An adaptation from a romance novel done right and then some...
Firstly let me clarify - this is NOT an E-sports drama. This is a love story between two adults working in two very different fields who happen to come together because of a shared hobby, in this case a game. So if you are here because of GGS, Love O2o, GYH, King's Avatar, Love Scenery or FIYS and are expecting a lot of gaming you will be sorely disappointed.
On the other hand, if you are looking for adult protagonists with mature issues like finances, career, family and lastly - the search for that ever elusive life partner, then this drama is for you!
This is a slow burn that explores more about the ML than our FL. Being an engineer myself as well as in the same age group as our protagonists I found this drama to be pretty realistic and equally brilliant!
All the fans of Josei - this drama is perfect for you!
Story:
The romance starts slow but progresses naturally. I am happy with the pace though some might find it slow but it's the slowness that makes you stop and appreciate the stories of the supporting characters as well as the beautiful cinematography.
The story definitely focuses more on Yu Tu's life than on Jing Jing's. I liked that as I am not an actress and I wouldn't be able relate to her life. While Yu Tu is a normal fellow and I wasn't expecting to be so invested in his character.
The existential crisis that he is going through resonated so well with me - personally as well as through seeing mutual friends. There are many high achievers that have felt a career slump or questioned their life choices after reaching their 30s and this drama is showing the perspectives of different people so well. I could even relate with the conversations that were being held between YT and his colleagues or friends.
QJJ, our FL is mature, successful and not clingy. She is the emotional support to YT's internal inferno. Their love is quiet and takes you on a journey.
The supporting cast is also great. The FL's manager is sensible and not an EXTRA-character who restricts the FL from dating, etc. And though the ML is a typical smart, taciturn and handsome fellow he is suffering from typical career issues which are highly atypical in C-Dramaland.
FYI - There has been a dearth of slow motion scenes where the FL/ML just stare at each other vacantly or the ML touches the FL and the camera pans around them for 1 minute showing them from ten different angles. You can watch this drama just for this reason alone!!
Acting:
While the awkwardness of their (YT + QJJ) first encounter was a bit uncomfortable to digest, their subsequent encounters really grew on me and I felt their relationship was more realistic than other dramas that I have watched.
Both the leads did a great job of representing the emotions of adults that are meeting their school classmate after a long time. I am not a fan of childish/dumb/cutesy FLs and I specially liked the way the QJJ is handling her long forgotten crush like an adult as opposed to in an OTT/immature way.
Yu Tu was wooden in the initial episodes but becomes really expressive after he officially gets together with QJJ. If you've read the novel you would know that his character is the typical taciturn fellow though I would have preferred the screenwriter change the characterisation a bit to show us the anguish he is feeling regarding his life choices initially.
I also liked the acting by all of the supporting characters. Shout out to YT's Ex - she was someone you can really understand and probably know such a person in real life as well.
Overall:
I am in love with this drama. This is one of my favourite C-Dramas of all time. I just really appreciated the mature romance and it helped that all of the characters were believable. Kudos to the scriptwriter and director for seamlessly incorporating the epilogues from the novel and adding extra scenes as well as some memorable dialogue to make this a cohesive story!
The desert scenes were a special favourite of mine!! Some beautiful shots are captured in this drama!
What a wonderful drama!! A 10/10 for me. Definitely going to have withdrawal from this.

