According to legend, in order to obtain terrible power, Dongfang Qing Cang of the Moon Tribe became an emotionless monster. He killed his father, seized the position of Moon Supreme and led an army of 100,000 Moon Tribe soldiers on a path of devastation. Shuiyuntian (the immortal fairy realm), Cangyan Sea (the Moon Tribe), and Yunmeng Lake (the mortal world) were in grave danger.
To save the world and stop Dongfang Qing Cang and his army, the first God of War of Shuiyuntian destroyed her primordial spirit. Dongfang Qing Cang’s army and primordial spirit were sealed and his body was locked away in Haotian Tower under the immortal bonds of the Haotian Matrix. However, if his primordial spirit was restored and Dongfang Qing Cang were to break free from his tower, the world would be in danger once more. Legend says that only the Goddess of Xishan can prevent this catastrophe, but she vanished without a trace.
30,000 years after the first God of War’s sacrifice, there was a disturbance in the Haotian Matrix. While attempting to help the new God of War reinforce the Matrix, Orchid, a weak and low-ranking flower fairy, accidentally finds herself inside Haotian Tower and face-to-face with the Moon Supreme himself. Their encounter sets off a chain of events that threatens to change the fate of the world once again.

Similarities between the two dramas (includes mild spoilers):
- A bad boy king falls in love with an idealistic, kind woman from an enemy nation. He takes her hostage for drama reasons and spends episodes pining over her. Meanwhile the FL has an internal battle that consists of, "I must not betray my country by falling for this hot evil enemy king who would die for me!"
- There's a secondary romance in which the king's shy guard falls for the FL's more outgoing subordinate/confidante.
- Secondary plot about the two respective countries potentially going to war with each other.
Differences (includes mild spoilers):
- The FL in DDH is mature and wise, while the FL in LBFAD is more childish and naive.
- Both have historical settings; however, LBFAD has magic and is set in a fantasy realm, while DDH has no magic and is set in the real world (in fictional countries).
- The side characters and plots were stronger in LBFAD, in my opinion.

The leads switch bodies twice.

This is a bad boy / purehearted girl romance. It is Cute+Fun+Light-hearted, but the actors and director took the production seriously. {Oh, the bad boy. Enjoy him on the screen, but run away IRL girls!} Dylan Wang has to play a woman in a man's body in some scenes. He is superb. The theme song is Spotify-worthy. FL is darling. The villain is slightly overdone, but that's common in Chinese features. The Chinese do excel at inflicting pain in their entertainment, but LBFAD won't rip your heart out, so it is a nice break from more intense dramas.
