If You're Going To Watch This, Be Prepared, And Even Better, Have Tissues With You.

The story takes a very simple approach, About two strangers met, Fell in love and living peacefully. Everything is going well in life, Career-wise you are finally living your dream, And the girl you love is with you and you are living happily. Everything is going well but for how long?
This is not a normal romantic story, They also knew that they can't be together till the end, But if there still time left they will live it to their fullest.

Now let's talk about its elements
1. Beautiful and well written storyline, there are no scenes that don't make sense, they are not dragging the story or making it fast paced, everything is at a good pace.
2. Everyone's acting is great, Especially the four leads.
The first lead Lin Yi and Li Landi gave the emotional side of the drama and did it very well, The Second lead Sun Tian Yu and Lee Xin Ran holding the funny and chaotic side of the drama which is balancing the episode, And I'm glad because I can't stay emotional for the entire 45-50 minutes of an episode.
3.I would also like to appreciate the fact that they didn't used disease for a small part that has happened to male lead, It seems that they want to give us knowledge about the disease. Even the doctor is not an actor he is a real doctor who has experience with ALS.
4.The best thing I like about this drama is its OST, And how good it is, It's just the actor's acting and music which is enough to make that scene beautiful.,..

The Drama Ended Very Well And You Can Say It Ended Beautifully....
The 2 years of wait and it didn't disappoint at all.
If you are in doubt whether you should give time to watch it or not, then definitely watch it and yes, take care of your emotions now, you will need it as the story progresses.

I have given 10 star to its rewatch value but it is not so, Because I can't resist shedding in tears every time rewatching it, And I don't want to get emotional again and again...

How April 12, 2023 is completely different now.

So, the writer of this review is a person who has a lot of free time, who has read both webnovel and webtoon, so I would like to say that despite knowing every part and twist, it has not bored me at any point. I can say that this was a very good adaptation of the webnovel.

The things I want to highlight about the drama-
1. DIRECTION AND SCRIPT WRITING:
+These two things are the main pillars of any series. As the novel has 188 chapters but the writer has covered it very well in 16 episodes.
+And the director's direction is commendable in the behind the scene, he is so clear about his vision that this scene will be like this or that...

2.CASTING:
+Starting with Kang Jiwon, Park Minyoung gave her 100% to the character, She played both sides, On one side a helpless woman and on the other side you can see a woman who can fight back till the end you can see her character growing till the end. You can say this is her comeback series.

+Now Yoo Jihyuk, if you watched 2D1N then you would know that both Na In Woo and Yoo Ji Hyuk are very different from each other, the way he maintained a plain face was quite nice. And his heavy voice adds a different charm to Yoo Ji Hyuk's character.

+Park Minhwan, till now many people knew him as Gwenchana but not anymore, now Merry Me is also in the race, Joke's aside but Lee Yi Kyung has played Minhwan very well, especially in Episode 14, In the series he played both funny and scary sides and portrayed them very well

+Jeong Sumin, you could say this series couldn't exist without her, if you hate her it means she played her role as an actor perfectly, Song Hae Yoon the way she perfectly portrayed the manipulative, ignorant, obsessive, jealous and crazy sides of Sumin through the entire drama truly deserves an award.

+Whenever Yoo Hee Yeon appeared on screen, she brought a different vibe. It felt as if Choi Gyuri was living the character.

+Baek Eun Ho, even though he got less screen time, he did not disappoint, even though the screen time was less, the chemistry between Choi Gyu Ri and Lee Gi Kwang was very good, one who talks a lot and the other who listen her, they portrayed it very well.

+Yang Joo Ran And Lee Suk Joon Both are the mature character in the drama, and done it very well. Mr. Lee nagging made his character a little different and enjoyable, or should i say Ms. Yang changed him...

+And finally, Our precious gem Kim Kyung Wook, his parts makes the shot perfect. You will get angry at this character, but as much as this character makes you angry, it also makes you laugh and sometimes even feel pity for him. But no matter what you say, he was the only person who is always there for Sumin.
=All the supporting actors did a great job but I can't highlight them too much otherwise there are chances of a lot of spoilers.

3.SOUND DESIGN AND MUSIC:
+The sound design of the drama is very good which enhances the intensity of the scene, And the 5 soundtrack makes the drama beautiful...

4.NEGATIVE POINT:
+ Sometimes it feels like everything is happening a little hurriedly.
+Several still cuts were released but later that parts cut from the drama.

In the end I would like to say that this show will keep you engaged from the beginning, Yes sometimes you might feel that why makers are diverting to new characters there is no point but everything happens for a reason, And the ending has been executed very well, which is very rare to be in the revenge drama.

JIWON AND JIHYUK BOTH LOST THEIR FIRST CHANCE BUT LIFE GAVE THEM ANOTHER CHANCE AND THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER, AND BECAME EACHOTHERS SOLID LAND.......

