Stop glorifying problematic behaviour as love
The male lead is problematic. Everything about him is red flags. He is not cute, loving, devoted or whatever...This show was popping up all over my feed and i got lured in by all my friends going ga ga about it. The production is gorgeous. The music is wonderful. Acting ranges from good to average.
But God the male lead is an ass. The first kiss is just urghhh... He grabs her by the jaw and literally smashes his lips with hers. What does not help is that the girl is tiny so it looks like he is almost assaulting her.
The first time they sleep together he bribes the hotel owner to say that there is only one room. In 2020 when we are speaking about consent more than ever, this does not come off as cute or naughty bit creepy.
He is possessive to the extent that he dictates how long the girl can meet her childhood friend, she can't touch him, can't laugh, maintain x amount of distance... Like wtf!... And then proceeds to sit at another table in the restaurant and watch over her. Towards the last episode the friend asks her to lunch for celebrating or something (don't remember) and she flatly refuses and says that her boyfriend will not like it.
This show sends out such a wrong message to young girls. I'm reading YouTube comments and young girls are going on about how will they ever find a boyfriend like him. I hope that they don't. This is not love. This is not an equal relationship. This is not cute.

Cute but not cringy
I'm sick and tired of the cutesy cdramas where the girl is a complete brainless ditz and the guy is a super achiever, super handsome ass who has never heard of manners or consent. But this show despite being 'cute' is alot of fun and has surprisingly alot of depth. The girl has spunk, grit and has great growth outside of the love angle. Her focus is not on getting the 'master' to love her. In fact he is the one who keeps looking for her attention so we are spared the customary fawning over the male lead. Despite the outlandish premise, the characters feel like real people.
The acting is also good. Both the leads can act well.
The actress does not go into the annoying cringy territory and pulls off comedy with ease. Also all these cold tsundre type of characters are usually played with actors with zero skills who think barking at the girl and having no facial expressions is acting. But here the actor is wonderful. He has amazing expressions and does not let the character fall into the cliche category.
In the last month I've seen atleast 10 super popular young love cdramas (lockdown) and 90% of them are just rubbish. This one is good. Really good. Not a complete 10 bec the last 3-4 episodes are useless, sappy, and badly written. But everything before that is A+

This was one of the shows that i was most eagerly looking forward to (besides broker) bec i love hu yitan..What a massive disappointment.
Who doesn't love revenge dramas?.. But this one is such a damp squib... The conflict between the leads is supposed to be delicious.. But here both of the them are so so bland... The revenge plot is lame.. There are no sharp, clever plans.. No shocking twists... The heroine is your average good natured, hard working standard lead.... I don't see any brilliant strategy from the hero either who has supposedly been plotting this revenge for a decade...
As for the acting... The actress is just average... And my love hu yitan - why why why... I think honestly he is too inexperienced for this kind of a role... He just doesn't have the gravitas for a revenge drama.. His change of expressions from a love scene to a revenge scene are just not captivating... He feels like he has blundered on the wrong drama set... This kind of drama requires alot of chemistry, alot of screen presence, which both of the actors lack.. So I'm unfortunately dropping this...
