Love and Romance
This is the best bl series that I've watched and I will recommend this to my other friends who likes to watch bl series like this. And I hope they will have season 2. I'm enjoying watching fish upon the sky the series and the cast was good and I'm satisfying in watching this series, and the music was so romantic and I would like to download the music list or the OST of Fish upon the sky. And also I would like to have a picture from my favorite cast here in this series so that I would have a remembrance or a souvenir.Cet avis était-il utile?
Pontos bons a serem discutidos.

HAD TO DROP THIS AFTER EP 4. HELLO, CULTURAL APPROPRIATION!
It might not be my place to write a review for a series I’ve dropped but the elephant in the room has to be addressed which is CULTURAL APPROPRIATION. Sorry I’ve nothing against the rest of the show but this very scene about those guys disguised as Sikhs doesn’t sit right with me. There is a fine line between okay comedy and inappropriate comedy and that scene really didn’t handle that well. Something is funny ONLY till a smile sustains on the face and when that smile goes away and starts developing into more of a frown then we should know that there is something not right here. This series is packed with ridiculous comedy and is really not meant to be taken seriously which is okay. But even if we keep that in mind, I still cannot see how that scene is okay. The outfit represents the Sikh community which is a really respected community in India who are hailed for their bravery, morality and spirituality. And to use the same outfits in a scene like that made me feel uneasy. I don’t even know if the people involved in this knew what those outfit stood for and what were they going for with this but here it is. COMIC RELIEF AND IGNORANCE CANNOT JUSTIFY CULTURAL APPROPRIATION. It is too great of an issue. There has been several cases in the past where people have gotten in serious trouble for such depictions of various cultural. If a show or a film has to add some form of an element of a particular culture they should be extra careful with it. And with comedy, the carefulness becomes two fold because using an element of a culture for comedic purposes can be received as mockery and insensitivity. The people involved in the comedy should know better about that particular community /religion/culture and do their research and then should deliver it respectfully. Many comedians around the world know how much guts it takes to joke about religion and a particular community or culture and very few venture into these territories and come out as winners.
It is one thing to have a sense of humour and joke about yourself or your own religion or community or culture because you’re a part of it(however here too one has to be careful) and another for people belonging to other communities/religion/cultures to joke about another community/religion/culture. I shouldn’t have gone this far with it but it needed to be addressed. And so many people who are Indian are appreciating this inclusion which i can see to a degree why but their reason still doesn’t justify this form of cultural appropriation. I’m saying this in hopes of preventing any such depictions in the future as much as possible. Thank you for hearing me out:)

Cracky but lost in the trope
FUTS in a nutshell:"You like me"
"No I don't."
"You don't know it but you like me"
"Not really, I like-"
"Not only you like me but you really really like me"
"Actually, I like someone-"
"EVERYBODY, HE LOVES ME!"
"The hell-"
.
"Stranger, thanks for hearing me rant every night. I'm fed up with this guy at school."
"Yeah... you love him"
"What the-"
**DEAD**
.
Initial episodes were interesting, but the series kind of dragged a bit in the middle episodes. Mork was sweet and kind but felt a bit annoying for being too tenacious...? Like, you've already done your job...back off now buddy! If Pi likes you, he'll figure out on his own.
This series started off as a crack and should have stayed the overly ridiculous drama in all the episodes instead of only first few.

ONE OF THE BEST BL OF 2021
FIRST OF ALL, AMAZING CAST, AMAZING CHEMISTRY, AND AMAZING PRODUCTION. The only reason that I wanted to watch this in the first place is when I saw Pond as the main character. I was so amazed by his visuals, it is so refreshing to watch him act. Even though everything about this series is amazing, I don't think rewatching it will be great because to get to the point where they finally are a couple and accepted each other is literally in the last episode. Where the series might have some sweet scenes in the middle of the series, the whole is series is more of a process. Some acting are exaggerated like Duean, no hate tho. This series is also incredibly funny. ISTG IF YOU GUYS STILL DON'T WANT TO WATCH THIS, YOU'RE GONNA REGRET IT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!Cet avis était-il utile?

