The plot is decent, but too draggy and repetitive stories to fill and drag out the drama.
Unshakable Faith is a crime drama from the republican period. My Reviews:
The plot is good, but it tends to drag on too much. It would have been better if it had ended in 24-30 episodes instead of 38. The main focus is on the female characters, particularly the policeman and the nurse, rather than the male lead. There is no romance between the female and male leaders in the first 21 episodes. The male lead character seems more interested in the second female lead. There is little progress regarding the water project after 21 episodes. The female information is a smart and intelligent policewoman, while the second female lead is an interesting character. The second female lead was a spy in the end. However, from episode 22 onwards, the drama becomes ridiculous due to too many unnecessary fillers added to drag out the plot, resulting in an unsatisfactory outcome.
I give it a 6.0 rating; the acting is decent but not great.
Not an exciting plot with mediocre acting from the leads, and bad acting from supporting cast.
Forever Love is a short web Cdrama about a rich young heiress, Lin Xin Tong, who is betrayed by her boyfriend, Chi Shan, and her best friend, Xia Yu Wei.Her boyfriend cheated on her with her best friend, and they are scheming together to get her inheritance to transfer to her boyfriend, Chi San, after her father's death, where she was temporarily blind by the incident.
Qin Mo Yao is a brilliant medical student who succeeds in everything he does. He is handsome, appears sharp, cold, and mysterious, and is willing to do everything to protect Lin Xin Tong and help her in the shadows.
The onscreen chemistry between Chen Fang Tong and Dai Gao Zheng is not bad. Apparently, this is their second collaboration together. They were in Maid's Revenge before, and it was also a short web drama. I didn't watch that one.
The story is nothing special for this drama, but I have watched 22 episodes since it was short. I intend to finish it. I give it a 5.0 rating.
A decent drama about life struggles and how to overcome them in a competitive city of Beijing.
"All the Way to the Sun" is a melodramatic drama about two besties who graduated from law school and entered the working world. They are both facing life struggles with love and finance and how they overcome them.I love Wang Yang; he is a seasoned actor who acts well both in Main Role and the support role. I have not seen him in a drama where his character is romantically involved with a young person. In this drama, he is in love with Li MuJia, who is almost 20 years younger than him. Their differences should not have worked because they are at different stages of their lives. Let's see how their love story progresses.
The drama also touched on human greed, where Mujia's best friend Tian Rong was so consumed with real estate investment and ignored the risks involved. She ended up in bankruptcy and had to start over, including covering the debt incurred by her father-in-law.
Mujia eventually left the law firm after her manager decided to leave and move out of the country. Mujia embarked on a landscape start-up and struggled to get investors to invest in the company. Eventually, she overcame it, and the ending shows that she and Li Guang are getting back together after a long breakup.
It is a drama about life and its curve balls and how Mujia and Tian Rong deal with the struggles and overcome them as they mature and work hard to make it in Beijing. Not bad acting, and I enjoyed it and gave it a 7.5 rating.
It is a hypnotism crime drama that is unrealistic. Too long and draggy.
"Desire Catcher" is a crime drama about the world of hypnosis, which is unrealistic in real life. The plot is about solving crime by cooperating with the true genius in the field of hypnotism, Feing Ping (played by Zheng Ye Cheng), and the lead officer, Lou Fei (played by Xin Yun Lai)
This is the second crime-related drama with Zheng Ye Cheng as a lead. I was not impressed with it. He is better in historical wuxia drama than modern drama. His acting ability in modern dramas was not as engaging and luring. I watched him in a RomCom called "Love Under the Full Moon," it was not that good either.
I would give a higher rating if the drama were cut to 12-16 episodes. Twenty-four episodes were too long and draggy, and the bad guy was reviewed, and it did not show how he learned hypnosis. He was self-fish and a bad person and had people stupidly follow him. It took the police too long and too dumb to find him. The ending is so stupid. I am giving it a 5.5 rating and being generous about it.