Well-deserved All the Hypes!
Definitely one of the best modern Chinese dramas! The visuals and chemistry that you couldn't resist!!!To be honest, this drama is a little similar to the other gaming romance series like Love O2O and Go Go Squid, although it didn't touch base too much on the gaming details like the others, more on the main leads interaction outside of the game. However, I would say I loved this couple the most!! The drama has pretty hilarious and quirky lines, main couple exploding chemistry, not to say their visuals that are totally eye-pleasing, it's pure fantasy. Not to say Yang Yang extremely alluring deep voice and charming smile, Dilraba is really gorgeous too! Both of them really fit the roles and portrays a really cute couple in the show! Sweet but not cringe! :)
The first half of the show involves more on gaming as the two main leads get connected again with each other through a game (although they were high school mates). After watching this, I was so curious about the game so I went to download a PUBG game and try playing, that's how I finally understand what they were talking about in the show. However, if you do not want to do so it's totally fine to watch it without knowing as well, doesn't really affect much, you just need to know that this game requires a lot of strategy and because the male lead is smart so he picked up the game real fast and was really good at it.
In case you want to know about the game, here's an extremely simple summary of it:
1. Basically in one game, there are two teams (5 member each) and you will need to pick one hero to battle.
2. The game has 100+ heroes and each hero has their own unique spells and abilities. Like if you choose a fighter hero, you can make more damage to the enemy but you need to get near to enemy to kill, if you choose a mage hero, you can cause damage from a distance, have lower HP but your power can kill enemy easily etc., so you will need to use your strengths to support the team. Some heroes are difficult to play, because their spells have a lot of grey area, but it is very powerful if you know how to maximize it, but new player won't know that.
3. You will need to destroy the base of the enemy (at the same time defending yours) in order to win, in the process of it, you will need to kill your enemy to accumulate more "kills" and try avoiding being killed because when you are killed you need to wait for a certain time to resurrect and enemy can destroy your base during this time. MVP are usually those who got the most contribution in overall (evaluated based on the no. of being killed, kills + assist, caused the most damage etc.)
4. In this drama they always mentioned about "五連絕世" (Pentakill), it actually means killing 5 enemies in one go (without dying). Usually that happens when enemies team up to gank you, but instead they all got killed by one player.
5. There are 3 lanes to head to enemy base, some can get the fastest to the base, some you can kill creeps to earn more gold etc. so it actually requires a lot of team work and strategy in it to win. Like if you are bad, you usually don't go alone on a lane because your enemy can ambush and you will be killed easily.
6. The key point to be good in the game will be experience, knowledge and strategy. Because If you know all the heroes' power, you can predict their next step and plan your next move to kill them. You need to think fast, move fast and react fast, that's why this game is actually quite hard.
*I didn't play the actual Honor of Kings so not sure if it is exactly the same, but I supposed the basics are there! There are much more details but it's not so important for the drama, so all these should be sufficient for you to understand!
The second half of the drama talks more about their romance and the male lead's aerospace dream. This is where you can see how the couple is being so adorable when they were with each other! Be aware of diabetes with all their flirting and kissing scenes! Just so natural, never a second to think they are acting! I love it especially when they were teasing each other or even embarrass each other in front of their parents or colleagues. I come to realise that this drama doesn't have a second couple (unlike the typical C-drama) but the whole series wasn't dull at all, maybe that's why it was even better! Because if you enjoy them, you get to enjoy them in full, without any “interruption". Although their "ex-s" appeared here and there, I thought they are gonna be those annoying second leads to try breaking the couple up, turned out that they don't really have much scene haha! I would say their relationship was a pretty "strong" one, even though they are a LDR, having different financial status, lifestyle and being in different work industry, they learn to understand each other, overcome all of it without family conflicts and unnecessary misunderstanding. Although it's really lovely to watch, I would say it is actually pretty unrealistic in real life though haha! Well, but we look for fantasy in dramas, that's why we watch it right?
This drama definitely lives up to my expectation and worth being hyped up for! :) I personally didn't give it a 10/10 mainly because I was looking for more climax in the drama, however I don't deny that I really enjoyed watching the entire series even though they don't have it. Highly recommended for the year and is definitely a Rewatch-worthy drama! :)

