Cat, Elle and Gigi's Drama Club
-
1. Pachinko
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
- Completed: May 2, 2022
Watched by me and & @catstreet. See, I'm too much of a book snob, I judge adaptations very heavily, and sadly Pachinko didn't live up to the book.
-
2. Fight Song
Japanese Drama - 2022, 10 episodes
- Completed: May 26, 2022
I didn't hate it, but I also can't think of anything I actually liked, it was just an okay drama with a couple that really didn't have any chemistry.
-
3. Little Women
Korean Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
- Completed: Oct 9, 2022
An absolute shit show! I was excited about the idea of a Korean adaptation of Little Women, but instead I got..... this, whatever the hell this was.
-
4. Silent
Japanese Drama - 2022, 11 episodes
- Completed: Dec 26, 2022
@catstreet's recommendation for the drama club. Ironically the only flaw I can think of is that the characters sometimes seemed to be a bit too flawless, I'd have liked for them to react to some sad situations in a more human way, get mad, yell, complain, instead of giving the other cheek to be slapped.
-
5. Yugure ni, Te wo Tsunagu
Japanese Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
- Completed: Jul 9, 2023
@catstreet's recommendation for the drama club. Elle seems to be only one who actually enjoyed this drama, I don't have any particular complaints, I just found it boring.
-
6. Hidden Love
Chinese Drama - 2023, 25 episodes
- Completed: Jul 20, 2023
@catstreet's recommendation for the drama club. A sweet drama about a sweet couple with little to no angst.
-
7. Revenant: Le Démon
Korean Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
- Completed: Jul 29, 2023
Maybe my expectations were too high, I love horror, I love Kim Tae Ri, and I love Kim Eun Hee, but this was lackluster at best.
-
8. Moving
Korean Drama - 2023, 20 episodes
- Completed: Sep 21. 2023
Watched by me & @elle7389. An absolute blast, the only complaint that I have is that I thought the ending was rushed.
-
9. Iljimae
Korean Drama - 2008, 20 episodes
- Completed: Oct 15, 2023
Watched by me & @elle7389. Started this as part of my "Year of Han Hyo Joo" marathon and Elle decided to join in because of Lee Joon Gi. It felt like the drama never found its identity, it'd jump between a serious plot to poop jokes without any sort of transition, beyond that Hyo Joo's character and her interest in social activism felt wasted, with her being more like a supporting character than a main lead, and for such a long drama, somehow by the end everything felt rushed and incomplete.
-
10. My Dearest
Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
- Completed: Nov 1, 2023
@catstreet's recommendation for the drama club. The club's new obsession!
-
11. Morning Comes to the Mental Ward
Korean Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
- Completed: Nov 14, 2023
One of the best representations of mental illness I've ever seen, almost poetic in a way. My only complaint is that I wish we could've seen more of the lead couple, so I hope Park Bo Young and Yeon Woo Jin work together again.
-
12. Twinkling Watermelon
Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes
- Completed: Nov 14, 2023
@catstreet's recommendation for the drama club, watched by me & her. Overall a good story, but I'm disappointed with the little screentime Cheong Ah got, because everything about her felt underdeveloped for me, from her love story with Yi Chan, to her father's redemption arc.
-
13. My Dearest Part 2
Korean Drama - 2023, 11 episodes
- Completed: Nov 19, 2023
A solid start meets an average ending. I think the problem with part 2 was mainly the unnecessary shenanigans and clichés that the writer created to separate the lead couple. I'd have prefered for the focus to be more on the political turmoil, instead of dragging the will they/won't they survive the war for melodrama sake.
-
14. Perfect Marriage Revenge
Korean Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
- Completed: Dec 16, 2023
@catstreet's recommendation for the drama club. Ironically she never finished, but I did. If you like telenovelas, you're gonna like this drama, because that's what it was, from the over-the-top scenes to the cartoonish villains.
-
15. Retour à Samdal-ri
Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes
- Completed: Jan 21, 2024
Sadly a very rushed ending, particuarly the resolution with Yong Pil's father, his sudden change from pure anger and hatred to acceptance was so nonsensical it was kind of comical. I'd say the drama had it together up until episode 13, after that none of the things that happened truly worked for me, the plots were closed very quickly, and the moments between the couple were few and far apart.
-
16. Say You Love Me
Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes
- Completed: Feb. 7, 2024
Watched by me & @elle7389. Yet another drama with a good start and a poor second half. Watching this and the original Japanese drama simultaneously was very interesting, one thing I couldn't help but notice is that the ex-girlfriend plot didn't land in this remake as much as it did in the original.
Mind you, I don't like the plot in general, but in the Japanese drama we had a pretty immature FL, and that was both her charm and her downfall, so once the ex-girlfriend came into the picture, her jealousy made sense, but the Korean FL always seemed to be very mature and level headed, and she had great communication with the ML, so her reaction didn't fit the plot as much as the reaction of the Japanese FL.
Overall I think I liked the Japanese drama more, despite it being pretty outdated, but I liked the couple of the remake more, which isn't surprising, because unlike the Japanese couple, the Korean couple actually made sense together.

17. Eye Love You
Japanese Drama - 2024, 10 episodes
- Completed: Apr. 14, 2024
A lovely surprise, we need Japan and South Korea to band together and give us more romcoms.
-
18. Lovely Runner
Korean Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
- Completed: May 28, 2024
(Wrote a review)
-
19. Pachinko Season 2
Korean Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
- Completed: Oct. 13, 2024
Watched by me & @catstreet. Since season 1 the changes made from the book already annoyed me greatly, but this absolute filler season took the cake. This is my goodbye, if this show gets a season 3 I won't be watching, rather stick with my book.
-
20. Jeong Nyeon
Korean Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
Pretty good, but how great it'd have been if it was explicitly gay.
