Jade Cheng as the female lead, I'll give it a try..... but honestly this drama is disappointing..... To me the story is kinda awkward and boring. Female lead is a 鏢師. Which is basically a person that helps guard/watch/deliver goods and people to a destination.... but the fact is that she doesn't have good kung fu doesnt make any sense. The male lead has better kung fu than her.... like how are you suppose to protect people's property. Also the female lead was suppose to be a maid to the Bai family to repay a favor( because the Bai's wife helped the female lead's when she was in need. The female lead is to protect the Bai's daughter and get her to successfully marry the Yang family second son.
The male lead is the Yang family second son. His parents died trying to establish a new road of trade. He wants to continue that and open a new road for the trades to go through This is what the drama is about and on their way they try to find people to support them but a lot of people dont want the new road and try to kill them on the way....
The romance between the leads is pretty cute.The male lead falls in love with the female lead from the early episodes, but the female leas is hesitant because the male lead is the suppose fiancee of the Bai's daughter. But the leads go through near death and slowly fall in love with each other. They have a decent chemistry. They have a lot more kissing scenes after episode 15.

This is a nice drama to watch while waiting for a great one. The story is simple but some of the characters were extremely frustrating and the antagonist got to exterminate so many people that the storyline became sickly twisted. The worst characters were Bai Yin Ruo which became really cruel and selfish that it got tiring; also Yang Zhuo, Yang Xiao’s cousin that would do anything for Yin Ruo even when he knew that she was wrong. The leading couple did well together and was consistent with their feelings for each other, even when Yue Zi Yuan tried to not correspond to Yang Xiao’s feelings; she was still loving and protecting him. There are inconsistencies on the drama and the end, even though it was a good ending, could have been more romantic and less comical, taking in consideration that the drama, although it was a romantic comedy, put the leading couple through a lot of physical and emotional pain. Compatible OTPs
When it comes to the leads of any dramas, I am only invested in leads with comparable visuals. And this show Maid Escort delivers on everything including nice soundtrack. I thought it might be another fluffy or silly comedy but it turns out to be entertaining all the way. Both leads have great chemistry. Jade Cheng is pretty and likable. Wang Run Ze seemed promising in Eternal Love Rain and in this show, he gave a different vibe. For romance department, I prefer a little bit of angst and slow burn process than something unbelievably corny. My favorite OTPs are Luo Yun Xi and Yukee Chen Yu Qi in The Winner is Love, Dilraba and Leo Wu in The Long Ballad, Bai Lu and Xu Kai in The Legend, OTPs in Princess Silver (though I would prefer them to get together much later).
