I was looking for Nomaguchi Toru dramas to binge and I stumbled upon this and boy am I happy I did that! It's a flawless masterpiece for me.

Recurring theme is the how minority nationals live inspite of the prejudice, abuse and xenophobic comments they receive. The Central Theme is how Sawaki is in a bad place in life and is rescued, in a sort of way by the Nepalese and the volunteers, Jinbo Yuichi and Shinozaki Yui.

The cast did well, remedying their characters' life's struggles with immersion in a mesmerizing portrayal of Nepal's culture and values.

The background melody soothes the soul, in the instances it is played. Plus, The festival music of the Nepalese hits closer to home (mine-India).

Overall, If you are okay with unfamiliar cast and foreign people in a drama, this story will appeal to you. The themes blend in rather well and give us a well-refined episode. The one-shot format worked perfectly; if it were in serial format, the story couldn't have shown promise. I, especially, suggest this to people where, as the title suggests, masalas and other spices play a major role in your cooking. You can then, better relate with the Nepalese in Japan portrayed here, a bit more.
