Not your average contract marriage romance

This is not your average C-drama. When I first read the description for this drama I thought this would be your standard fall in love and happy ever after kind of drama, but this had so much more depth to it that I would have thought.

The drama main problem with this drama is that the first few episodes started on a high. From the very beginning, it had a very promising theme, storyline along with some great actors. The problem with starting off well, however, is that if you don't keep building on that high it's super easy to slip and in this case, the drama slipped and fell down the rabbit hole of disappointment.

There was a lot that was done right during this drama:
1. Female lead was a badass – I kinda hate how in C-dramas in particular (but a lot of drama are guilty of it) make the females weak and helpless. We did not see that here! She had moments of vulnerability but overall she was a pretty strong character.
2. The scenes between the main characters were super cute throughout and as their characters grew these scenes matured but still didn't lose the cute fun-loving charm.
3. It's predictable, but there are few fun plot twists
4. We see some form of character development from nearly everyone – plus the supporting cast was super cute!

I 100% recommend you watch this drama, but to make it fair there were parts that were not so great, which you should be aware of:
1. Second lead syndrome doesn't exist here - the side couples relationships were not the highlight of this watch and didn't add to the overall viewing enjoyment.
2. The business politics part of the drama was kinda boring and honestly, I still don't really get what was going on, but I don't think it's super essential to the story (There is only one/two reasons why its needed but that would be a SPOILER)

This drama is really good and I would recommend it if you want to watch something a bit lighthearted!

Words can't even describe it....

This is one of those rare and unique dramas that I think everyone should watch for many different reasons. Throughout I was on the edge of my seat wondering where this story was going to take me next. Unlike some dramas I've watched, I never felt that the story was dragging and it developed at a good pace so there was never a dull moment.

The dark and twisted storyline kept leading our characters through quite often traumatic experiences that were sometimes uncomfortable yet fascinating to watch. Also, this drama touched on many psychological issues that can sometimes be demonised in mainstream media, but in this case, I think they were portrayed well and helped give people more of an understanding on what everyday people may be going through. Normally I don't think a lot of lessons can be taken from kdramas, but in this case, this drama gave us the viewers some valuable lessons on life and family to reflect on.

The cast and characters were amazing and bounced off each other's energy leading to great on-screen chemistry. You can really feel the deep emotions the characters were experiencing that sometimes made me forget that I was watching a TV show. Don't worry though these often depressing emotions were well balanced with innocent and pure love that helped to added reality to this drama. Sometimes dramas can be guilty of making love within a drama a bit cheesy, but this drama was the complete opposite. The love that the characters showed (whether it was to a love interest or a family member) felt real and genuine. The blend of all these high and low emotions really helped add the level of complexity that is experienced in real-life to this drama.

Now stop reading the reviews and go watch this drama – Don't miss out!!

Unique but confusing

This drama is anything but conventional – we see a mix of quirky characters in a high school that suffer from a range of dilemmas from potential love interests to typical teen angst to sometimes even more dark and serious issues that help bring this otherwise bizarre drama back to reality. Personally, I don't think I've seen such serious messages conveyed in such a unique way and I think this has a lot of that has to do with the special effects that were used. They really helped add to the oddness of the drama and in a way helped add a bit of brightness to this overwise quite dark drama.

Our main lead is BB gun-wielding, jelly fighting school nurse who is eccentric and unusual most of the time, which I personally loved, but I could see her being over the top for others watching. The rest of the cast and characters also had many loveable and sometimes odd personality traits, which really helped create depth in the storyline of this drama.

But honestly, I was confused a large part of the time. With this drama being only six episodes I think there was an obvious rush to cover as many aspects of the story as possible which unfortunately left behind many plot holes. The only good thing about this drama being short was that I didn't feel that it dragged at all, but I think that was because there wasn't a chance for this drama to get a bit boring because they were already onto the next topic.

We also get some resolution at the end of this sometimes confusing drama, but it wasn't exactly how I pictured this ending. I felt that a lot of things were left unsaid, but maybe they are planning a second season in the future to cover up the holes they created?

Unexpectedly good

I've had this drama on my list for a while to watch but never got around to it. Every time I read the synopsis I kept thinking I wouldn't like this drama and since it didn't receive the same love that other popular dramas that were released around the same time had it went straight to the bottom of my list. But I was so wrong to leave it there until now!