A RomCom where the Female Lead is a tomboy and protect the ML. Newbies to Entertainment industry
Knight of the Rose is a short 24-episode RomCom where the female lead is an assistant to the male lead and a protector for him in dangerous and physical conditions. It is my first time watching Li Huan and Qin Xiao Xuan in leading/supporting roles. The acting skills of the entire cast are not great; however, I think Qin Xiao Xuan is the best one on the whole team.
At least he shows some vulnerabilities in some scenes where it needs to be, but he is also shy and clueless in others. The male lead has potential.
The female lead is cute, but her acting skills need improvement. It is an okay drama, and I give it a 6.0 rating.
The best of Chen Fei Yu and an Amazing love story of good girl & bad guy
I previously watched Chen Fei Yu and Zhang Jing Yi in other dramas, and I have to say that I did not like the characters they acted in. Gold Panning for him and "Fall in Love" for her.In Lighter and Princess - they both did a fantastic job, and their on-screen chemistry was so good. Chen Fei Yu acted better than Zhang Jing Yi in this drama. Still, the character she performed in this drama was far more interesting and intelligent.
I like the storyline because I can relate to it since I worked as a software engineer and had come across some raw talents.
Li Xun is one of that genius who is not only smart but also arrogant and dangerous. He meets his match in Zhu Yun, who is innocent yet fearless and challenges him. Their love for each other is genuine, and they challenge each other to be a better person, which is rare to see in Cdrama.
I enjoy this drama very much, and I would give it a 9.0 rating if it were cut short to 30 episodes instead of 36. As such, it was a bit draggy, so I am giving it an 8.5 rating. Chen Fei Yu has the potential to be a great actor in his future career, and the OST is also great.
First Love is an Adorable but cheesy RomCom
First Love is the second drama I watched, where Tian Xi Wei is the lead actress. I watched her in New Life Begins with Bai Jing Ting and liked her.First love is a cheesy but cute drama about young love (college); Lu Wan Wan and Ren Chu are adorable as they try to express their attraction and love for each other over time. It was a slow reviewing process, so it was a bit draggy. The supporting cast is good as well. It would be better if it wrapped in 20 episodes instead of 24.
Overall, it is enjoyable, giving it a 6.5 rating.
I did not like this drama like all the hyped it was received
I don't know why Douban rated "A Dream of Splendor" 8.8 ratings. WTF. I have watched 30 episodes already, and it was dull, boring, stupid, and dragging, and the plot is suck.I am unsure if I will finish this drama; aside from having a good-looking cast, the cinematography and coloring of the show are good.
I don't think this drama even deserves 5.5 ratings, and I don't understand what all the raves are about, and disappointed in AvenueX assessments of this drama as well. Grrr.......
The male lead (Chen Xiao) disappears in episodes 30-32, and his on-screen chemistry with Crystal Liu is not great. I don't like the FL character. I like San Niang better.
Love Zhao Lusi, her acting was fantastic in this drama, but I did not like the script.
The Story of a Pearl Girl is a custom drama about Duan Wu, who was raised, physically abused, and grew up in a harsh Pearl Farm environment without the protection of her parents. She learned to fight, stay alive, and become a well-respected jewelry designer and entrepreneur. She ran her own business in a town full of corruption.I admired Zhao Lusi for taking on a challenging role that stretched her acting ability. Her character was mature and ambitious, wanting to better her life and the lives of the people who grew up with her in Pearl Farm. I enjoyed watching her, but the script could have been better because it did not do justice to her character and the story as a whole.
Her on-screen chemistry with Liu Yi Ning did not work well in this drama; they had a better story and characters in The Long Balad. The men in this story are useless; it is more of a women-centric tale, which they should focus more on.
It would have been better if she ended up with Zhang Jin Ran's character rather than Yan Zi Jing. ZJR is a better fit for her than YZJ. I did not like the ending either. I would rather see that she spent her time caring for and departing from YZJ since he did not survive due to poisoning. The ending was bad and felt rushed.
