The Master's Sun Episode 5
We start the episode where we finished off last time--Gong Shil being rescued in the form of a hug by her ghost force field (Aka Joong Won). He takes her hand and leads her away from the huge car accident. After they've traveled a far enough distance, Sassy Joong Won appears, demanding why why she keeps grabbing his hand if the ghosts are gone.
He complains that he’s not a snack that she can paw at whenever (yeah, well, we’ll see) and reminds her that he only values her when she uses her ghost radar honestly--to warn her not to lie to him again.
He informs her that he’s giving her a full time salaried position to use her sixth sense, and she’s ecstatic. However, Joong Won, if full jerk mode makes the stipulation that he’ll dock her pay every time she touches him—so she should only do so when she’s so scared she feels like she’s going to die. (whatever you say, lolololol) He also informs her that his completely voluntary gallant show of saving her, just cost Gong Shil her first paycheck.
She complains, and he sasses, but it’s so adorable. Seriously, Gong Shil is too cute.
He declares himself her most prized possession, and although she asserts that she’s important to him too, he denies it. He’s not ready to admit it to himself yet.
Later, back at his place Joong Won can’t stop looking at his hand and mulling over his self initiated manhandling. He ultimately decides he priced himself too low—less than a bottle of champagne.
Sassy even while alone
Then we switch to Gong Shil being a total teenaged girl--squee-ing over her Joong Won interaction, but also reminding herself to calm down and not mess up the best thing she has going for her--a sanctuary.
Awwwwwwww This was totally me watching this entire episode, hugging a pillow that is.
We switch scenes to a gorgeous mansion where a woman carrying a box and a young girl enter a room occupied by a grandmother and her grandson. The woman is a matchmaker and the girl is the wife she has found for the grandson.
Also, both young people are dead.
The dolls contained within the box would be used to preform the ceremony, but the ghost son refuses. The matchmaker shaman just sighs, and promises to keep looking for a bride grandson ghost will like.
Woah lady, why are you creepier than the recalcitrant ghost boy.
As Gong Shil excitedly gets ready for her first day, we meet up with Kang Woo bribing the cutie kids with milk. They warn him that Gong Shil has scary things (aka ghosts) following her to work. They ask him to take care of her since he likes her.
Kang Woo leaves and conveniently runs into Gong Shil scolding coffee ghost to leave her alone. Kang Woo thinks it’s a real person bothering her and gallantly “chases” after to catch him.
When he questions who’s chasing her, she reveals that she can see ghosts. He turns and faints at the sight of coffee ghost.
Cut scene to Joong Won in his car, where he happens to see Kang Woo and Gong Shil getting very chummy together. Jealous Joong Won is an adorable Joong Won.
Joong Won gets to the office, surprised that Gong Shil has beat him there. He has secretary Kim show her to her new office: a storage place used for VIP costumers. Secretary Kim reports back to Joong Won, and informs him that Gong Shil seemed a little disappointed in her new office.
We cut back to Gong Shil in her office where a ghost enters. She laments, “of course my first customer is a ghost” (sidenote—it’s coffee ghost again). The door slams and the middle characters fall off the door—maybe that has some meaning? I don’t know Korean yet, sorry!
The Chinese matchmaker shows up at Kingdom and Joong Won’s aunt sees her, and seems familiar with her shaman job. The matchmaker comes across Gong Shil while she’s mid-conversation with coffee ghost. She follows her and ominously says “Someone who recklessly dips her feet into death. She’ll do.”
Joong Won is chatting with his uncle about the grandmother we met previously: President Wang. Afterwards, he meets with Gong Shil who claims to have her first assignment—to drop off a gift at President Wang’s mansion. He informs her of the tragic death of the president’s grandson, and although she’s scared, he offers her free hugs if she can successfully pump some information/future plans out of the family.
What the heck Crazy Eyes. Calm yourself, girl.
Gong Shil and her crazy eyes accept. As she arrives at the Wang mansion, the matchmaker asks her to change into a red dress. Back at Kingdom, Joong Won is talking with his aunt, asking her not to send Gong Shil on meaningless errands. She states that the matchmaker (Madame Go) specifically requested her.
Joong Won, your caring is showing. Worried Joong Won is almost as cute as jealous Joong Won.
Joong Won becomes a little worried (awwww) and calls Gong Shil to check up on her.She states that she’s seen the grandson ghost and they told her put a dress on. He immediately becomes concerned and orders her to remove it, but she ignores him and hangs up, wanting to finish the job that’s important to him
You care so much and you hate yourself for it don't you. :P
Gong Shil follows the grandson ghost down a corridor into his old bedroom where she is locked in by the matchmaker.
Look at how pretty this set is, ughhhhh. And the contrast with the red dress! So pretty.
So apparently grandson ghost is upset because he died a virgin? Am I the only one whose mind went there? Lol
Joong Won arrives on scene demanding
He demands the maid open the door, only to be stopped by President Wang. She gives the ultimatum: He can open the door, and she’ll sign a contract with his competitor, or he can leave it be and she’ll sign with Kingdom.
He hesitates, but the door is already unlocked. Gong Shil comes barging out to which he immediately shoves her back in.
haha. What a jerk. He tries to save face, insisting he never opened the door, Gong Shil did. Gong Shil again, emerges from the room.
She tells the President that her grandson left a message, as she delivers said message, she does this weird hip/hand gesture, the same one the grandson used.
