Unintentionally hilarious
This series was honestly so bad it went back to being good again just for the amusement factor. It looked like a high school film class project. They seem to have shot all the exterior scenes at the crack of dawn as there was never anyone around and they clearly couldn’t afford any extras. The acting was pretty appalling thought the guy who played Jing Jim Ming was the better actor of the two by far, the other guy , Ding Jun Jie wore the same expression throughout, even the sex scene had him looking entirely disinterested.
Both main guys were very pretty though, no denying that!
The plot was terrible, the series blurb made much more of the fake boyfriend thing when that was barely relevant. It just limped along never quite taking off.
Yet - - - I watched the whole series so there was something captivating about it somehow and now it’s ended I’m puzzled why I didn’t give up.
No rewatch factor, terrible music, yada yada.

This show is a bit all over the place. Questionable editing, awful music and far to many of the ‘comedy’ sound effects and the plot? - well the it completely lost the plot. It kept cutting to black for a second - what was that all about? Worst of all is when they show the same shot from 3 or 4 different angles. It’s annoying and an obvious time filler. This show could easily have been 10 episodes and cut all the crap out. Up until episode 9 the show was haphazard but enjoyable. Then Fighter and Tutor go to the beach, and yes the sex scene is very hot, but the rest... I thought they would never leave the beach! Zon and Saifah don’t make an appearance for nearly two episodes. Episode 10 was so boring I almost turned the whole thing off never to return.
There were just so many loose ends. I liked Hwahwa, but she lost her way half way through and got over Fighter in five seconds flat as soon as Day batted his eyes lashes at her making her seem completely shallow. I liked the idea of her and Pete’s friendship and would’ve liked more back story there.
I found all four of the main boys quite engaging. Saint is the only actor I’ve seen before and he was so much better in this that in Love By Chance, probably because his LBC character was a Mary-Sue. In this show his character had a lot more depth, though they needed to build on that more I think e.g. his family are broke but his mother still had enough cash to buy him a condo - you don’t just go around buying your kids condos if you’re bankrupt and having to work off your debts as a cleaner or whatever it was she was doing! Fighter won my heart in this one - and although it’s cheesy, all the shots of him taking off his shirt find no complain from me... very nice happy trail! The chemistry between Fighter and Tutor is sizzling.
The second couple, Zon and Saifah were cute and both very pretty - but I didn’t feel much chemistry and it all seemed a bit awkward. The whole idea that Zon had fallen into a BL novel didn’t work as they didn’t use it enough, which is a shame as it couldn’t been a more unique twist on the genre.
I can’t leave this review (or is it just a rant, idk) without mentioning my disappointment at the lack of development of some of the side characters. Japan and thingy were totally forgettable but let’s talk about little Blue... and Dew... and Champ. Totally being lined up for a three-way/love triangle? All we got was Blue inviting Dew into his house with a really naff ‘oh yeah’ sound effect. What the heck? Champ clearly had the hots for Blue as did Dew and the three of the together... Does a threeway relationship overstep the Thai BL boundaries? Maybe. Still. I’m annoyed the whole thing fizzled to nothing. Why bother with the side romances if they are just going to be unsatisfying filler?
My rewatch value for this show is almost nothing. Since I discovered this genre I’ve rewatched SOTUS many times, and I can’t stop watching 2Gether as it’s like comfort food, but there’s nothing about this show that would make me watch again other than Zee/Fighter taking off his shirt and I am sure I could find a compilation of that on YouTube. It’s definitely worth watching the one time though, you can always cook your dinner while episode 10 stutters along!