This drama has everything you need from a drama. There was suspense, drama and of course romance! From the very beginning, this storyline had me hooked. It touched on a lot of topics that we don't often see being included in other dramas like adoption, relationship abuse, wrongful conviction and more, which is why I think this had a lot more impact.

Here are just some more reasons as to why I really enjoyed this drama:
1. Stellar acting from all the cast they really helped bring this drama to life. They way they helped the characters develop was amazing and the characters relationships made way for some really heartwarming moments
2. It has great cinematic appeal!
3. There were quite a few twists and turns that I didn't expect coming that really added to the story
4.. Watching Kang Woo Joo (Go Na Hee) and Ji Eun Soo (Lee Yoo Ri)'s relationship blossom was really the highlight of the drama for me and the emotions that they conveyed left me feeling teary-eyed on occasion.
5. I really enjoyed watching Ji Eun Soo (Lee Yoo Ri)'s in particular and the journey this character goes on is really inspiring. Although she was released from prison with a vendetta I enjoyed how the character grew and realised the people who originally put her in prison weren't worth it, which gave us the chance to see glimpses of her finally enjoying her life.

If it's not on your list to watch I would highly recommend giving it a go!

There was so much promise...

Honestly, I was super excited for this drama and as soon as I saw the trailer I decided not to watch ANYTHING until every episode had been aired. When I finally got the chance to sit down and start watching it however the excitement I once had disappeared just like the plot of this drama.

The main problem with this drama is that the first few episodes started on a high. From the very beginning, it had a very promising theme, storyline along with some great actors. The problem with starting off well, however, is that if you don't keep building on that high it's super easy to slip and in this case, the drama slipped and fell down the rabbit hole of disappointment.

After episode 5, everything really started to crash and burn. I've listed below just a few of the reason why this happened:
1. Main male lead kinda annoyed me – he whined a lot, felt sorry for himself and got a bit dramatic.
2. Some scenes just felt so irrelevant and others were just awkward to watch.
3. I rarely ever skip past the romance scenes of the main characters, but in this case, I did because they just weren't it.
4. SOOOOO much wasted potential with quite a few characters development.
5. Uncomfortably predictable story - Mainly because I really didn't enjoy the drawn-out love triangle and just didn't want it to end the way it did.
6. Sign me up for the inaccurate way they portray start-ups where no-one really has any business experience

Don't get me wrong the reasons I have listed above plus many others (which would be spoilers so I won't divulge any more) are why I will probably never watch this drama again. But if you haven't watched it I would still recommend it for the things that were done right during this drama:
1. Kim Seon Ho who hands down was one of the best actors/characters during this drama
2. The development of some of the characters relationships with each other did leave me feeling a bit emosh
3. It was nice to watch visually – the shots were great and it did have a lot of cinematic appeal
4. I know I've mentioned it before but it deserves to be mentioned again – Kim Seon Ho!

At the end of the day, I don't regret watching this drama, but there was so much wasted potential. They had some many chances to flip the script and create a unique and interesting ending. Instead, it became predictable and similar to basically every basic romantic k-drama.

I've had this drama on my list for a while to watch but honestly avoided watching. I didn't really like the American version of this (the one with Zac Efron), so I was worried how this would. But I was so wrong to leave it there until now!

As with most things Kdrama remakes are more often than not 1000 times better than the other versions made. There was an opportunity for a second chance, hard-working mum, troubled kids and not to forget the romance! From the very beginning, this storyline had me hooked. It touched on a lot of topics like divorce, career struggles, bullying and more, which is why I think this had a lot more impact and gave the chance for this drama to have some really heartwarming moments.

Here are just some more reasons as to why I really enjoyed this drama:
1. The cast was great and they really helped bring this drama to life!
2. There were quite a few twists and turns that I didn't expect coming that really added to the story
3. Glimpses into the future (any more would be a spoiler)
4. Watching Hong Dae Young's relationships with his kids was really the highlight of the drama for me. It was really great to watch both sides of him (old and young) develop and see how his perspective on his children changed the more he got to know them. It was really emotional and left me feeling teary-eyed on occasion.
5. This drama had some really intense moments that drew you in, but I really liked how it was balanced with some well-timed comedy. In particular, there were many scenes with Go Deok Jin made me laugh sooo much!

This is a great drama and if it's not on your list to watch I would highly recommend giving it a go!

The is the only thing I never really got/didn't like and that was how Dae Young was never recognised by his kids even when he enrolled in their school? But you will have to make your own mind up if that annoyed you as much as it did me!
