If you are looking for a serious drama about cut-throat politics, this is definitely not for you. 'Into the Ring' is a quirky and goofy drama about a woman in her late 20s, who decides to run for a spot in District People's Council just because it pays well and you only have to work for 90 days in total. That sounds like a great plan for Goo Se Ra aka the queen of complaints, who doesn't have a stable career or income and so begins her journey to the land, where she has to represent citizens and constantly deal with corrupt politicians while also maintaining her personal relationships.

I've always been interested in politics, so when I read the description of this drama, I was instantly drawn to it and I couldn't wait for it to finish airing so I could finally watch it. And I have to say, that I wasn't disappointed. At first, Goo Se Ra seemed like your typical annoying FL, who will make you constantly roll your eyes, but pretty soon she proved herself to be a strong female hero, even an icon you might say. She's surely not the smartest cookie in the jar, she makes questionable decisions and her moral compass is not always pointing north, but despite that, you can't help but like her, because she's only being herself. On the other hand, we have Seo Gong Myung, a civil servant, who is cold, critical of his peers and always does everything by the book without much care for others. These two characters couldn't be more different, which makes their interactions funny to say the least. We also see Se Ra's family, her friends, council members and a bunch of other characters, who appear from time to time. Sometimes it's hard to keep track of all these different personalities, but I have to say, that supporting characters are not in this show just to be here, they also have their distinct storylines albeit there's not much focus on them.

The cinematography is also interesting, since this drama is shot a bit differently from others. I think, there's a specific effect, used during filming, which gives this show a unique perspective. Personally, I liked it. In addition to that, I have to mention the OST, which included truly beautiful songs and fit the scenes perfectly. And the acting was believable. I haven't seen anything with Nana before, but I really liked her in this role. As for Park Sung Hoon, I've seen him play a serial killer in 'Psychopath Diary' and after seeing this, I admit, that he has an incredible range. I also really liked actors, who played Se Ra's friends: Shin Do Hyun, Kim Mi Soo and especially Choi Go, that kid is amazing.

I think this drama is greatly underrated and underappreciated, so I want to encourage those, who enjoy funny, heartfelt, romantic dramas with peculiar and unique plot, to watch this one and decide for yourselves, if it's worth your time. I certainly think that it is, but that's just me :)