Where to start with this? I’m really not getting the love for this show. I thought it was pretty dire. The main couple were utterly unlikeable and I was not invested in them at all, they both should be with other people from the start. They had zero chemistry all the way through. I really did not feel them. Khai was mean and a bad friend. Third was whiny and pathetic.
I like Off as an actor, but this role did him no favours. As for Gun - did never change from the two expressions of pouty/sulky?
I was rooting for the side couple way more than the main one. White was great (note to self to watch Waterboy). I also love Mike whom I first saw in 2Gether - but his story was depressing until the end.
By episode 5 I was ready to give up but I wanted to see if it got any better. It did not.
Other things to comment on. What was with the little man bags Khai sported? I’m so out of fashion! Khai reminded me of Blaine from Pretty in Pink.
Why does Third wear such unflattering oversized clothes?
Why did Third never take off his backpack?
Why did no on all an Ambulance when Khai came of his bike?
The fact that I am picking at petty things just shows how dull this show was. It ha promise, but the lack of chemistry between the two leads was a huge failure. I know they are friends in real life but in this show even the friendship seemed forced.

SOTUS was my first BL and I totally fell for this couple as well as developed a massive crush on Krist. So this was the second ever BL. I loved it because it was them rather than for the storyline.
I think a lot of the boring stuff that happened at Arthit’s workplace could’ve been cut out and replaced with more Arthit/Kongpob screen time! Some of that was dull, I mean who cares about parts for a plastic grill? Why did Arthit have to have such a boring job? Come on writers, do what you’re paid for!
Also, come on, a bit more snogging between the two wouldn’t have gone amiss. It was so frustrating - even if Arthit’s character didn’t want PDA then behind closed doors it would be nice!
I had been hoping for some Wad/Prem action as well, but Wad ‘mysteriously’ had to go and care for his dad so wasn’t in this show. Shame!
I find it odd that a couple of years into a relationship that Arthit wouldn’t even know that Kongpob's dad was the boss of some big company. Fair enough that their families still didn’t know about them but surely you’d mention it? I’d like to have known moire about Arthit’s family too but no mention is ever made.
My heart broke when they parted for a while - stupid Arthit - but when they made up again I fell in love with them all over again.
Despite my complaining there was no Wad/Prem, SOTUS didn’t have the pointless side couples like other shows I’ve discovered since seem to have too many of. One is fine. SOTUS S had some half-arsed attempts at side coupling: Yong and the other apprentice engineer, Nai, making pie eyes at one another but it didn’t come to much (and that Yong guy is hot in other things but that moustache he has in this does him no favours), and Tew and that whiny kid, Dae, who turns out to be Arthit’s boss’s son - that just made Tew look like a creeper. Also Earth and Todd that was pointless. Less of this and more of the main couple please! More of Arthit and Kongpob’s university friends would be nice too.
Obviously I will watch again, I love my boys, but I may skip most of the unnecessary side stuff that added nothing.

Korn and Knock are too easy on the eye
I made it through the whole series but not without fast forwarding through some of the storyline for Yiwha and Cho and ALL of the storylines for Farm and Dr Creepy. Dr Creepy makes my flesh crawl and Farm is a total dick in this series.I had turned into this sequel with the hope of something that I did not get. Korn and Knock are both so pretty that they are a joy to watch - good actors as well I should say, I’m not totally shallow - but their story was a depressing one.
Cheating Korn broke my heart, especially as he cheated with the second most creepy character in the show, Pervy Pete. He’d had a drink but was not hammered and he gave in and shagged the man who was not only his boss but so slimy and creepy looking - WTF, cheat on Knock with that... *shudders*
After the cheating I actually did not want Knock to forgive him because I don’t think I could, Not drunk, not upset, not angry after an argument... I’d have to have been drugged to go anywhere near Pervy Pete and honestly, it was totally out of character for Korn. OK so his dad had been giving him a hard time but that was not a reason to shag someone else. When I read a review that this happened before I saw it I had though that he might cheat with a girl as he as trying to be the son his dad wanted or something and that might’ve been understandable. Pervy Pete though, just - yuck.
As the series moved on through, I wanted them back together as they do belong with one another and I am glad they reconciled and that Pete got his comeuppance. It was hilarious watching as all the boys happened upon Pete with their shirts off, he must’ve thought he’d died and gone to heaven!
I loved both sets of parents in this. Knock’s dad was the best as he transitioned from horror that his son was in a relationship with a man to pretty much fanboying at the couple and being far more amp than either of the boys.
What happened to Korn’s sister though, no mention of her at all, and didn’t they live in that house by the canal in the first TWM?
I loved that Knock’s parent’s house (and sofa!) was the same set as Can’s house in Love By Chance (I may have watched the Tin/Can highlights a few too many times).
I didn’t notice what the music was, I’d only rewatch for the pretty, but I did enjoy this series.

