I'd love to experience the New World myself
I love this show for various reasons such as the concept, the casts and the location it was filmed. The overall theme on this show is dreamy and very fairytale-like.Let me start with the concept. When I saw the synopsis of the show on Netflix, I really found it interesting. Throughout the show, the whole idea of New World has been explained clearly. This variety show reminds me of Busted!-like framework wherein there's a plot/pattern that are being followed but at the same time it is not scripted and the characters are able to express themselves freely.
The casts are also big personalities on the variety show world like SeungGi, NaRae, HeeChul and JiWon. On the otherhand, Kai is known as an EXO member and BoAh is a known actress. They really have a good chemistry together. Competition and games aside, I think they really fit well on this show.
Before I forget to mention, the filming location is fantastic. Based on my searches it was filmed on Oedo Island and everything on the island is breath-taking. I would love to visit the New World myself.
Overall, I love this show although I do admit that I felt like some episodes are
a bit dull but it's just a small part of it. Besides the 8-episode fits perfectly on my busy schedule just fine and made me laugh my stress away. I can't wait to watch a 2nd season if there will be one.
Revelation of dark secrets of a school intertwined with the students and their high official parents
This crime, legal, mystery-suspense filled drama portrays the entangled and dark story of a school being reigned by privileged parents and their children creating an imbalance on a proper function of a school. Even though it was set on a high school, the plot is really dark and the tragic theme is all throughout the drama. The drama even started on the murder scene itself.Plot-wise it's drama that will pique your interest by making you wonder what will gonna happen next and who is who although I felt like it lacks texture because the plot is linear. It's about the main lead trying to expose the dark truth about high officials and their privileged children which is the same with similar genre drama, the only difference are the details itself. There's a lot of complications introduced every episode that will confuse you but the flow of the story is linear, there are no plot twists to expect. There are also lots of illegal things that the main lead did that was absurd given he's a lawyer but I get that the intention is good. What I love on this drama though is that most dramas are just light that will make you feel a roller coaster of emotions from being sad to happy but this drama is not about those. While watching it, I felt the pain, the helplessness, and realized the absurdity of people. If you're into tragedy type of genre this is well recommended.
The casts here are new faces for me, aside from Yoon GyunSang whom I've seen from other dramas before and he's still a good actor. His character grew emotions throughout the film which he doesn't have when he was first introduced as a lawyer who only have eyes in winning cases. For the other new faces I don't have expectations. Geum SaeRok is a new face to me, she's good at being bubbly and being the 'good teacher' but since the story starts to become darker and heavier each episode I felt like she's a bit lacking on expressing negative emotions like sadness. Jun is the one that I mostly noticed here since his role has the most complexity. I saw how versatile his acting is because I also fell for his angelic attitude and when he switched into a bad guy mode, I literally cursed his character BeomJin.
Overall, I liked this drama and every episode I keep wanting for more. There are lots of things that I've learned her like life lessons together with the characters. I loved how each one of them grow from all the events and tragedies that happened. I felt like I was with them.
Interesting movie that will really stick on your mind after watching it. Really mind-blowing
The is the same as what you will expect once you heard that it's about a woman abducted forcefully to be locked up on a mental hospital, and a man who tries to uncover the mystery regarding the abduction in order for him to be back on his career. There were several times that I really doubted the story because I watched a movie before that has two possibilities so I thought, this movie might be wanting me to think she was insane but what if she isn't? I was getting ready on the twist this movie is offering, it didn't disappoint me and instead it actually left me mind-blown. None of the theories' I've come up is correct.Lee SangYoon's character here is consistent all throughout the film and I think he pulled it off. Kang Ye Won on the other hand, amazed me on how great she pulled the character on this movie. It drove me insane really.
If you're ready to be crazy after watching this movie, you should probably watch this.