Synopsis: After escaping a brutal pearl farm, Duan Wu, a skilled diver, meets merchant Yan Zi Jing and noble Zhang Jin Ran. Joining Yan's caravan, she gets drawn into the glittering world of jewels while uncovering secrets about her past. Along the way, she faces betrayal and loss but stays determined to find the truth. Renamed Su Mu Zhe, she starts her own "Clear Mind" business and teams up with Zhang to right an old wrong. In the end, Su Mu Zhe thrives at the Jewel Exhibition, inspiring women to take control of their destinies.
My Reviews:
1. Good acting from ZLS.
2. The storyline could be better. It is draggy and boring, especially about the jewelry-making process and the corruption surrounding building her own store. It is too repetitive and draggy.
3. LYN and ZLS's on-screen chemistry is better in the Long Balad drama than this one.
4. ZLS is expanding and stretching her acting ability. She acted so well in playing this role where she was oppressed and mistreated by people, yet her optimism, assertiveness, and bravery helped her elevate in society as a jeweler.
5. I agree with Douban's rating of this drama. However, because of the bad script, I give it a 6.5.
Zhao Lusi was good, and everyone else was bad. A horrible and boring script
"Gen Z - Hou Lang" is a melodrama about Chinese medicine. I finished watching the drama today, and I must admit this is not a great script.Zhao Lusi acted better than everyone else in this drama. Still, her screen times were low compared to other series because it is an all-star cast, and the character building is very slow.
Her onscreen chemistry with the ML, Luo YiZhou is not great (she had the best onscreen chemistry with Yang Yang and Wu Lei, imo.) Her characters in WRTW and LLTG are much better, stronger, and more complex than Sun Tou Tou.
I didn't know that this was Luo Yi Zhou's first drama, and he did a decent job. Although he and ZLS played love interests, there was no kissing scene at all, so it was disappointing.
I love Zhao Lusi and her acting abilities; however, I do not like the GenZ script and Wu Gang's and Jiang Shan's acting. The drama is disappointing and draggy. It could be better if it were cut short by half. Wu Gang has been typed cast in the same type of role. He is an overbearing father prideful and stubborn husband who does not talk or express his feelings. Grrr…. If it were not for ZLS, I would drop this drama a long time ago. The curveball about Sun Tou Tou being Ren Xing Zheng's daughter in ep 35 was ridiculous, and it took until ep 39 to explain that she was not.
Between episode35-39 it added the Covid situation into the drama, which was unnecessary. The wife who cared for Ren Xin Xheng, because he had Covid, did not use a mask or protective gear. Even though it has a happy ending, overall, the acting was boring, and too much TCM propaganda. Bad script, so I give it a 6.0 rating.
Don't waste your time - Listening to dubbing is annoying and acting was bad by the entire cast.
The Journey of Chong Zi - is a historical fantasy drama that is not my genre. I am watching because nothing interesting has been released this month from CDrama land. The plot is so stupid and repetitive. Chong Zi was killed by her master Luo Yin Fan; why did he bother to resurrect her into another life and name it Wen Zi? Brought her back to the heavenly realm, then renamed her Chong Zi again. It was ridiculous. When he brought her back to the heavenly realm, there was no appearance in the huge age gap between them.
The onscreen chemistry between Yang Chao Yue and Jeremy Tsui was awkward and bad. What's up with the dubbing? Listening to it was annoying, and Yang Chao Yue's acting was so bad. She is a one-dimensional actress. After 22 episodes, I was hoping for something more exciting and better plot, but it was the same old thing.
I am dropping this drama and giving it a 4.0 rating. The production quality was not good either, and everyone was so white. Tencent does not know how to produce good quality production drama.
Funny Wuxia/Fantasy drama that is enjoyable, but stupid ending.
Historical costume fantasy is not my genre, so I ended up dropping most of them after watching a few episodes (i.e., the Blue Whisper, Immortal Samsara, Song of the Moon, etc., to name a few). Surprisingly, I liked "The Starry Love" until the last two episodes, which I believe was unnecessary and stupid.Ye Tan was doing so well then, stupidly, she allowed Su Zhi to take her to resurrect Dongqiu and sacrificed herself for the peace and prosperity of the four realms. So stupid; it could have ended with episode 38 when she chose to forgive her father-in-law and figure out how to bring her sister back to life, but no. I was so disappointed with the ending.