It didn't feel like fishing in the sky to me
Fish upon sky is not a bad series in fact it is quite entertaining, but it has some elements that do not work at all and it is what I would like to explore today. To begin with, the relationship between Pi and Mork seems problematic to me, I understand that the concept is to fight for love that seems almost impossible, but I don't know, at times it seemed to me that Mork was too insistent and yes know that in the end Pi did fall in love with him , but even so he had to go through too many things to reach acceptance, in the same way Pi was not a "good" person with Mork, most of the time he despised his feelings and the vast majority of the series had rather a complicated relationship . Actually my biggest complaint with this point is not that they stay together or not at the end, but the length of time that they were not, Mork and Pi do not meet until the penultimate chapter and break up in the next one only to return a few scenes later, I think that if the rhythm of the series had been different, I wouldn't have so much problem with their interactions before “falling in love”, it's just that you have 10 chapters where you don't feel any progress and 2 where too much happens, in that It's hard for me to feel his love as something so magical.
Now I would like to talk about two characters Mueang Nan and Mork, both of them to a greater or lesser extent could fit into the dream boy trope, they are both handsome, popular, rich, good students, blah blah blah, all that, the problem is that both lack development, we know a little more about Mork, for example that despite being so popular he does not feel that anyone sees him for what he is, that's fine, but beyond that, they are only as a vehicle to boost the history of Pi, he also have no development, Mork is great from the beginning and continues to be that way towards the end of the series, Nan for his part begins as a character that seems to be relevant but little by little the series is forgetting its existence and no longer It even appears in key moments, which seems strange to me because the initial problem of the series is the friendship that these two shared, but from a certain chapter it seems that there is no more; it seems to me an easy resource to eliminate a problem from your story, I think it would have been more game if Pi had to continue see to Nan and Mork and gradually realize that the former only likes him superficially or as a friend, regardless of that, Nan is a character that we do not know anything about and that does not change in the least at all throughout the story, in part, I understand that Nan has no development, it is true that Pi's feelings towards him do not a great impact on his life, but with Mork I cannot justify it, he is a protagonist.
Many times the's series sin in this type of situation, they present you the love between two characters, one who is all clumsiness and insecurities and the other who is practically an ideal god with some type of emotional lack, then during the development of the story we see how one character changes to the extreme (generally even in his appearance) while the other only falls in love and with that fills that void he had but is still as ideal as always, the problem is that these types of stories are boring and unfair for your characters, development is the best thing that can happen to a story and in that sense let's talk about Pi.
Pi, from the beginning it is clear that he has many problems to socialize, he is clumsy and cares too much what others think of him, his infatuation with Nan leads him to want to transform and like Ugly Betty, after a change of look he begins to get noticed at the University, the thing is that his problems are treated superficially, after his change Pi is still lonely, beyond Mork and the gang we do not see him interact with anyone and when he realizes the attention he is receiving in networks, it fills with anxiety, and let's talk about this, I do not know if it is because of the culture shock but I cannot connect with this, it seems that Pi needs to accept at all costs that his relationship with Mork is public because only so their feelings are genuine and I don't believe in that position people have the right to maintain their private-private life if it is what they want without having to explain themselves to anyone.
And the moment he publicly confesses his relationship he is so forced to do so and the truth is that no, your insecurities are not going to go away overnight, it is a serious issue treated as something minor and having so many people so involved in what he does can be more than harmful for such a person, he himself says "I am fragile, I can not stand these situations" and although apparently Mork supports him, in the metanarrative if he forces him to be public.
I think I will touch on a controversial point here: Duean and Meen, because I recently discovered that this seems to be one of the favorite couple, well, the first, nothing has to do with whether or not I like it as a couple, we'll get to that, it's the tone of this couple, for me it feels totally out of the series, as if they belong to another series with another format and they were stuck here almost with a shoehorn, and by this I do not mean that "cinematographically" they used other resources, if not all the elements that surround them, at a certain point I think they tried to make the story of Pi and Mork have more dramatic weight and all the "comedy" was delegated to the character of Duean and at least for me it does not work, his interactions with the rest of the characters are so overworked and irritating that it seems like they are not part of the same narrative universe.
As a couple Duean and Meen I do not like, to begin with, they have almost no screen time so their development is poor, their interactions are ugly, Duean treats Meen very badly from the beginning to the end and Meen I do not know if the intention is that he is naive or stupid, as I said this is a personal assessment, but I do not like couples with submissive elements. Duean doesn't even care about meeting Meen and I don't know maybe with more time I could have grown attached to them, but what I saw was not enough to agree with them and their feelings.
The brother of Pi and Duean is also one of those issues that the series left hanging, in the end he never had a conclusion with his parents, at least not an "explicit" one and it is something that is only there to say: "Pi you go, your parents have no problem ”, when really at the beginning of his infatuation with Nan it was not something that Pi seemed to worry about or even have considered before, besides that at the beginning it is also seen that many of insecurities he has them because his brother older is “cool” and they didn't take advantage of their interaction to give the character some peace or at least a moving talk.
All the drama with Bam, is so unnecessary, more because it happens in the last episode, there was literally no time to include it and even so they decided to do it and it clashes with everything we saw of the character before and it is also annoying that it usually has to being a female character who unleashes chaos, as if the only girl who goes out, was unable to deal with her emotions on her own and could not have reacted in another way, how I do not know how to talk to who apparently has been he her friend for so long time, it seems to me that it is something very subtly sexist, but above all censer, we were able to save all that and give more time on the screen to the relationship of Mork and Pi who were only together for about 15min.
The performances, both Phuwin and Pond did a great job, the last one being a great revelation for me, their moments together were really beautiful and if they had given us more of this it would be perfect, they both manage to convey their emotions and if you see them youthful spark of University love which is very nice, the rest of the cast was fine, but I think none of them really had much to demonstrate their abilities, they all have small and insignificant interactions with the protagonists; beyond Neo that if he is very overreacted, but in part I think that is the direction they gave to his character. But if I am going to highlight Mix, even though he has a very minimal participation, he is a great actor and he transmits a lot to you with his expressions.
Regarding the production, the series is quite good, it is the quality to which GMMTV has accustomed us despite the limitations of recording in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, photography, assembly, ost and direction , all its elements fit together in a very organic way, except at times is its scripts, they are still uncomfortable, although only in some scenes.
As I said at the beginning, I genuinely enjoyed Fish upon sky, it was a light series that I get a smile or two, but I can't help but acknowledge many of the problems it has, it is still not a bad series, which I do think is GMMTV is in a very comfortable position, they are a giant in the creation of BL series and although they have wonders like 1000Stars, they have dozens of other series that are too similar to each other and that contribute rather little, with the resources and talent they have they could explore making stories a little more transgressive, without having to leave the genre of comedy if that is what they want.
Lastly, I just want to say that I fell deeply in love with Pond and almost went into cardiac arrest, when they put him in glasses, thanks for that.

