My Drama Taste
A period drama lover (I loooove palace romance dramas). My ratings are usually based on how emotionally invested I was in the particular story line or relationship. Interesting dialogues and military strategies also appeal to me. Over the many years of watching dramas, shallow dialogues or plots have gradually lost my interest.
In the Asian drama world, I'm not quite a fan of anything too mystical / fantasy (wuxia) or out of this world such as magical realms, time travel, etc. I guess this is mainly due to the fact that those dramas lack the (expensive) graphics which would have made the drama compelling and captivating like in Western fantasy genre series / movies. But with that said, I do make rare exceptions ~ The Untamed ;)

I do enjoy a good drama with realistic decisions made and possibilities.
Background
Started out watching Hong Kong TVB dramas on local TV when I was really young, moved on the K-dramas after the Hallyu wave hit Southeast Asia in the early 2000s. Winter Sonata, Autumn in My Heart, and Stairway to Heaven were a few of my very first K-dramas which I fell in love with.
After having my fair share of tragic love stories, I started watching Chinese historical/period dramas where I got attracted to the beautiful palace costumes, props, and architecture. Else was history.
As of now, I almost exclusively only watch period dramas with an occasional K-drama in between. My first ever China period drama was The Glamorous Imperial Concubine. (Ruby Lin & Wallace Huo ❤ - my real life OTP!)
As all these dramas were very new to me at that time (not to mention I was really young), my ratings for them are rather high due to the new exposure and nostalgic reasons. If you ever need recommendation on Chinese historical / period dramas, I would be more than glad to recommend some. :)
P/S: Currently using MDL to actively track dramas only (no movies or variety shows).