Unexpectedly thrilling, funny and ridiculous at the same time
When it comes to the story plot, it's actually unique given that it has all the genres you cannot possibly think of together. At first I thought it would be just a typical rom-com story just a different scenario but I was shocked because it explored drama and mystery genre while keeping it's romantic comedy side. It was good overall however the combination of mystery and comedy at some scenes makes it look childish to me because it shows how serious the character is then suddenly it becomes a comedy out of nowhere. Also at the ending part for the reveal, the story seems not connecting to me. It didn't gave much of what I expected like an impact or the 'wow factor'. But still a nice drama to watch for starter plus the story isn't that long either consisting 10 episodes. The casts is like a bunch of good catch. I got to know new faces that I haven't seen before like the 2nd lead and also Mir, the main lead's rival.
It's irritating when the sounds gives off that creepy/mystery vibe because I think it's exaggerating. Sometimes I get confused about the emotions to feel. I'm not so sure if they want me to feel thrilled or if they want to make me laugh so I just ended up confused and appalled. But plus points for the songs that NakGu sang. It is sooooo cool. Double thumbs up for that.
The story is overall cute and it's also unpredictable so I might be part of the 'out-of-nowhere I want to re-watch' drama
Powerful acting and a story full of meaningful metaphor
I've been holding off to watch this movie and I am so glad that I finally did. I am also flabbergasted that I like this movie. The best part that I love is the powerful acting for the both leads. They had that charm that you want to keep watching them. Specially, the iconic argument scene. I literally held my breath during that scene. Most serious scene on dramas usually have that tense vibe that feels scripted like a movie. Like it's a scene happening just on dramas but the exchange of lines on this movie, it felt real. I can imagine it happening in real life. Props to the scriptwriter for choosing the right words. (Sorry for non-native Filipino because the English subtitle won't be able to translate the tension and full of emotion of the lines.)
This would be a bit debatable but for me, it wrapped up the movie really well. It is indeed confusing and open-ended however if you analyze like the little clues here and there, you'd be able to realize that it's a very appropriate ending.
Overall, I really really love this movie.
The Zone 2.0
I don't have high hopes for this new season given how confused I am with Season 1 but I guess Season 2's a charm. I thought it just started off good on the 1st episode but as I watched through them, Season 2 is definitely a revamped version. I love how the episodes/simulations has more structure to it unlike Season 1 where I feel like everything's all over the place.Aside from us seeing the coward duo face their fears (which is almost everything although the top ones are ghosts and heights), we kind of see them more on a more team-like dynamic. On Season 1, I felt like YuRi is just carrying the team but this Season 2, we start to see them work together (although there's still a lot of bickering here and there) I am not exactly sure what changed but this season is more fun to watch and much more relatable to me.
Now, I am looking forward to Season 3 (if Disney+ still have plans of renewing it) Yoo-Lee duo on variety shows never gets old so I'll always watch out and root for them.
Let me introduce Ssangmun-dong
There is so much to unpack in this series. This is definitely one of those series wherein after you watched it, you'll never be the same person before you watched it. You just kinda grow and mature with the characters. The story. I love how it has a little bit of everything: friendship, family, love, career, decisions almost everything that life offers. The depiction is too relatable that even after watching it I felt like it has become a part of me.
The characters. I just love the dynamic of how everyone interacts with each other. The chemistry of the entire village is unmatched. The friendship among the 5 Ssangmun children. The variety of each and every family. The uniqueness of everyone which made the story even more colorful.
There's so much I wanted to say about this series but I felt like my words can't justify the whole beauty of it.
I definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to watch a light-hearted, funny and lesson-filled drama. 31 hours of my time is so worth it for this series.
It's a story of emotions and real life story
I would say the story is a bit overrated because when I first watch the first few episodes I don't know what I'm even watching or expecting but as I watch further, I realized why so many people loved it. The story consists of real emotions that you can easily relate to and emotions that people don't usually talk about.I love how IU's versatility was once again proven in this series. The complexity of her character brought out more of her talents as well as the male lead. I really feel like everyone performed well and it can be shown on the chemistry and the way they deliver the right emotions.
I'm glad that I decided to finish this series though I started confused, I got to love how it turned out. I really recommend this as it has a lot of meaningful life lessons. Fighting!
Are you ready for your first drama counselling?