I have never been this crazy over a C-drama!
I first saw this drama's trailer around a few weeks before the premiere. I already heard about Yang Yang and Dilraba pairing quite long time ago, but as I didn't like Dilraba (because of her acting in Ten Miles of Peach Blossom), I wasn't really paying attention on You Are My Glory. Then, I saw the first trailer and was completely blown away by their chemistry and not so common dialogues unlike any other modern Cdramas. OMG not only they are so gorgeous, they can act so good! I already knew Yang Yang back then when he starred as Ye Hua in the movie version of Ten Miles of Peach Blossom.
First of all, I will review a bit about the story. I have never seen Love 020 or any other Gu Man's works, but this kind of story really touches my deepest heart as Yu Tu's struggles on his life and career path and Jing Jing's genuine love and support for Yu Tu are the things that make this drama so different from any other dramas. Yu Tu's profession is also one of a kind. As what the drama describes his job as "one of the most romantic profession" is definitely true. The depiction how he changes from a kinda stoic and always composed, never did something impulsive to a person who can give cheeky banters with Jing Jing and often smiles like his life finally lit up because of Jing Jing. This kind of change is not somewhat dramatic, but the progress is very subtle but you can see his progress in every episode. I really like how Gu Man tells her story. I already read the novel and I liked it. Her way of telling story is beautiful.
The romantic scenes will surely satisfy your thirst for sweet but not cheesy scenes. They are just like normal couple out there but with really mature mindset, therefore there aren't any unnecessary misunderstandings after they got together. It's more of a dream-chasing together drama. So beautiful.
Secondly, the acting from almost all the actors and actresses are really good. I really like Yang Yang's portrayal as Yu Tu. His eyes and micro movements are very good and on point (my ultimate favorite was his expression on the last scene of Ep 16). Also, I don't think no one can replace Dilraba as Qiao Jing Jing. Her tone and expression match so well without being too much. She is naturally cute as Jing Jing. She does not try to act cute, but it just flows naturally within her.
The OST. Sorry, but I don't find the OST to be somewhat really special. However, Fireworks and Stars by Liu Yu Ning is good and match the scene very well. I like Fireworks and Stars when it is played as an instrumental music. Just simply beautiful.
Rewatch value? Of course 10! I will rewatch my favorite scenes and episodes. Just not the game things. Oh, if you are not gamers or a fan of game-themed dramas, don't worry. You can skip those parts and just focused on Yang Yang and Dilraba's interaction.
Caution, this is a slow burn romance type of drama. Not angsty type of drama, but a light-hearted drama with depth. Definitely worth to watch

Meaningful and inspiring
This drama is one of my highest rated dramas in 2021. 9.5 only because I think the music can be better. Other than that, from the storyline to the acting, it's a perfect piece.Favourite points of the drama:
1) Definitely the chemistry between Yang Yang and Dilraba. Their relationship is a representation of pure and sweet love. Simple, no drama and just pure love.
2) The story focuses on dreams and how each person has their own difficulties regardless of their career choice. Yu Tu (male lead) and Jing Jing (female lead) obviously live very different lifestyles, but they both have the similar drive to achieving their dreams. Their profession is different but their mindset is similar and I love how they both are so respectful and supportive of each other's careers.
3) Some insight into the aerospace industry. This is really the first drama I've watched that talks a certain of level of depth into aerospace. I personally am not a person who is big on science but I am a little curious now that I've watched this drama.
I could go on and on about this drama but I'll stop here. This is the one drama I feel everybody should watch especially people who are feeling a little lost and demotivated.

An Ambling Story of Glory
This show started off interesting even with the typical cliches of the leads having met in high school years before and one having a crush on the other. In the beginning I was concerned that the story would spend too much time on the ML training the FL on gaming but thankfully the show pulled back from that as the series progressed. The leads are attractive, most especially Yang Yang who is beautiful. They had nice chemistry and looked good together, but the story just wasn’t there. The gaming training provided some story as did the conflict that arose when one of the leads wanted to date while the other didn’t. Then it was just episode after episode about the everyday boring minutia of one of the leads lives. Seeing this had nothing to do with the overall story and was time wasted on nothing. This went on until the leads finally got together. Then when they got together the story was over. The series was basically about the leads happily dating without any conflict.
I can appreciate a show not going the typical route of interloping exes or people who never dated the leads but think they are more deserving of their love. I can appreciate a series showcasing a healthy and loving relationship. However, they didn’t need 32 episodes to do this. Most of the episodes was a hodgepodge of poignant moments in the mist of meandering story threads. Honestly there were no story threads. In essence this was boring.
The writers could’ve done a lot with the FL being a famous actress/singer and the ML being a Aerospace Engineer, but they squashed any story potential in the first few episodes. I will say the writers/directors and actors did a good job making the coupling of the leads believable. They actually kissed, hugged, slept together etc. they acted like adults in a romantic relationship which ironically enough is oftentimes not displayed in these romance dramas. But that was about the only thing that was really good about this series.
With the lack of conflict and story, this series could’ve wrapped in 10-12 episodes rather than 32. But more importantly this series is not worth watching.

