy moments. It was refreshing and funny. The casts were great. The foods were great. And the context was great. It reminded me of college and all those time hanging out with friends.

As the title says it has a lots of soju and beer in this drama and a lot of eating food. It has three main characters and all three get their own background stories.

It was over all a good drama. Definitely worth the watch.

A story of 3 working women who enjoy Soju as their beloved husband

We, An Soo He, Han Ji Yeon, and Jeng Eun Ji take you, So Ju , to be my husband, and I do promise and covenant, before God and these witnesses, to be your loving and faithful wife in plenty and in want, in joy and in sorrow, in sickness and in health, as long as we shall live.

After the holy matrimony, they drink and eat every day after returning from work and live happily ever after.
FL-1 An Soo Hee, is a reality show writer who works with the eccentric PD ML-1 Kang Buk Gu. Their relationship is the story's main plot, which is nothing new but refreshing.
FL-2 Han Ji Yeon is a stunningly beautiful, light-headed, and overly optimistic yoga instructor.
FL-3 Jung Eun Ji is a tomboyish youtuber with a darker background than the others.

The characters are very close to fictional-manga-like types, which are extremely rare in real life but still make logical sense. The score would be 7 out of 10, with 1 being a very realistic character, such as one in Misaeng, and 10 being a fantasy character, such as one in Goblin. This is to be expected given that the show is based on a Webtoon.

I like how the story alternates between past and present for character development.
The materials are not new, but they keep you going and keep you watching.
In most cases, I'll give a 7 out of 10. But because I am an anime fan, these stories and characters appeal to me. I give it a 9 out of 10.

Work Later, Drink Now (2021) - it may not be as appealing as the first parts of the drama but as it goes on I really like how they portrayed the friendship of the three female lead characters. It’s comedic but also emotional in the aspect that throughout the drama a lot has happened but the pacing and the how the story unfolded is not dragging at all. The male leads may not have the spotlight but it's fine with me since the three female leads carried the drama. A second season is much appreciated and waiting for it soon.

Drinking buddies

Work Later, Drink Now (2021)

What a wonderful surprise!

Likes
1. The first 3 episodes the girls were drinking so much, i felt drunk just watching them drink and drink and drink. Later on i got so used to them drinking i was numb, and even wanted to join their drinking binge. They drink not just because they love to drink, but it's also their way of coping with all the pressures and pleasures in life.
2. Episode 1 captures the 3 characters' personalities just through their drinking habits. And having #KimJiSuk cameo was perfect. Jiyeon is the crazy fun (embarrassing) friend and Sohee is the friend who always have work. It took some time for me to warm up to Jigoo because she is serious and silent but she's fierce and loyal and will be the first to protect you when needed.
3. I love their friendship! They have gone through so much, from heartbreaks, death, work issues, illness and they are always there for each other, no matter what happens or where they are. I would love to always have my fave bar where i can just spend the whole night chilling with my fave people.
4. I thought the story will be light and fun but their stories just got deeper and serious after each episode. Ep 9-10 were the saddest.
5. Choi Siwon as Kang Bukgu -just like Sohee, i think his character is disgusting but he's so soft, that you can't help but like him eventually. Now if only he stops being a jerk.

Dislikes
Not much. Each girl has their flaws, even Bukgoo, but then who is perfect? I want to see more of their stories in season 2! I hope we get more scenes with Mr. Nice paper. I think he's a sweet addition to the crazy group.

Rating: 8.5/10

Amei!

Concise

Dec. 8, 2021

Work Later, Drink Now is a very interesting story filled with love, laughter, and problems about the truth about human life. I love how this show highlights many problems. All the characters in the show are lovely. Especially our lovely 3 female leads, they are such goals. Just because on how they unfold and show growth throughout the series. I really wish they have a sequel because I really am invested in the series. I feel like there are more things that the directors can do. So hoping for season 2!

Good drama that you can relate to.

This is a wonderful two-sided drama. Its humor and jokes made me laugh and the main heroines' life stories made me cry my eyes out. So Hee's, Ji Yeon's, and Ji Gu's happiness, love, daily life, loss, grief, and, most importantly, optimism are beautifully presented. Soundtracks, shooting angles, and after-effects added a special atmosphere. It all created a pleasant drama. I like it because I can relate to the main heroines. By the way, the wonderful acting of the actresses should be emphasized, they incredibly reproduced emotions. I highly recommend this drama!

Good Enough

Korean Drama "Work Later, Drink Now" is a heartwarming drama about a beautiful friendship.

With some romance, enough comedy, and the right amount of drama and tragedy to keep it real, the drama was short and enjoyable. It has a lot of drinking, yes, but it is more than just three girls having a good time. It has some crazy moments, along with a realistic plotline and a smooth outcome. The choice to add some of the previous moments of the three friends was a smart choice, however, it messed up the timeline and, sometimes, it even confused the story. Still, the dynamics between the girls were strong and that might carry the drama to a possible second season.

As for the performances, everyone did a great job with their performances.

So, overall, 7.5 out of 10.

Give it a go! It's such a nice drama.

In the beginning, I didn't think I'd be able to finish this drama. It felt like it was going nowhere and the episodes were just not connected to one another and it was impossible for me to know where the story was heading to.
The girls felt also a bit itchy in the first episode or so. I really considered dropping the drama but it's not smth I like to do so here I am.

