Not the best, but still a good one

Let me begin by saying how much I had to skip in this show. It could have easily just been an 8 episode drama, but they stretched it to 12 with so much content that was unnecessary that it was a letdown. The acting can be a bit, if not a lot, exaggerated, and the script wasn't the best either. There is so much more that I thought could have been done better.

But despite all the negative aspects, I did enjoy watching My Day a lot. The main actors were great, the story is a cliche, but the main leads' chemistry spread joy, and it can get people through the challenging parts of the show. Fortunately, I watched this show with the right frame of mind and thoroughly enjoyed most of it. It is a hit or a miss, and it was mainly a hit for me.

Mixed feelings but overall good watch.

I'm kind of torn how to rate this series because it was really good in some parts and then others, I found myself fast forwarding because it was either repetitive or unnecessary.

Starting out with the cons, I really couldn't stand about half the characters. I pretty much only liked Ace, Sky, Jam, Kim and Jake. Sky's parents were sweet and I loved how supportive they were but they sure didn't intervene when they should have a lot of the time. I mean, I can understand that Sky is not a child and he needs to make his own mistakes and all but he really could have used some tough love in some areas. I liked how his brother was supportive as well but his entire purpose was to sell the products of the sponsors so it got annoying pretty quick and I skipped almost every scene of his. He had one sweet moment with Sky and then everything else was all about product placement. Same with Miss Becky. She was a good support for Ace but honestly, there were way too many montages of her twirling around the mansion that added absolutely nothing to the plot or series in general.

Moira was an over the top baddie that was somewhat well written but, in my opinion, if you're going to make them THAT bad, they need to get their just rewards. And unfortunately, everyone hugged it out in the end and forgave her horribleness. Now, granted, I know nothing about law in the Philippines but she must have committed at least 3 crimes with her shenanigans. She did a full on B&E, kidnapped (dognapped) ChukChuk, planted a hidden camera without consent then released the video illegally.. oh and almost committed murder by putting peanuts in his food to purposefully trigger an allergic reaction. So then she comes to their house and sobs that she loved him and wanted to be with him while she was the one who broke it off in the first place. And we're supposed to feel bad for her? Honestly, they should have been hauling her ass to jail instead of hugging and apologizing to her.

There was a lot of time spent on her and other "time wasters" that really could have been skipped over (which I did). It would have easily cut down the series to maybe 9 or 10 episodes but it also would have gotten a higher rating from me...

.. because the pros of the series were actually really good. The story for the main couple was believable for the most part (crazy ex aside) and they had really good chemistry together. I actually liked that there were no side couples because Ace and Sky deserved all the focus on the romantic front. Their progression felt natural even if the acting was a bit over the top at times. It also felt like they bounced off each other well. In some parts, it seemed like there was no real script and they were just told to act a certain way and they ran with it.

I like how Kim was a good friend to Ace throughout and didn't turn into an ex like Moira. Granted Ace and Kim were never technically an item, but when she finally realized Ace would never feel the same way toward her, she didn't turn into the crazy, vindictive ex that Moira was. She supported Ace and his feelings.

While Ace's father was horrible and also pretty over the top, he did present a more realistic hurdle to their relationship which was worth watching. And even at the end, when he said he would work on himself, it was also good to see the more realistic portrayal of a parent not quite doing a full 180 turn overnight (because that kind of thing wouldn't happen in a "eureka" kind of moment in real life either) but we see the effort and the regret he has had for his previous way of thinking and realizing that it will cost him his relationship with Ace if he didn't change.

I think this is also the first series I'd ever seen where there was a reverse - or maybe it could be a double? - coming out conversation where Ace's mother explains her past with Ace's father and why she left.

While there was a lit of filler, I feel like the core conversations were really important in this series (like when Ace's father has his self reflective moment near the end.) There were a lot of poignant moments full of truths that I wish more people would grasp.

While I'm not certain if I would watch this often, I could see rewatching this again, especially as part of the trilogy with other people. It was enjoyable and I would recommend it as a lighter series with a few serious dramatic moments that will certainly hit all the feels.

Getting through the beginning of this pinoy series is not easy. It only gradually gains strength until it graduates powerfully (and beautifully) at the end. The two main characters are definitely a big plus, literally, including the love scenes hinted at later and also some scenes in the last two episodes, and thus the creators contribute to perhaps a growing understanding of the Asian population towards sexual minorities. The revelation of Ace's mother, a beautiful lesbian, whom his father threw away immediately after birth and took his son in, was also pleasant at the end...

When you get the first meringue after many hours, the fairy-tale fireworks explode, and that's when I started laughing for the first time, but otherwise the comedy was definitely not much for me. The three twisted creatures, which apparently make Asian audiences laugh, seemed more like crying to me. But you also get used to that and eventually you even get along well with them, because in parts of Asia and Oceania gays are still not well tolerated by a large part of society, but if a gay man behaves and dresses like a woman, then he is tolerated.