Someone said YAMG is a drama that’s “far from drama, but close to reality”
THIS DRAMA NEEDS 10/10 RATINGS!!!Words can’t describe how much of a masterpiece this drama is! I cried so bad at the final episode, part of me felt so proud of the entire production team especially the novelist/scriptwriter. Another part of me felt like I’d be missing something big in my life after this drama ends.
“How do I move on from this drama?”
“What should I watch next?”
“Where else can I find a drama that’s as good as this?”
^ My thoughts during the finale.
I kinda regret that I decided to watch this drama late (because it’d be better if I watched it while it was ongoing, so I could suffer from waiting for new episodes LOL), but also grateful because I started watching it nonetheless.
The only disadvantages of YAMG are:
1. 32 episodes are really not enough for me. I need more! I need to witness their future as a family.
2. It’ll be so hard for me to get out of this hole YAMG has thrown me into. :’)
3. YAMG, amongst other Asian romance dramas that I’ve watched since 2010, has successfully made me feel single af! LOL!
4. My standard for romance genre AND my type of guy have went up to a new higher level (as if they weren’t already high). Now I don’t know if I could get me a boyfriend—ahem—a HUSBAND like Yu Tu who has flaws but perfect in my eyes. I don’t know if I could find a partner as supportive as Jing Jing, who would look at me like I’m the brightest star in his life, who would tell me that I’m “his GLORY”. :’D
This is it. Without second thoughts, I rate You Are My Glory a solid 10/10, more than that if I could! I’d definitely rewatch it in the future. <3

A Sweet Romance
I liked it a lot. I am a romance buff for any type of romance. In my opinion, this one is more fluffy romance even though it's a story about a couple around their 30s. Not much about the reality of being a couple at that age. It was more about the fluffy romantic moments they have with each other when they finally get together. The couple was very sweet and cute and fun. I love these two leads. At first, I was worried that these two really popular actors wouldn't have enough cp vibes to support a rom com but I was seriously wrong. They brought their characters to life and filled the drama with a very much so, lovey dovey cuteness.I didn't really notice anything special about the music so I have no comment there.
My biggest complaint is the story itself. The actors were great. Even the side characters were memorable and their personalities were really vibrant and cute. My fav...I loved the adorable assistant.
But the story...
I would say about 95% of the story is about their romance (which I have no problem with), and then there is about 5% where the story tried really hard to incorporate the problems in their own lives but to me, it was terribly incorporated. What could have been more emotional or needed more to make me connect more into what the situation was about was very quickly run over or not very well-defined. The little side moments about their lives like some moments that were shared about when they were high schoolers or specifically their interactions with their exes was so quickly done or just how it played out made me feel like it was a very unnecessary part of the plot to include or needed more. I don't know, but for some moments, it didn't feel like it was enough to give the situation a slot in the story. Because some of the moments I want to complain about didn't really help build character or help develop the plot, at least that was how it felt like to me. I don't know how to explain it well, but in some parts, it just felt like it was not necessary to be included in the drama or it felt like it needed more to help make it a moment that would help develop the plot over all.
Anyhow, if you like fluffy romances that give you that inner cringe from the sweetness and cuteness of the couple, then this drama is for you. 100% recommend to romance cdrama rom com lovers.

Not Just Another Fluffy Drama.
I have not read the novel but have read comments how close this one is to the novel and how the key points in the book was also added in the series. There is much more to the series than romance. It's a slice of life kinda drama that was shown perfectly here. What I like:
- we have an imperfect ML. The MLs character is a very realistic one. We have a top student at a crossroad and is depressed. When he realized his wrong he tried to redeem himself to our FL.
- we have an FL whose smart and lively. Although she can be impulsive I like her personality. The way she was cold to our ML after being rejected was refreshing. Lol we got no stupid FL she loves herself and tries to protect her own heart.
- supportive family and friends. I hate conflicts and this one does not have an irritating mother or domineering parent and a friend whose against the relationship or any of one of the charcters.
- they are both mischievous and a bit narcissistic and I like it. It added color or flair to their relationship.
What I don't like
- the exes. I dislike them both. Lol. From how they were portrayed there's nothing to like at all. The MLs ex wants him back becaise our FL likes her and she feels confident she can. I like how our ML was man enough ti apologize to her and straightforwardly say to her face he never loved her. He thought they were compatible but he nwver loved her. That was throwing cold water to her face. I loved it.
The FLs ex is a douchebag. Blaming another girl for leaking a video. Seriously he's craving attention from our lovable FL. I like how the FL put him in his place and reminded him that he was an ex for a reason.
- that 2nd rejection. Seriously? After all that subtle flirting anf innuendo? Although I understand why. We have a boy who grew up as a golden boy who sorta became a nobody while chasing his dream and here he is faced with a girl who used to be average but turned out to be great. His ego is wounded he can't think clearly.
The acting was good and I mean good. I have seen Reba in other series and have seen much improvement in her acting. And Yang Yang, the scenes where he is confused or down I can't help but feel for him. Obviously this character Yu Tu has more depth than Xiao Nai in Love O2O but this man nailed the role. I like him more here.
Whoever said YY can't act kiss scenes well should watch this. Just saying. ?IMO of we get another news like one of Janice Wu and Zhang Yujian in these two I will not be surprised. But for now they are just an OTP.
The ost. I like and love Liu Yuning. Need I say more?
Definitely rewatching this.
I've spoiled myself with trailers of thw next coming episodea and I must say this one definitely is on my top 5 of cdramas of 2021.