An important message Conveyed Beautifully and Hilariously
I liked this series. It tells about the negative effects Society can have on someone and how they are being traumatized. Pi was scared thanks to his surroundings not treating him properly. Mork helps him get better and makes him feel better about himself. For Duean and Mean's story. It proves how Kindness can prevail and you yourself can change even if your past isn't clean. And of course who can forget the Iconic "Dueannnn" And Duean's wild imagination in Ep 11.
Over all I think this series has made clear that Whatever a person maybe, never push them away, cause your actions affect them very much without you being aware. And the storyline has made it clear that sometimes being selfish in Love is the best.

Some illogical reasons that made me mutter in my head (and hearts?), making this series should be able to get higher points than this.
Phuwin and Pond's acting were really good, unfortunately it's not supported by the scripts.
In addition, this series is helped by the strong character of Mork who always made me blush. And also the love beans song which is very "Ear Catching" makes this show become one of the series that has a wonderful soundtrack of this year.

cast
Hii, it's really good so far but I just found out that all the main cast is literally around my age. I'm stunned, I thought the majority of them would all be at least 24 plus, but these guys ages ranged from 18-20 and that's just crazy to me idky. They are my age and they have come so far and have been in many shows and dramas. Super proud of them!!You don't have to read what's next, I'm just rambling.
Another stupid crazy thing about this website is that the review has to be at least 500 words? huh, why so? Am I writing a school report? Why does it gotta be so damn long just for a review? For a review, I expect at least 100 words max? I'm not a teacher reading through essays. Anyways- you guys don't have to read this part I'm just trying to fill in the 500-word gap.
Uhh what else should I write? OH- I have something to say. These next few lines are so may or may not have a spoiler, you have been warned.
So like, Mork right? Has this super huge crush on Pi, right? BUT the wrong thing he does is try to make him jealous. Pls- I've seen it many times in real life and in dramas. It's literally not the best thing to do. Also at this point of where I am in the show, Pi isn't jealous, He's just annoyed but honestly, I would too. Like that one scene where he's in the library literally trying to study and that girl Bam or whatever is trying to help Mork by making him (Pi) jealous. but really? girly why you gotta sound like that?
I dislike girls with super peppy voices, they just annoy the heck outta me. Pi handled it like a boss and just walked away, if that was me I would have probably gotten mad, not at Mork, but at the Bam girl for making her voice sound so weird. Anyways- hopefully, my rambling was enough to become a review. cya

