While "I Just Didn't Do It" is about an innocent man spending time in jail, "Half" is about someone who accidentally killed a man while trying to protect their friend. In both films, the male leads have the same timid demeanour, and are both served a cold plate of injustice. "Half" is much more graphic and violent. The atmosphere of injustice is equally prevalent in both films.

Similar critique & representation of the Japanese criminal legal system, and how it has caused gross injustice to many who didn't actually do the crime but were charged for it.

Both explore the challenges faced by men who are accused of having inappropriate contact with a school-age female. "I Just Didn't Do It" concentrates on the legal process, whereas "Taisetsu na Koto" focuses on the social ramifications.
