A Character has a Shrine for Their Love Interest
SOME SPOILERS
A character has some type of shrine for their love interest. In some instances I have expanded the definition of "shrine," but if it is some kind of dedicated area or photo collection I have included it. Please submit examples of shrines. (A common theme amongst this list is idol/fan romances). I have included some minor characters as well. Ordered by how intense the "shrine."
-
1. A Journey to Love
Chinese Drama - 2023, 40 episodes
*Master/Apprentice One Sided Romance, Not Main Couple*
Despite being unreciprocated and a historical drama, I thought this was the most intense and clearly a shrine. It's an entire secret room full of paintings he commissioned, a giant jade statue, and all of her old clothing. Also besides her grave(she faked her death), he had a memorial for her in every nearby temple possible.

2. BL Drama no Shuen ni Narimashita: Crank Up Hen
Japanese Special - 2023, 3 episodes
*Idol/Fan*
Almost an entire apartment full of merch.
-
3. Lovely Runner
Korean Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
*Idol/Fan, HS Relationship*
An entire room of merch.
-
4. My Beautiful Man: The Movie
Japanese Movie - 2023
*Idol/Fan, HS Boyfriends*
A full closet, in their shared apartment mind you, of both merch and shared mementos of their life. (Higher on the list despite it's smaller size, because he like actually prays to it.)
-
5. Kabe Sa Doujin Sakka no Neko Yashiki-kun wa Shouninyokkyou wo Kojiraseteiru
Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
*Idol/Fan, Childhood Friends*
An entire wall/shelf/closet display of merch.
-
6. KinnPorsche
Thai Drama - 2022, 14 episodes
*Idol/Fan, Tutor/Student Side Couple*
I would argue that they both have a shrine, just one is much larger. One is half a room filled with photos, merch, and a signed t-shirt display; the other is a collection of polaroids and items given to each other. Higher on the list just because both have one.
-
7. Utsukushii Kare Season 2
Japanese Drama - 2023, 4 episodes
*Idol/Fan, HS Boyfriends*
A small shrine of items and merch collected, completly uprgraded in the movie.
-
8. Midnight Museum
Thai Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
*Platonic/Protective Relationship*
A giant collection of photos artfully pinned above his desk. Like cute photos. No matter what anyone says it was less of an "investigation" board and more of a shrine.
Is it a love interest...no. Is it a shrine...yes. Does it seem like a shrine for "brother in bond"...no. Does it seem like a shrine for a love interest...yes. It's going on the list.
-
9. 2 Moons: The Series
Thai Drama - 2017, 12 episodes
*HS Crush to Lovers*
A small section of a table with a bunch of photos.
-
10. Takane no Hana-san
Japanese Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
*Office Romance*
A small area dedicated for one photo frame, but she also kept and collected small things of his.
-
11. Semantic Error
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
*Enemies to Lovers*
Less of a shrine but included for its devotion. A large folder of photos of just his bf, despite him being a computer science/coding guy that warned his bf of excessive photos on computers.
-
12. 30Sai made Doteida to Mahotsukai ni Narerurashi
Japanese Drama - 2020, 12 episodes
*Office Romance*
Less of a shrine, but a large collection of photos of bf on phone. Also main lead bought main character clothes and other things whenever thinking about him without knowing if he woud actually gift them.
