I enjoyed every aspect of this Japanese drama. Aware that it is based on the true events of the real Aya who suffered from the disease, it gave so much more meaning to the story. I particularly found the family moments heart clenching and very tear-jerking. Even though this drama is about 11 years old, even 50 years from now, this drama will still be unforgettable and memorable for its amazing story, acting and music.

The story was well paced and meaningful. It followed a series of events with every episode becoming sadder and sadder. The saddest scene for me was with one of the family 'arguments' and the sister was saying how amazing Aya was. It made me cry so much. Everything made sense in the episodes. I found the short extracts from the real Aya's diaries submitted at the end of each episode a smart move. It added to the reality behind the drama. At the end of each episode, I would read what the phrase was for the episode this time, and after reading it, I would feel depressed once again. By the way, Asou Haruto was such an amazing character. He was definitely my favourite character even though he never existed from the real happening.
The acting was superb! Sawajiri Erika is such an amazing actor in my opinion. All the actors did a really good job for every scene. Bonus, I really enjoyed Nishikido Ryo's presence in this drama. Not only was his acting great, he's also really good looking. Narumi Riko was so good in those moments when her character was speaking up. I admired her acting. And to think that most of these actors (SE, Nishikido R, Narumi R, etc) were teenagers at the time of filming, it just blows my mind. Their acting was out of this world and especially at their age at the time. Those serious moments... and those sad af crying scenes. They completed it perfectly.
Now, the music is another thing. IT WAS PERFECT. It went along with the story nicely. There was not one piece that I heard during any episode that I thought something other than 'this music is nice and it fits well with this scene'. It added to the effect of what was happening in the story and even the closing episode music was sad enough to hear, to get me close to tears again. I recommend hearing the music, definitely. Watching the drama along with the music will make it sadder though, for sure.
I may re-watch this drama sometime in the future but I may need some time to recover from everything that I just watched. I recommend this drama to everyone, but just be prepared for the sadness. I didn't cry as much as most people did, I believe, but there were maybe three times I did. It is the most I have cried in any drama of any kind. BTW, I do hold my tears well.
I must say R.I.P to Aya... and thank her for her wonderful diary writing, for sharing her thoughts and feelings. She must've been a wonderful young woman.

The story was alright. It was better towards the end but around the middle it seemed a little boring and dragged on (it felt so, anyways). Overall, I enjoyed the story. The story of this kdrama is definitely to watch if you're looking for something not too heavy/heart wrenching. There are plenty of cute/funny moments and they were enjoyable to watch.
The acting of this kdrama was superb and definitely what stood out the most. Lee Minho seems to never fail me with his acting. Some people think otherwise with this actor but I honestly think he is a really good actor and he did well in this kdrama. Song Yejin portrayed her character well. She was honestly a fun character to watch, in my opinion. All the characters in this kdrama were really good and the supporting roles were very important. My favourite character is Director Choi. I got quite annoyed with In Hee and Sang Joon but that's okay.
I never really paid attention to the music until the last couple of episodes. I don't know why. But I realise, the music was not bad! The chosen music fit with the concept of the kdrama really well. I feel like there was one song that was repeated too many times but it's still a good song so I didn't mind too much.

The filming of this kdrama was a little off at times, I have to admit.. (e.g in one of the earlier episodes, I'm sure I saw a microphone in the filming view or something).
Overall, this korean drama was enjoyable to watch. I was in no rush to finish it because it wasn't too intense and not really many cliff hangers. Good to watch if you're looking for something calmer and sweeter :)

Wow, so I just finished watching W. I can't believe it. What a rollercoaster!

The story is just mind blowing. Everything is set out nicely and I can identify the creativity of this kdrama as it is very unique and original. Some scenes were really confusing but I think I got the gist of it. I still love the story though. Literally nothing ruined the story. If I had one word to describe the feeling I had while watching this kdrama, it'd be exhilarating. In my opinion, I prefer the first half of the kdrama but the second half was just as good. I just enjoyed the first half a tiny bit more XD The end felt a tiny bit iffy for me but nevertheless, I overall enjoyed the build up to the last moment.

Lee Jong Suk really outdid himself in this drama. I think this is the best I've seen of his work. He looks stunning in this drama as well. Han Hyo Joo's acting was really good, and she is so naturally beautiful too. The character, Soo Bong, was entertaining to watch. Many scenes that I had a chuckle that he was in. Kim Eui Seong played his role very well too. *OTL* to the whole cast :)

I've heard the OST soundtrack and I really like it. Heartwarming is the word I'd use to describe most of the songs.

Oh and I'd definitely rewatch this kdrama. It's worth it because there's just so many little details that are incorporated into the story.

I'm so sad that it's over ;_; please watch it, but warning: watch it when you have a lot of time ahead of you because I bet 99% of you who start this now will binge watch it and finish it within 2 days. Fighting!!! <3

I usually don't enjoy historical dramas that much but this was just too good.
LJG is such an amazing actor. His acting created such a feeling inside me to rise whenever a sad scene came up (which was often) and made this whole watch absolutely unforgettable. This kdrama is definitely drama that I will never forget. IU's acting I had no problem with. Some people may disagree but I thought she played her character out nicely.
The music was definitely one of my favourite things about this drama. Every time an OST soundtrack played during an episode, it tugged at my heartstrings. Most of the OSTs I remember hearing were sad though. But they were really good songs.
I will definitely rewatch this one day. Ahhh I feel like crying because it's over! Now I'm just left with these super memorable scenes that keep replaying in my head and my fav OST of the kdrama playing in my head. What an unforgettable drama.

I don't want to make this review too long so I will just make a quick review.
A couple of fillers at the start of each episode. They were effective as it reminded me of events that happened. It also took me a couple of episodes to settle into the story properly but by the 7th/8th episode, I was definitely hooked. I''m glad that I didn't drop or put this kdrama on hold. The best episodes IMO are from episode 9 onwards.
The story was really well put together. Even though I didn't really know much about how goblins and grim reapers work in this kdrama, I got to learn some things.. The bromance between the two male leads was great! HAha definitely one of the best in kdrama, no doubt.
The acting was another outstanding aspect of this kdrama! Gong Yoo is such an amazing actor. I remember seeing my first work of his in Train to Busan. I always found him to be an amazing actor. Dong Wook was someone who could deliver a specific emotion just like that. He has such an expressive face. When he was sad, I was sad too. I was moved by his acting the most. Lead actresses KGE and YIN played their parts exceptionally well as well. This whole kdrama was just ethereal.
Finally, the music was SO BEAUTIFUL. I loved all the songs I heard. They played a great role in helping me feel the emotions as I, a viewer, should be feeling at particular scenes. If you don't want to watch this kdrama, at least give the OSTs a chance because they're absolute masterpieces.
I would definitely rewatch this again one day when I have the time. I would probably skip some parts (like the fillers) but I'd definitely be in it for the funny scenes ^_^
BTW Sung Jae did well with his role. It bought some extra fun and ease to all those intense scenes.
Overall, this kdrama is a 9.5 for me