Gong Shil, eternally cute and Joong Won, eternally judging you.
Cut scene to Joong Won’s Aunt. She’s planning on using Yi Ryeong to distract Joong Won from Gong Shil
We cut to Yi Ryeong shooting a hilarious CF, since the“newlywed” concept had to be changed last minute. The aunt implies that Gong Shil may have had a hand in breaking up Yi Ryeong and Hae Seong, as Gong Shil visited him just before the wedding.
We go back to the Wang mansion. The president claims she can’t let go of her son because his bouquet of green roses hasn’t wilted yet, regardless of how long they’ve been there.
"Judging you hardcore, flowers. You all suck."
Gong Shil claims it’s because the grandson is waiting for someone...his first love? Joong Won immediately offers up Gong Shil’s services to help President Wang find her find that person. Gong Shil notices his ghost looking out the window and gets up to see him watching the milk boy. As Joong Won and Gong Shil leave, she reveals to him that the grandson was in love with the milk BOY.
Joong Won decides to go with it (after a little guilting from Gong Shil), but stress their friendship, not that they liked each other.
Cut scene to Yi Ryeong waiting outside Gong Shil’s apartment. Kang Woo sneaks up and slams her against the wall, assuming her to be the stalker.
They begin
Cut again to Joong Won and Gong Shil at the milk delivery packaging place, where they inquire about who used to deliver to the Wang Family. To my (and some of your) disappointment, it turns out the delivery boy was just a delivery tomboy. UGH.
To convince the milk girl to visit the mansion, Gong Shil mentions the green roses. We flash back to before the last time milk girl saw the grandson. Ugh open eyed kisses. :P
The green roses something she really liked, but he said were ugly, like her. After insults on both parts she ran away and he later died.
Milk girl arrives at the mansion. As she runs her finger over the flowers, the grandson ghost kisses her and the flowers turn into dust and disappear.
Joong Won is so pleased that President Wang will invest, that heoffers to give Gong Shil a ride home. However, she declines, not wanting to be caught by Kang Woo.
You are so upset Joong Won ♥
Her reply irks him terribly (jealous Joong Won is so cute) and his pettiness shows, demanding she get out now. Before she leaves she grabs his hand and rubs it on her face.On her way home, Gong Shil is being followed by two men. Just as they grab her, Kang Woo swoops in to save the day!
Stop making me swoon for you, you player.
Suddenly the matchmaker steps in and tells her that because she shines brightly, ghosts seek her out, but she should always be on her guard—some of them will use her to try and come back. (as this is being said, we cut scene to Joong Won looking at his hand again, and Hee Joo lurking in the background)We cut again to the two cuties on the playground. Seriously, where is their mom? Have you seen their clothes? The youngest drops his ball and runs off to retrieve it. The older brother follows to find him staring at possibly the creepiest doll ever.
The older brother wisely tells him not to touch it. As they leave we see the doll surrounded by ghost children, younger brother waves back at them, and THE FREAKING DOLL’S EYES CHANGE COLOR AND GLOW AND IT WAS THE CREEPIEST THING ABOUT THIS EPISODE. Literally, I would have just “nope'd” all the way home and cried.
Kang Woo walks Gong Shil home. He complains that she never answers his questions and she replies that she doesn’t want to scare away the one person that really likes her. He reveals that he’s not the only one with secrets, and leaves claiming that he doesn’t want to disappoint her either.
Why are you so adorable? Stahp.
The next day, Joong Won gloats that President Wang invested in Kingdom, while Gong Shil informs him that President Wang even offered to take her to China. He questions if that’s why she seems so glum, but she assures him there’s another reason.
You care and you're worried and jealous. Heeheehee. It's okay, she's clueless so far.
We cut to Kang Woo adorably receiving a lollipop.
Then back to the leads. He reassures her that Kang Woo won’tthink she’s weird, instead he’ll just think she’s arrogant. (lol, she’s not you). She asks him if he’ll take her home tonight, but he immediately rejects the idea, warning her not to get greedy.
We cut again to the gossiper (Lee Han Joo) doing exactly what the uncle wanting, spreading a rumor about Gong Shil and Joong Won. The cleaning ahjumma’s have a field day, putting together stories of love triangles since they know she lives in the same place as Kang Woo.
He comes back to dish the new dirt about Gong Shil to Kang Woo (lol). As he’s badmouthing the idiot who let himself get seduced buy Tae Gong Shil’s dark circles, Kang Woo interrupts saying “it’s me.” And state’s they should restrict his power from now on.
Insert foot into mouth.
Kang Woo takes his lollipop leaves to find Gong Shil.
We cut to Joong Won telling secretary Kim that they will betaking Gong Shil home tonight.
Cut back to Kang Woo giving Gong Shil the lollipop and stating that he wants to get to know her better. He'll have courage so she should be strong. (swoon)
As this is happening Joong Won is watching from above, and races down to meet her.
He chases her from inside the glass until he finally meets her face to face in the doorway.
This scene was just so beautifully done. Anxiety was pouring out of me, just A+ cinematography.
She gushes about the guy she liked partially confessing to her. He asks if she’s going to accept him, and she states that she will. (look at his sad face)
This was probably my favorite episode ever. I especially liked the set designs and cinematography. :D What did you all think? Was it great or was I just too distracted by the pretty?
