IT'S DARK but that doesn't mean it should be avoided
This may not be everyone's cup of tea, but if anyone has the chance to, I would recommend them to watch this. This movie is a masterpiece. It is so confronting and it may be hard to watch at times, but don't stop, take it seriously. This movie presents the dark parts of the world some of us miss out on. Watch it and absorb all the things and this and please choose to make a change. This movie can be wrapped up as "right person, wrong time" but instead of skipping it because this isn't a fantasy or the story will not unfold as you want it to. Face it, some shows will make love unrealistic to GIVE YOU WHAT YOU WANT, romance. But this movie will give you the harsh reality. DON'T AVOID IT BECAUSE OF THAT, FACE IT.Cet avis était-il utile?

What a moment!
Now THIS is what I want to see come out of Asia more frequently, as a Westerner (New Zealand/Australia) it is so refreshing to see an LGBTQI+ film so well done outside of Europe or the trashy crap that comes from the U.S..And an LGBTQI+ film this certainly is because the normal BL series/film doesn't even come close!
I loved that the focus wasn't on sex or the characters being conventionally "hot" (even though they are very handsome). Gay culture revolves far too much around that rubbish. Even the one sex scene it did have was done so well you felt conflict between what felt wrong yet so right in their minds, instead of it just being steamy sex for the sake of it. They had great chemistry throughout.
Probably alot more I could say but I'm not a film critic, my heart broke for both of them and in the end to me it was a bitter sweet ending.
There's not a lot of gay films I would watch again but this is certainly added to the list.

surely not one you would want to skip
I am time and time again blown away by this movie. I feel like calling this a BL would limit how much this movie has to offer. How much this movie has is not just BL it's more than that. The element is undoubtedly present but it's not what drew me to the movie.STORY
just pure intense love. The kind of love that got you awake at 4 am in the morning scrolling over text messages. The movie is about love. Beautiful, selfish, careless, scary, sad love.
ACTING
every single moment is burned into my memory. I wanted to cry, scream, and laugh along with the characters. Pure raw emotions. No filter. It was like the cast was born to play these roles.
MUSIC
I loved it.
REWATCH VALUE/OVERALL
I would watch it again and again and again. It was like falling in love again. It was beautiful.

Beautiful Pain
It's a beautiful pain.I just casually watch it to spend my time, and ended up being in so much agony.
This is the type of story which left you a hollow feeling and destroy you internally.
BUT IT'S BEAUTIFUL.
Probably will become one of classic lgbt movie from Taiwan.
Everything about this movie is perfection. You can watch it time to time and it will still beautiful and even hits you harder as you notice a new details everytime. The emotion is captured and delivered perfectly
Now I even can shred tears when listening to it's OST. The Edward Chen's version is better, imo.

A movie that doesn’t have a happy ending nor sad ending.
It hurts so bad that both of them suffers and they didn’t become what they wanted to be but at the same time I am happy that both of them are still in a good place at the ending. I really wish that it has a sequel but I know that the flow of the story wasn’t really destined for another part. I really recommend this movie if you are a film enthusiast, it is really fun how the cinematography was constructed. The score of the film was too quite, but it’s a compliment. The scoring of the film had help to execute the scene; It is quite so it hurts so bad. The soundtracks are too nostalgic for me, it brings back the poignant scenes. The production is really great and it is really executed well. I also want to commend the artist who portrayed the roles for their professionalism and skills that they showed us within this film. (I would love to see the actors to play another BL film or in a BL Series.) The Director really shows us what is in his shoe looks like and thank you for that. Assim que vi o primeiro trailer, meses antes do lançamento, eu soube que seria o tipo de filme que eu iria amar, que eu acabaria chorando e não foi diferente. Your Name Engraved Herein (Seu Nome Gravado em Mim) é uma verdadeira obra de arte 100% baseada em fatos reais (o que pesou ainda mais na história).O filme passa quando a lei marcial tinha acabado de terminar, então ainda assim temos uma sociedade machista e extremamente homofóbica, tanto que ao longo do filme temos mais de um exemplo do que acontece com aqueles que falam abertamente que são homossexuais. Então, é bem compreensível como tanto o Padre quanto o Birdy agem desde o começo do filme. Pelos trailers pensei que o Padre Oliver seria um personagem que eu odiaria, mas ficou impossível no momento que percebi que ele só estava tentando proteger o A Han.
Uma das cenas mais impactantes pra mim, é quando o A Han pergunta para o padre Oliver o seguinte: "Seu amor é maior que o meu? Qual a diferença entre seu amor e o meu? Fala a diferença" depois disso pra mim, foi tudo a baixo e no final do filme eu estava chorando enquanto os créditos subiam.
É uma verdadeira montanha russa de sentimentos, é um filme tão realista e tão cheio de emoção que é impossível não se comover. As atuações foram impecáveis tanto quanto a cenografia e a trilha sonora, principalmente a música do final com o título do filme, cada parte perfeita e essencial pra fazer um filme sensível e tocante como esse. Todo mundo deveria dar pelo menos uma chance para esse filme incrível que é, com certeza, um dos melhores que assisti esse ano.

This is the first Chinese BL film I’ve ever watched I have watched many BL films and dramas in the past but not one quite like this. The story line was a little bit confusing to get at first but ones I got it made it more so real. I cryed a few times while watching this it hurt me to see there struggles but I was happy that the ending was better then I imagined it. Without spoiling it too much the two main characters are very good friends and one of them developers feeling for the friend, and it shows there friendship right until the end. The soundtrack and some of the songs played throughout Bring me at peace wen I hear traditional Asian music it brings me to peace and the main song played at the end your name engraved in Herein had me in the most tears I get emotional wen watching real good dramas I could feel there pain and there Bond the acting was amazing until the end so if you going to watch it go for it don’t hesitate just watch itSorry about the long review (///▽///) I hope this was helpful

Not for me
I actually couldn't get to the end of this.The story itself and what transpired in those times was heartbreaking, but the characters and the flow of this movie just wasn't for me, i did end up fast forwarding through some of the parts.
Despite the two main characters having a bit of chemistry and a connection it really touched on the story itself. The reality behind the story was a bit difficult to grasp.
The pain of the male leads being explained to the priest etc.. was touching.
This movie was just not for me.

movie about two young man are falling love in each other they don’t love each other because they are gay it’s pure love for me movie was so artistic musics are (even i watch like 10 times i still open that song on spotify ..) great acting is so good (even they don’t really famous) i can’t tell anything bad about story it’s real and perfect thats my fave movie i would recommend this everyone (that song… the phone scene and the ending almost killing me ) but the worst part of this it’s a real story that makes my heart really bad … ??Cet avis était-il utile?
Sweet? No . Beautiful? Yes
This movies is on another level. Love between two students being so beautifully and realistically drawn . It showed the definition of unrequited love and I found myself cry at some point because the struggles and problems, the desperation between the two leads were demonstrated so well.The acting, cinematography, music and edit were all done so well. I like how BL themed movies/series are improving within their overall context and this one here is leading the way.

Truly Realistic Movie
Since the story happens in the 80s, you guys know that LGBT was really taboo and... unfamiliar with society.This is really realistic - yes, two men might share the same feelings, but then what? Will the society accept them? Will the people think of them as crazy? Will they endure?
Their friendship eventually turns into something more passionate. What will happen to the young boys? And what's more amazing is that this is based on the true story. Well, damn you, director for making me bawling.
AND I read that the two main leads even lived together for some times, writing letters to each other so that they could feel the roles better. Kudos for them and staffs for giving us this masterpiece.