I have a positive assessment with considerable tolerance of Asian production, except for the script, which in some situations was breaking, incomprehensible, unexpected, in the face, and about three or four times I would like the behavior of Sky (the most pleasant character and phenomenon of the entire series, at least for me), above all in heated situations, edited. Overall, a nice feeling and a little tear at the end...

Extra

If a single word is to be selected to represent the series then it would be Extra.

Script/Story:
The base story even when it's repetitive is good but it is not supported by the whole script at all. There are unnecessary and repetitive dialogues. There are multiple dialogues all over the series where something is to be observed and understand but not verbally said, which leads to a whole lot of extra dialogues.
The structure of the script is just terrible. Something which would be better shown at the end or in the next set of episodes is shown directly in the next scene. Things just happen out of context in the series.
Because of these reasons, the pace also becomes too fast making the whole series CHAOTIC.
The character development of Ace was just too fast, it took a 180-degree turn without a strong reason.

Acting & Direction
Overacting, everything seems a bit extra.

Chemistry that makes you feel like you're intruding on someone's private life!

First off, screw everyone who deterred me away from this masterpiece. But also thank you! Because It was all the more sweeter as I watched all 12 episodes over the course of a few days. I am not sure why nobody will admit to straight just loving this show. It was phenomenal and completely different then what I was expecting. That's my main point for all you non watchers, this is a Filipino BL and it's fabulous. Open your mind and drop your expectations! It's funny, sad, ridiculous and just freaking steamy. Every time I see that scene where they knock over the lamp....I just melt into the floor. The production was well done and the main actors are the one of the best pairs in BL to date. I am not sure how they casted two amazing actors who meshed as well as Ace and Sky. Shoutout to ChukChuk, the 3rd lead of the show. The dog pulled his weight and then some! But seriously, if you were like me holding back, don't. Just take the leap, clear your mind and prepare for a progressive razzle dazzle from two of the finest BL actors out there.

Iñaki Torres lights and bright

I was encouraged to watch this series because of this comment and I couldn't be more grateful it's a gem for its realism for its excess of imagination to create a sitcom with few means and above all for the magnificent performance of the leading couple Iñaki Torres is a gem acting and when he appears on the screen and smiles the world lights up frankly recommendable that if you have to put up with the first two chapters because they are an excess even for those of us who are used to this type of development in BL peculiar but authentic authentic love expressed in fluid chemistry and magnificent and an underlying message of respect for diversity and commendable coexistence

Had Potential but Failed

**Brief Synopsis**
B (Intern): Sky
T (Owner's Son): Ace

B is an intern at the company T is currently managing as the owner's son. The story revolves around B and T starting out on bad terms because T isn't a very nice person and through spending more time together, they eventually fall in love, get together and even come out as a couple. The first season end with a happy ending but the second season, because the actor playing T didn't come back to monetary reasons, B and T breaks up and B meets someone else.

**My Opinion**

WHAT I LIKED ABOUT IT
- The concept was nice but badly executed.
- The boys looked adorable together.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT IT
- Villainize female characters for the sake of angst or plot. This show puts female characters under a bad light and make them do random stuff just for the sake of advancing the plot.
- The second season totally erases what happens in the first season. It just doesn't make sense for them to break up in the second season considering how in love they were in the first season and how much they had gone through together.
- The acting is a big weakness. The ensemble cast can get very cringey and the main leads lack the chemistry of some other couples. They are gorgeous and look good together. But it felt more as if they were best friends rather then lovers. They lack any small heart fluttering little interactions and look more like kids playing around.
- The writing and the plot is just cliche and awkward. The episode they got together was cute but it kind of went downhill after that. The plot where Moira tries to get revenge is just so random and the way she was planning it out makes her look like a cartoon villain. It was extremely cringe.
- The editing and the music. Unlike TW dramas, this show did not utilize music well enough to create an atmosphere of romance around the characters. Like I said, chemistry is lacking between the two actors, partly because of their acting, partly because of the editing and music.
- The episodes sometimes drags out and since nothing is happening, it's a little boring.
- Stereotypical gay characters often seen in BL just make things cringe. No character development from anyone making this a very superficial story.

**Conclusion**
This is a show you can skip or simply watch the beginning and the episode where they got together. There were some cute moments but the knowledge they broke up in season 2 just leaves a bad taste in my mouth especially considering how they just came out to everyone as a couple and said they loved each other at the end of season 1.

A Missed Potential Yet Salvageable Gem

Despite its shortcomings, "My Day" manages to capture our attention with a good plot and relatable characters, making it an enjoyable watch. While the series falls short in terms of a stronger storyline and well-developed characters, there is an evident effort that deserves recognition.

The story revolves around the contrasting lives of Ace and Sky, the two main characters. Ace, the son of a wealthy businessman, is portrayed as cold and indifferent to his employees, driven by the need to prove himself to his father. Sky who comes from a poor household, enters the company as an intern and instantly becomes a thorn in Ace's side. However, their relationship takes an unexpected turn when Sky demonstrates his capabilities as a dedicated worker. As they spend more time together, their feelings for each other begin to grow.