I binge watched this over a four days so obviously I enjoyed it enough to keep going despite some of my misgivings as it progressed.I loved the early nod to SOTUS (and it gave me hope) and later realised that it’s the same director. Unfortunately this series was no SOTUS.
Let’s start with Bohn and Duen. I liked them both as separate entities but together they were flat. Bohn goes from a womaniser to being madly in love with Duen based on a couple of conversations and zero chemistry. I could ship Bohn with literally any other cast member and it would work better... Bohn/Frong, Bohn/First, Bohn/King, Bohn/Ram, Bohn/Duen’s father - see what I mean? The actor is very nice to look at though so that did help ;-)
As for Duen, well he was a sweet character but totally wet. What was all the fuss about his little sister getting a kiss off the little boy? Seriously? My 7 year old ‘lost’ his first kiss aged about one, I’m totally over it!
Maybe the relationship would’ve been more believable if they’d kissed AT ALL. Sleeping in the same bed, Bohn asking Duen to move in with him and they hadn’t even kissed? So unrealistic and really annoying and frustrating to watch. Again, I could ship Duen with others quite easily... Duen/Frong, Duen/First, Duen/the gear statue...
Next up is Ram and King. These two stole the show. They are the reason I’m anticipating at second series. Great chemistry, a real build up of UST and friendship between the two.
Let’s not forget Mek and Boss. These two were quite sweet but I don’t feel they added anything to the show. Boring and a bit annoying in parts, particularly Boss.
Then there is Frong and Thara. This is obviously leading into the second series. I just hope the give Thara a personality this time. I like Frong, I hope he gets a happy ending.
The story was nothing new. This is why I liked King and Ram so much, their story was a bright spot amongst all of Bohn and Duen’s non-kisses, jealous moments and tenuous misunderstandings.
A couple of things amused me in the casting though. Bohn’s ‘blond’ nephew. Yeah, if that kid is blond and has spent any time living in the UK then I’m famous Korean actress. Then Ram’s mother - first of all they keep calling him mixed race and fine, the actor clearly is (Australian apparently) then they point out his foreign mother... then when we see the mother she is clearly NOT a native English speaker, the way she pronounced ‘clothes’ makes that especially apparent - then when Ram talks to her in English his accent is Australian but where did the character get that accent when his mother talks like that?!
Another thing - what the hell was going on with Mek? I watch with English subtitles so it took me a little while to notice that Mek was dubbed as I was reading text not looking at his lips. Once I noticed I thought I was losing my mind! If they needed to dub the actor (apparently he was Chinese who spoke poor Thai-why did they even cast him?) they could at least make the voice sound like it came from that person. Sounded like a 40-year old man coming out of a pretty 18-year old kid. So weird!
Lastly - how much of a let down was the waterfall - I was expecting something grand not a teeny trickle like that. Obviously the location budget was tiny!
Overall this was good enough but if I was to rewatch it will be a YouTube compilation of Ram/King. I will watch a second series no question.