Funny and cute though not exceptional
The episodes for this series were released on GMMTV’s YouTube channel on Friday nights after the impressive and much-praised 100stars ended. It seems that this invited some comparisons, but this is a much more typical BL.In Fish Upon the Sky, the main characters are university students (what’s new?) and we have a main and side couple. But Thai BL series this year seem to have a greater tendency to be self-reflexive, displaying and sometimes questioning BL conventions. This is in many way a typical BL, but like Lovely Writer, it also critiques the dark side of the BL fandom’s shipping.
The main couple is Pi and Mork. We see in Pi a rather familiar ugly duckling trope. GMMTV probably has to try harder to convince me about the ugly part, but it is interesting that Pi’s transformation to a swan takes place quite early in the story. This makes it a somewhat different spin to the ugly duckling trope – Pi remains awkward and diffident in many ways (though this isn’t always made obvious). But Pi’s behavior must be seen in this light. At first, he has a crush on Muang Nan, and seems to be a total dick to Mork, who secretly likes Pi and wants to befriend him. For a while, Pi rebuffs Mork regardless of how nice Mork is to him. This is quite plausible since Pi, as an ugly duckling, is used to people wanting to make use of him when they talk to him—he simply doesn’t believe that people would want to be his friend. (The affable Muang Nan, who doesn’t try to get close to him or get anything out of him, may be different in his eyes,)
When Pi and Mork eventually becomes a couple, Pi’s demands seem a tad unreasonable as one of the conditions is that Mork must keep their relationship a secret. This clearly isn’t because Pi is in the closet—he is quite openly gay except to his parents (earlier in the story). But I believe this is quite likely for someone who feels insecure—he neither wants to be mocked for being with a guy beyond his league nor be laughed at should the relationship not work out. The fact is that he has fallen in love with Mork even whilst he’s trying to convince himself that he is still in love with Muang Nan (his vehement denial that he is actually in love with Mork proves the suspicion). There is a beautifully shot scene of Mork helping Pi wash his hands after a lab session, which shows how in love Pi is.
The side couple is Duean and Meen. The series calls this “The Story of a Firth Year Student”—and the focus is on Duean, Pi’s elder brother, who should have graduated but has to retake a course before graduating. While the Pi/Mork parts of the series can be funny, the really comic parts are in the Duean/Meen segments. They aren’t really that interesting as a couple and they do not even become one by Episode 11 despite Duean’s open admission to Mork (Meen’s brother) about how he feels towards Meen. Nevertheless, Duean’s silly behavior can be really hilarious, especially in the first half of the series or so. He may not be someone you would want to meet in real life, but he’s entertaining as a character. He often behaves like an ass only to end up regretting his behavior and having to make up for what he has done, like when he gives Meen’s bottle away and then has to go through a whole lot of trouble to get it back when he thinks that it is a present from Meen’s late mother (she’s very much alive).
Unfortunately, Duean and Meen do not get developed much as a couple. There are obvious couple vibes from early on, and we know that they are supposed to be the side couple, but there isn’t that much of a love story despite the entertainment the scenes with Duean provides in the series. With Pi and Mork, we do at least get to see the transitions from hostility to tolerance and then to friendship and romance. With Duean and Meen, we get to see Duean’s diminishing assholery towards Meen, but there could have been more. I actually like The Story of a Fifth Year Student and wish there had been more attention on it.
This series will certainly not be everyone’s cup of tea. You are not going to get Tharntype’s sort of skinship (hey, the actor for Pi has not even turned eighteen). Neither will you get the 1000stars sort of touching grown-up love story. But you do get quite a decent BL comedy with rather high production values. To me, it’s better than recent offerings like the somewhat disappointing Tonhon and Chonlatee, the rather forgettable Gen-Y and the disjointed The Cupid Coach.

Watching hidden in plain site.
Is this BL cliche and absolutely goofy/unserious? Well yeah, it's Fish Upon the Sky babes. But with that being said, the ridiculous and insanely unbelievable antics that go on within this BL don't take away from the heartfelt moments between the two male leads. Moments that have lived in my head rent free years after first watching. Even the cliches come off more as endearing than annoying. For example, Mork revealing to Pi that he has always cared and loved him from afar is something I would roll my eyes to with a small smirk on my lips in any other BL. But Pond portrays the character with such an earnest and captivating charisma that I can't help but smile and giggle to myself while kicking my feet. Even with Phuwin's character, who should be highly unlikeable and irritating to watch. Is found out to be rather sympathetic and relatable. Which makes you want to root for Phuwin to end up with a man who truly cares for him deeply and admires him. The way he deserves to be, even if he's initially against the clearly destined romance. And despite being yet another University BL, Fish Upon the Sky has always been so different and unique, holding a special place in my heart as my favorite BL. Even after watching hundreds of them at this point. And no other has seemed to be able to match it's energy in how animated it's story and characters are, at least not without being so silly to the point of borderline unwatchable. Nor have they been able to capture such a genuine and loving connection like I feel Pond and Phuwin are able to give us every second they're on screen.
Oh and PondPhuwin >>>