This is an unexpectedly good watch. I just randomly selected from the list of series I plan to watch and bumped on this hidden gem drama. Aside from Lee YooMi (that I've watched from All Of Us Are Dead) I don't know much about the other casts or I haven't seen them from other dramas that's why I'm a bit hesitant to start watching it but I'm really glad I did.The story is so heartwarming and it brings up my emotions throughout the series and it taught me how to accept my wounds and start healing from them. And I love seeing the journey of the characters' ups and downs. It's never an instant medicine but it's a process and sometimes long process to heal from our emotions. Even if I'm not an athlete, I was able to relate to this series and I'm sure this will touch your hearts too. I find Jegal Gil funny too with his recklessness and attitude so I really enjoyed watching it.
If you're having second-thoughts about this series, don't fear and just watch it. It will be inspirational and worth your time so I definitely recommend it specially if you're going through something, you might find some healing on this series like I did.
I thought it was a light-hearted movie yet it ended up tragically
Queen YooJung made it again. I actually miss watching YooJung and I haven't seen her on both movies and dramas for a while so I really got excited about this new movie. And as usual she delivers. I missed her youthful appearance in a show. I still can't see her doing mature roles. She's still teen and a high school fairy for me.Enough of YooJung though, let's get int the plot. I was actually ecstatic watching the first hour. I saw myself giggling, laughing and relating to the characters. It took me back to those high school crushes days that everyone might have experienced. Then I get that along the way, conflict must arise and I kind of predicted it from the beginning. Everything is all good until after WoonHo left. I felt like they should've ended it there but they just thought it would be nice to have a twist. I didn't feel heartbroken that he died. I feel mad that I was hoping a happy ending yet they gave me a tragedy, It's my personal agony though.
If you've been reading through this, I hoped you've watched the movie already because I basically spilled everything here. I warned though that spoilers are here. I still loved the movie though and myghad, there's a lot of oppa's here. I never thought of Byeon Woo Seok until this movie. I just discovered a new oppa to add on my list. Anyway, overall. This is still a fairly good movie to watch so I still highly recommend it specially for fans of YooJung.
Mind-blowing crime thriller with a twist of time warp
This is one of the most outstanding crime, detective series I have watched. I love how there different stories told within the story itself. The cases actually has more depth than usual and actually stirs emotions. Unlike, most crime dramas, Signal didn't revolved around corruption only but more on the story of its characters so very good job on that. Most of the times I find shows which has vintage feels to it confusing or boring but here I really appreciate how it takes us back to 1989 when I wasn't even born. The cinematography added that vintage feels that it won't be hard to tell which is the past and the present. The OST also complements the overall mood of the show. The song has 90's feel to it which I surprisingly get addicted into.
My mind is still blown on how the story went and I admit although the ending is a bit confusing for me, I really enjoyed the journey of watching each drama. All characters are really interesting and their chemistry on screen is superb. My time is definitely worth it. Thumbs up to the Kingdom screenwriter who wrote such an amazing story. The elements of the story like the time warp, the cases, the slight humor, the emotions, it was risky to be put together because it can end up a disaster but this one stayed consistent from start to finish.
I don't really re-watch heavy dramas and crime thriller because the excitement is no longer there 2nd time around as I know what happened already. But if there's one thing I can assure, the story is really worth it. If you're a crime thriller seeker and loves emotional dramas, this a very good recommendation. Heads up to those who doesn't like vague ending though as this drama has an open-ended finale.
Pretty interesting character chemistry
The mystery serial killing plotline is pretty common among similar genre but the the scenario on how the settings has been established is pretty unique.I really loved the duo's chemistry. It was my first time seeing a movie that is being starred by older actors and they totally nailed it. I know this is not a comedy genre but I find myself smiling because of the characters combination.
As for the story, it's pretty cliché in terms of similar genres but there's something in the story that will keep you watching it. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. There's also minor plot twists that I never knew that was coming.
Overall, I really enjoyed watching this movie. I keep rooting for the characters and I'm glad how it turned out. I really recommend this if you're a fan of investigative thriller movies.
Would you like a soju that will relief your grudge? Watch this
All I can remember is I had a fun ride watching this series and it's also bite-size because of it's 12 episodes. The plot is very interesting and the twists and turns are really exciting so I definitely recommend this drama. The casts were also picked perfectly. This trio is really something worth remembering. This is fun ride that will take you to a different world and I really enjoyed it.
