Watching Chinese romance dramas is my and my husband's #1 favorite hobby! I never in my wildest imagination thought that we could possibly like anything more than American movies.

We only started watching Cdramas in 2020. But, we've already watched hundreds of them! We've rewatched a lot of them too. We favor moderns and lighter, more comedic ones. If a drama is popular on MDL, then it's very likely that we'll like it too. This is where MDL has been the most useful to us. If it weren't for MDL, I would have no idea how to find so many entertaining Cdramas to watch!

My husband only watches moderns (with rare exception), and he never fast forwards. Although I favor moderns, I have watched many historicals too. (I do fast forward sometimes.) So far, I have only watched historicals that have my favorite actresses (with rare exception). My favorite modern is Put Your Head on My Shoulder. My favorite historical is Eternal Love.

Our overall ratings are the same as our re-watch ratings, because we aren't that sophisticated. We only have a general impression of what we like! If a drama is entertaining enough for us to re-watch, then it has a re-watch rating of 7.5 to 10. Otherwise, it has no rating, so it isn't too unfair to the drama or MDL's rating system.

My husband and I have been learning Chinese very, very, very slowly, as an on-and-off side hobby. It's hard! As part of my learning process, I plan to translate subtitles. (Also, did you know? Subtitles tend to be concise or creatively translated. I'd like to know what is actually being said!)
