Unforgettable, unredeemable

If in "My Day The Series" I said Miko Gallardo and his steamy scenes had saved the day, this time they won't, they can't. The director went too crazy overboard by forcing a sequel to My Day that ended up instead with a forgettable, unredeemable movie in My Story.

First, Miko's love (Ace) just disappeared in thin air. And the UNCONVINCING (again!) justification is that their romance didn't work out. What?! After so much effort that was invested in My Day to creating a solid, till-death-do-us-part love life between Sky & Ace the director simply stuffed it out to naught? Incredible!

Second, by forcing a sequel, My Story became an endorser of the inaccurate homophobic notion that no strong bond between same-sex lovers could ever last long. It's a big slap to the LGBTQ+ community to promote such kind of idea.

Third, why didn't the director simply create a new brand of BL series in My Story rather than cover up the disappearance of Ace? (Ken's disappearance was not even given any reason at all.) That should have been acceptable to those who have learned to love the cast of My Day. I put all the blame on the unprofessional hands of the director.

Sky's the Limit

My Day is a jumpy kind of BL series that's scattered all over the place. I can't imagine the director seemed to be without focus and simply settled for sloppy acting.

Many scenes were so awkward, corny, and far-fetched from reality that I pitied the good actors coz they were made to look like stupid jerks. Take for instance when Sky (Miko Gallardo) pleaded for Ace to reconsider him as an intern. It was so corny and unconvincing I cringed in my seat! Nothing like it will ever happen in the real world, dude! (Well, I know it's a make-believe movie, but at least make us forget what it is. That's the test of a great drama--when you thought it was for real coz it's so convincing.)

Another thing is Ace's father who looks & acts more like a goon than a multimillion-$ CEO. His demeanor didn't exude an iota of sophistication common to the rich & famous. Then there's Sky's ugly girlfriend who entered his house like a bloody brute, and Sky's parents didn't even bother to shoo her away? Huh?! Unbelievable! Also, Ken's role selling online products and Ace's private housemaid's singing and dancing ala Sound of Music have no bearing whatsoever.to the story. Many similar scenes in My Day can be labelled "out of this world" and downright messy & silly. I simply skipped them to save time.

The redeeming glue that prevents the series from crumbling is the romantic scenes between Ace and Sky. (Let's be honest. Take those scenes away and you have nothing left but an empty can of worms.) Kudos to Miko Gallardo who showed great promise with his natural way of carrying himself throughout the story. His natural flare is captivating, easily making him adorable. Like his hot scenes, Sky's the limitation of the story. Take him out & it won't make your day!

Best of the Pinoy BL bunch

"Hello Stranger" is the BEST of the bunch, I think. It's realistic, relatable, and passionate. It's oozing with "kilig" factor, proving that s3x isn't at all a magic pill to have a sizzling BL series. The real magic lies in the ACTING (much credit goes to Tony Labrusca), the PLOT (simple yet sophisticated, unlike most BL's that are either empty or shallow), and above all the DIALOGUE & EDITING. The editing is superb in many ways: it's compact-- leaving no slack time; it doesn't give you everything in one plate or in a boring predictable lineup of events from A-Z, but maintains a sufficient amount of thrill and surprise in each succeeding episode (one example is the root cause of the lead actors ending up as partners in a school project); and the TIMING-- evolving from the easy to more complicated scenes without losing coherence till the end. The episodes are stitched so well they make a solid whole. "Hello Stranger" comes in 2 parts: Hello Stranger TV Series (8 episodes, can view or download from YouTube), and Hello Stranger The Movie (sequel to the TV Series). I find the TV Series more romantic and memorable.