Her father ended up losing both of his precious daughters; I was going to give it an 8.5 rating, but instead, I downgraded it to 7.5 because of the stupid ending. Overall, I enjoy it.
A disappointed Season 2 not as engaging as Season 1. Great acting by Yang Zi and Zhang Wan Yi
Lost You Forever Season 2 is a historical fantasy costume drama that continues from Season 1. Season 2 wasn't great, although Yang Zi, Zhang Wan Yi, and Tian Jian Ci's acting were excellent. The plot felt rushed, and there were too many confusing twists. The delivery and ending were bad and predictable.Synopsis: The story continues with Xiyan Cang Xuan establishing his rule over the Kingdom of Xiyan, Tushan Jing married to Fangfeng Yi Ying, Xiao Yao engaged to Chishui Feng Long, and Xiao Yao advising Xiang Liu that, once she is married, she will no longer make poisons for him. Their interactions will continue to shape not only their intertwined fates but also the fates of great clans, the three kingdoms, and the land of Dahuang. At the end of it all, will Xiao Yao still view herself as an abandoned person? One who cannot protect herself, with no person to rely on and no place to go?
My Reviews:
1. Yang Zi's acting skills improved in this drama compared to her other dramas.
2. Season 2 felt rushed, sometimes draggy, and unengaged compared to Season 1.
3. Deng Wei's character is too weak, and his resurrection from presumed death is poorly narrated.
4. Episode 20 was freaking confusing.
5. Episodes 18 and 19 were good acting by Yang Zi and Zhang Wan Yi.
I am giving it a 6.0 rating because it was not good compared to Season 1.
I wasted my time watching this drama. Boring and predictable Republican Era genre.
A Lonely Hero's Journey, set in the republican era, delves into the tumultuous period of China's history, marked by the presence of various political parties (Japanese, the CCP, the National, etc.) While this genre may be saturated with similar narratives, this drama did not stand out with its storytelling and character development. Initially, it was interesting, but it went downhill after Gu Yi Zhong married Zhang Hai Mo (played by Cheng Du Ling; she cannot act). It got draggy and boring.Synopsis: Gu Yi Zhong, the young master of the famous Gu Family in Suzhou, graduated from the architecture department of a renowned foreign university. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Gu Yi Zhong insisted on staying in Suzhou to protect cultural relics. He actively participated in anti-Japanese activities. In a rescue operation, Gu Yi Zhong was framed by the Japanese as a traitor within the party and betrayed overnight. Unable to prove his innocence and find the real traitor, Gu Yi Zhong took the initiative to infiltrate the Japanese army and became a hidden Suzhou Secret Service Station member. His hidden task is full of dangers.
My Reviews:
1. Initially, it was interesting, but it went downhill and got boring after Gu Yi Zhong married Zheng Hai Mo.
2. Gu Yi Zhong's character is portrayed as weak and unable to protect his family and loved ones. The tragic deaths of his father, sister, and lover serve as a testament to his perceived inadequacy, a disappointing turn for those who value strong characters.
3. He ended up marrying someone he didn't love, and I was disappointed when his lover, Xiao Ruo Tong (played by Wang Yu Wen), was killed by a sniper.
4. Zhang Song Wen's acting is good, but the plot is so bad that it doesn't do justice to the drama.
I am giving it a 5.0 rating because of the bad plot and acting from a few supporting casts.
Love this drama, and the on-screen chemistry and acting are undeniably awesome with main CP
Will Love in Spring is a melodrama about two people who have known and loved each other since high school. Life curve balls separated them, and now they want to rekindle their love as they face life's difficult moments and support each other to overcome them.My Reviews:
1. I love this drama. The dynamic duo of Li Xian and Zhou Yu Tong was fantastic and awesome. Their on-screen chemistry was great, and their acting was exceptional.
2. The supporting cast is awesome, especially Liu Lin and Fang Fang, who played the mother and grandmother, respectively.
3. The story's flow is good and engaging. It shows the main CP's insecurities and how they leaned on each other for emotional and moral support.
I give it an 8.0 rating for good script and good acting.