I’ve been an m/m fan fiction reader and writer for many years, twisting ‘straight’ characters to fall in love... Arthur and Merlin. Harry and Draco... and that has been amazing because it filled a gap in my shipper’s heart. I had NO idea that this whole BL genre existed as an actual thing. I’ve seen a few LGBT movies and enjoyed them but I wasn’t inspired to watch them again...but me watching those prompted Netflix to recommend SOTUS and that was the moment my life changed. Actual boys falling in love with boys. What the hell was this heaven? OMG.
So SOTUS was my first BL adventure. It’s launched me into a whole new world and I’m working my way through other shows, mostly via YouTube (husband is not happy that I’m using his premium account and he keeps getting recced BL shows!) - but I’ve yet to find another series as good as SOTUS.
Now that I’ve seen a few other shows I can appreciate that this show doesn’t have a load of pointless side couples, just ones that add to the story. That said - Prem and Wad totally needed to get it on and I was surprised that never materialised in this show.
Kongpob and Arthit are just perfect together. Would I have liked more kissing - hell yes, I’m human, and that first kiss was one of the most awkward TV kisses I’ve ever seen but I still squealed when it happened because it was them. I adore them. I love how Arthit goes from fierce Hazer to putty in Kongpob’s hands. I love the UST between them and the banter. I just LOVE them.
The supporting cast, particularly M and all of Arthit’s friends were great. It was looking them up and following Prem to a new show that helped me discover 2Gether.
I’m more than a little in love with Krist Perawat Sangpotirat to the extent that I might have to stray from BL to follow him in his other work. Such a good actor and incredibly easy on the eye as well. I love him and Singto together - I fell down a YouTube rabbit hole watching them.
I’ll be surprised if I find another show to top this one.

I really don’t understand the love for this show.I wanted to like it, I really did, but from the start Tharn is just a sex pest /abuser. He should be in prison!
Yes Type was homophobic but he had reasons.
There are no reasons or excuses to molest someone in their sleep.
I abandoned the show after the molestation and went to watch something else but decided to come back and see if it got better. I made it through episode 6 and decided it’s just that worth it. I can’t support a relationship based on abuse.
How is this portrayed as normal in this day and age?

Addictive
This series was recommended to me and it did not disappoint until the very end and that was probably due to the Chinese banning the show so we can have no sequel. There was something so raw and honest about these two boys. Great chemistry. Their need for each other as the series progressed was tangible. There were some questionable actions in part but the boys had so many feelings it was almost inevitable that they manifested as they did.
I binge watched over two nights. Highly recommended.

I had a love/hate relationship with this series.Let’s talk about the couples in the show. I’ll be leaving the best for last:
Firstly Ae and Pete. They’re pretty boring. I didn’t see much chemistry at all. There’s no drama really after the blackmailing (and bizarrely never seen again) Trump vanishes. They get together and I was totally underwhelmed. The steamy locker scene which pops up on YouTube as soon as you type in the series names is as hot as it gets and after that it’s pretty tame with chaste kisses like they never got down and dirty in the locker room. I just don’t like these two as a couple and wasn’t that invested in them. I’ve read that due to some dispute Pete won’t be in series 2 and I won’t miss him...his character is a total Mary-Sue.
I could not care less about the weird brothers Tum and Tar. Zzzzz. The younger one looked all of 11 years old and the older one was just a creep who at one point almost rapes the kid. I ended up fast forwarding when they came on!
Techno and Kengkla - what the hell? Kengkla stalks Techno for the whole series then rapes him. If they turn this into an actual love match for series 2 I’ll be horrified. How is this okay? Well, the answer is that it’s not but I’m finding that these BL dramas seem to enjoy a bit of non-con as foreplay like it’s normal (see TharnType). I hope Techno gets justice not more of the same. I like Techno!
Tin and Can - oh my heart, I love these two! At the beginning I found Can really annoying but he really did grow on me. The way he clearly falls for Tin but can’t process the feelings is adorable. He just wanted to keep Tin in his life but Tin couldn’t deal with it and when he’s crying in the shower my heart broke. Oh, and that cinema scene - perfect.
Tin and Can are why I will watch series 2. I want them together!
Onto other characters in this show, special mention to the character of Pond. Pond is possibly the most annoying character I have ever seen on any television show EVER. There is literally nothing good about him. Hopefully he’ll fall off a building in the next series. Yuck.
I loved Good and his very slooow voice. I hope he gets more action in series 2. Also like Champ and the Type in this series is way less whiny than the one in TharnType which can only be a good thing. Let’s not forget Gucci the dog. So cute.