A great drama in 2021!
I decided to watch this drama just because of the amazing cast, Yang Yang and Dilraba. And they did not fail to deliver the best out of them. I was totally hitched to this drama. Don't even start me on their romance! Yang Yang was on fire and the chemistry between main leads were more than the best!I'm sure that the producing crew had to put on a great effort on this drama, since the drama has technical parts on game playing and aerospace technology. Those aspects were delivered in a very realistic way. You will never get disappointed watching this, because this drama is really beautiful and is worth watching.

This show was great. This is probably at the limit of what a cdrama romcom can be today. The leads had great chemistry & they looked adorable together and it's great that focus has been so much on them, there is not much side tracking during the 32 episodes. The production quality is extremely high, the audiovisuals are up there with the best Asian dramas that I've seen. I may have enjoyed watching the GoGo Squids, but this is my first cdrama, where the gaming aspect truly works and they made a great job at making that exciting. The aerospace parts were also relatively interesting and kind of novel too I guess. Ultimately the story is not all that revolutionary or anything, but it's just so wholesome and the drama kind of made me relive the feeling of watching Asian dramas for the first time. My need for fluff & sugar has been also completely satisfied. It's so refreshing that the main couple is not opposed by anyone, there are only supporting voices and yet the drama is still funny & interesting enough. The complete lack of a love triangle is always a giant plus as well. It's great that the FL is an artiste, but none of the usual annoying tropes are used. In this drama even the paparazzi are kind of cute. Supportive netizens appear the be becoming a trend in modern cramas, that's always something I'm happy to see. Personally I love it, when in a drama a normal person is dating a celebrity and we get scenes describing situations where people meet their friend's significant celebrity other for the first time. Trope-ish or not, that just never gets old for me and in You Are My Glory we had a lot of that..
I already mentioned how I found the production quality to be excellent. The OST deserves further elaboration. Individually the songs are not that great, I've heard way better in a cdrama (hello there Perfect and Casual), but the mixing is really outstanding, music is used perfectly to help set various moods, I never felt it being detrimental.
Sexuality in cdramas & especially in kdramas is often portrayed very strangely. Like 35 year old FLs are almost never ready to have premarital sex. I understand that many people like it how sex is not a major plot point in these shows, unlike in Hollywood productions, but in my opinion the opposite can be even more annoying. Not in this drama though, this is how I think all drama couples should approach this matter. (implying sex in a realistic time frame, without bringing it into major focus)
Obviously nothing is perfect. The single biggest problem I found with this drama is the main driving force of conflict, what little conflict we've had, namely ML's low wages as an aerospace engineer. This is extremely unrealistic, in China a state employed aerospace engineer will never have problems affording medicare for his parents. So the entire plot about ML wanting to switch carriers due to low compensation feels wrong. Frankly it surprised me that the censors let this go, though perhaps having hundreds of Chinese flags everywhere made them happy enough to ignore this not so minor detail.
I'm sure a rewatch will happen eventually, 10/10!