(I know this review is crappy because I made this months after I watched this series and I honestly don't remember everything that I watch by heart. I just remember the major details and how I feel about it. I'll edit this after I re-watch it this year.)
A definitely good school drama to binge-watch and reminisce school days
This is a different story from it's sequel so you can watch this without watching the first one. However, for those like me who's really curious who is the 'master' there were decent clues that still connects this second series to the first one. I'll share my conclusions and predictions regarding the "master" on the second part of my review.Okay, so what can I say about Revenge Note 2? The pattern of revenge is the same but since this 2nd series has longer air time, the story got better since the characters were explored more in depth than the first one. Although, I can say that the first few episodes actually felt slow and also repetitive since the first one already addressed like the school bullying. But then I guess it's just a way to introduce the characters since the settings are mainly at school. The plot is pretty predictable but I still enjoy it anyway. The execution of the story gives nostalgic memories of high school days.
As for the cast, sadly Cha EunWoo is not on this series but thankfully Samuel is here to save the day. (Half joke, half reality) I loved that the main character had more circle of friends and more people around them that allows more exploration that is relatable. Everyone did their part and made their characters come to life well aside from Geum SooJi. (I am damn confused whether it's the character or the actress that messed it up but I don't know what is the goal of her existence. She felt more of like a good student than a bully. But anyway it might just be me.) Another cast that I really loved to see is Ho GooJoon. It gave me that slightest hope that maybe the first and second story will somehow merge into one big picture. (Although, it didn't. I'm still hoping. I know now why a lot of people demands Season 3.)
Overall, I really enjoyed watching this and I had a good laugh once in a while throughout the series that I really think was funny.
------
For those curious about the "master" I formulated a conclusion based on the hints I've gathered while watching the show. Although, DISCLAIMER: I am not saying that my conclusion is correct. There's no clear proof as well that what I'm thinking is right. I just wanna share this and hopefully know other people's conclusions as well.
On Revenge Note 1, I've concluded it was Ho GooJoon who had created the app for his younger sister. Seeing him in Season 2, make it feel like he really has something to do with it somehow. In this Season 2, there was this scene where Teacher Maeng and Ho GooJoon went to the programming club room of some sort where a flashback of an old member making an app/program of some sort that will help people like 'him' nothing is further specified but that person died and Teacher Maeng promised to continue what he hasn't finished. The app might have been created by several people and not just one person alone. It's most likely that Robin is also involved in creating the app or at least know something about it. Someone is invited to be there and he happened to be not around with his friends to eat lunch. There were also some hint that GooJoon knows Robin. Robin used the same technique as GooJoon in finding clues on a picture (which is via reflection of objects caught on a picture). On one of Robin's artwork on the rooftop, there's also a drawing of lightning which is oddly similar to the app's logo. This theory however go against other people's theory that JaeYi is involved in making the app. For me, JaeYi is just really a genius who knows a lot of things about programming and fixing gadgets.
Some people might ask how the revenge is executed but from what I understand, the app is really working mysteriously like magic. Because almost all of the revenge happens in unnatural way like how they suddenly trip or got soak wet in the water which is completely uncontrollable. They just suddenly become unlucky of some sort.
For any other theories you might have, you can comment it down so that I can read it. :)
What an epic unexpected action comedy film that makes it to my best movies of all times
I'm not sure if it's the same for whoever is reading this but this movie is just right up my alley. Not that I hate action but I find it boring with just that so combining it with a subtle comedy is exactly my taste.I've seen this movie in a poster on the drama, "Class of Lies" and then bumped into it into several advertisements and made me curious what this movie is about. I had no expectations at all on what's coming but it made me laugh so hard. The plot itself is absurd but watching it happening is really funny. They're like a group of crazy people like me.
The casts really portrayed their role well. It doesn't feel awkward at all and I cannot imagine any characters to be replaced by someone else. The action scenes are good, not too over the top and just enough.
I don't know why but although the plot is absurd, I really loved it because everything feels natural and everything just fell into its proper places without feeling off. This is really one of the best movies I can recommend and you can also watch with family.