Despite Having Such A Good Budget, Promising Actors, And Pretty Decent Plot, This Series Remained An Average And Time Pass Series.
The Primary Genre [THRILLER] There Is No Thrill In The Series After The Second Episode, The Main Plot Suddenly Disappeared And Came Back In The Final Episode.
The Secondary Genre [MYSTERY] And I Still Didn't Find Out What Is Mysterious Here, Everyone In The School Knows Who Is There For Revenge And FL Also Knows Who Is Threatening Her With Videos.
The Third Genre [ROMANCE] Is There Any Romance They Are Just Using Eachother for Their Profit Or Casually Having Intimacy As Their Tool Of Pleasure.
The Last But Not The Least [YOUTH] It Is A Youth Drama But Everyone Here Are Acting Like An Middle Aged Person That They Are Holding Some Influence Of Their Own, And The Point Where They Want To Handle Situations With Maturity They Are Acting Like 8 Graders, Like You Hit Me I Hit You Too...

And The Character Who Has Most Of The Screentime Kang ha, He Took Admission In Jooshin To Fight Against The Bullies And After Sometime For The Inequality Of Jooshin System, But The Bullies Are Still in The School And The System Is Still The Same The Scholarship Students Still Can't Do Anything...

SOME POSTIVES POINTS OF HIERARCHY.
1. The Production Quality Is Just Amazing. Set Designing Is Good And Quality Looks Very Premium As They Mentioned Jooshin High School As The Prestigious School In Korea.
2. All Actor Are Good And Did Their Job Pretty Well, But The Two Male Leads Lee Chae Min And Kim Jae Won Carried The Whole Show.
3. The Best And The Coolest Thing Of The Series Is Its Camera Work And Sound Design. DOP And The Sound Director Did An Fabulous Job..

Overall It Is An Average Series But If The Post Credit Scene Indicating The Chances Of Part 2.
And, Is The Student Died In Class Is Killed By Kang Ha? Is He Out For Blood And Revenge?
If That's The Case Then Its Pretty Decent Prequel.

Satisfying Ending, But Sad At The Same Time (SPOILER FREE)

I am always skeptical about giving a drama 10 star, but this one deserve it. Is it a cinematic masterpiece? What is so different about this show?

NARRATIVE is the key point which makes this show different from other historical kdrama's. There are two types of narrative in a show first goal oriented or second is journey oriented, But this drama delivers both goal and journey oriented narrative. The length of this show is one of the plus point why its so good, as the story didn't compromise in its world building and character development.

SHIFT, usually show only builds one aspect at a time, but in Mr. Sunshine, in a single real time scene they will shift to multiple aspect and develop the story simultaneously. (for ex. leads interaction with supporting cast)

Why Mr. Sunshine is UNIQUE, Once Quentin Tarantino said "Telling a story, we don't tell a story we tell a situation. A story is something which constantly unfolds", And this is the one reason why this show stand out so much. The show HOLDS INFORMATION till the end.

Now the TECHNIQUES this show has. In various episode they have some long sequence which can sometime bore the viewer, and feels like the story is stopped progressing but there are various techniques the makers used...
THE FIRST and major reason are the characters themselves, for ex. in the show Gu Dong Mae has the majority of long sequence (Here if you know Alfred Hitchcock, he is the one who is capable to make long film sequence without audience getting bore, and long sequence means more than 20 minutes.
He has a popular theory named bomb under the table, "Blows the people to smithereens, What do the audience have 10 seconds of shock"). So in Mr. Sunshine if you already know there is a bomb under the table then the long sequence will not make you bore. Here Gu Dong Mae is the bomb and you know how dangerous he is we know what he can do, so that long sequence will not be boring anymore, and you will subconsciously thinking about what gonna happen next.
SECOND is RHYTHM, this is the most important in dialogues, a dialogues needs to have a proper rhythm. Then there is a musicality in the scene, with a bit of rhyme that happens between of the words and some of the phrases. The way they created some of the good ost's and sound designs, and more importantly they fit the sound and ost in the scene, that is what worth discussing. This ost and sounds help the sequence to not feel bored.
THIRD is MUSICAL MOTIF, it is important that show have some sounds that represent some characters or a situation. To make scene more engaging they used many REACTIONS of supporting cast which is like cherry on top.
FOURTH is its CINEMATOGRAPHY, every viewer who watched the show will agree that this show has some of the best camerawork's DOP literally did his 100% to make a scene look good, and the art design over that makes an extra layer which makes it more good.
These are some techniques why the show is so good.
Now in the end, The ACTING
The cast of the show these actors did such a wonderful work not just the main character but the supporting characters too...
FIRSTLY the MAIN CAST: Lee Byung-hun (Eugene Choi), Kim Tae Ri (Go Ae Shin), Yoo Yeon Seok (Gu Dong Mae), Byun Yo Han (Kim Hee Sung), Kim Min Jung (Kudo Hina). Everyone literally nailed in their respective roles, and I can't think, that they can get the better cast that this. The chemistry they got with each other is praiseworthy.
SECONDLY the SUPPORTING CAST: When they are interacting with the main leads they all did so good that i can tell yes they are very good actors , Their REACTIONS are the most important for the story as it made a huge impact in main leads scene, as if there are no reactions it'll not be good cinematically.
Is Mr. Sunshine is a cinematic masterpiece?
For me Yes, it is a cinematic masterpiece, as it has all the elements a good show needs. It has some heartbreaks but that is best ending for every character....