O My, this is so cute !!!
Both main characters are older (30) and felt much more mature in their approach to life and romance, which really resonated with me as someone also in her 30s.** Warning: Spoilers Ahead **
I loved the main female lead, Qiao Jing Jing. She's a strong and witty character who has an independent personality and isn't defined solely by the romance. Even though she had a crush on Yu Tu in high school and part of college, she moved on and had other relationships; it wasn't like she was pining after him for the last 10 years. She's also very smart. She saw right through her ex when he attempted to try and get back together with her, and she did great job of coming up with their team's strategy in the Honor of Kings exhibit match.
The main male lead, Yu Tu, experiences some character development as well. When we first meet him, he's at a crossroads in his life where he has to decide whether to pursue his passion or to switch careers and make big bucks doing something he doesn't enjoy. Most of the people around him are telling him he's making the right choice by moving into investment banking, but Jing Jing comes into his life and makes him question his decisions.
Because they're both 30, they don't rush into the relationship, and I love that. When Jing Jing first asks Yu Tu out (yay for the girl making the first move!), his response is to say no because their worlds are too different. I thought that was a completely reasonable response, and exactly the same type of doubt I'd have if I were in his shoes. And then when he realizes it's not that important and actively starts pursuing Jing Jing again, she doesn't immediately say yes either. She holds out because she wants to make him suffer a little bit. How sneaky.....
Even the exes are fleshed out slightly. We get insight into why both Jing Jing and Yu Tu's previous relationships fail and it's for very realistic reasons, which again gives this drama a more mature feel.
My only (minor) complaint about this story is that it does spend a lot of time on the Honor of Kings game. I was glad when the gaming bits stopped after few episodes of the way through and the rest of the story was focused on real life and their relationship.
I will definitely be re-watch this drama again :)

Light-hearted, not many overused clichés.
I was a bit skeptical watching this drama because I've only seen one drama of both of the ML & FL. So I wasn't sure about how the acting will be here.I enjoyed it. It was a nice break for me because I've been seeing a lot of dramas with the same events repeating for a couple (such as breakups, misunderstandings, damsel in distress situations, parents causing problems in relationships, jealous exes trying to sabotage the relationship, etc.)
I like how this drama tried to be as realistic as possible. We have a smart ML but he has some flaws as well. They may not be the best flaws (but it's still different than Yang Yang's flawless character with no struggles in Love O2O by the same writer). They spent a decent amount of time to show his struggles and how hard it was for him to make important decisions for his life. I think that was enough to show that he's not entirely perfect. They also tried to throw in some scenes to show that he's not the only smartest character in there. They obviously didn't focus on the other smart characters because they're not the main focus of the story so I think it's understandable.
I also like how the FL's character is written. She's endearing, has a high EQ, and most importantly not obnoxious for the age depicted. I cannot watch FL characters who are shown to be in their late 20's or early 30's and they act like someone who just turned 12. Jing Jing may be playful, but she's not one of those typical childish/dumb FL. (Those childish FL's who have a crush on the ML and start to cling on them right from the start in such a cringe way. Or they use childish tricks to try to make the ML fall for them. Oh, and those FL's who fall for the man immediately when he leans against her while teaching her or they had some sort of physical contact.) Jing Jing somewhat pursues him by making him her coach but she wasn't all over him and following him everywhere.
Now for the romance. It does take awhile for our couple to get together. (I think halfway through the drama they're finally together). So for some the development of the romance will be slow. I think the pace was fine. Our leads were high school classmates, but they didn't have much interaction then. It was necessary for them to get to know one another in the beginning of this drama. Then you can see them slowly fall for each other. The main problem they faced was before their relationship started, so I'm glad about that. They were very understanding of each other. I like how both of them respected each other and they supported each other. They were also both able to pursue their dreams and have a successful career. Their chemistry was amazing! Once they got together, there were some moments where you couldn't stop smiling or getting embarrassed from watching them.
This drama mainly focused on our main leads. There wasn't much story added to secondary characters which I found okay. They didn't need a secondary couple to drive the story forward, the main couple was perfect enough. However, I just found it a tiny bit annoying, that they added some characters in there and they just suddenly disappeared or became irrelevant (like Yu Tu's friends that he played the game with.)
I'd rewatch it but I'd probably skip some parts.
Also, some people might be deterred because there is a lot of aerospace terminology and won't understand what's going on in the scientific aspect. I probably wouldn't focus too much on understanding those scenes and let it hinder the overall watching experience. There is also some gaming in the start of the show, but it's not something you have to understand much either. The gaming aspect isn't the main focus of the show.