Though the basic premise follows a familiar enemies-to-lovers trope, the series shines through its exceptional protagonists albeit with multiple flaws. Ace's coldness and desire for his father's approval could have been further explored, adding depth to his character and serving as a point of contention with Sky, who possesses a caring and outgoing personality. Their interactions and understanding of each other could have been a central focus, culminating in a gradual affection. Additionally, the prestigious baking competition, initially introduced as a crucial plot point, was unfortunately rushed, missing an opportunity for greater exploration. Furthermore, the character of Moira, Sky's ex-girlfriend, had the potential to be a compelling antagonist, but her storyline felt underdeveloped and lacked the impact it could have had.

Despite these flaws, the series starts to gain momentum around the fourth episode, drawing viewers further into the story. While unnecessary scenes, basic dialogue, unexplained plot points, and excessive product placements may be present, there is an underlying attempt to present a meaningful BL story that deserves appreciation. The standout character of Ken, who portrays Sky's brother, adds a layer of flawlessness to the series, showcasing the actors' potential.

In conclusion, if you choose to watch "My Day," I recommend staying tuned until the fourth episode, where the story truly picks up. While the series has its faults, it demonstrates genuine efforts in presenting a BL narrative that many viewers will appreciate. And if all else fails, Ken's character alone is worth watching for. With room for improvement, the series offers a glimpse of what could have been a more refined and compelling series, leaving viewers with a mixture of enjoyment and anticipation for future BL productions.

BLeh!

This series is terrible. An apt one for 2020 because everything that could go wrong goes wrong. And then it sets itself on fire.

I’d like to say that the script is groan-inducingly written, but that would presume that a script was written in the first place. Sometimes it seems like the actors were simply told how the plot should end and were ultimately given the responsibility for finding their own way to get there. It just all adds up to a big, amorphous ball of confusion where there is uncertainty with everything from character motivation to where Ace parks his cars (We’ve seen where he lives and can safely conclude that a carpark isn’t annexed to his home). This series begs for subtlety in all aspects, even in product placement.

The only point of redemption is the obvious and organic chemistry of the leads, including their predilection for double entendres. So you do end up cheering for them somewhat, and forgiving their bad acting in the same way you overlook the bad acting in porn.

POOR ACTING AND NO STORY TO DIGEST

I can say that the story is quite simple,, there is not something special, there is no bomb. I would like to say that this series is somewhat remind me of a story I watched form vietnam bl series. the actors are good they can act but in a mediocre way. they are not effective actors, their acting is not convicing./ the supporting role came over and I don't know where they came from. I can say that they have a good visual the production design and the editing si good. but the setting doesn't used according to the scene. the throwing of lines is poor. i can say that this might get the audience based on the visual but when you watched it its kinda boring.

the actors are poor in expressing emotions.. very trying hard to act but the acting is flat... i can say that the production value of this series in terms of production design was well planned but the acting is poor, and the story is lame.

I wonder why this series is so popular

Actually this Series isn’t that good but also not the worst i’ve seen so far.
The chemistry of the Main Actors is good and there are some really sweet moments in there. They are very natural together and their flirty acting seems authentic to me. There are also some funny ideas, like the „disney-inspired over the top"-Scenes.

For a Pinoy-BL series this has very much budget for the Production and i can’t imagine what a good screenwriter with good actors could tell for a story...
Then let’s be honest, besides the positive Aspects ,mentioned abov,e the Show has nothing to offer.
Maybe the Bed and Kiss-Scenes, which were okay, but i’ve seen much that hotter and better. (Anyone seen Cheat or The Pornographer?!)

When it comes to the Story, this one is really terrifying and not in a good Way. Also the Acting of the Sidecharacters were sometimes a real torture.
But also the main Characters weren’t that good except their chemistry and their scenes together.
To be named, Aki Torres has servereal emotional Scenes like the Coming Out to his best Female Friend or the Dispute with his Father . By this Scenes i feel nothing....
So for me it’s a Fact, that he doesn’t have the Experience to handle a whole Show as a Main Actor.
Miko Gallardo was a little better, but not that much.
I’m also annoyed of the Fact that the (probaly) gay Actors shown as funny sidekicks, while two straight Men are the Main Actors. For me it ist a Slap in the Face for the LGBT-Community.

Further i’ve made the Mistake, by watching the Actor’s OffScreen-Drama during two episodes.(you can watch it on YT if you like), which kills also a lot of fun to watch the show.
So for me all in all a Mediocre Show but with a extra bitter taste of Toxicity and Money grubbing.

Poor Acting

The first 3 episode made me realized that I have to dropped watching this series because of the poor acting skills of the lead specially Ace Tan. Honestly the dogs are having more natural acting than the real actors. Jelai as a comic relief is such a mess,His role has no relevance in the story. Acting skills may drown off everything in the series because its the actors who tell the story, And the actors as well as the supporting actors are having a poor acting skills. so I am dropping this series.
