Mia 2018 is the remake of the almost decade old Taiwanese drama The Fierce Wife (2010).
Same story with a modern retouch and worldview.
-husband cheats with wife cousin and in the process finds herself and her dreams.
-The Fierce Wife is more emotionally heartbreaking and high on melodrama with a lot of family drama and introspection by the characters.
- Mia tones it down and changes a few of the FL's attributes.

-both are feminist type dramas that try to give power back to women after years of abuse and financial control by their partners and family.
-both dramas share the similarities of married women who defy societal expectations and divorce their abusive husbands.
-both husbands are serial cheaters who physically abuse the FLs.
-both husbands have bad,enabling mothers who help abuse and torture the FLs.
- both FLs fall in love with a younger man but in Barb Ruk the age-gap is wider while in Tie Me Knot its a few years.
-The major differences is that in BarbRuk the FL is rich and it is the ML who faces financial difficulties while in Tie Me Knot it is the FL who has to start over and ML is rich.
-Another difference is that Tie Me Knot focuses on the romance of the ML/FL while Barb Ruk you barely notice it.

- the cousin/relative dynamic where they have or want a relationship with their relative's husband.
-crazy psycho person that pretends to be a good relative behind the back but is the cause of all the problems.

Almost the same story with HCL being a more mature version of VFT.
-both has pregnancy out of wedlock. Though in HCL the illegitimate child is now an adult while in VFT she has a miscarriage. In VFT male led also is a single father.
- greedy son-in-laws who resort to unethical means to become the President/CEO of a company.
-second chance romance with female leads discovering they can be loved in spite of their pasts.
-VFT is more tender, sweeter and has more affection between ML/FL towards each other while in HCL the love/feelings is spoken about but little demonstration.
-I enjoyed VFC more and it kept me interested most of the time.

-same theme of a group guys who are friends and in their late 30s and are exploring relationships/looking for love.
- sister in love with brother's friend.
-Japanese version is short and has less plots than the Korean Version but similar storylines.

-the abusive,dysfunctional family dynamics are very similar with both brothers believing their parents loves the other brother more.
-both brothers go to prison and eventually mend their relationship with their sibling.
-family healing from past abuse, dysfunction and becoming a family again.

-WMLB feels like a more mature version of My Sunshine. With more adult problems like children,angry exes and complicated life issues.
-similar aspects of college lovers where the FL chases the ML.
-law student in love with a girl that studies something else.
-family secrets that lead to separation of the lovers.

-realization that one is not happy in their current long-term relationships.
-finding personal identity outside of relationships/marriage.
-finding independence, assertiveness and courage to move on.
-unhinged and controlling partners who use emotional manipulation to stay in marriage/relationships.
