In Search of Queer Time

These shows explore the suppressed linkages between queer pasts and queer presents, against a straightforward linear progression of time or of homonormative advancement. Perhaps queerness is like the ghostly excess of our families' histories, unable to reach any resolution until after relationships are reconfigured and the silences and dirty secrets are spoken back to life and healed (He's Coming to Me, Until We Meet Again). Maybe we can find it in the collapse between past and present, the ways we find ourselves acting out things our queer ancestors could only dream of (Until We Meet Again). It's in the melancholic return to the parts of us we were forced to bury, and the commitment to a different path in honor of the selves or the loves we had to leave behind (Red Balloon, Your Name Engraved Herein). And it's in the way we have to move forward as people who should've been here with us are instead suspended in time (In Between Seasons, Dear Ex, Once Again). In any case, all we can do is to revisit the past, dig up the buried remains, and bring peace to them.
