I am a middle aged, female, American English Professor who's also  an avid fan of Asian Cinema.   I seem to gravitate to the Japanese, who have a way of ripping off the layers to give a piercing -- if occasionally unpleasant -- view of humanity. At the same time, the Japanese can  be wildly weird and deliciously funny, as in my favorite Japanese movie, "Teiichi's Country."  I go to the Koreans when I'm in the mood for lighter fare. Because, damn, nobody but the Koreans can make even a gangster movie touching. I enjoy coming to MDL for a particular film/show to critique and discuss it with other viewers. Or sometimes to simply  gush about it with mutual lovers. And even, at  times, to vent about it with mutual haters.  Whatever the case, it's always fun!