I didn't keep any notes, so I'll just try to keep this short and not focus on many aspects.
It was nice. It was so nice seeing them together no matter what the situation was about. Every heartbreak, the loss of a parent, getting fired, falling in love, being jealous, getting dumped seemed easier and happier with just the three of them enjoying themselves, some delicious dishes (at times even leftovers would do the job :p) and lots of soju and beer. They'd turn every gathering into a fun one, no matter what the reason that got them together was. They'd appreciate one another and help each other get on their feet.

I loved how they'd make time for one another anytime and how their friendship had resisted the time and had become stronger and better just like fine alcohol. I think we all want this: a family of people we've chosen that would put us first in many cases and make us feel loved and appreciated. I also loved loved loved how Hwang Dong Bae, the bar owner, showed up in the final episode during Han Ji Yeon's surgery. The man loved them dearly and was literally present in all of their weakest moments. ??

Btw, I hope you'll enjoy Han Ji Yeon's love for food and alcohol. I mean Ahn So Hee and Kang Ji Gu had it too but her face said it all?? And it was actually Han Ji Yeon that made me cry the most for some reason. She literally seemed so pure and felt like a sparkling light to me.

So yes, I say you give it a chance. You'll find some picturesque scenes, some funny moments and much love. It'll give you such positive energy.

Now if you'll excuse me... I'm off to S2.

Great Take on # female Sisters

I watched the whole series before I commented.

The reason I said three sisters, is because they were sisters. They were not Sisters by blood, but by what they went through. The see them go through what they did thick or thin was great. The chemistry between the three were great and it did not see artificial. I wish the Writers and Producers go more into the realm alcoholism.

Han Ji Yeon some people would think she was an airhead, that see was dense, you would be wrong. All one had to do is listen to want she was questioned. Kang Ji Gu, was a deep character to play. Of all of them, I think she was the one that wanted to loved the most. Ahn So Hee, my heart felt for her. I knew what she was going through because I went through the same thing

I recommend this Storyline. I will watch it again.

“Work Later, Drink Now” Review: Exhilarating, Heartbreaking And Fun

TVING has found massive success with “Work Later, Drink Now,” and here is a review of the drama and why it deserves the attention it has gotten.
When I say “Work Later, Drink Now” is one of the best kdramas I’ve seen in a while, I mean it. I am so upset at myself for not recognizing it sooner but thankfully I did, albeit a bit late.

I’ve been hearing people talk about “Work Later, Drink Now” a while back and I didn’t pay much attention to it, right now, there are many kdramas on the big channels that I must pay attention to and I nearly neglected this one. I am glad I ended up seeing it.

“Work Later, Drink Now” wrapped its run last month. I’ve binge-watched it and completed it in a day, its only 12 episodes and each episode is roughly 30 minutes so its a shorter format, which works wonders for the drama.

TVING has kicked 2021 with good dramas and honestly, thus far, they’ve released good dramas, this is arguably their best creation to date.

FYI, “Work Later, Drink Now” has found massive popularity in South Korea and contributed to TVING gaining mainstream attention, subscriptions to their service have seen a huge surge.
.. 》Initial impressions vs. final impressions《..

“Work Later, Drink Now” premiere didn’t honestly have the nicest introduction in my eyes, the drama almost romanticizes the idea of alcoholism and makes light of the heavy drinking problem the trio has, this felt a bit too on the nose at first, luckily, the drama picks up and tackles other interesting topics that go beyond what you’d expect from such a show.

“Work Later, Drink Now” is a life drama, its about many things and the drama manages to touch on many issues Koreans suffer from without it becoming too heartbreaking to watch, there is a mixture of happy and sad that is so well-balanced I was pleasantly surprised by that. It is not easy to achieve such balance but this drama does it with ease.
...》The plot《...
“Work Later, Drink Now” centers around a trio with different personalities who get together to drink at the end of a hectic day. The drama shows three women who live drastically different lifestyles getting together at the end of the day to share food and alcohol.
The drama also goes through each individual story and each one of them has a very complex story. Each character is crafted well and brought to life by the actors’ performances. At first, each character falls into an expected archetype that goes with such types of dramas. As the drama progresses, those same traits are properly explained, the characters are no longer 2D but 3D.
The drama doesn’t shy away from talking about an array of sensitive topics in Korean society such as suicide, LGBTQ+ rights, sexual harassment, sexual assault, mental health issues and more. But such topics don’t up consuming the drama to the point that it feels like they’re trying to deliver a message whilst forgetting about the core of the story. The drama remains fun and relatable.

One of the strengths of the drama is that past experiences are not only used as props for an episode to pad the run time, issues and happenings with the trio are explored throughout the drama’s run time and it was nice to see them incorporated beyond just a storyline for an episode.

...》Performances and chemistry《...

“Work Later, Drink Now” wouldn’t have worked this well if the cast wasn’t doing such an amazing job. They’re truly marvelous in their roles. The one that stood out the most was obviously Sunhwa.

I’ve seen her in dramas before but never like this, her performance here is one of the best performances by an actress this year, across the board and I’ve seen a lot of kdramas this year. At first, I hated her character, she was so annoying but the way she played her, she was simply stunning. She stole the spotlights many times.
Everyone else did a wonderful job, they truly did well with the casting this time.

The chemistry between the trio was great and their bond felt so real, I could see they got along pretty well with each other, the girls themselves said so too.

“Work Later, Drink Now” seasons 2 is getting discussed, and honestly, this is one of the very few kdramas I’d love to see return with a second season. It’s truly kdrama at it’s best. I hope kdrama creators watch this one to learn what works and what doesn’t.