I’m new to BL shows and I found this show by looking up what cast members of SOTUS are doing now. Therefore I followed Gun (Prem in SOTUS, Boss in 2Gether). The show was already on episode 12 when I started but I did watch episode 13 on the day it was released.I have very shallow reasons for loving this show as much as I do. Overall I have rated 7 for various reasons but the rewatch value is 10 because I honestly could watch Bright forever.
I liked the chemistry, the (not enough) kisses, the music (never heard of Scrubb before but I liked it) and the angst.
I had a problem with the following:
The way Green was treated - yes he was a plot device and a pain in the ass, but there was no need to be so mean to him, especially when Tine then went and stalked Sarawat and Man stalked Type. Also, trying to drug Green? How is that acceptable?
What happened to the kisses - they became an actual couple and suddenly no kissing - not even at the reconciliation scene at the end - we got a high five instead? Were the socially distancing at that point in filming due to Covid? If so, understandable, but there was other touching. Also, lack of sex once they moved into together - poor old Sarawat was still begging for a kiss on the cheek even then!
Mil and Phukong - kid, he’s just not that into you, give it a rest okay?
Females - hardly any girls in this show and then along comes Pam to put a spanner in the works and become the villain. It was a poor attempt. Also my 80 year old gran is called Pam so I found the name a bit fuddy duddy!
The whole Pam thing - these last couple of episodes were really poor. Could’ve made so much better drama with just a couple of changes like maybe Sarawat doesn’t see that Tine has seen him hugging Pam and then sees Tine leaving with Mil. Sarawat then thinks Tine has left him for Mil. In fact, I think I might have to fanfic that if someone hasn’t already...
So the highlights are Bright, Bright, Bright.... and the music. I’m also loving the fan fiction this show has generated which has way better endings than the actual show.
Still, roll on the five new episodes they just announced. I’m crossing my fingers for kissing and more scenes with Bright without his top on.

I’m feeling incredibly shallow, but I have got to admit that the main appeal of this show has to be the two main actors playing Korn and Knock. Both of them are smoking hot and together they were on fire. Their story wasn’t that great, Knock’s evil girlfriend was hilarious and I really struggled to work out her motive for sticking around once she twigged that her boyfriend was more into his best friend than her, well, other than the aforementioned hotness.
I loved the other female characters, Yiwha and Fai though, nice to see female characters with a good amount of screen time and to see them rooting for the boys.
The side couples though - Farm and Dr Creepy made me shudder. I’m glad Fran kicked him into touch at the end though it was sad to see Farm morphing into some kind of badass by suddenly wearing black clothes instead of white and getting off with blokes in the toilet. Phuket and Kavitra didn’t really have any chemistry and I felt they had been shoehorned in, but as separate characters they were supportive to the main couple.
Shout out to the cute actor that played Mew, Korn’s ex. I’d like to see more of him, maybe a lead role in another BL.
Not much rewatch factor here though, just highlights of the sexy bits!

The reviews agree that my instinct was correct and that ‘off’ was the best thing to do with this show.
In the few minutes I watched I found the lead actor rather creepy and sorry to be shallow, too unattractive for the part given that he was referred to by the supporting cast as some sort of hunk! A hunk he was not. If you’re saying hunk I want a hunk. When it started I though he was a support character rather than a lead.
Life is too short for me to go any further with this show.

I have to admit I was not blown away. I love Pete and Kao as a couple and it was good to see their moments together. I felt that the Non character was utterly ridiculous. They built that whole thing up just to throw in a bit of angst and it just didn’t work.
I did like the Mork/Sun storyline but at the same time I found Sun to be a bit of a creeper. I’d prefer Mork with Non that with Sun - rich boy Non and thuggish (poor?) Mork. I might have to check AO3 for any fanfic of that pairing...
I don’t feel inspired to watch this series again although I did enjoy it, there’s nothing screaming at me to repeat. Perhaps it’s shallow reasons... all such attractive main actors but none of them ‘do it’ for me like Krist or Bright do.
