Some dogs were harmed!

I would like to start this review by saying I'm probably not the targeted demographic for this show. i'm not very big on violence and Family Matters has a lot of it. After watching just the first episode I thought I wouldn't be able to finish the whole thing but seeing it was only 6 episodes long I decided to buckle up and take it like a champ, and I'm honestly glad I did it.
Family Matters might not be SK's new masterpiece but it is a fun watch with a somewhat new concept. Not all characters are likeable at first but their character arcs worked in their favour (at least for me, feel free to disagree).
I would also like to applaud the lack of gore simply for shock value, although I'm not a fan of violence (as stated previously) and this show has it's fair share of it, none of the harm seemed to be done just for the sake of doing it: it all served a purpose to the story.
P.S.: I'm still pissed about Simbok, had to take some points just for him.

Snoozefest in the Forest, drinks on me!

I want to start this review in a positive note, so here are the things I liked about "The Frog":
1. Acting
2. Soundtrack
3. Imagery
Unfortunately not even the hard work of these mentioned parts was enough to save this trainwreck. In the end I caught myself wishing the crazy lady story didn't exist at all because at least the secondary story with the failed hotel business and the serial killer had some potential, especially with Park Chanyeol's surprising great performance. Would it be a revolutionary concept with a groundbreaking storyline? Probably not, but at least it would've made more sense and would be much less boring. Unlike the other reviewers, I didn't find the show confusing or graphic at all: it's pretty easy to follow, just badly written. It seems like the writers didn't spend any time on the characters of the main story at all they simply said "act unhinged" to Go Minsi and she gave them the performance of her life.
If they cared more about the characters' backstories and motivations I feel like it wouldn't be as bad as it was. As it is right now, it's just violence for the sake of violence and that can never be art.
ON A LIGHTER NOTE: god, i love the daughter and the detective

Not my cup of tea but still a great art piece.

If you have become familiar with my reviews on MDL you will know I'm not a fan of violence in general and therefore it's a given "Somebody" wouldn't be exactly a favourite of mine. Nonetheless, I don't hate it at all: the acting is magnificent and the storyline comes full circle in the end.
I think the ambience deserves it's credit as well because for many many times I felt terrified of a reality that wasn't even mine. If you are a fan of this genre and more slow paced pieces of media, you will probably enjoy this title as well.

Only SK could make me cry for a man...

*Sigh* How do I even start?
At first I avoided Yumi Cell's like the plague because the premise didn't seem all that interesting to me but once I gave it a chance, the cells really got me. And then Yumi did. And then Wung.
Even as someone who could not imagine themselves with a man, their relationship got me giggling and kicking my feet until it didn't. I hated Bobby from day one. I hated how Wung seemed to change out of nowhere. I even started questioning whether they were ruining his character because of something to do with the actor.
But then I got it.
Yumi Cell's is annoyingly relatable: the characters will have you screaming, crying and throwing up and the trajectory of Yumi and Wung's relationship almost made me wanna drop the show. But then I realized that it all made perfect sense. They are both very human. The situations they get into are very real. And as much as I wanna believe everything could be perfect, that's just not reality, and Yumi Cell's makes one hell of a case for it (becoming the perfect mirror image of real life).
